It’s all lies. He looks into the mirror, contemplating touching the surface or his own face and he can’t do either. It’s not his. It’s not him. It’s all lies. As real as it all seems, this is all just show. The emotions are real, the people are real, the deaths are real, the secrets and betrayals are all real.
And yet, it is all lies.
Where is he from? Who are his people? What are his goals, his wishes, his dreams? Why is he like this? Who is he? Why is he here?
He finds no answer. But he can sense where they are, he just needs to get there. It’s not going to be easy, and the truth will be a horrible one, but it will be real. Grasping at the last of what he believes, he reaches in, and crosses the threshold.
A murky dizziness overwhelms him, both strange and familiar, an infinite space of everything and nothing, it’s here somewhere.
The vastness of space is beautiful, alluring, full of color on a black void. He sees nothing and everything, he reaches out with his hand, it’s slow and heavy in the thickness, and his knees feel weak and want to tumble, he almost drops. And yet, he holds firm, the truth is out here.
On shuffling feet, he walks forward. Or backwards, he can’t tell. His hand still reaching, the thickness gets heavier, the weight of this nothingness feels increasingly numbing, the loss of control. It’s terrifying but worse is the feeling of knowing that you don’t know the truth. Moving, slouching, feeling, breathing, emptying and filling the nothingness.
