"if i had a time machine i would go back in time and kill hitler"
I would put sea mines around medieval britain. i would give hannibal barca ww2 era heavy artillery and tell him not to stop till he starts seeing gauls. i would give boudica a fucking abrams. i would appear before jesus like an angel and tell him "you gotta stop. not cause theyll kill you, youre fine with that, surprisingly, but because your fanclub is gonna spend about 1500 years making everything worse for everyone, everywhere." I would take a glock back in time and shoot romulus, shoot remus, and shoot that damn dog too just to be safe. i would be on the side of christopher columbus' ship in a scuba suit planting c4 on that bitch like rainbow six siege. i would be waging a one woman campaign of terror across andalusia to prevent the reconquista. i would be getting way out in front of that shit is what im saying,

We respect MOTHER Berry in this house. I worked so so hard on this costume and I'm so proud of it. this is a very rushed film job because I did this literally before work please gimme love!!!!! I'M SO PROUD OF THIS COSTUME I MADE BY HAND
Another QuickPic on my days off! She's hamming for the cam
Not the best quality, but at least I can feel productive this week.
ā¦feels strange that I've only drawn one other Asari (a Mass Effect race, like this gal) so far this year? Wild.
Finished Mass Effect 3 the other day and got thinking about the casual clothing/civilian wear in the game. Model and budget constraints means thereās not a whole lot of variety, and many of the non-armored pieces arenāt to my personal taste. So I thought itād be cute to do a fake Citadel magazine, starting off with featuring Liara.
Notes on Asari fashion: From what Iāve noticed, Asari fashion favors a very feminine silhouette, especially skin-tight, with tasteful additions to encourage an hourglass silhouette (Samaraās shoulder armor, Liaraās coat tails, Ariaās cropped coat: all help with this silhouette). Characters who donāt wear skin tight clothes frequently have cut outs to embellish traditionally feminine styles (Matriarch Beneziaās iconic boob window). While planning out an outfit I kept these in mind!
Some earlier outfit ideas! Went with the third for Liara. I really like the 60ās-esque sort of vibe to it and I thought it matched her personality. The first one is also very pretty but I was thinking more for the Asari councilor!
Coming up with more variation on the somewhat uninspiring npc outfits from the games is something I've given some thought to myself, but I don't think I've done as good a job as this.
Really enjoy the thought that's gone into designing it, and the 60s-style go-go boots got a good chuckle out of me.

something about fowler having had his parents and sister killed due to colonialism as a child. something about him overthrowing the shogun and forcing japan to open its borders to the west. something about "biggest city in the world is burning to the ground as a blood sacrifice to your revenge." something about violence that never ends.
Fowlerās attitude to colonialism is so interesting to me. Like yeah heās a colonizer but he doesnāt claim any moral justification for it; he doesnāt seem to have any notions of racial or cultural superiority; heās not attitude is very much just one of āsorry, we just happen to have better technology and you just happen to have stuff we want; bad luck for you, but themās the breaks.ā Donāt hate the player; hate the game.
And I think that attitude is very interesting, particularly when his people were the first ever to be colonized by the British. The fact that he sees Mizuās disregard for the collateral damage caused by her ruthless pursuit of her own goals as a manifestation of her whiteness is *so* telling to me.
The manās an absolute monster, but his complete lack of pretense about his monstrousness makes me like him a lot more as a character than if he believed (or even claimed to believe) that what he was doing was somehow morally justified. If youāre gonna a depraved evil bastard, the least you can do is own it.
yes! another interesting thing about him is that what he suffered due to colonialism made him want to inflict it on others. he says "no one murders as well as the british. it's our number one export". i didn't expect him--or anyone in his position--to associate himself with the people who killed his family and community. but he does it with pride. and it's a very important detail that he's taking mizu to london (to england in general). the scars of colonialism are soo written on him they've become a part of himself
his line "we'll flood your land with our people, our music, our shame, bread, and milk until you think an ugly face like mine more beautiful than your own" does make me think there's a racial/cultural aspect to his actions. maybe not superiorty, but bitterness for sure over being isolated for a decade and thought of as a monster
You guys i NEED to get educated on non-western history because here i was looking for like a biography on this historical characterššš I KNOW JAPAN WAS NEVER REALLY COLONIZED BUT LISTEN. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING THE BRITISH WOULD AT LEAST ATTEMPT
Actually Japan was pretty much the only part of SE Asia the British never bothered with- it was the Dutch and the Portuguese first, and then the Americans after that.
Though it's worth noting that for most of the rest of SE Asia, Japan was the invading colonialist power. Especially in later centuries.

