Here is the ask for the Mari and Roman short if you still need it đđđ
a/n: idk where the hell the inspo to write this came from, but i got to my office an hour early today and finished it in that same hour. words were just flowing. idk. đ thank you, friend, for sending the ask to post this with! đŤśđź warnings: angst words: 2k tags: @jaded-human and @sayyestoheav3nn and @bratzdoll // only tagging ya'll cause idk who else, by name, cares about this world đŤ
His eyes remain glued and focused on her, which is why he catches the glimmer and flash in her eyes in real time. Already knows her unannounced visit is for more than her just wanting to see him.Â
Roman eyes her once more. âWhat is it?â
Mari couldnât hold water even if she tried, but the way she leans up on her toes and bites on her bottom lip, fingers scrunching his shirt, has his curiosity piqued even more. âI have a surprise for you.âÂ
To the best of his abilities, which certainly isnât very difficult, Roman maintains a blank expression. Even as she blinks several times, starting to bounce up and down almost on the heels of her toes. As if whatever said surprise is has her unable to stand still.Â
It takes a lot for him to not remind her for the umpteenth time how much he hates surprises. Something, in his opinion, she should know good and well by now given that some of their nastiest moments have been due to her not respecting that very boundary.Â
But once more, he finds restraint.
âOkayâŚ.â
She giggles happily and leans up to kiss his cheek before prying her body away from his. Roman continues to watch as she leans over to scrummage through her purse. He catches a glimpse of something clear before she turns around, moving her arms behind her as she stands with her front facing him.Â
âRi, whatââ
âAre you ready?â She interrupts, smile wide and broad, showing off almost all of her teeth to the point where the skin around her mouth and jaw is pulled tight and taut. âI know youâre not, but still, like, I have to ask, you know. It sets the tone, or is it the mood?â The question issued to herself is shoved aside as Roman realizes sheâs leaned back at an almost awkward angle, resting most of her weight on his desk. Itâs a position thatâs a recipe for disaster for his accident prone wife, hence why despite his growing, invisible irritation at this drawn out, unnecessary build to a surprise he didnât even ask for, he humors her.
He does so for many reasons. One being to get her upright and out of the danger zone of a freak accident. Most of the reasons, however, revolve around him not knowing how much longer he can hide just how much heâs currently in his head. In his head about her, which is why being around her right nowâŚ.itâs not the best idea.
He doesnât want to be around her.
Not when heâs not sure how to interact with her in a way that wonât result in him saying or doing something thatâll hurt her feelings.Â
âYes,â he finally answers.Â
She giggles again, eyes twinkling before she stands up straight and swings her arms around, revealing the item in hand. âSurprise!âÂ
Naturally, his eyes shift to the item she has hanging and swinging in front of him, almost at eye level from the way her arm is elevated. At first, itâs obvious. A gallon sized ziplock bag, one that, because of its translucent nature, allows him to see exactly whatâs inside. And itâs realizing exactly what that is that completely changes everything. Heâs only seen them a few times, not nearly enough for him to immediately recognize whatâs dangling before him. But he does.
He fucking does.
Roman stares for a good almost fifteen seconds before he lifts his hand and slowly takes the bag from her, head bowed as he continues to stare at it. The cool texture of the bag in his hands, a new sensation, similar to whatever the fuck is coursing through him.Â
âI thought maybeâŚI thought maybe it was a mistake, ya know,â she starts off, and he hears her. He hears her talking. Can even picture the nervous way sheâs probably twiddling with her fingers and making subtle gestures with her head. Sheâs expressive both verbally and non-verbally most of the time. They always go hand in hand. âSo I took another one, and then anotherâweâre like totally out of cranberry juice, by the wayâworks great to help you piss, if you didn't knowâbutâŚ.yeah....âŚ.as you can see, i took a few more after the other few.â
8.
He counts eight of them. All staring back at him with the same two bolded, strong pink lines.Â
Itâs only then that Roman lifts his head and breaks his transfixed gaze.
As expected, heâs met with that same big, happy smile from before. Itâs never felt like a more uncomfortable, inappropriate greeting. âYouâre pregnant?â
She squeals and steps forward, hands on his forearm. âIâm pregnant.â Â
And just like that, what started out as a stressful, confusing day just reached a new level he didnât even know one could reach.Â
Fuck.Â
As thoughts, emotions, and everything else swirl within, the cool item in hand suddenly, significant warmer, hot to the point where he wants to chuck it to the side, Mariella remains unmoved, still staring up at him.Â
However, an almost minute into his shock fueled silence is when her demeanor starts to shift.
âAreâare you gonna say something?âÂ
Yes. No. Perhaps. Who the fuck knows.
Roman has never considered himself a person whoâs easily frazzled. Ever. And while he wouldnât categorize his current state as frazzled, he certainly doesnât know what the fuck is going on right now. Within. Around. None of it.
All he knows is his world just fucking changed entirely in the span of five minutes with a single bag of life altering items.
And his silence continues to penetrate through and dissolve Mariellaâs obvious excitement. She chuckles quietly, almost awkwardly. âWellâŚ.donâtâdonât say it all at once.â
He looks at her once more, and itâs then that something escapes him. Unintentional and something heâd never allow to bypass him if not for whatever has him emotionally paralyzed.Â
âShit.â
Whatever remained of Mariâs smile is instantly wiped away at a single word.Â
She drops her hands from his arm, looking away, the confusion meshed and bleeding all over her face. âIâI donât understand.â While her initial statement is directed more to herself than him, the latter is inarguably said for and to him, as she brings her gaze back to him. âIâI thought youâd be happy.âÂ
Happy.
Just hearing it stirs up irritation and aggravation. He doesnât know what that even means or feels like anymore. He thought heâd started to feel it with her, but that doesnât make any sense when juxtaposed to the irritation and avoidance that always accompanies her. How can someone both make you happy and annoy you at the same time? They canât co-exist.Â
They donât.Â
But for him, they do, and on top of that is the overwhelming, most confounding emotion of them all.Â
Love
âYou need to go to the doctor,â he instructs, and even Roman canât deny the sudden, jarring harsh tone of his voice. âGet it confirmed for sure.â
She blinks, voice even softer than before as she weakly gestures to the bag. âIsâŚis eight positive tests not enough?â
âObviously not,â he snaps.Â
The dagger is just dug and twisted deeper, on both ends, as he witnesses the drop of her shoulders. The falter of her lips and undeniable forlorn countenance that feels like itâs seeped out and bled into the room. Turned his office into this space of deep thoughts and even bigger, heavier emotions and truths. But of course, itâs only as he witnesses the consequences of his actions, of his inability to figure out his shitâand feelingsâthat the regret starts to creep in.
âMarââ
âNothing,â she whispers, head dropped, her voice barely above an octave. âNothing will ever be enough, will it?â Mariella lifts her head and points to her chest, her voice cracking halfway through. âI will never be enough.â
And now Roman is the one whose shoulders drop as he lowers his hand, the bag dangling at his side. âMarââ
âDo youâdo you have any idea what it feels like to try your absolute hardest to do anything and everything you can to make someone happy, to try to make the best of a terrible situation, toâto try to maybe, just maybe, get them to feel even a fraction of what you feel for them?â With each word that leaves her mouth, hurt gradually mutates into anger. But itâs the glossing of her eyes that has his focus, attention, and concern locked.Â
He attempts to step towards her. âMarieââ
âNo!â She shouts, jumping back. Her hands lifting, defensively, as if protecting herself from him makes that weight in the back of his throatâand on his chestâstrengthen. âIâIâve tried so hard to make you happy. To do whatever I can to make this work. To make us work. And itâs like every time I think weâre getting somewhere, you remind me that no matter what Iâd like to believe or want to believe, it doesnât change the fact that you donât want me, you never did want me, and you never will.â
Roman canât recall a previous time where heâs ever so strongly disagreed with something, but any attempt to disavow her accusation is lost amongst the way she continues to spiral. The tears leaking down her face as the anger undergoes another transformation. Hurt. Sheâs so fucking hurt.
And itâs all his fault.Â
She looks up, shaking her head, jaw trembling as the tears continue to flow in tandem with the way she's pouring her heart out to him. âIâve done the one thing that you married me for. The only thing that you married me for and stillâŚ..nothing.âÂ
Fuck. âMariella, pleââ
âYou have no idea what itâs like toâto love someone the way that I love youâunapologetic and without restraintâonly for you to see nothing more than a burden and a necessity when you look at me.â Another sob breaks though as she once again points to her chest. âIt hurts, Roman. It fucking hurts, and Iâm so tired of feeling this way.â
Another attempt to close the distance between them is met with another act of resistance. She backs away again as he tries to draw near.
âAnd I wonât let you hurt our baby the way youâve hurt me.âÂ
Everything thatâs left her mouth the past however many minutes have passed have penetrated deeper than anything else thatâs ever been said to and towards him, but that last sentenceâŚ.itâs immobilizing.Â
âWhat do youââ
âYou can dislike or hate me as much as you want, but I wonât let you treat this baby that way,â she enforces, wiping at her eyes as she reaches for her purse. Another look towards him and another gleam of surrender, her voice riddled with cracks. âI wonât let you break his or her heart the way you broke mine.âÂ
The unfiltered, raw words and confessions escaping from the deepest part of his wifeâs soul should be enough to thaw away the ice that keeps him frozen where he stands. Should be enough to melt at least some portion of the frostbite thatâs consumed the jagged, sharp edges around his heart for almost thirty years.Â
If not longer.
The only thing he hates more than seeing and hearing how much heâs hurt her is knowing that her sentiments are fueled by inaccurate belief systems. Her feelings are 100% valid, but the reasoning and thoughts that support her feelings are 100% wrong.
Roman doesnât hate Mariella.Â
He loves her. He loves her, but he doesnât know what to do with that. Doesnât know how to express that. Doesnât know how to knock down the barrier that prevents him from expressing that. And he damn sure doesnât even know how to begin to wade through all the unprocessed shit that keeps him from even knowing how to love her.
He just knows what he feels.
If only he could tell her as much.
But even as she turns to walk away, stands still near the door after she reaches for the knob, as if waiting for him to say something, to stop her, he doesnât.
She just leaves.Â
And itâs as heâs left with the blaring, torturous silence of his own self-induced, self-induced misery, Roman canât shake the feeling that heâs just made the worst mistake of his life.
Like what just occurred between them wasnât the climax.
It was the precursor.Â

It began the same way it always did. Two flush bodies strewn across a disheveled bed and wrapped in damp sheets of their own making. The room lit with the soft glow of a muted television. Though heâd promised to stay awake and engage with the film, the man behind her was watching nothing but the darkness behind his eyelids.
Soft snores gave him away. Though with any small movement they would reopen, and he would pretend to know what she was referencing whenever her soft voice filtered into his ears. He pretends not to hear her the first time, unwilling to engage in the same tired argument theyâd had time and time again.
Eyes fully alert, he stares at the back of her head until the messy array of curls became the soft glisten of her previously perspiring forehead, and her hooded eyes fill his vision. The pacifying swipes of her fingers along the length of his nose lull him into a false sense of serenity â until she tries again.
âDid you hear me?â she utters, leaving closed mouth kisses along his cheeks.
âHmmâ is the only response he grants her, hoping she would accept his feigned exhaustion in exchange for avoiding this conversationâagain.
âIâll take that as a no then,â she mumbles, flopping onto her back on the other side of the bed, pulling the sheets high over her bare skin, concealing herself from him.
âWhy do we have to do this every time?â
âJust drop it.â She deadpans.
Sucking his teeth, he rises from his reclined position. He throws his legs over the side of the bed and reaches for his forgotten undergarments. All the while, she keeps her eyes cemented on the tv not wanting to give him the satisfaction. The sound of the bathroom door clicking shut brings tears to her eyes, and she stares straight up at the ceiling to keep them from falling. She would never let him see her cry over something so trivial.
When he returns, heâs fully dressed, and she can smell the mint toothpaste lingering in the air from where he freshened up. The same toothpaste that sat next to his toothbrush that heâd begun leaving behindâalong with a plethora of other hygiene products.
