hi taylor! in case you were looking for some petitions, donation sites, or other resources related to blm, this google doc should help you with that!! it has a ton of helpful info and maybe you could share some links on your instagram story.
hello Kimani, do you have a PayPal or Venmo that we can donate to? I saw your post about you not having an income and while I don’t have a lot, I want to help. or I can donate by proxy (like if you don’t have enough $ to donate to a certain fund or foundation I can donate for your sake). sending you love and support - if you need to cry, cry. I like crying in the shower because it’s a bit more private and no one else can judge. take care
this is so so so nice of you
if you’d like to donate by proxy, please donate to this small business relief fund for black owned businesses or to breonna taylor’s fund.
my venmo is @/ohkimani-ooohkimani and my paypal is [email protected]. all funds sent to me are being used to pay for my rent +utilities and art supplies to make small pieces in return for any payment made.
thank you so much for your kindness and support 🥺💓
to add onto this, if you do send me something and want a piece in return, please DM me your mailing address 💗
just wanted to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has helped out in some way, shape or form. it really means so much and i am so lucky to have experienced so much kindness in such a tumultuous time for us all
thank you thank you thank you
❤️
it’s just SO frustrating to me that taylor swift made an entire documentary about her social and political awakening and said that she wants to be more active in what happens in the world. she said over and over how she worked to dismantle an entire system in her head and learned how to reject it. how she was tired of being just a good girl who was polite and kept her mouth shut. she cried and fought with her father about how she wanted to be on the right side of history. she wrote a song about how young people can and will change the world. she branded herself as miss americana. and now when her black fans and black people all over the world need her the most, she’s SILENT. she has a massive platform. on instagram alone, she has 133 million followers. posting a fucking black square and sharing a swipe up link is NOT enough. that is NOT activism. we are being unjustly murdered at the hands of white cops and white supremacists at an alarming rate. she has a responsibility to use her platform in the right way, and i’m sorry, but she’s not doing it and i’m tired.
every single day i’m scared for myself, i’m scared for my friends, i’m scared that a little black girl is going to wake up somewhere tomorrow morning and find out that her mom or dad was racially targeted by a trigger happy police officer and suddenly she has to grow up without one of her parents. i’m scared that this is never going to change and that black people will have to live in fear for the rest of forever. i’m scared that one day i might have to sit down with my own children and tell them how to respond when they get pulled over by a police officer. i’m scared that one day when my own children are my age they’re going to have to go out and protest for themselves & their friends to have basic fucking human rights. i’m tired and i’m scared and i’m sick of white celebrities and their performative activism.
…and to all the white people in this fandom, please just stop taking time out of your day to tell us that we’re wrong about this and that taylor must have so much going on in her life right now. Taylor was on social media enough to know (and post) about the blackout on Tuesday. Taylor was on social media enough to know about the riots in the first place. She has the time and resources to stand with the black lives matter movement. So yes, we have every right to be angry at a woman who we’ve dedicated so much to for her not to stand up more for our basic human rights.
I can hope that she has not wanted to direct attention away from the movement and has chosen to donate privately, but I do wish she were more vocal about dismantling this broken system.
I’m sure she has donated privately, but now is not the time to show PRIVATE support. It needs to be PUBLIC support.
When Taylor talked publicly about the fight to own her own work, she herself called on fellow celebrities and other folks with a big platform to be publicly supportive of her and artists’ rights. BLACK LIVES are on the line. Black lives matter. And Black people are calling for PUBLIC support. @taylorswift

here’s the link to donate to george floyd’s official memorial fund if you are able to contribute. if you can’t donate, please share. being black shouldn’t be a death sentence.
taylor’s post on twitter has gotten over 2 million likes. imagine the impact it would have had if she had shared a link to a petition or encouraged people to donate below that post. i really hope she’ll do more to raise awareness about this movement.
when taylor started the petition for the equality act last year the impact was enormous. she simply shared the link and it got hundreds of thousands of signatures so quickly. if she could do the same now that would be great.
Thought I’d take tonight as an opportunity to talk about the unjust murders of black people that have been getting the tiniest bit of media attention recently. It feels wrong to post a selfie of myself when there are people who leave their house to go to school or work or on a run expecting to come home at night for dinner and don’t, or don’t even need to leave their house to be murdered for nothing but the color of their skin. So here’s a picture of Breonna Taylor, who was an awarded EMT and brutally murdered in her own home after the police claimed they were at the wrong house when they already had the correct suspect in custody. I’m guilty of it too, not doing enough or paying enough attention. These murders happened months ago, but this isn’t new. It has always happened and will keep happening. Black people don’t need to do anything to be attacked or killed or targeted. It doesn’t matter if they have a weapon or not or a criminal record or not. If they weren’t black this wouldn’t be happening. And the people who keep doing this keep getting away with it. Travyon was murdered at only 17 by a cop who can just claim self defense and walk away. Michael Brown was killed in my own city by another racist cop who gets to hide behind his uniform and skin color to get away with it. Ahmaud was on a run. Breonna in her own home. The list goes on and on and on. And consistently these cases don’t even get a little bit of attention until the public, specifically the black community and activists, get word and become infuriated, and even then justice is never served. Never. They will keep killing us and getting away with it and it is so exhausting and infuriating to sit back and watch and wonder who is gonna be next. I know I do. I also know I and everyone else needs to do so much better. For now, I know there are some petitions you can sign and calls you can make. Keep sharing their stories and saying their names and calling out the racist bullshit you see everyday. If we don’t set the precedent that this is not and never will be okay, then when does it end?
