âOh damn. That kind of gives away a lot of what the class is going to be about, doesnât it?â Her joking words were mostly a way to divert Alexâs thoughts from her father being called something like that. Finch stood fairly still as she listened, hands moving absently on the cue as she tried to digest everything that Alex was telling her. The thought of not having to turn, not having to be chained up to keep everyone else safe, that sounded like a dream even if it was pretty involved.  âThat sounds like some elitist shit to me - whether they like your family or not, being one of them should still be enough for them to have accepted you.â She knew she was hardly an expert on the world they were discussing, but it was no different than not accepting someone because of who theyâd been born to.  âGo for it,â she smiled, gesturing to the table.
âThe classes arenât all that secret,â she said, trying not to focus on that one thing about her dad. âLike Origins of Species or Magical Agronomy and I didnât take it but the vampires take Your Bloodline and You.â She could keep going but that was a basic idea. âBut it wasnât that lonely, I didnât really mind all that much, I had one person that was like me, one person that I wanted more than anything in the world. My sister and she was... away when I was at the school. Held captive actually, by my aunt. So as much as I wanted all that, I-I wanted her more.â She shrugged. âThe species like keep to themselves, there have wars over it.â Alex set up for the new game and then took away the triangle, before looking up at Finch with a playful smile as she lined up her shot. Before breaking, watching two balls roll into the holes. In another game she might have wished for more, back in her world, she might have playfully knocked another in with her magic. But this wasnât that Finch. And she kind of wanted the game to last. âGuess iâm solids.âÂ