âI donât want to fight with you every time, Jireh.â
âNobody is fighting you.â Still refusing to look his way, she opts for scrolling through the channels, anything to keep her mind occupied just until he walks out that door.
âWeâve talked about this; I told you from the beginningâ"
âThat you would never stay, I got it.â
âYou knew what this was when we first startedââ
âYeah, I got itââ
âI donât do this shit, and you know that.â he gestures back and forth between them. The quick roll of her head feels predatory when she finally lifts her eyes to his.
âYouâre dragging it. I said I got itâŚyou wanna go so bad, then goâŚ.wasting time standing here.â
âDonât act like I beg to be here, JirehâDonât act like you didnât call me to come here today.â
âWhat are you even talking about?â She rolls her eyes. âYouâre just saying anythingâdonât act like you donât show up here whenever you feel like it. I asked you one simple questionââ
âThat you know the answer to, you sitting over there with an attitudeââ
âNobody has a fucking attitude! You came out here talking to me!â
âBecause you keep pushing!â
âNobody is bothering you! I asked you a questionââ
âAnd you already knew the answer, and still every time you ask anyway.â
âAlright, just go, Iâm not doing this with you,â waving her hand in dismissal, raising his hackles even further.
âYou want me to go?â
âYes.â
âBetâŚsee if I come back.â Whipping the blankets from her body, she stands nude as the day she was born, stalking off toward the ensuite. Ripping her robe off the hook and hastily tying the knot a bit too snug around her waist.
âOh fucking boy, here you goâŚyou treat this like a fucking whore house coming and going as you please and I ask one question, and youâre bent outta shape,â he cocks his head back as if sheâd slapped him. Insulted by her accusationâthough he knew she wasnât far from the truth.
âA whore house? Jireh, please,â grabbing for his items strewn across the bedside table, he canât get out of her home quick enough.
âJust go, Iâm literally not doing this with you today.â
âIâm gone then.â
Leaning against the door to the bedroom, she watches him pull the thick black hoodie heâd arrived in over his head and once again depart from her life. Sheâd lost track of how many times theyâd had this same spat.
The moment the door slams closed, the tears run over. She knew she shouldnât have asked, knew the result would be the same as every time prior. Whenever she hears those soft snores escaping his chest, she hopes that maybe this time would be different, maybe heâd finally accepted that sheâd wanted him there. She slept better whenever he was around, even if it was just for the few hours he rested his head. Heâd begun taking short naps in her home, before waking and leaving in the night, sometimes without even alerting her.
The embarrassment sheâd felt finding him missing, after falling asleep curled next to him, was enough to leave her in tears time and time again.
ę§ŕźşđ đđđŤđŽđđŤđ˛ đđŕźťę§
Their usual tiffs often had a predetermined three day life cycle.
Day one is reserved for wallowing. Day two is when the messages and calls start rolling in. Him wanting to apologize. Her deeming their contention as frivolous and putting on her best sultry voice to entice him. Day three: he shows up at her door, apology gifts in tow, and they have sex to wash away any lingering tension.
Occasionally it strays to four days. Only once has it ever strayed to five⌠Seven whole days without communication is unheard of, and with each passing day the coil in her gut springs tighter.
Sitting at her kitchen island, the clang of her spoon in her steaming mug of tea accompanies the semi hypnotic state sheâs found herself in. Staring into the vortex sheâd created in her cup, her thoughts continue to spiral into oblivion.
Her plate of forgotten food sits pushed away from her, the smell making her queasier than the idea that he could be out sleeping with other women. They werenât technically in a relationship, though if she hadnât slept with anyone besides him for the last year, she was inclined to believe that she deserved the same respect. She has no evidence to accompany her accusations, just the continued lack of his presence to fuel her jealous ideations.
A sharp rap that sheâd become accustomed to draws her attention. A firm thing, daring her to ignore its presenceâand she does try.
Until he does it again and she knows that if she doesnât answer, heâll start slamming his big fistârattling her door until she has no choice but to greet him or welcome the noise complaints from her otherwise pleasant neighbors.
The clean cut of freshly lined jaw hair is the first thing she lays eyes on.
âCan I come in?â
âDepends.â
âOn?â
âWhat do you want?â he says nothing but casts his eyes down to draw her attention to his full hands. Itâs then that she notices the freshly cut hydrangea bouquets and white paper bag in his hand. Hesitantly stepping aside, she presses herself against the door frame in an attempt not to graze against the smooth skin of his exposed arms.
Trailing behind him, she watches as he opens and closes cabinets. Filling vases with tap water and dishing up food onto plates. The smell wafting up her nose reveals her usual lunch order from the little cafe around the corner. Grilled chicken and pesto. No tomato, sub the roll for sourdough. Kale salad as the side.
Sheâd eaten this same meal plenty of times over, and of course he knew it by heart because thereâd been a plethora of occasions where theyâd sat at this very kitchen island and ate it together. The perplexity of it all makes her scoff, and for the first time since his arrival she locks eyes with his.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she makes her way back over to the island, cleaning up the breakfast that she surely wouldnât be eating at that point. Languidly washing her dishes, she has no plans to acknowledge his hovering behind her. Itâs when she turns to grab the towel hanging from the handle of her stove that she realizes just how close heâs standing.
Beating her to it, he seizes the towel and holds it just out of her reach, stepping forward once more to cage her in between the sink and his arms.
Water runs down her wrists, trickling onto the floor when he scoops up her hands, dragging the towel agonizingly slow from base to tip of each of her fingers. Drying her hands and keeping her trapped in his orbit.
âIâm sorry.â
âThatâs what you always say.â She grumbles, trying to pull away, but the grip he has on her is firm.
âAnd I always mean it. I shouldnât have snapped at you like that.â
âAnd yet you did.â
âJi, Iâmâ"
âFor somebody that doesnât do this shit,â she flexes her fingers in the air, âyou sure do know your way around my house pretty well.â Gesturing toward the freshly placed flowers and chilling food on the countertop.
Clenching his jaw, he never shifts his gaze from her own. âIâm sorryâŚand Iâll keep saying it until you believe me.â
âBelieve you? We repeat this same stupid ass cycle over and over and over again; why would I ever believe you?â
âDo I not always come back?â
âWell, stop coming back if this is all weâre ever gonna do! What good is you coming back if you never stay?â pushing at his chest, she slips from in between him and the counter. âI meant what I said⌠You come and go as you please and act like Iâm supposed to just jump for joy every time you show back up.â
âI wanna take you somewhere.â His abrupt statement makes her scrunch her nose up.
âThe fuck? Oh please, you always come up in here with that sugar talking shit thinking itâs gonna fix everything.â
Arms flailing around as she curses him, her voice trails deeper into the apartment, and he follows it like a moth to a flame. He finds her in the bathroom, aggressively tidying up the already clean space, knowing that sheâs doing anything to keep her hands busy.
âIâm serious...I keep telling you that Iâm trying⌠and this is me keeping my wordâ
âI havenât talked to you in an entire week, and you show up here asking to âtake me somewhere,â and Iâm supposed to just agree?â
âWellâŚyes.â
âYouâre serious?â
âAs a heart attack.â
ââŚFine, letâs say I humor you and go somewhere,â again she raises her hands in those mocking air quotes, and by now his patience is razor thin. âWhere would we go?â
âI canât tell youâ
âGet out.â She pushes at his chest.
Jumping to embrace her, once again he corrals her in between him and the counter.
âIâm serious. I want to take you somewhere, and I want you to trust that I mean it when I say Iâm trying to do better.â
ââŚI just canât âpush youââŚeverything has to be on your time, right?â
Choosing to ignore her jab, he resorts to begging. âPlease, Ji?" he nuzzles into the side of her neck, leaving tender nibbles. âpleaseeeeeeeeeâ
âOh my god⌠fineâŚmove away from me!â
Continuing to plant kisses along her face and neck, the sound of her resolved giggling spurs him on.
âGimme a kissâ
âOh, hell no⌠you freak,â raising a hand to mush his face away, sheâs still unable to escape his grasp.
âGimme a kiss!â he slams a palm against the plush flesh of her ass, sending her into a fit of giggles.
âIâm not giving you a kiss; you donât deserve it!â she manages through full blown laughter.
âWhatâs a man gotta do to get some love around here?â he whines, finally releasing her into the open space of her bedroom.
âBehave,â she calls over her shoulder, heading back to ingest the meal that heâd bought with him.
âI can do thatâŚâ The tone of his voice is suggestive, and she turns her nose up when he tickles at the skin along her hips.
Swiping away his worming fingers, she chides him for being âso nastyâ. Planting an open mouthed smooch along her jaw, he swats at her ass once more, âhurry up girl, we got places to be!â
ââ
She wasnât sure what to expect when he told her that he was adamant to make amends for their last quarrel. Their first stop being an Ulta Beauty was not even in her realm of possibility. As far as she knew, this store didnât even exist in his psyche.
Prompting her to get whatever she wanted may have been a misstep on his part, and yet he didnât bat an eye while she loaded up the neon orange shopping bag that looked minuscule against his beefy frame.
She repurchases each step of her daily routine and procures a few new items that sheâd had her eye on. When he suggested she venture into the haircare section, she couldnât help but be suspicious. Years of meltdowns when styling her curly meant that as soon as she had enough money, she found the best natural hair salon in her vicinity, and her biweekly hair appointments had been a staple in her routine for the last decade.
One full shopping bag turned into 2 oversized bags of purchases, and her body cringed when the total appeared on the small screen. Back in the car, she has half a mind to make a snarky remark about him buying her favor, yet she keeps quiet, not wanting to jeopardize her multiple boxes of new Burberry perfume. Itâs the least he can do.
The first missed turn he makes on the way back to her home, she brushes off; perhaps they were making another stop. Then he misses another, and another, until theyâre on the open highway headed the complete opposite direction of her downtown penthouse.
âWhere exactly are we going?â
âYouâll see.â He shuts down her line of questioning, never even turning his head from the road.
When the private plane sheâd ridden on a plethora of times comes into her line of vision, her mind formulates so many questions that her mouth opens and closes multiple times before settling on one.
âWhat are we doing here?â
âI told you I wanted to take you somewhereâ
âAnd we went, and you bought me all this stuff⌠never once did you mention a plane.â
He grabs for her raised hands, pulling one over to his mouth to plant a lingering kiss. âChill, okâŚ. just trust me.â
âI donât even have luggage⌠am I supposed to just be naked the whole time weâre at wherever weâre going?â
âI wouldnât mind.â She rolls her eyes at his crudeness.
â... And I have work tomorrowâyou have work tomorrowâ
âHandled that.â
âRoman, seriously, where are we going?â
âSomewhere nice.â Â He sing songs.
She huffs, shaking her head, and turns her body away from his. âI swear to god⌠if I end up on the fucking news,â she points her slim finger into his face. Heâs unfazed and attempts to chomp at the tip of it, causing her to swat at him. âGrab my stuff!â she hollers, forcing the car door open. When greeted by the flight attendants and airport staff, she leaves him behind to stomp up the stairs.
She opts to play on her phone instead of engaging in the smirks and jests heâd been sending her way. The first half of the flight is rather uneventful until he has enough of being ignored. Making his way over to her and sliding right up behind her on the long window framed couch. Lifting the shade, he prompts her to take a look, and though sheâs traveled time and time againâ the water beneath them is the bluest sheâs ever seen.
Resting his chin on her shoulder, he plants two sweet kisses along the length of her jaw. He doesnât say much else, and she lets herself relax against him for the duration of their time in the sky.
The flight attendant comes around a few minutes before landing, prompting them to buckle into their seats.
Wrapping his arm around her waist, his thumb glides along the exposed skin of her abdomen. âRemember last year at the hotel in London⌠I asked if you could go anywhere, where would it be?â
âI remember,â she whispers, not wanting to break their small bubble of peace.
