So thereās this story lingering in my head that I think I heard a long time ago, and I canāt find it. I wanna paraphrase it here in case anyone can find a lead. Itās about a man who adopts and loves a wild animal despite warnings from everyone around him thatās itās dangerous.
One day, while in the mountain, a hiker met a young injured wolf in the snow. He took it home and began to care for it.
His wife said āWhen that wolf grows up, it will kill youā
āI would love him all the same.ā He wasnāt deterred. He treated its wounds.
His neighbor said āthat wolf is wild! It will kill youā

Years later, he and the wolf were hiking in the mountain, when a blizzard hit. They got lost, and supplies were running out. They were cold and hungry, and while the two were dying, the man blacked out.
After a while, a bit of consciousness returned to him. When he opened his eyes, he saw the wolf was chewing on his side.
āThank god,ā he said. āThank god one of us will get to liveā¦ā
Anyway, thatās how I remember it going. I donāt know what the moral is, and honestly, the moral feels like itās in some grey area. It feels like a story of love no matter what, but it also feels like metaphor for a problematic one sided relationship. Iām sure thereās more nuances to make it more clear from the source material.
