plain text: daily transrussian tip
try to be at least somewhat informed on what's going on in russia politically. this isn't a news blog, but just for example i want to do a quick retelling of what's going on now
ofc there's A LOT of different things happening, im not saying it's the only thing going on. again, this isn't a news channel. also there will be a bunch of stuff i simplify to not make this post 100 pages long explaining all the context. aaaand this will be tainted with my personal beliefs and political opinions, but most of not every retelling would be tainted by the speakers ideology, so it's okay, just keep that in mind. uhhh I think the disclaimer is over
so this september there will be an election for parliament. of course it's all a fucking joke, the results will be most definitely faked. the discussions are about how much of it will be faked, not IF it will or won't be.
now, the political parties taking part in this """election""" are:
единая россия (united russia), the party that is actually in power. they are basically guaranteed the first place, even tho there's not this universal love for it. it's always for anything putin wants, and thus it's extremely pro-war. the message is something like this : it's bad right now, it will become worse, the war is holy and urgently needed, and it will continue for years. ect
КПРФ and ЛДПР: the other two bigger parties, the "communist" one and the "liberal" one. they traditionally hold some part of power, but they arent REALLY political parties. they aren't allowed to have ambitious of taking up too much votes, much less having more votes, then the russia united. it would be absurd because even this loyal takeover would be TOO oppositional and anti-putin, and they would be probably quickly made illegal or some shit lmao. you might wonder, why am I combining communist and liberal parties in one point? aren't those ideologies contradictory? well, on paper they might be, but if we are talking about the active russian parties КПРФ and ЛДПР are also basically for anything that putin wants 👍 (/sarcasm for the thumbs up emoji). they are mostly decorative and mostly don't oppose anything of meaning in the status quo. and ofc they are also pro war in Ukraine.
there are also some other parties that hold basically zero power, even compared to the communist and the liberal parties. nobody cares about them lmao, and as i see it, they even don't care about them. superficially they might have different views, but they are basically all for the same old thing - whatever putin wants and whatever is decided from above.
... you might notice that the selection isn't very inspiring. you're right, it isn't lol
buuuut there is one party who is against the war, and generally somewhat for positive change, and don't agree with every little word coming from putins lips. its far from being like leftist or socialist or anything like that, but at the fucking least they want to stop fucking killing people in a meatgrinder, wow. just for wanting to end the war in/with Ukraine they are miles and miles above any other party.
this party is called яблоко (apple, not a reference to the tech company btw). it has existed for more than 20 years, and traditionally they were very weak and passive, so nobody cared, and they only got around 1-3% in most elections. again, people would rather support any actual opposition than this nothing-burger of a party.
but because of the war this party is gaining some actual support and it's too much of a threat to the current power.
sooooo now everybody suddenly panics and tryes to ban them from the election LOL
and instead of finding a real reason (because there was none, the party was following the rules) they did a fucking circus of a trial about copyright law. for most absurd things like a 12 second fragment of a video (that isn't even a part of the parties advertising before the election) where theres One Line of a song quoted. and it's a very popular song that also has existed for a long time. also some things that are either totally legitimately bought to use or are so far-fetched that they don'take sence.
they could have tryed to sue them for some financial crime, real or fabricated, but it's much easier to cancel a party from elections for copyright violations than for something financial. guess why? because there is JUST SO FUCKING MUCH corruption going in and it's SO normalized and inevitable if you are an actor in politics, that it would be dangerous to have financial fraud and corruption be enough to ban a party.
what is the conclusion? i don't fucking know man... they are scared even of the most soft and flacid oppositional party, and also nobody belives in this whole theatre. everybody understands that all this is bullshit, that the judicial hearings had a decision made beforehand, and the whole procedure was there to find any formal reason, no matter how stupidly obviously fake it is. and this isn't a one and done thing, this is just generally how SO FUCKING MUCH of russian politics and courts goes
... sooo try to be in the loop on what's happening, at least very generally. this is just the current example.