ââŚAnd I told you that Hawaii felt like homeâŚâ
âYeahâ
ââŚAnd what did you tell me?â his soothing voice probed further
âThat when I was young my family went to Turks and Caicos, and I didnât get to go because I had the flu.â
âmmmhmmmâ
Leaning further into him, she tilts her face toward his. âIs that where weâre going?â she wonders in disbelief.
âWould that make you happy?â
ââŚ. yeahâ
âGood.â Pressing a kiss to the top of her head, itâs the last thing he says before they begin their descent.
ââ
Upon arrival, a short brown skinned man awaits them, with a handwritten âwelcome to Turks and Caicosâ sign. She canât contain the joy on her face. On the ride to their accommodation, she rolls down the windows and takes in the smell of the ocean around them, the sound of the waves lulling her into serenity.
Waiting for them at the entrance of their beachfront villa are two large suitcases. One black and the other a soft lilac. He wastes no time grabbing for the one that she knows belongs to him, rolling it in and toward the bedroom.
Her lack of preparation and his lack of answers to her questions leave her eyeing the bag in perplexity. âHow long are we going to be here?â she calls after him.
âSeven days,â he responds as if heâd just told her that the weather was nice. Noticing her still rooted in place near the entrance. He meanders up to her, using one hand to grab for her and the other to grab the handle of what she presumes is her suitcaseâthough sheâs clueless to what it contains.
Leading her into the lavish bedroom, she again stands stock still at the entrance.
âIâm confused,â she confesses, eyes darting around.
Turning to stare at her for a long moment, his eyes gleam with barely concealed emotion. Sitting back onto the plush bed, he beckons her forward.
Stepping up between his legs, she allows his arms to encircle her waist and hers around his neck.
âWhy did you bring me here?â she mutters. The long pause he takes before answering leaves the hairs down her spine standing at attention.
âYou always say that I never stayâŚwellâŚcanât get rid of me now.â Caressing the loose hairs down the back of his neck, she lets his words linger. This is what sheâs wanted, what sheâd been asking him for, for months on end, and yet she canât help but feel unease welling up in her chest.
âNow,â he prompts, trailing his hands to squeeze the flesh of her ass, âGet ready for dinner, Iâm hungry.â Playfully he chomps at the meat on her belly and once again leaves her standing in the middle of the floor, trailing away as if this was still just a regular day at the office.
Unzipping the suitcase reveals a variety of garmentsâall of which still hold their purchase tags. She knows this bag was packed by him given the neat squares that each article of clothing is folded in, down to the range of bikinis that cover frivolous amounts of skin, fabric pieces so small that sheâs sure to be arrested for donning them anywhere else but on this private beach.
Sundresses and the skimpiest pajamas sheâs ever laid eyes on await her at the bottom of the bag, and when she lifts a pair of teal lace underwear toward her face, she feels like Bella Swan on her honeymoon. The thought has her slamming the case closed. Cheeks hot and rushing to the shower, where she finds her freshly purchased body care already lined up and waiting.
ââ
Though she is grateful for her job, constant travel leaves her longing for days like this. Her companion may have been the cause of her emotional duress the week prior, but today heâd been nothing but a true gentleman.
The beachfront restaurant is quaint and, from the looks of it, has been rented out by the man adjacent to her. The soft local music playing through distant speakers paired with her third rum punch of the day has her feeling relaxed enough to blow away with the wind.
So relaxed that she ogles him from across the table without a care for repercussions. The soft cream fabric of the polo he wears clings to his already tanning skin. The humidity in the air causes the short strands around the front of his head to puff and blow in the wind. Reaching a hand to smooth the sleek strands atop his head, the kiss he plants on her wrist sends her hand sliding lower to caress the neatly trimmed hairs of his beard around his lips.
Trailing her eyes down further, she lets them linger on the protruding vein running from the top of his arms down to his wrist thatâs wrapped in a black Rolexâ she refuses to ask the price. Each time he raises the tumbler of rum to his lips, their eyes meet, and sheâs sure her cheeks are red as the lobster shells in front of them.
When he excuses himself to the restroom, she takes the time to enjoy the scenery. At the end of peak tourist season, the crowd surrounding the area is sparse. For the first time since landing eyes on him that morning, she has time to think about the events of the day.
For months theyâd had the same fight, and each and every time heâd tell her the same thing: that he was trying, that he needed time, that she couldnât rush him. Yet here they were on a private island drinking rum and eating lobster without her having to even ask. She scoffs in disbelief. Just this morning she was considering never speaking to him again, and now here she was clenching her thighs at the sight of him sitting across from her. It was a reeling feeling. He was just so confusing. So unpredictable. Waking up every morning, she never knew what the day would entail with him, and yet she craved it all the same.
The feeling of heat atop her head pulls her from her stupor.
âI can hear the wheels turning in your head,â he murmurs into her ear, hot breath sending goosebumps down her arms and back. âWhatâs going on in that mind?â
Instead of verbalizing her response, she hunches closer, planting a searing kiss upon his lips. Inhaling the mint from the gum atop his tongue she lets her forehead rest against his for a moment. The slight hitch in his breath catches her attention, and when her eyes lock with his, she can see the hunger in his gaze.
âThank you for bringing me here,â she murmurs against his lips, leaving another kiss along the corner of his mouth before a hand along the back of her neck guides her away. Staring down into her face, he lifts his other hand, running rough pads along the plush of her plump lips. Dragging the bottom down and letting it pop back into place.
Footsteps approaching their table force them to separate. Though they just ate, paying the bill puts her right in the hands of a man starved.
The thrum of rum in her veins fills her with a sultry sense of anticipation. His usual private demeanor is thrown out the window thanks to the buzz coursing through him; the entire ride back, their bodies stayed connected in one way or another. Thighs flush. Hands gripping onto exposed flesh. Lips colliding in kisses that were far too steamy for public consumption. Â
There's a trail of forgotten clothing leading from the front door to the misty cloud forming in the steaming bathroom. When theyâd arrived back to the room, sheâd leaned up on her toes, whispering in his ear about how âdirtyâ she was and that she needed his help getting cleaned up.
The slide of his palms along her slick frame did nothing to quell the residual ache. With each caress closer to her center, she pulsed and squeezed around nothing, waiting to be filled. His hand around her jaw brings her back to the present. His body flush against hers allows her to feel every inch of him twitching and pushing against her ass.
One hand on her throat and the other teasing the slits of her pussy, raises groans from flushed and parted lips. Turning her head to the side, his tongue swoops down upon her. Slanting his lips against hers, she puts up no resistance while his tongue explores the insides of her mouth. When his middle finger dips in between her sodden folds, his parted lips devour her breathy gasps.
One finger turned to two, and then two became three, pumping in and out of her with little remorse. The palm of his hand grounding against her clit with each drag. If it weren't for his grip around her neck, she may have keeled over.
She can feel him grinding his hips against her, and with each particularly hard curl of his wrist, the extra force propels her back into him.
Working his way down from her neck, he takes the time to fondle and twist at her nipples. Reaching his final destination at her navel, he presses down onto her stomach. Between him bouncing her off of his hips and curling his fingers so deep into her, her body has no choice but to release the built up tension.
âLet that shit out,â her growls into her ear. continuing to rut his fingers into her despite the shaking overwhelming her frame.
Gripping onto his wrist, she uses all her will to push his hand free. Slumping over into the tile in front of her. The cool wall grounds her, yet his hips still grind and bounce against her ass. Each swing of his heavy balls sends shocks through her core. The hand she reaches back to press against his abdomen is brushed away.
Pulling her upright, he turns and bends her over the bench at the far side of the shower. Opting to thrust his heavy member between her glistening lips as opposed to grinding it against her spread ass. Slamming his palm down each time her hips meet his, squeezing her thighs together to keep him tucked close between her folds. With each thrust, he catches at her clit, and she can feel another release building from the pits of her stomach.
She must have clenched too hard because he pulls his length from her, letting it rest in the air between them. Catching one of her cheeks, he pulls her lips apart, watching the strings of slick that kept her lips sealed around him spread down her thighs.
âLook at this shit,â he murmurs, sliding two fingers through the mess. He lands one open palmed smack against her center before pulling her upfront and hauling her frame out of the shower.
Tossing her on the edge of the bed, he resumes his previous action by tenfold. Pulling her ass flush against his hips, he creases her legs to her chest. Dropping his heavy dick against chubby folds and watching them bounce upon impact. Sliding back and forth tortuously slow. He captures her lips with his own, sucking and sending new spirals of ecstasy through her.
Though her body was on fire since he'd cornered her in the shower, heâd yet to push into where she needed him most. Attempting to take matters into her own hands, she reaches down to catch him between trembling fingers. Giving it one good squeeze before lifting her hips and attempting to slide him home. He catches her wrist, freezing their bodies in motion.
ânoooo pleaseâ she whines into the humid air between them.
âfuck.â he murmurs, not in arousal but what sounds like irritation. Opening her eyes to fully glance at his face, she finds his head dipped low into his chest.
Raising her hand to caress his jaw, she draws his attention to her. Exhaling a deep breath, he lifts further away from her. Her brow creases with worry.
âWhat'sââ
âI don't have any condoms,â he pants out, barely holding on to his resolve. âFucking forgot.â
Though they'd been sleeping together for quite some time, protected sex was something sheâd always insisted upon.
Right now, she couldnât care less.
âPut it in.â
His mouth snaps shut at her request, dropping his forehead to hers, âbabyââ
âpleaseâplease I don't care..I need it... please,â she whines eyes clenched as if she were in pain.
âYou need it?â he confirms, lifting back up to hold his weight over her. Her head bobbles against the bed.
âYou want it?â he asks again, resuming his sliding against her folds. Too engrossed in the feeling, all she can do is nod once more.
âuh-uh, open your mouth,â he demands, lifting his hand to the juncture of her jaw, squeezing her cheeks together.
âYou want this, yes or no?â
âpleaseââ âyes. or. no.â
â..f-fuckâyess âjust..please,â she groans in agony, slapping her palms against his chest.
âPut it in,â he orders, and she wastes no time sheathing him inside of her. Pushing all the way until their hips are flush, and all the air is stolen from her lungs. Her mouth hangs open in a silent scream.
He pulls all the way out before dipping back in. With each drop into her, his body coils tighter. He was no religious man, but he was sure that this was the closest to heaven he would ever get. With each thrust of his hips, she lifts her own to meet him, eyes locked onto their colliding hips with a delirious gaze. He can feel her getting closer when she begins clenching down on him, so hard that he sees stars.
Pulling out, he stumbles back, clenching his eyes and gripping the base in hopes of controlling his own release. Heâs unsure of how long he stands there, just that the swipe of a tongue across the head of his dick sends his eyes flying open hissing out from sensitivity.
Now on her hands and knees, eyes clouded over and gazing up at him as if he was water in a scorching desert, she suctions her lips together around the head, letting his hips slide the length of him in and out of her mouth.
Pulling him out, she extends her tongue, dragging it from the tip down to the base where his hand still rests. Licking at the salty essence of his sweaty palms. Dipping lower to plant kisses on his clenched balls.
The length of him sliding and resting along her head sends a shiver up his spine, and he can't hold back the yelp when he cums against his own fruition.
âfuck!â he shouts, gasping for breath, gripping the hair at the base of her neck to pull her hooded glazed eyes skyward. She never ceases her movements. Flattening her tongue, sliding it back and forth over the tip of him to collect the warm essence.
ânasty as fuckâ he grits out when he can finally form the words. Reaching behind her to land a searing slap in between her thighs.
âturn your ass around,â he growls down at her. Crawling into the center of the bed, she lowers her head, raising her ass sky high, swaying it back and forth.
He takes the time to mush his face against her core, tasting the mixture of her essence. Before he grips her hips and pushes her flat to the plush bedding.
Dropping down into her and forcing a grunt past her lips. Heâs relentless, rutting into her. Laying his entire weight over her body, he drops his head to nuzzle into the crevice of her neck. Her head rests against the arms folded around her, and he thinks he can feel drool pooling in between the creases.
âTalk to me,â he coos, slowing his thrusts to a slow whine into her.