Tbh I just figured this was one of the few actually historically accurate elements about Fowler as a character (tl;dr, the white men trading in Japan during their isolation period were chiefly Dutch and Portuguese, there were plenty more than just four criminals, and his talking about the British is anachronistic, given that at this point in time it's still just England, and the term 'British' would be used to refer to the Welsh and Cornish), in that in the West the various doctrines of racial superiority hadn't really formed yet, and as such wouldn't factor into people's thinking.
This gives a certain ironic contrast between him and the Japanese when you think about it, where they are so intensely racist that they regard Mizu as being subhuman for being mixed-race, whereas Fowler couldn't care less.
In better news I got an amazing gift commission done of my idea of Meg as a prisoner of the Yiga Clan from a really great friend. More of a comedy piece because well it's the Yiga clan. Very spicy! This would be super fun to cosplay and recreate but I have no idea when I could get such nice fabrics.
I ended up not writing very much about Meg and Master Kohga but I absolutely should! This art is absolutely gorgeous done by the amazing @lewdpala on twitter!
I'm so flattered. Getting the body right really mattered a lot to me. Though this is still pretty idealized, Meg has never looked better! It's all so gorgeous. I just love the fanarts people do with Gerudo Link inspired outfits. Kohga is a very lucky man~
I would absolutely die for this outfit. Thank you so much!!!!
why the vulture scene in atsv is pure horror (spoilers under the cut)
As promised, I now have the mental bandwidth to actually talk about Adriano Tumino aka the Medieval Vulture in Across the Spiderverse. This is a spoiler fest, so I'm putting everything under the cut. Enjoy!
So, at some point when I was younger, I first heard about Flatland. It's this satirical novella from 1884. When I was looking it up again last night to prepare myself to explain it to other people, I was SHOCKED to hear it was satire on Victorian society and class structures. I had only ever heard about it in science and horror spaces. As a work, it's mainly known now for exploring the idea of 4th dimensions before Einstein, but it also continues elements that are straight out of horror. So, instead of breaking down the whole thing, I'm going to be focusing on that stuff specifically.
Flatland is about A. Square (yes, that's his name), who is a square. As you can imagine, his entire world is two-dimensional and functions as such. There's a lot of worldbuilding, but just keep in mind that
The people in his world cannot conceive of a 3rd dimension, and any mention of such is heretical.
Circles are the highest ranked people in this world.
One day, he encounters what he thinks is a circle. Said character is actually a sphere. Even as said sphere fucks with his perception by looking like disks sliding in and out of reality and tells him about the 'truth' of the world, A. Square can't comprehend the third dimension until his teacher lifts him into it, into Spaceland. The square is enlightened! His mind has been opened! He tells the sphere, if his reality is false and there's truly a third dimension, what if there are more? What if a fourth dimension exists with fourth dimensional beings who cannot be accurately perceived?
His teacher immediately casts him back down into Flatland, where he is subsequently imprisoned. No one believes that the third dimension and Spaceland exist. He only is able to write the novella and hope that one day Flatland will be ready for this knowledge.
All of this to say that Adriano is A. Square.
I read a lot of dimension-based horror. Maybe it's because the multiverse has compelled me since I was a kid, or maybe it's because I've heard way too many thought experiments about how every person on the planet may see the world differently, and we just use the same language to describe fundamentally different visuals because we can't accurately verify anything. The horror of it all, for both readers and writers, isn't necessarily the idea of seeing things others can't. At least, it's not in the hands of someone sincerely thinking about the 'eldritch'. Instead, imagine a higher being grabbing you and exposing you to a whole new, weighty aspect of reality you could never conceive without actively being dragged into it. And then you're thrown back into your reality. It consumes you, drives you, and no one believes you. How can they, when it's something so alien to your reality that no one can even think of it unless shown?
Because of the ripple effects of the collider, Adriano Tumino is dragged into Earth-65, the home of Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy). We don't know a lot about his world. As far as I remember, we don't even get a number designation. But his design, dialogue, and track all communicate a great deal about him. Vulture Meets Culture as a track blends Gwen's theme with the sort of opera he might listen to back home. He's designed heavily on the aesthetics of Da Vinci notebooks. As he affects the world, you can even see notations a la research scribbles next to diagrams. From memory alone, disregarding the fact that he's Italian (though I'm sure the insistence on English in Earth-65 was probably disorientating if his entire world speaks Italian), he also finds this new reality to be abhorrent and lashes out. This alone, an exposure to new colors and strange art and even weirder people who look nothing like you and the rest of your world, would be hard enough to cope with.
And then Miguel, this Spider-Man from 2099, drags Adriano out into the modern day.
The thing with movies being in theaters is that I'm at the mercy of random people who film showings on their phone to get footage. Because everyone finds the helicopter scene directly after this more interesting (which is valid), I don't have a picture of this moment. But when Adriano is flying out into this future, when he lays his eyes on these towering skyscrapers alight with color, you can see his shock, perhaps even terror. It'd be rough enough being exposed to a version of Italy that's, say, his time period but in technicolor. But this is worse. This is his Spaceland moment. The opera builds almost mournfully.
Soon, he will be sent back to his reality. This will happen in an even more incomprehensible future dimension, with even more people who look nothing like him. Perhaps there's a version of his granddaughter there. Tiana Tumino? It doesn't matter. Imagine this though. Your grandfather is yanked out of existence. He comes back. And he tells you 'I have seen colors beyond the ones we live in. I have seen towers of glass and metal scraping the sky, all alight in these colors. I have seen art that contains more art, and it was hideous. No one understood me. Flying things neared me that were beyond anything even our greatest geniuses can make.'
Do you believe him? Can you even imagine it all, even if he describes it, even if he shows you drawings of what he witnessed?
Respectfully disagree. At least inasmuch as Adriano being terrified by what he sees.
Like, when Gwen first tells him that the building they're fighting in is a modern art gallery he has nothing but scorn for the pieces on display. Some of his moves in the ensuing fight seem to be him going out of his way to destroy some of them purely out of spite.
But then when he breaks through the roof, grappling with Miguel, he sees the glowing skyline of the modern-day city and he is mesmerised by it.
'Che meravigliosa bellezza.' he murmurs. 'Oh what wonderous beauty.'
Judging by the capabilities of his wing-armature, Adriano is an inventor and an artist himself. One who's just seen a glimpse of all the dreams of his age realised.
Honestly I thought that was a rather nice, humanising moment for an otherwise one-off bad guy.
I may have made this up but I've been driving myself crazy looking for it... I swear I saw a post on Tumblr detailing a headcanon that gloves are so common in Asari fashion because they view their hands as erogenous zones. The post was specifically inspired by the line that Benezia turned a lot of heads with her pin-striped suits. The poster said that's because the Asari wear nothing to cover their breasts in formal wear (instead wearing gloves to cover their hands)
Does this ring a bell for you at all?
Hi there and thank you for your message!
I feel like I have stumbled across the post you remember but I don't think it was ever reblogged here on CFW, and I also don't remember who wrote it, I'm very sorry.
Hence here our question to the whole CFW community: Does any of you know what post our Nonny is referring to? And if yes, would you mind either reblogging this with the link, or let us know so we can reblog it?

