So, like many in fandom, I wasn't exactly pleased to find out that Jamie was playing Celeborn. While I didn't doompost, I was thinking it. But after seeing the trailer (and studying gifs, lol), I'm becoming optimistic. What I'd like to do now is discuss the most relevant scenes! Yay for analyzing again!
Confrontation with the Orc
We have a new supporting orc cast member, it seems. What his ultimate goal will be has yet to be determined, but he seems to be an important player with certain things. The one thing I caught in this clip was how Mr. Orcie's attention was only on Gal. Heck, his gaze was transfixed and he was rather...beguiling with her (not sure if that's the right word); you know, like when a villain is trying to persuade the hero to give in to what they're offering. Question is, why her? Is it because she's the leader? Or, is it because he knows about the special nature between her and Sauron, and there is something he can do for her (it's up to you to decide which 'he' I'm referring to 😀)?
A Tale of Two Reunions
We have to talk about Celly, the reunion(s), and, unfortunately, that kiss. Ok, so, we see two moments where it appears he and Gal are seeing one another for the first time; one, in a dungeon, and the other in a lush, green forest. This is all very suspect. I first have to question the reasoning for doing such a thing. Why would they show both? Kind of gives things away, doesn't it? Anyway...I think we know one is a fakeout. Which one? It's the woods, and I'll tell you why: it's way too romantic of a setting. Like, let's think about this rationally. Are we really expecting Gal and Celly to suddenly randomly happen upon each other in a quiet forest during a war, and then passionately kiss (and this is where it takes place; the background matches)? Yeah, it's too perfect.
HandGate 2.0
Time fore the most important (and juiciest) scene to cover: HandGate 2.0. All right, so let's review: we have Galadriel laying down, seemingly upset, at which point a hand strokes her hair, down her cheek, with his knuckles. She then releases her emotions. We all want to believe it's Sauron, and not Celly. So, let's make a case for Sauron. First, let's examine the details of the scene. The most notable is, of course, Gal's expression. She looks on edge; petrified, even. When the perp's finger's finally touches her, Gal appears to let out a sob. Turning to the hand, I would like to point out how much of her it's touching. Not only is this person touching her cheek, but he starts by running the back of his hand over her hair. Now, who can we think of that is obsessed with Galadriel's hair? Also, I just caught this, there is a bit of a hesitation as his fingers reach her skin. It's almost as if whoever is this is, he's doing it for the first time; there's a type of sacredness to his actions. One more thing: the person's wrist is ALMOST seen. As it moves more into view, there's darkness surrounding it. Some of it is likely shadow, but it appears to me there is also some solidness to it, like a black sleeve, perhaps. Who is wearing black this season? 😏
Ok, I have to play devil's advocate for a minute. You know, try some objectivity. Maybe Galadriel is upset over a particularly rough battle. Like, the whole not-yet-Nazgul assault on the elves, and someone is trying to comfort her. It does seem her last expression where she closes her eyes is one of relief. Plus, the headboard, or whatever furniture she's on, is rather intricate, as are the pillows. And something needs to be said about the openness at her neck, i.e, she's not in armor.
However, it is very unlikely this is a break from all the chaos of war. Galadriel is in a state of ruin with all that dirt on her, and her posture leads me to believe that her arms are at her side. I would think that if you were able to get some reprieve, you'd want to wash up and have your hands up by your face while in the fetal position. Her attire is maybe some sort of fancy prison clothes given to her by a Maia unhealthily in love. Her eyes closing is probably an attempt of trying to pretend this isn't real. As for the furnishings, why says the ruler of Middle Earth doesn't like nice things around his evil lair?
Overall, I think I have made a solid case in defense of Sauron. He is the only one who makes sense. There is no scenario that Celly would be able to do this with his wife. Not in captivity, which might be a while. I highly doubt there would be such nice accommodations in the dungeon him and Gal are in.
Kind of sad hearing the showrunners intent is to humble Galadriel with the help of her husband. I am pretty sure the plan was different in season 1, but they had to get Celeborn back to cater to the taste of the misogynistic fandom. I don't know where the show is heading anymore. I am not even sure if they know what they are doing.
It makes sense for Galadriel to eventually lay down her sword and become the powerful, magical Lady we know. But the fact that this happens—that she puts the sword aside—because her nice husband finally comes home stems from misogynistic writing. I can't be convinced otherwise.