âYou with me?â Her only response is a barely there nod.
âuh-uh... use them words... you feel me?â squeezing at her jaw, forcing her to speak.
â..fuck⌠yesâ is her breathy reply
âYes, what?â he groans low into her ear.
âI feel you, babyâ
âYou gonna cum?â Another nod. âI can't hear you, mama... you cumming?â
The bearing down around him replaces her response. He can feel her body pull taught underneath him, and the quivering of her lips still being spread wide around him lets him know that she's on her way over the edge. Slinking a hand between their bodies, he rubs tight circles around her already pulsing clit.
Rolling them onto their sides, he keeps pumping his hips lazily in and out of her, pawing and squeezing at her skin until he hears her let out a gasping breath. He doesn't pull out until the rapid rise and fall of her chest evens and her body slackens against him.

The sun shining overhead leaves beads of sweat trailing down the skin of her abdomen even from where she lay lounged under the bright blue villa umbrella. The most recent bead leaves a trail down her chest and into the middle of her breasts, and sheâs sure she can feel his eyes tracking its journey down her body.
She can still feel his bruising grip on her body from the night, and though the beach is empty aside from them, if anyone were to look closely at the array of small shapes along her inner thighsâthey would line up in the expanse of large hands. The same large hands that keep reaching over to âadjustâ the bikini she wears.
The bright yellow of the material clashes nicely against the bronze of her tanning skin. Just enough coverage to conceal her intimate bits, but even the slightest of movement dares to reveal what the public shouldn't see.
â I think I can feel your eyes on me more than the sun,â she speaks into the space between them. Instead of lying parallel to her, he provided himself a front row view, turning his chair to face the length of her. He sits with his legs spread wide, beer bottle resting in the opening between them.
She would be a liar to say she hadnât also been stealing glances at his exposed chest. The way he sits, bunching the fabric of his green swim trunks, barely concealing what she knows lies underneath.
âIâm just knowing how you feel about tan lines.â Lifting her large sunglasses to the top of her head, she props herself to rest on her elbows, and his eyes immediately dart to the movement at her chest.
âThereâs a slim chance of being worried about tan lines in this little ass bikini,â she snarks.
He lifts the bottle to his lips, taking a long tantalizing sip, and the blush on her cheeks can obviously only be from the blazing sun.
Resting the bottle on the small wooden table next to him, he raises his hand in a beckoning motion. When she raises her brow, he lifts the small blue can of sunscreen from the mesh bag they'd brought along with them.
âCome on, you don't want wrinkles,â he teases. Rolling her eyes, she concedes. Lifting her body from her chair and standing beside his. The cool spray along her legs sends shivers down her spine, and they only intensify when he meticulously lifts each side of her bottoms to place the sunscreen along the sensitive line of her hips.
She squeals when she's ensnared by corded arms and drug down into his lap to straddle him. Continuing to spray and massage the cool liquid into her skin, her breath hitches when his thumbs graze the front opening of her bottoms. His hands move slower up and around her abdomen until the edges of his middle and pointer fingers drag along the bottom of her breasts.
His palms continue their journey up her body, cupping her bust, lifting the flesh with a squeeze before letting them gently rest back along her chest.
Grabbing onto his wrists, she squeezes, sliding higher up his arms before wrapping around his neck. He continues to caress and spread the fluid around her back and shoulders before reaching the top of her bikini. Fiddling with the knot sheâd had him tie extra tight that morning.
âYou're naughty, Mr,â she whispers into his ear. Pulling her body closer, their lower halves collide, and both parties take a grounding breath.
âgotta get the rest of this area,â he murmurs, sliding a hand between them to cup her breasts once more. Squeezing at the hardened peaks through the scant fabric. âWould be much easier if you just took this off,â he squeezes again, and her moan is poorly concealed into his shoulder.
âWeâre in public,â she berates.
âAin't nobody out here but us,â he promises, rocking her forward once more. This time her moan is caught between his parted lips, and he ensnares her in a colliding of tongues, rocking her hips back and forth atop his. Soft groans being passed back and forth between them.
Reclining his body back into the chair, his palms glide up and down her spine. Tugging and pulling at heated skin. Her fingers fist into the low bun at the nape of his neck. Tugging at the root when one glide puts a bit too much pressure on her core. She can feel his fingers fiddling with the knot, and just as heâs about to release it, the sound of glasses clinking sends her shooting up. The sudden movement sends his hips bucking skyward.
Approaching was their waiter, John. No older than 40 and the only other person theyâd interacted with since their feet hit the sand. His cheerful smile is none the wiser to the crime heâd almost discovered, and when he delivers their refills, heâs oblivious enough to offer to take a photo of their âromantic momentâ.
She begins to object, mortification spreading through her veins like wildfire. He, however, does not. Sitting up and reaching into the mesh bag with their belongings, he pulls out his phone, handing it to the man before flushing their bodies together. Still perched atop his lap, she smiles for the photo and forces Roman to tip him extra for his âtroublesâ.
She ensures heâs out of earshot before smacking a hand down onto her lover's chest. âAin't nobody out here but us,â she mocks in a deep voice. Pushing up and away from him to retreat back into her own chairânot without a swat to the butt from him.
âheâs gone now. We can pick up right where we left off,â he reminds her.
âUgh, as if. I'm not going to jail for you,â she replies, shaking her towel off before laying it back flat onto the cushion. Before she can lie down, she notices him rising from the corner of her eye, quietly getting closer.
âOh yeah,â he challenges
âYeah,â she snarks, spinning around to face him.
The moment his hand snatches out, she's off, running toward the water with him hot on her heels. He easily catches up to her, scooping her up from the ground, and her laughter is drowned out by him dunking their bodies into the frigid ocean.

The morning started just as the last one had. Sheâd awoken surrounded by the heat of his body, housing small aches from their previous night's activities. Breakfast preordered and delivered by room service. Though this time, her fruits and butter disks were cut into the shape of a heart.
She considered it a cute quirk from the staff, until she read the small card lining the trayâwishing them a happy Valentine's Day. While he snoozed away in the ruffled bed, she stood frozen near the table.
Valentine's Day. It was Valentine's Day. They were here, together, sharing a bed and having so much sex she was sure to need to do a pregnancy test upon arrival back homeâŚon Valentine's Day. Before she could catastrophize she decides to brush it off. Chalking it up to him pissing her off the week before and spontaneously deciding to make it up to her the next. Tucking the card under a spare plate, she pads into the room to wake him.
ââ
The heated pool outside of their bedroom is where they find themselves after scarfing down their breakfast.
âFor someone who cares so much about sunscreen, you sure are burnt up,â she chastises, skimming her pointer finger across his cheeks and nose. The skin is tender and warm under her touch. Eyes closed, he lets out a brief grunt of acknowledgment.
The sound of water swishing around reveals his hand rising from its place beneath her thigh. Trailing up her arm to her swim topâthough not as severe as the day prior, still offering barely any coverage. He peels back the fabric to reveal the faintest hint of a tan across her chest.
âThink I did a pretty good job,â he quips, peeking at her with one eye open. Her legs wrap tighter around his hips when he lifts off the step heâd been resting on. Wading them deeper into the water. For the past few hours theyâd done nothing but float around in this pool, trading the pressings of their lips against the other and whispering small talk.
Serene. It's how sheâs felt since they'd touched down. Sheâd dreamed of days like this, to just enjoy each other's company without the weight of responsibility at the forefront of her mind.
Though she had to admit, that a nagging thought had been plaguing her the entire trip. One that is so hard to contain, especially when his body is flush against hers, gripping and maneuvering her to pull pleasure from every nerve in her body.
A nip at the center of her chest causes her to gasp. Casting her head down, their eyes connect, his brows lifting in anticipation.
âHear what I said?â
âHuh?â
Chuckling, he shakes his head, walking them back toward the pool's entrance.
âSomeone's knocking on the door,â he announces, planting her down and rising from the water. Following behind him, they arrive at the front door, and through the glass she can see someone from the villa staff. Holding a large bouquet of at least a hundred roses, formed into the shape of a heart with a stark white card in the center.
Reservation requests for the spa. A couples massage... On Valentine's Day. Her internal spiraling from the morning resurfaces. The timing of their trip was no accident.
After securing the spots and bidding the young woman a good day, it's just the two of them once again. âIf you wanted to spend Valentine's Day with me, all you had to do was ask,â she jokes, hoping that heâll reveal that this is all a misunderstanding.
âWould you have said yes?â he challenges, no humor in his voice.
âMaybeâ
âExactly,â leaning down to plant a lingering kiss onto her lips, he dips a finger into the string between her breasts. âNowâŚI think I can figure out how to spend our time before the spa.â
ââ
Throughout the time that they'd known each other, her biggest gripe with him had to be his refusal of commitment. The only thing sheâd ever seen him be loyal to was his career, and even then his attention often strayed. The source of their longest standingâand most recentâ argumnent being his refusal to just accept that their relationship was more than a casual fling. Not even asking him to put a label on things, though at his age the task seemed juvenile.
So she was sure that her mind was playing tricks on her when, in the midst of their âcouplesâ massage, the sweet masseuses attempting to make small talk wondered how long they'd been together, and his response was âa whileâ.
The resulting âvery tenseâ from her own masseuse was confirmation that a larger conversation needed to be had between the two very nude adults. Sheâd never been more confused and quite frankly pissed off. Did he really see it that way, or was it a lie just to get the women to stop questioning him?
Thankfully, they were both faced down, so he couldn't see the tears welling in her eyes. It was stupid really to get so worked up over semantics. But it was the one thing sheâd be askingâbegging him for.
How easily it slipped off of his tongue makes her stomach feel sick. Just a week prior, heâd sworn up and down that he didn't do this âshit,â and yet here they were being rubbed down with fucking chamomile and volcanic rocks.
The walk back from the spa is noticeably silent, and when she requests to shower on her own, he knows that his words from earlier upset her.
He didn't think too much about them when he said them, really. He meant what he said. He knows that it's wrong to feel how he does and constantly withhold it from her, even though time and time again she's proved to be nothing like them.

Anytime Jireh whispered those words to him after a night spent together, his stomach would clench in agony. He was no better than him. It's why heâd taken to pretending to sleep until he could hear the steadying of her breaths.
He tried. Started leaving small things behind in an attempt to get himself to stay, and yet anytime he willed himself to do it, that nagging thought in the back of his mind sent him on his way.
The idea that she would wake up in the morning and be angry at seeing him still in her home was enough to wake him, doused in a cold sweat anytime he found himself drifting off in the plush sheets of her bed.
Waiting for her to get out of the shower is excruciating, and hearing her sniffles through the door makes the pit in his stomach fall even further. Sitting at the edge of the bed, he catches her before she can slip into the closet. Bringing her between his legs, he grabs onto her hips for stability.
âThat was fucked up⌠not fair to you.â
âIt's finââ
âIt's not; shouldn't have brushed it off like that, not when weâre still trying to figure our shit out.â
Nodding her head, she uses the edge of the towel to wipe at the corners of her eyes. âCome here,â he murmurs, pulling her into his lap and wrapping her in a warm embrace. Her grip around his neck is almost suffocating, but the way she nuzzles into him makes up for the lack of air. Shhhing and cooing at her, he caresses the back of her head and down her back, still damp from her shower.
She pulls away first, leaning back to stroke along the skin under his eyes. Heâs not expecting the tender kiss she plants on his lips, and heâd be a fool to not reciprocate.
Gripping from the front, he slowly unfurls the towel tucked around her frame, revealing damp and tender skin waiting to be moisturized. Scooping her up by the flesh of her ass, he flips them over. Planting her on her back. Her brows dip low when he retreats, and he shhhâs her once more before quickly returning. The bottle in his hands lands firmly next to her.
Dragging his palm from her chest down to the top of her pelvis, he rubs soothing circles. Periodically stopping to grab the bottle for more of the oily substance. Caressing each part of her skin.