Inspired by my recently coming across @skinnyaznāāsĀ brilliant Liara illustration, I thought I might as well post this one I had done last year by LuckyFK, which by a delightful coincidence has the character in more or less the exact same dress.
Which if I recall correctly is from Muglerās Spring 2021 Catalogue, seen here being modelled by Dominique Jackson.
I see now that we both took the design in different directions from the original; FK and I initially tried to go with it as it is IRL but we didnāt think it looked right, and so ended up retooling it as beachwear, which I think really worked for it. Azn however has filled in the transparent skirt and gloves, so that it looks more robust and less flimsy, a simple yet very clever solution that I think has turned out very well.
Wish Iād thought of that. Ā ;)
Originally this one of mine was supposed to be for an OC called Selana, who would be a main character in a story Iāll probably never write. I have a couple of other illustrations of her if anyone wants to see them. The skintone for this turned out differently from how Iād imagined, but I was so dang pleased by what a great job FK had done for it that I wanted to finish and keep it anyway.Ā
Figure itās one of Selanaās friends who might have been featured later down the line.
Oh that's brilliant, I had some art done of one of my asari OCs done in that exact same dress, lmao. We couldn't quite get it to work as a dress, ended up deciding it looked better as beachwear, but I think you've succeeded where we could not.
This is marvellous, like even besides the dress you've nailed Liara's "bashful but aware of how good she looks" vibe. Well done.
It's Dead Space remake time, so I'm humbly resubmitting my extremely angsty story about Isaac Clarke reliving the trauma of being an unwilling government experiment while convincing everyone that he is Just Fine, Really:
This is always the worst part: the moment Isaac matches the body he remembers against the one he sees. He looks down and touches the deep, ragged puncture where he ripped a spear from his shoulder ā just before Ellie saved him, a while before she decided she was done with saving him. Stippled acid burns from the tentacled thing on Aegis VII, back when heād thought killing monsters might make the world make sense again. Below them across his chest, the symbols heās borne since his three years of hell.
Oof. A short but brutal read, really digging into Isaac's head and seeing how much trauma is left in there even after the Gold Marker's dementia is gone. Would recommend.

Commission of Matriarch Benezia that Fish did for me, based on an outfit reference from AlchRoveĀ (warning, super nsfw). Thereās also a nsfw version but tumblr will get upset if I include it. Edit: Nevermind, went for it anyway.
May seem like a strange outfit, but it kind of span out of a few headcanons of mine, where the asari have generally a much laxer nudity taboo than humans (for instance this outfit is what youād wear as like a suit, to a business meeting or something), and moreover have a different idea of what physical attributes are the most erotic.
As the the key component of their form of reproduction, the meld, requires touch, I figured that then their main erotic attribute would in fact be the hands. Rather serendipitously most asari clothing in-canon appears to feature elbow-length gloves. Thus the long sleeves here that only just barely show Beneziaās fingers, probably the equivalent of going to a meeting with a few of your top buttons undone to flex on your coworkers.