Yo, I can sense the panic around haladriel nation. It’ll be ok. First, they aren’t endgame and we know that. Second, the writers confirmed the deep connection Sauron and Galadriel have with the main director of S2 and 3 saying Gal was in love with Halbrand. And in-show Elrond calling Galadriel out on all of the above so…if that isn’t rich material ripe for angst? And how could they not bring up Galadriel not pinging his Cel signal because she was so deep in her Dark Lord obsession?
watching the SDCC26 Rings of Power Panel and here are some notes I'm taking from what they're saying:
We will be seeing Rivendell, still in its early stages so maybe not totally finished yet.
We will be seeing the inside of Barad Dur (Sauron's tower that later will have his big eye over it)
It sounds like Arondir and Galadriel have been travelling together looking for some "solution" for the past five years. So this isn't a new quest and they're both very tired. Especially Arondir is still carrying all his grief over Bronwyn. Ismael Cruz Cordova refers to it as a "covert mission" and Galadriel asked Arondir to join her.
Ganadalf has been learning with Tom Bombadil for the past five years aswell. He is 'looking for people who's hearts have been chilled' and is trying to 'rewarm them' (theory: maybe he tries to lead the Dark Wizard back to goodness? seems like theyre chatting in the teaser idk)
Pharazon and Miriel are cousins in the tRoP universe.
Miriel is in exiles with the faithful in the "West" (not totally sure what this means, I don't think it means on ME because that's actually East of Numenor, I think she likely means a more western coast of Numenor.) She is building a resistance against Pharazon along with 'helpers' we will 'recognize' (definitely Isildur but maybe some others?)
many dwarf lords come to Khazad Dum to damand the dwarf rings from Durin, but Durin had hidden them. Theres 'a lot of tears, a lot of fighting.' Thrain is there for the ring but Durin wants to believe in him because he's the only family he has left :( Owain Arthur says "it's kind of like a soap opera"
the forging of the one ring is going to be "absolutely unhinged"
there is almost a 15 minutes silent sequence of Sauron fighting to survive inside the volcano as he forges the ring.
Celeborn has been "in the equivalent of sadistic alcatraz for a thousand years" and the hope for his reunion with Galadriel "has been keeping him alive"
We will get some Celeborn fight scenes as Ben Walker says Celeborn "is a lover and a fighter" and JD Payne says he "looks awesome doing both"
Marnuk "claims" to "want to help the elves defeat the Dark Lord," and his conflicted dynamic with Arondir and Galadriel will be source of a lot of "entertainment" and according to Ismael we are going to fall in love with him lol.
There will be new characters in Numenor (seeming to refer to Anarion but maybe some others too!)
Pharazon is really fixated on Sauron (a man-crush as Cynthia Addai-Robinson calls it lol)
Durin and Disa's kids are now teenagers and will be actual characters involved in the family drama. "Disa and Durin's marriage is tested"
The Naznagnol are searching for the three elf rings because Sauron is struggling to make the one rings and wants to try to reverse engineer how the elf rings were made
Balrog will have speaking lines, its an intelligent being not a mindless monster. "every season" they will "show a different side of him" He will have a scene with Sauron---related to Sauron needing to know how to survive in the fire of the volcano. Sauron will have to lock in for this interaction because this will be the first time we see him engaging with another maiar, a being at the same power level as him rather than below him.
We see the early stages of the Fell Beast, who were eagles tortured by Morgoth (according to Sauron)
Gandalf rides the Mumakil.

No, I'm not now imagining Sauron desperately stripping to his underclothes to stay cool, why would you even suggest such a thing?
All joking aside, "silent" does worry me very slightly... I hope they just mean "no character to character dialogue", because... Song is so important in the lore, it literally created the entire world (by Eru's will, ofc) — even Melkor's discord helped shape it!
I know I go on and on and on about "sexy Sauron", but him not singing/chanting the Ring's inscription during its forging is the one thing that would genuinely disappoint me... Here's hoping I'm worrying about nothing. 🤞 (It's not like the show has ever let me down before, so my hopes remain high!)

It kills me that Saruman tried to double cross Sauron by feigning allegiance. Like that's... that's Sauron's whole thing! You're trying to play him at his own game, Curumo! I know you were not around in the Second Age, but you're a loremaster, you must know the stories!
I bet you Sauron wasn't fooled for even a second. He got Saruman's fucking cover letter via Palantir and was still pissing himself laughing three hours later. "He's trying to be the me to my Ar-Pharazon!!! That's fucking hilarious, yeah sure pet, you can be a cute little distraction for Rohan, might even be useful."