Momentarily, he flips her onto her stomach to massage the loosened muscles along her spine. Cupping his hands beneath her ass, spreading her cheeks apart before letting them snap back together, she lets out a muffled moan.
His thumbs dip closer and closer to her center, and he can surely see the mess between her legs despite her recent shower. Using his thumb, he teases a swipe down the middle, pulling a gasp from her. Flipping her back over, he does it again before lifting his thumb to his lips to savor the taste.
Pulling from the back of his neck, he removes his shirt, tossing it somewhere behind him before gripping behind her knees and lowering himself to spread her wide. Feasting his eyes on the pooling essence already threatening to run over onto the ruffled sheets. The first drag of his tongue bows her spine and leaves her breathless.
Dragging his tongue up and over each crevice and suctioning his lips around her pulsing clit. The gyrating of her hips forces him to pin her bottom to the mattress, anchoring his open mouth to her leaking pussy.
His two fingers siccors around her clit all the while his flat tongue swipes across her until she begins to shake in his grasp. Pulling back, he swipes a hand down his mouth, collecting the residual moisture and rubbing it back onto its source . Folding her legs back together and using them to force her body further up the bed.
Through hooded eyes, she watches him remove his shorts and boxers. Both fully nude and observing the other. The longer he stands watching her attempt to control her breathing, the harder he becomes.
Grabbing for his shaft, his hand drags slow pumps from base to tip, squeezing at the base with each pass in an attempt to control his heightening arousal. She watches him come to life, hardening to the point of exposing a protruding vein. Her mouth water and the idea of dragging and tongue across it.
When he crawls in between her legs, the shivers have overrun her body. He spreads her lower lips once more. Running his fingers through her syrupy center.
Swiping the moisture onto her painfully hardened nipples before dipping down and collecting them into his mouth. Closing his eyes to savor the taste. The swirling of his tongue combined with the weight of him pressed against her center leaves her dizzy.
Gasping when he gently presses his teeth into the skin of her breast. She strains to keep from cumming just from the tension. The first slip of him inside sends her reeling. Clenching down and gasping for breath, gripping onto the sheets beneath them.
Not even stroking in and out of her, he just swirls his hips, dragging out her pleasure.
When he begins pumping his hips, she can't help the tears that free flow from her eyes. His pace is tantalizingly slow, and she grips onto the skin at his shoulders to ground herself.
When he slides an arm under her hips to deepen his reach, an animalistic growl flows from her parted lips.
Cocooning her in his embrace, he places both of his palms flat under her ass, keeping her pressed as close as possible, barely lifting his hips with each stroke.
With each shallow thrust, the skin along his pelvis catches and pulls at her clit, winding her up even more.
âI know, baby..I know,â he murmurs against her lips. Sucking at them, all the while her mouth hangs open in muted whimpers. The curve of his hips sends his dick mushing into the soft spot deep inside her.
Besides the growls and bustling moans coming from her, she hasn't spoken a wordâcan't speak with the pleasure coursing through her, eating at her insides. Clawing at the skin of his back and ass, her body curls even further into his
It starts in her toes, tingling its way up to her hips and over her chest, stealing her breath away. Bearing down on him, his close proximity is the only thing keeping him sheathed inside of her when she lets go, around him, body trembling in overstimulation.
His hips pick up speed. Rutting into her.
âInside...â she heaves wrapping her arms and legs painfully tight around him.
âWhat?â
â...Inside... please... cum inside meâ
His body stiffens and a deep bellied grunt bellows out of him. Ropes of warm cum seep deep inside her and he continues to grind into her, pacing himself for the next one.

A gentle breeze trickling in through the agape balcony door is what wakes him. Letting his head fall to the side, bleary brown eyes blink open. The sheer curtain flowing with the wind carries in the sound of waves crashing along the shore. He would never sleep with an open door. She must have cracked it in the night.
Closing his eyes once more, inhaling the fresh air, he lets his hand feel around for her under the blanket. The further his hand extends without brushing against her, the more confusion sets in. He discovers her on the right side of the king sized bed, sprawled with her back turned towards him, not where she lay the night before.
Heâs not sure when exactly they fell asleep; he just remembers curling her to his chest, caging her in as her trembling form came down from yet another high. Rolling onto his side, he lets his hand graze across her bare back before sliding it to her front to drag her body further into the middle of the bed. The movement rouses her.
"Nooooo, let me sleep," she grumbles, rolling back to the far side of the bed.
"Too far," he murmurs, still pulling her into him. With a huff, she flops over into the space near him, extending one arm over his chest. Raising it up to his lips, he peppers kisses onto her fingers, trailing them down onto her palm. She looks so serene. Unburdened by life and its many expectations.
The nip at his side brings his attention to her.
âDid you just bite me?â he questions, hearing her grumble once again. Detesting his movement, she was never a fan of early mornings.
Giving in to his pestering, she throws herself onto him with a deep huff. The nibbles she plants on his throat make him chuckle, and she squeaks when he lands a swift crack on the bare skin of her backside.
âUghhh, you're waking me up for no reason!â
âWhat if I wanted something?â he teases.
Cracking one eye open, he can see the smirk forming along her lips. Baring her teeth, she launches to bite him once more before the entire weight of his body crashes down on top of her. Landing bites along her neck and chest, he lets the sound of her jovial giggles carry them into the day.

His big hands roam down the length of your slick back, rough palms and coarse pads of his fingers digging into your skin. Palming the fleshy, meaty part of your ass followed by a slap that makes you hiss against his mouth.Â
The motion of his lips on yours altered. He's smiling. Your eyes don't need to be open to see what you already know. That smug, arrogant one he gives most, if not all. Including yourself the first time you two met. Thinking back, it should have been a sign.
Many things should have been a sign.Â
The rumble of his voice calls to you as he presses a kiss to the corner of your swollen lips, continued, heavy panting and moans slipping out every time he thrusts up inside of you. "You miss me, baby?"
Yes.Â
Ignoring him only serves as a detriment. You gasp when he grips the back of your neck, fingers digging into your skin. Your eyes flutter looking down at him, the motion of you grinding on top of his dick making you moan through pressed lips.Â
"Daddy asked you a question."
The slap to your ass is all that's needed to get you to give him the satisfaction he's looking for. The reassurance his ego seems to need when it comes to you.
"Yes," you moan. Your hands are planted on his chest, keeping you as steady as you can as you ride him despite the burning in your thighs and budding cramps you've narrowly avoided since a few strokes of his dick after the last round was all he needed to be sprung back to life. He was hot, ready, and pulling you right back on top. It's his favorite position, it seems.Â
With you, at least.Â
"Missed you so much," you admit, unprovoked and without much thought but all feeling as he starts to sit up, pulling you flush against him. He kisses you, and once more, you're moaning into his mouth, hands tangled in hair that's been down, wild, and free ever since you accidentally yanked the hair tie out when you were riding his face and on the cusp of your second or third orgasm for the night.Â
He makes a sound, hands back on your ass with a gentle squeeze. "I asked you to come with me," he reminds, lowly, against your lips. "Next time, I'm not askin'."
To be fair, the first "request" really didn't feel like one anyway, what with him essentially texting you what time to be at the airport. You're not sure you want to know what an actual demand looks like.
Knowing him though, it'll be something that you literally can't turn down. Even if you wanted to.
"Stop being quiet," he groans, returning his hands to your hips, speeding up your movements. "Actin' like you trying not to scream from how good I'm fucking you."
He's not wrong, and you hate that he's not wrong. Hate that you don't have a smartass retort, even if it would be out of character for you, especially when it comes to sex.Â
Once he gets you in whatever position he wants you in, you more or less become dumb and mute unless it's in reference to how he's rearranging your insides or eating you out until you have to physically push him away.
Insatiable.
The girls on TikTok weren't lying when they said older men are eaters.Â
Roman is living proof of that.Â
"We'reâwe're in a hâhotel, Râoh, fuck," your attempts to counter lust with logic are lost when he slaps your ass once more while lifting you higher, making the descent down on his big ass dick that much deeper and profound, tip of his thick dickhead brushing against that spot inside of you.Â
"And?" He dismisses. "Hotel, my place, jet, it don't matter, this pussy still grip me the same way every damn time." The last three words are enunciated with a precision that matches the way he fucks up into you, harder and with increased vigor."Â
"Shit, wait," you pant, hands dropping to his shoulders, squeezing. "RomâwaâwaitâI caâ"
"I don't wanna hear that shit." The dismissiveness continues as does the way he's fucking you, pain perfectly mixed with pleasure. "You said you missed me, right? So shut up and take this dick like you missed it."Â
You almost cream right then and there, but the ante is upped when he switches positions once more and no longer are you sitting on his lap, dick dug all up in you. You're on your back for the umpteenth time tonight, knees adjacent to your ears, his big hands on the back of your thighs, keeping you still, stuck, and at the mercy of the relentless, unforgiving strokes that have tears streaming down your face and your hands grasping and gripping for anything that can anchor you.
Not that it makes a difference.
"Look at this mess you've made," he taunts, your eyes fluttering so much that it's possible to make out the sight of him above you. But you don't need to see him to already know his gaze is focused and transfixed on the sight of him drilling your shit. He's obsessed with watching how he moves in and out of you, so much so that if the position allowed, he'd make you watch, too. Similar to how he makes you watch when he goes down on you. "Been making this pretty pussy cream on me all night, and you still can't get enough, can you?"Â
The squelching sound of your pussy being squeezed and stretched by his thick dick is all the answer needed.Â
"Can't get enough of daddy fucking you like this, huh?" He continues as you're once reminded that his shit talking isn't just reserved for the diamond. That shit carries over to most areas of his life, especially in the bedroom. It's as filthy as it is talented. "Always needing me to get you right and remind you where it's at."
Your whimpers, his groans, and the sploshing sounds are a sensual symphony that serve as background music for the latest round of this man making you come completely undone and lose all sense of self, sound, and mind.Â
"That's why it's mine. Ain't it, baby?" A loud gasp escapes your swollen, still wet and sticky with your juices, lips when he leans his body over yours. His hair waterfalls around your face as his hand glides between your slick bodies, the coarse pad of his thumb hovering over your clit.
"Shit," you curse, reaching for his wrist, but he ignores the way you wrap your hand around it and continues to push both physically and otherwise.Â
"This my pussy, Honey?" Your eyes clench shut at the same time your pussy pulses around him. It makes him groan and curse lowly, haughtiness slipping into a place of semi desperation. Like he needs to hear you say it. Hear you confirm it. "Say it's mine, Y/N." Your eyes open and lock onto his, each reflecting the same yet different things. "Tell me you're mine."Â
Minutes later, you're gushing and squirting all over his cock, your body an autonomous entity that offers an answer your brain cannot allow your mouth admit.
March 8th, 2024
The banquet hall was bathed in an array of familiar, appropriate colors. Tables draped in white tablecloths with a long, rectangular overlay that lined the middle of said tables. Silver centerpieces with flowers, blue Hydrangeas, and the famous two-letter monogram etched on any piece of item that could be monogrammed.
The live band was in the midst of changing sets when you found a chance to break away. Noticed that he'd finally broken away. Making your way through the sea of people, some known, most unknown, was actually the easy part. A small smile, quiet 'hi' that was lost among the chatter of the large group, and you were one step closer to your destination.
Though anxiety started to build when you briefly lost sight of him, hence the way you ignored the discomfort of your christian louboutin heels. You haven't the slightest clue how your mom and sister wear these things all the time. The blisters that must await you upon removal are bound to be something ugly.
However, exiting the ballroom and turning to the left allotted you a brief view of the back of him as he turned the corner. Naturally, you moved in haste to keep up with him, his long legs allowed strides that ate up 2x the distance you could in half the time. Except, anxiety jumped to a completely different level when you opened your mouth to call his name and he turned once more. Not down the hall or even to look back at you but instead inside of a room that immediately made you still and pause when you got close enough to see what it was.
"Crap," you cursed.
The men's restroom.
Of course.
