What interests me most about Darlins is how authentic the sisterhood feels and how itβs clearly built on genuine relationships rather than surface-level connections. During my first info session, one moment that truly stood out to me was a conversation I had with one of the Darlinβs, where she spoke openly and vulnerably about her experience. She shared that her Big in Darlins is also her best friend, and the way she talked about that relationship felt so genuine and unforced. It wasnβt just about being in the same organization, it was about support, trust, and choosing each other. That moment made the idea of sisterhood within Darlins feel real and meaningful rather than just a word.
Being a part of the CAP program and coming from a commuter school it was harder to build deep connections, but now as a sophomore at UT Austin I feel I am at the point in my life where I am truly ready to fully invest in a community. I came to UT initially for the academic opportunities, but now Iβm looking for a sisterhood where I can grow personally and socially with women who value authenticity and want to create impactful experiences together. Being a transfer student and being away from my friends and family has pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it has also motivated me to seek out a genuine community of girls who uplift one another. Darlins represents that kind of sisterhood to me β one grounded in authenticity, vulnerability, connection, and shared growth during such an important time in my life.

I would contribute to Darlins through my strong alignment with its service pillar, as service has been a meaningful part of my life long before college. During high school, I would help organize and participate in fundraisers in my community such as Coach to Cure MD, which is inspired by my cousin Jax and other kids who are affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. These efforts helped raise awareness and money to fund research for a cure. This cause fueled my passion for medicine and giving back to underserved and vulnerable populations as a pre-med student. Being part of Darlins would connect me with a group of women who are also committed to serving the greater Austin community, and I am especially excited for the opportunity to participate in service events such as the food bank events Darlins has done in the past.
Sister hood 4life
To me, Darlins represents a sisterhood centered around genuine connections, support, and growing through shared experiences. One event that really showed me this was the Sisterhood Sunset recruitment event. Even though it was absolutely freezing, the atmosphere felt warm, intentional, and it was easy to feel included from the moment you arrived. Sitting outside, talking with the girls, and drinking hot chocolate made the event feel relaxed and more like a real opportunity to connect than a formal recruitment. The speed-dating portion also stood out to me because, despite the time limit, the actives were fully present, asked thoughtful questions, and made an effort to have real conversations. I also noticed how comfortable and close the actives were with one another, which showed how authentic their relationships are. These events showed me that Darlins is not just about joining an organization, but about finding a real sisterhood and community through shared experiences.
The organizations I have been a part of have played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Softball has been a constant in my life, teaching me discipline, resilience, and the importance of teamwork. Beyond playing, I served as an assistant coach for youth and select teams and gave lessons, which showed me the importance of patience, encouragement, and supporting others as they grow. I was also a member of my high schoolβs spirit organization, Stray Cats, where I supported all sports teams and learned the importance of showing up for others, even when I was not the one on the field. Involvement in the National Honor Society and Student Council further reinforced accountability, leadership, and service, but it was softball, combined with my experience in spirit that most shaped my character by teaching me how discipline and support can uplift a team and build a strong community.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to stop seeing my ADHD as something to hide and start seeing it as part of who I am. Growing up, ADHD was often misunderstood, and the stigma around it made me feel like I had to work twice as hard just to keep up. At times, even people close to me werenβt fully supportive, which made it difficult for me to ask for help or speak up when I was struggling. Looking back now, I see that ADHD is actually one of my strengths β it has shaped my creativity, ambition, and ability to think differently. I know this now because of the support of my mom, who validated my diagnosis, encouraged me to accept extra help, and reminded me that needing extra support doesnβt take away from my capability. That acceptance taught me that asking for help is not a failure, but a step towards self-advocacy and growth.

Due to financial reasons I decided to spend my freshman year at UTA instead of starting at UT Austin right away. At the time, it felt like I failed because I didnβt get the traditional freshman experience or the opportunity to build the connections I had pictured for myself. At times, I felt like I was missing out while everyone else was moving forward. However, completing the CAP program taught me resilience and reminded me that setbacks donβt decide where you end up, they just change how you get there. Looking back now as a sophomore at UT, Iβm proud of myself for staying committed to my goals, and Iβve learned that what feels like rejection is often redirection, helping me grow, stay ambitious, and develop a deeper appreciation for community.

If I could plan a sisterhood event, I would create something called βOnce a Darlin, Always a Darlin,β where members write letters to their future selves and open them at graduation. The letters would give us a chance to look back on who we are now, what Darlin's has meant to us, and where we hope to go next. Getting those letters back at graduation would be really special, because it would show how much weβve grown and remind us that the sisterhood doesnβt end when college does. I think this event would be meaningful because it turns shared memories into something lasting and personal.Β
If money and time were no object, I would still pursue my education and goal of becoming a doctor because thatβs what truly excites me β and not having to stress about the cost is an added bonus. Iβd also spend a lot of time traveling, exploring new places, and saying yes to experiences I normally wouldnβt get the opportunity to try. I think those adventures would help me grow into both a better person and a better doctor.
βYou canβt add days to your life, but you can add life to your days.β

If I had to choose one song to be played every time I entered a room it would definitely be No Lie by Sean Paul, ft. Dua Lipa
