The Bimbettes/Village Lasses from Beauty and the Beast!
A Rant About BatB and the Internet
I’m talking specifically about BatB 1991 here and this entire post is a rant about how the Internet treats this movie.
Internet Point 1: Belle should’ve married Gaston!
Rewatch the proposal scene for exactly why she’s not doing this. The animation speaks for itself.
Internet Point 2: Stockholm Syndrome.
Belle stands up to the Beast in the dinner request and post-wolf attack scenes. She wasn’t in love with him until his behavior changed.
Internet Point 3: Beast should’ve stayed a Beast!
No, he shouldn’t have. While the Beast has one of the most interesting character designs for any Disney character ever, and yes the whole big fluffy monster thing is appealing to some of us (okay a lot of us, I’m not excluded), he also would’ve succumbed to an animalistic mindset had he remained like that, and it would throw all his character development down the drain. It’s not fair to him, and besides, he was seeking his humanity, not beauty.
Internet Point 4: Belle actively tried to change the Beast.
While staying with someone to change them is never going to work in real life and this mindset should be warned about, I just don’t think it’s really applicable for the Belle/Beast romance. If anything this would be more about Gaston’s attempts to mold Belle into his perfect wife.
It was Belle’s kind heart and willingness to argue back when he’s wrong that made Beast want to learn more about her. He doesn’t really get enough credit for how hard he worked to regain his humanity. Sure, he needed some guidance here and there, but he also learned to accept everyone’s help and do his best. Plus, there are some problems that he can’t really help, like how he can’t properly use a spoon, and it’s really sweet of Belle to help find solutions that wouldn’t embarrass him.
So I think the more accurate statement here is that Belle inspired Beast.
One of my favorite genres of Beauty and the Beast fanart are Belle and Beast in the library and Belle’s looking for books while Beast is just holding a ginormous stack in his arms. I can’t help but picture them doing this after the curse is broken and Adam discovers the hard way that he can’t hold as many books as before.
Belle, but she’s dressed in something more common for the Baroque Period 💛🌹📚

Costume Appreciation: Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Stars Josh Gad and Luke Evans will reprise their roles from the 2017 feature for a limited series from 'Once Upon a Time' creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, with Gad also down as co-creator, writer and showrunner.
Gaston and LeFou are getting an origin story.
Streaming service Disney+ is teaming with Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz as well as stars Josh Gad and Luke Evans for a Beauty and the Beast prequel limited series to the 2017 feature film in which the latter pair starred.
The untitled limited series will be a six-episode musical event, with composer Alan Menken in talks to return as well. Sources say the project, which is currently in the early development stage, will take place well before the events of the film and also expand the Beauty and the Beast . No other stars from the film — like Emma Watson and Dan Stevens — are currently attached, though sources say there is a possibility that they could pop in for a guest spot.
Kitsis and Horowitz will serve as showrunners alongside Gad. Evans, Gad as well as Kitsis and Horowitz will all exec produce. Gad, Kitsis and Horowitz will all write scripts. ABC Signature Studios is the studio on the series. (It’s worth noting that Kitsis and Horowitz briefly explored Beauty and the Beast during their time running ABC’s Disney-themed drama Once Upon a Time, with Robert Carlyle’s Rumpelstiltskin playing the Beast, while Emilie de Ravin was Belle.)
Sources say the Beauty and the Beast prequel stemmed from Kitsis and Horowitz’s time working with Gad on the scrapped Muppets Live Another Day comedy series that was in the works for months at Disney+. The trio created the comedy, which was to be an eight-episode limited series that took place after the events of Muppets Take Manhattan. Conversations about the untitled Beauty and the Beast prequel began shortly after the trio decided to depart Muppets.
Reps for Disney+ and ABC Studios declined comment.

Emma Watson in a photoshoot for “Beauty and the Beast” (2017)
Who knew that LeFou could be capable of stealing the spotlight?
1991′s Belle wearing a 2017′s version of the ‘library’ dress.
In this year’s live action BATB remake, Belle will have a brand new ‘royal celebration’ ballgown. Too bad that animated Belle never got one for her grand finale: unlike Emma Watson, in her film she has to make do with donning the yellow dress again.