You stood there, confused and wondering just what in the hell you were going to do. Truth be told, the plan that you'd jotted down in the notes app on your phone wasn't doing you much good. Especially and primarily since the initial steps you'd identified last night when you grew tired of twisting and turning with sleep continuously evading you to the point that you redirected your focus to plotting and strategizing.
But for one or more reasons, most of your better options hadn't panned out the way you hoped. Either your dad was dragging you around to network and become better aquatinted with the organization you now worked for, primarily the players you'd be working with one on one more than anything. As was the case for most team content creators. It was appreciated, sure, but none of the players whose hands you shook were the ones you needed.
But the one you needed had spent majority of the night either briefly engaging with folks, by himself, with his manager, Paul, or Swerve, another player and Roman's longtime friend, going all the way back to college where the shortstop and pitcher first met.
Even more, Roman carried with him an air that felt like an invisible barrier. One that you just knew not to cross for fear of getting on his bad side. Roman Reigns has never been known for being the most social, at least, not for things like this. You were surprised that he even attended. These sort of events, even if a celebration for the upcoming season and intended to get everyone hype for said season, weren't his thing.
Towards the beginning of his career, sure. He did all the things. Attended all the events. Shook all the hands. Did everything that he needed to in order to cement where he stands now, as one of the best to ever walk onto the baseball diamond, his HOF induction all but guaranteed. His accolades are endless, and his ranking has been said to be up there with some of the greats like Derek, Jackie, and Babe. You don't disagree with that.
So while he's stopped playing the game outside of the ballpark, hasn't for the past few years, really, you get it.
He's earned the right to do so.
10x All Star. 5x World Series Champ. 2x World Series MVP. Sponsorships on top of sponsorships. Deals on deals. The face of the Yankees, more or less, since he signed on with the team when he was 21, Roman has done almost everything one can do in this field.
Him showing up and doing what he wants when he wants just makes sense to you.
But putting all of that together just made you realize how crazy the whole thing was. Not only was the plan unhinged, but the man you'd picked to help you fulfill such plan had to be the most out-of-reach, are you serious selection one could choose.
And yet, there you were.
Doubt crept in as you shook your head and finally found a semblance of sense. Standing outside the men's restroom waiting for a man you'd never even said two words to, let alone a man like Roman, was actually just one step away from 5150 criteria.
Insanity that you couldn't act on.
However, you decided a few seconds too late to back out of a situation you should have never created in the first damn place. Or rather, you made the mistake of walking forward, opting to get some air, instead of turning back around to return to the ballroom. Because the moment you took a step forward was the same moment he took a step out. Outside the bathroom.
In front of the door.
In front of you.
Your eyes widened, and your mouth dropped ever so slightly, words escaping you. To anyone with two good eyes, Roman Reigns was about as attractive as a man could get. Tall, built, deep, sexy ass voice that could make any woman risk it all, and a confidenceâehh, arroganceâthat he could 100% back up. Like most familiar with him, you'd always had a bit of a crush. Admired the older man from afar but never allowed or utilized your father's position as the Yankees Head Coach to secure a meeting. Admiration from afar worked just fine.
But standing in front of him was a completely different experience. He was even bigger in person, finer, features sharper, shoulders wider, beard as sharp and clean as the crisp outfit that was nothing more than a dark brown shirt, black dress pants, and some leather shoes that looked like they cost more than your first year of college.
What a fucking man.
It was noticing the way his warm eyes settled on you with a hint of intrigue and a trace of irritation that shook you from the trance stemmed from standing in front of this fine ass man. One of the finest men you'd ever seen.
"Hi," you squeaked, eyes closing as you shook your head and managed a small smile. "I'm Y/N. I, uhh, I'm the team's new contentâ"
"Coach K's daughter, right?"
You should have known you were fucked when his referring to you as the relative of someone instead of acknowledging your position barely registered, a typical pet peeve, was something you didn't even address because you were too distracted by his sexy ass voice. Once more, like everything else with him, even better in person.
"The youngest," he clarified, and it snapped you from the trance that you'd somehow fallen in yet again. It was effective, however.
"Yeah," you confirmed what should have been obvious. Your two older sisters are also professional athletes, and you know for a fact he's crossed paths with both of them a few times over the years, and while you all inherited your mother's beauty, body wise, you couldn't have been more different. You beingâŚ.the other daughter should have been something that didn't need to be stated. "It'sâit's nice to meet you."
You offered your hand but immediately felt like the dumbest person in the world when he simply looked down at the gesture that seemed more like an insult than anything. He didn't move an inch, hence the way you all but awkwardly brought your hand back to your side, fingers messing with the soft material of your cocktail dress.
"Iâ"
"Look, I'm not up for filming any content tonightâ"
"That's not what I'm here for," you interrupted, and it took even you by surprise. You didn't really consider yourself a passive person, but in a situation like that, standing in front of a man like that for the reasons you were, it felt uncharacteristic. Especially after his cold, rude refusal to accept what was objectively considered a normal gesture between people.
Once more, another sign you should have heeded to.
"Okay," he started, and you internally cringed. He no longer looked intrigued or even irritated. He was nothing more than a blank, uninterested canvas that made you feel even more unnerved than you already were. "So what do youâ"
"IâI just broke up with my boyfriend. Well, just as in yesterday."
If his unchanged, indifferent expression wasn't an indicator of how uncaring he was, his monotone intonation certainly is. "Sorry to hear that."
He didn't sound sorry at all.
And you couldn't entirely blame him.
A part of you wished that you could borrow some of that indifference, cause Lord knew you were tired of crying and being hurt over the disclosure your longtime boyfriend shared with you the day prior.
Erik, the boy you'd been in love with since you were 15, who you'd been faithful to since officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend during your freshman and his sophomore year of high school, who was your first in almost every most important way, had cheated on you. Disclosed that he'd hooked up with some girl he met at a club.
Well, you considered it a hook up. He, however, didn't.
"She justâŚshe just gave me some head, Y/N. That's it."
You so badly wanted that to be the case. It would have dulled the sting of unexpected betrayal. You knew that long distance would be a challenge. Knew it the moment he signed his deal with the Dodgers, but you'd accounted for complications regarding aligning schedules, maintaining communication, and keeping the love thriving and strong.
Not infidelity.
And it fucking hurt.
Because Erik was the first and only boy you'd dated, it also meant that that was your first heartbreak.
A part of you struggled with feeling like you were overreacting, but another louder part of you knew that you weren't. The idea of cheating on Erik never ever crossed your mind. You loved and cared too much about and for him to hurt him like that.
Too bad he didn't feel the same.
So the apathy displayed by the man in front of you evoked a sort of jealousy within. If only it evoked the ability to shut up and silence the unsolicited backstory.
If only it stopped you from digging the hole deeper.
"Yeah, heâhe cheated on me, andâand we'd been together since high school. Middle school, reallyâ"
"Don't take this the wrong way, mama." And just like that, recounting the last decade or so of your life was insignificant in the face of Roman Reigns calling you mama. A shock that deepened as he continued to throw unexpected curveballs. His gaze slowly roamed over your figure, and you prayed he couldn't tell how your thighs instantly clamped together the moment he paused at your chest. "But even with how pretty you are, I'm about five seconds from walking away because I have no ideâ"
"I want you to sleep with me." It came out in a desperate rush, like you knew if you didn't say it right then and there, you never would. Looking back, that probably would have been for the best. "I meanâ" You closed your eyes. "I wantâI want to sleep with you. Likeâlike sex."
And as you forced your eyes open, you witnessed, for the first time since you cornered this man outside the goddamn bathroom, an expression that wasn't one of irritation and indifference.
He smiled.
He fucking smiled.
Amusement imbued in his smooth, baritone voice. "You want to what?"
You took a deep breath, doing your best to remember the brief lines of fragmented dialogue you'd penned down in your notes.
A deep swallow preceded warmth blooming throughout your chest and up the tips of your ears. "I knowâI know your reputation when itâŚwhen it comes to women."
His lips curved into a smug smirk, interest piqued once more. "And just what is that?"
You took a pause. So far, Roman was confirming everything that you'd heard about him regarding his alleged big appetite for women.
And sex.
"That you don't do relationships," you answered. "You justâŚyou just do women." It was a horrible way to frame promiscuity, but an accurate assessment, it seemed, when he didn't correct you. "And thatâthat's what I want. IâIâ" You started to struggle, the intense way he was focused on you, how he kept bouncing his eyes from your mouth to your chest, to your stomach, distracting as fuck. He was throwing you all off a game you barely knew the rules of. "I justâI've neverâI've never had a one night stand, butâbut everyone says that the best way to get over someone isâ"
"To get under someone else?" He finished for you, and it was impossible to ignore the way his eyes dipped to your chest once more. Maybe your sister was right. The red dress was definitely the right call. "I don't know too much about under." The shift in his tone, lighter and less stoic than before, snagged your attention. But it was the way his lips slid into a small, smug grinâand what he said nextâthat had your throat suddenly dry, parched, and dehydrated. The exact opposite of what you were starting to feel between your legs. "Titties jumping while you bounce on it has always been a personal fave of mine."
Oh my God.
But the torture was only just beginning.
"Coach's pretty little daughter wants me to blow her back out to help her get over her cheating exâ" He said more to himself, hands stuffed in his pockets as he nodded slowly before meeting your eyes again. "You know that's a disaster waiting to happen, right?"
For a reminder of why said proposal was a terrible idea, he didn't sound opposed at all. Far from it.
"It'll only be one time," you bargained. As if that whole crazy idea of yours was nothing more than a sales pitch, and maybeâŚ.maybe it was. "Andâand I'll leave as soon as we're doneâ"
He shook his head and roamed his gaze over your body for the umpteenth time and licked his lips. You could have came right there on the spot. "You come to my room, you're not leaving till morning, sweetheart."
Oh.
You started to point out why, while that might have been a dream come true for most women, for you, that probably wasn't going to be the case. But then you realized that telling him might make him reconsider, if he was even seriously considering at all. Though the fact that he hadn't walked away as well as the way he looked like he was already counting all the different ways he wanted to bend you over had you thinking he was most definitely considering.
If he hadn't already decided on an answer.
Hence you deciding to just keep your mouth shut.
You'd justâŚ.you'd tell him when you got there. AskâŚask him toâŚ.to go slow.
BeâŚ.gentle.
If he even knows what that means.
"I won't tell anyone," you continued to offer up as many incentives as you could conjure. The desire coming from a place unknown but something that had your stomach in all sorts of knots. "I meanâŚ.obviously. IâI wouldn't want to lose my job."
"I wouldn't let that happen."
His response came swift and sharp. A detour from the brief stretch of lighthearted flirting that you two had fallen into. The gleam in his eyes matched the serious tone of his voice as he crossed his arms.
You forced yourself to not pay attention to how the stretched material around his big ass arms seemed like it was seconds away from ripping. God, he's huge. "I mean, IâI appreciate that, but I don't thinkâ" You took a deep breath. "You're the team's star player, and yeah, my dad is the coach, but I haven't even been hereâ"
"Y/N," he interrupted. "I'm Roman Reigns, sweetheart." A beat. "If I say you stay, then you stay."
Oh.
There was a commanding undertone to his voice that had you struggling with thoughts that were far too inappropriate for the setting you were in but every bit what you were starting to think was going to be a reality sooner rather than later.
"Y/N."
You flinched, realizing only then that he'd stepped closer. So close that you could now make out the light freckles speckled across his T-Zone and the few strings of gray in his dark hair that you thought were mostly limited to his beard.
He tilted his head to the side and smirked once more as you tried to ignore not only how close he was but how good he smelled. God, what was wrong with you? You hadn't even been this flustered with Erik before you disclosed your crush and you two became a couple.
"You always this jumpy and chatty?" He asked, that humor returned and reflected in his eyes. Another realization made as the fluorescent lighting of the hall highlighted subtle specks of gold in honey brown. "That's alright. I like to hear you tell me how good it feels when I'm in it."
At that, your eyes widened once more. You'd heard he wasâŚ.straightforward, but this felt like something entirely different. It made you feel different in a way that was uncomfortable, especially with the way the throbbing between your thighs seemed to only intensify with each passing second.
"Go find your dad." His unexpected change in tone and subjects, thankfully, drew your focus and created a successful interruption to your body's autonomous, growing need for him. ForâŚmore. "Tell him you're not feeling and that you're leaving."
You frowned, the confusion deepened. "Wâwhat?"
A small gasp escaped your lips when he leaned over and his arm slid around your body. Your hand naturally planted on his firm chest as his traveled down your back and slid over the curve of your ass.
"You want me to fuck you, don't you?" He whispered in your ear, and it took everything in you to not moan when he ghosted his lips over the side of your face. Especially when you turned your head and unintentionally made it so your facesâlipsâwere mere centimeters away from one another. Those same soft looking lips lifted up once more in a small smile. "So let's fuck."

The silence that follows the final round is one that both suffocates and relieves. It breeds a sort of metaphorical asphyxiation that allots you the drive needed to pull yourself out of the destroyed bed. Sheets ruined, pillows flattened, and a headboard that no doubt left a dent in the wall behind it.Â
The room tells the story you never could.
All the while you work to gather your items, ignoring the throbbing between your thighs and making a mental note to pop an ibuprofen as soon as you get back to your room. Even after all this time, taking him in all the ways you have, it seems like your body can never seem to adjust for more than a few hours. Your pussy always sore the next day, as if toying and torturing you with a reminder you have to use pills to swallow away and silence.Â
Truth that can't be denied no matter how much you want to.Â
"Lemme guess." You stand up, ruined dress in hand, the already thin straps that were fighting for dear life holding up your big breasts nothing but hanging, tattered remains. You'll have to steal one of his shirts or something because what once was one of your favorite dresses is no more than a makeshift skirt at this point. It only makes sense. Most things that Roman Reigns touches outside of that diamond end up nothing more than a contribution to the destruction that follows him wherever he goes.
Including you.
He waits until you turn to face him. He's sitting on the edge of the bed, boxers tugged onâwhen did he do that?âlooking more deity than man. Your eyes travel the length of his broad shoulders, and if you looked close enough, you'd see the small indents of your nails that dug into his taut skin as he pounded you out.Â
"You're not staying."
You swallow, reaching to tuck a tendril behind your hair. One of many reasons you'd shifted more towards embracing your natural kink and curls? The exhaustion and frustration at having a $200, three hour visit at the salon ruined by one night of no self-control or restrain. It wasn't worth it. From a monetary nor temporal standpoint.Â
"You know I can't."Â
While you work the dress-turned-skirt over your thick, chubby legs, utilizing said dressing as an excuse to break eye contact, his eyes remain fixed on you. "Can't or won't?"
Fuck.
"How long you gon' pretend to love that boy?"
Having turned around to head over to the bathroom and attempt to do whatever you can with your appearance, nothing stops you in your tracks faster than a question that hits you harder than any hardball he could ever throw.Â
You turn around, ignoring the way your chest thumps when he stands up.Â
"I do."Â
It kills you how you're fully aware of the fact that your answer is nothing more than a poor attempt at convincing yourself more than it is an honest, truthful answer. Disgusts you in many ways, and you pray it's subterfuge known only to you.
But if Roman Reigns is nothing else, he's astute as fuck.Â
"Bullshit," he curses. "But let's say you do. Let's say you do love him. You love him but love my dickâ"
"Don't talk about him like that," you attempt to defend, but like most things when it comes to the man who's slowly making his way towards you, it crashes spectacularly. You're not sure if it's the age difference, the power dynamic, your naturally docile personality, his inherently dominant one, or a mixture of all of it thrown together in a pile of mess, but regardless of the cause, Roman has always had a way of making you question things.
Even yourself.Â
Your eyes shut as his arm swings around your body, pulling you flush against him. Soft melting with hard. "I don't like liars, sweetheart." He murmurs, trailing his finger down your cheek. "Even if they are as pretty as you."
It takes everything in you to keep your eyes closed when he dips his head to your neck and inhales deeply. Your breath caught and voice whispered. "WhatâI don't know what you want from me."
Some days, you do. Others, you don't. Right about now, you're not even sure what you want for yourself.Â
And he knows it.
"I think you know the answer to that, love."
The room grows silent once more.Â
He's not wrong.
But he's not right, either.
When Katy Perry released Hot n' Cold back in the day, and you used to sneak and use your sisters' iPod touches to listen to said song that was deemed inappropriate because of the sole curse word, you had no idea it would end up being the perfect song to describe Roman Reigns.
He burns hot just as easily he runs cold. That charming, alluring smile can, in a matter of seconds, morph into a deep scowl or sneer right before he shuts down entirely, and his face reads just what he gives.
Nothing.
And the many faces and sides of Roman are what you lean on and choose to focus on rather than the alternative that leads to the road of recognition and acknowledgment.Â
You shake your head, heat starting to bloom up the back of your neck. The room suddenly much warmer than you remember, even in the midst of your sexual tryst that started the moment he pulled you into his room and had you up against the wall, mouth slammed onto yours, fingers already working to rid you of your clothes.Â
"IâI haveâ" Stammering accompanies you turning around to locate the rest of your items. "I have to gâ"
Your eyes immediately shut in preparation for what you know you cannot avoid nor evade.
He breathes your name as you breathe in deeply, the scent of him. His cologne still lingering on his skin despite the exertion over the past few hours. A scent that instantly reminds you of the shirts and hoodie stored in the back of your closet. His. The ones that carry that same scent, hence why one of said shirts have been your sleep attire a few times over the past few months.
If not more than a few.
Your lips gradually part as he drops his hands to your hips and pulls you into him. "Stay with me, Honey."
If it wasn't the tone of his deep voiceâbeseeching and sincereâit's the usage of what was once a NSFW nickname, now so much more. Sometimes you wish the first utterance and first explanation that made you blush when you heard it was what came to mind. It'd be immensely preferred over the butterflies that flutter in your stomach now whenever he calls you that.
The butterflies that have your resolve already starting to crumble.
"RomanâŚ"
"Don't leave," he continues. A slow, shaky breath seeping past your lips when he drops his head to your neck. His beard tickling your clavicle and top of his head brushing against your chin as your breathing grows heavy when he starts planting soft kisses across your shoulder and chest. Lifting your shaking hands, the thought and intention is to lightly push him away, but it's when his own hand lifts to palm and gently squeeze your breast that you falter.Â
Hesitation immediately noticed and taken advantage of, especially and primarily when your hand somehow lifts to the back of his head, his dark tresses spilling over and through your fingers. But it's when he drags his mouth back up to yours to kiss you, and the taste of you, still damp on his lips and beard, further depletes your resolve and causes you to slip into the danger zone.Â
You moan.Â
Moan into his mouth, and it's in that very moment, you already know how this is going to play out. Roman hikes you up onto his waist and carries you back over to the bed where he lays you down, never once interrupting the way your lips can't seem to get enough of one another. Disruption stemming from your end when you gasp into his mouth after he starts playing with your titties.Â
"Stay with me. Please." The same sentiment and request continuously expressed as he once against starts to pepper your body with kisses, working his way downward until he's tugging that dress right back off. Opening your eyes, you turn your head just in time to see how it's hastily tossed to the side. But it's Roman's hands shifting to the back of your legs and pushing them up once more that redirects your focus. Except the last thing you see is the glazed, hungry gleam in his eyes before all that's left is the top of his head as he finds his pleasure once more in between your thighs.
You curse lowly, head thrown back while he sucks your tender, throbbing clit. His thick fingers keeping your pussy lips spread as he explores the length of you. Precise, controlled, pleasurable laps, licks, and sucking of your most sensitive areas making you writhe on the bed for the umpteenth time tonight.
You sit up just enough to reach for his head as he ensures your placement remains exactly where it is. Exactly where he wants you. But desire and blind pleasure are often times unintentionally contagious, because one minute your intention is to steer him as he eats you eagerly, and the next, you're pulling. Manage to tug enough on his hair to pry his mouth from your pussy. Your wet, sticky juices smeared all over the bottom half of his face. It transfers onto your own when you smash your lips back onto his, naturally laying back on the bed. Hands pushing down on his boxers, an act he gladly assists you with. The last of his clothing joins the last of yours as you feel him against your stomach. Heavy, warm, hard, and throbbing. The pulsing sensation evoking another round of moans, heightening your need and lowering your logic.
It's all Id at this point, and nothing more.
You realize as such when he reaches his arm across, near the nightstand where the almost empty box of condoms sits in wait. The fact that it's the same box from the first night you two slept together, and that it still has condoms despite the X number of times he's been inside of you is something you intentionally choose to ignore.
Not like it makes a difference now anyway.
You cup his face and shake your head, meeting his prurient gaze that you'd bet your life matches that of your own.
Your voice whispered and pained, "I just wanna feel you." Â
But it's the way he looks at you, not with lust, not with the carnal hunger that's appeared in his warm eyes most times when you forgo protection, allow him to fuck you raw, it's something else. Something unnerving and far too intimate for whateverâŚ..this is supposed to be. Especially when instead of making your body nothing short of a ragdoll as he fucks you hard and without mercy, making you cry from how good it feels. His movements are slow and deep, his hips moving in tandem with yours. His hands pinning yours above your head as you makeout with one another, tongues entangled in that familiar dance. His mouth trailing down the length of your neck, eventually freeing your wrists as your hands rake up and down his back, pulling him close and near.Â
His head buried in the crook of your neck, holding you just as closely as you're holding him. One hand hooked on the back of your thigh, the other gently holding onto your hip. The filthy, haughty sex talk replaced with his deep panting and other words and phrases of affirmation that he feeds into your ear.
Ones that make your eyes shut and that feeling that only seems to grow stronger the longer this goes on extrapolate and reach another level. And even when it's all over, when he makes you come for the 5th or 6th time tonight, your pussy tender, swollen, with his cum still leaking out from when he finished inside of you, that feeling remains. Feels rooted and locked in like the way he's got his big arm swung over you, keeping you against him, his soft snores in your ear as you stare at the wall in the dark, quiet room.Â
A part of you wants to try to leave. Knows that you should. But even if Roman wasn't such a light sleeper and would no doubt object at you leaving out in the middle of the night by yourself, you're not entirely sure if that would be the reason you'd stay.
Not because of his interference but your lack of wanting.
Of wanting to leave.
Sure, maybe some part of you does, but the larger, louder part wants you to stay exactly where you are.
With him.
And that terrifies you.
This has all gotten so out of hand. Every time you try to say that this time is the last time, you end up being made out to be a bigger liar than you were before the meritless oath was made. It's so out of character. All of it. This isn't who you are. You're not a cheater. Yes, Erik's cheating is, in a way, what started all of this, but the moment you decided to give him another chance was also the moment you should have kept your one night stand with Roman just that.
One night only.
Because now it's turned into countless nights. Even more, sexual trysts in the sheets have become, in the strangest of ways, the least of the things that connect you to the man beside you. Perhaps it'd be easier to walk away if it was just the sex. If Roman was still that older, whorish man who had a single purpose. This man so far removed from what you go forâfrom Erikâthat it seemed almost inconceivable you'd even had the gall to initially approach him.
But you did, and that one decision has almost entirely changed the trajectory of your life.Â
Because Roman Reigns is no longer thisâŚ.entity. He's a person. He's just Roman, and Roman, despite his public image, is a quiet, almost introverted man who has a low tolerance for most and a no bullshit policy for all. He's as charismatic as he can be an asshole. But peel back the layers of an arrogant playboy, and you'll see that there's more to him than meets the eye.
So much more.
Most of whichâif not allâyou've seen and learned firsthand over the past few months.
Loyal. Caring. Considerate. Generous. Selfless. Roman, the man, is someone who does any and everything he can for his family. Everything he does is for them, and he'd said as such one night during the many pillow talks you two engaged in. Growing up in such a large family and losing his father when he was only thirteen in a robbery gone wrong created a sort of pressure for and on him. Some from within. Some external.
With his father's murder and him being the only male in the house, he was forced into a role no young boy should have to take on.
He was the man of the house and carried that burden with him all the way into adulthood. He's a provider. Did odd jobs around the neighborhood to earn some extra cash that he gave to his mom until he was old enough to get a "real" job that he held for all four years of high school, even while still being on the baseball team. Decided to leave college just one year short of graduating as almost any and everyone around him at that time kept reiterating how he was a "sure pick" for the draft. That there was no question he'd get drafted. He was too damn good not to. Racked up a number of accolades that'd drawn the attention of the MLB before he even finished his freshman year.Â
They were right.
He ended up being the number one pick in the draft, and while most of the world believes he chose to not finish school because he just wanted to kickstart his career, education be damned, you know that couldn't be father from the truth.
Not finishing college, is, as he'd shared with you that night as you sat next to him on the porch of his mom's home, is one of his biggest regrets. It was part of the reason he was so career driven and focused, only cared about being the best and succeeding, even if it cost him personally. Because he carried the weight of needing to support and take care of his family.
Just as his father would have.Â
You wonder if he knows how proud his dad would be of him. Wonder if he'd believe it. Believe you.Â
As confident he is in most areas of his life, peeling back the layers has also revealed certain vulnerabilities you'd have never guessed the man next to you struggles with. Again, humanization of the man behind the brand.Â
The same man you've seen in such a different light over the months, and perhaps it's that man that's kept you where you are. Like a boomerang that only knows how to return because anything else just isn't an option. Goes against the nature and order of things.Â
And as you turn over in bed and study his sleep face, reach to trace the outline of his features, glimpses flash through your head like a slideshow in a presentation intended to educate.Â
To defend and prove a point.
The curve of his smile, and not the one he flashes for photos and even when he has to turn on the charm, but the one you noticed he uses when talking with Swerve, with you, and especially and predominately, when he's with his family. The laugh that's somehow both quiet and a cackle that's almost always accompanied by him placing his hand over his chest or stomach. The hilarious reaction driven facial expressions that emote more than anything the public has seen, especially, again, when he's with his family.
And then you hear it.
As if standing in the yard again.
The sound of his nieces and nephews laughing, yelling, and shouting out all sorts of commands as Roman runs around with them. His niece on his back, his nephew with a mitt in one hand and ball in another. You see the way takes his time, explaining and instructing, offering both guidance and support. The way he holds his niece who lays her head on his shoulder and whispers in his ear things that make him smile and wink as he tickles her stomach.
The way he held his latest niece. Not even six months, little legs kicking and loud babbles coming from her mouth as if she was communicating with him.Â
The way he lookâ
You stop and close your eyes. Shift so that you're laying on your back.Â
Too much.
Too close.
A shaky, uneven exhale escapes your mouth when you manage to open your eyes, met with a blurred view of the ceiling. Tears managing to roll down your cheeks as you swallow the lump in your throat.
This has to stop.
You can't keep doing this.
To Erik.Â
To Roman.
To yourself.
Toâ
Again, a forced stop. Your mind protecting you from what you still haven't allowed yourself to fully process.
It's all too much.Â
Erik. Erik. Erik is the one.Â
The one who gave you your first kiss.
He gave you your first orgasm.
The only who's always made you laugh.
He makes you smile.
The one who you always wanted to be around.
He's the one who you can't not be around.Â
The one who checks all the boxes.
He's created and checked boxes you didn't know were boxes.Â
The one who's always just wanted to make you happy.
He does make you happy.Â
The one you love.
He's the one you're inâ
And once again, you manage to silence that voice in the back of your head. Strip from her that voice that's far too loud and far too jarring.
RomanâŚRoman was a chapter, but he was never meant to be the final chapter.Â
Erik holds that spot. The safe one.Â
Roman is far from safe. The epitome of risk and unstable. There's no foundation with him. Nothing that's solid and foolproof, anyway.Â
Erik is.Â
The book started with him, and it has to end with him.
If only you could stop the way your heart hurts and mind wanders, the desire to turn the page and see if there's a secret epilogue. Or a sequel that follows.Â
A different sort of ending.Â
If only.
a/n: idk. this one is....interesting to me. can't put my finger on why exactly, but whatevs. lmk if you'd be interested in seeing more of them. my brain created a whole ass layered lore for them smh some of which which hinted in here, so it shouldn't be terribly difficult to put two and two together.

The tapping of Heavenâs almond shaped nails against the side of her thigh occur in conjunction with each deep, quiet, counted breath taken and the subsequent exhale. While her eyes remain shut during the short, simple but effective exercise learned in therapy, they snap open only a few seconds later in order to implement another learned coping mechanism. Heaven starts off easy, utilizing what can be seen without any additional movement, give or take subtle utilization of peripheral vision. She counts the walls. Four. Two more than the amount of chairs that surround the graphite gray table. White chairs with legs that look sturdy but rocked and briefly scraped against the gray concrete floor when she sat down and placed her black Hermes bag in the empty seat next to her. The buzzing of the fluorescent ceiling lights serve as a sort of buffer for the muffled outside noise. A surprising thing she noticed she being escorted in.Â
Heaven always thought these sort of rooms were soundproof. Made so that no sound from within traveled outward and no sound outside traveled inward. Just like the room as seen and depicted in any legal based television program or cinematic film. It just seemed like the sort of thing that made sense what with the nature of such a place. But perhaps itâs the opposite. Privacy of that nature is only allotted for the freed.
Not the imprisoned.Â
The guard who escorted her remains with his feet planted near the door. He offered nothing but a silent nod of acknowledgment, his left hand remaining on his holstered gun, the right resting his side, waiting and watchful. Itâs appreciated. While her emotions have been all over the place from the moment she woke up this morning, any sort of anxiety or fear havenât been because of the potential danger.Â
At least, not towards her.
And not in the way most people in such a situation would suspect.Â
Heaven redirects her focus to the faint scratches on the table and is seconds from lifting her wrist to check the time. The gold Piaget watchâa Christmas gift from Roman a few years backâthe only source allotted to her to do so, her phone and other non-allowed items checked in upon their arrival. But itâs a failed effort when a sudden knock disturbs final attempts at settlement.Â
Itâs hard to say exactly what traverses through her the moment the door opens and a room of two temporarily increases to four before descending into three. The squeak and creak of those same sneakers against the cold floor in conjunction with almost rhythmic whirring. Something locking and clanking upon final placement. Directly across from her. A quiet, barely audible and brief conversation between the two guards transpiring before the one who transported departs and the one who remains stands exactly as heâs been since he escorted her in.
The silence that follows the sound of the door closing is thick. Unintentional. Heaven has no desire to play any games, to see who will fold first. She justâŚ.sheâs not sure what to say. Not really. And itâs the strangest fucking thing in the world. To be sitting across from someone that, once upon a time, she believed to be her end all, be all. The first and the last.Â
The reality that is theirs, however, couldnât be anymore farther from that.
Itâs been roughly two months since theyâve been in the same space. God knows how long since theyâve been physically this close to one another. And while he hardly looked like the same handsome man she was once head over heels with during the trial, the continued decline in his appearance is even more drastic.Â
Dark roots grown out and poorly transitioning into the faded, bleached ends. She never could understand the thought process for some of his hair choices, including the most recent cut, unevenly shaved on the sides, a sort of mullet in the middle. Itâs roughly the same with the only difference being the obvious lack of refreshed color. Faded and dull. Similar to his eyes. Deep, dark, heavy bags that were almost non-existent before the ruination. Chapped lips. Slightly gaunt cheeks. Heâs lost some weight. Maybe a lot. Itâs hard to tell what with the almost baggy fit of his orange jumpsuit, a size too large or just ill fitting altogether. Insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Comfort is the last thing prioritized in such a place and for such a person.
âYou come to gloat?âÂ
His voice takes her back. She hasnât heard him speak sinceâŚ.
Itâs been a long time. Heâs said not a word throughout the entire trial. Not during any of the testimonies given. Not even her own. As she often tearfully and angrily testified. Relaying in detail the litany of atrocities committed during their marriage. Including the retelling of what she now knows and recognizes to have been abuse. Abuse that, all things considered, and in the most heartbreaking of ways, weighs lowly on the scale of egregiousness regarding his actions.
A few one worded responses to the judge, but even those were muttered, with him often being asked to repeat himself. And at that point, Heaven had tuned him out.Â
But thereâs no doing that when he sits right across from her.Â
Her silence is clearly irksome, the irritation in his gruff voice increased. âCame to rub shit in my face?â
Heaven stills. Just continues to stare at him offering nothing more than a poker face and a surprisingly, easily crafted stoic expression. If she was unsure what level of anger and rage still remained, sheâs almost sure now that itâs all but dissipated. Or rather her purpose outweighs her emotions.
Either way, she maintains the calm.Â
She lifts a perfectly arched brow, refusing to show and give him anything other than facts. âYou havenât been sentenced yet.â
âYou a lot of things, Heaven, but stupid ainât one of them.â He scoffs. âWe both know how this shit gonâ turn out.âÂ
Heâs not wrong.
Thereâs no denying that whatever sentence will be issued three days from now, it wonât be light. It also wonât be what he deserves though.
Heaven is almost certain that there is no sentence that adequately fits the depth of his crimes.
Not in this life anyway.Â
âWhy are you here?â He issues his question once more, volume once again transcending to the next level. The first and only flash of anything in his empty eyes making a brief appearance. Anger. âIÂ already saw what you had to say.â
That was, in the strangest way, one of the things throughout this whole process that she detested the most. His having the right to read her victim impact statement ahead of time. She understood it from a legal standpoint, but morally, it felt unfair. It felt unfair that he had the legal right to protest and defend himself from facts that he canât dispute, even if he wanted to. The strong case presented by the DA all but cemented that.Â
Heaven desired to witness and see his face as she read aloud the six page letter she wrote, edited, scrapped, rewrote, and picked apart line by line for almost two weeks before settling on the final draft. Wanted to watch in real time the live reaction to her raw, uncut, final words. But sitting across from him right now, seeing the same heartless man she saw that day as he hovered over her, choking the life out of her, fully intending to take her lifeâŚ.she knows now it wouldnât have made a difference.
Even in real time, his reaction would be the same.
Nothing.Â
âYouâre right.â She nods, dark red lips pressed together. âI did already say what I have to say.â A beat. âBut you havenât heard what she has to say.â
A quick flick of her eyes to the guard in the corner of the room results in him walking over to the door. Jey turns to the man before looking back at Heaven.
âWhatâs going on?â
Naturally, she ignores him. Instead angles her body towards the door the guard knocked on twice. A few seconds later, it opens, and for the first time since she sat down, something warm floats through her chest.Â
For a moment, sheâs surprised. She expected him to be holding her, as he always and usually does when escorting her. But then Heaven remembers. Remembers the request made.
She asked to walk on her own.
Hence the way he simply holds her hand.
Her black pleated shirt brushes against her knees, white socks with black ruffles sticking out past the tongue of her sneakers. Her white shirt, tucked into the skirt, is a size too large but was her preference. A portion of his tribal tattoo, covered in gold, the outline of his famous Superman punch sprawled across the middle of her chest. Her dark hair is pulled up into two space buns, gold butterfly clips clipped near each. A gold bracelet on each wrist and necklace to match complete the look. The splash of rainbow fur, clutched against her chest with her left arm, pointed ear lightly brushing against her jaw, is a contrast to her otherwise monochromatic outfit. Her lips are pressed together and her chin is held high, but when she locks gazes with Heaven, thereâs a shift.
The feet of the chair screech loudly when Heaven scoots back, opening her arms right as Macy breaks away from Roman in exchange to greet her mama.
Heaven closes her eyes and sighs softly. âHi, baby,â she murmurs into the top of Macyâs head, her daughterâs fingers digging at her arm. Creating an anchor. A safe space to land and deplane. Heaven briefly meets Romanâs guarded gaze only for it to quickly switch to the man across from his girls. Small bumps sprout across the back of her neck.
If looks could killâŚ.
Itâs more or less the same way heâs looked at Jey since the start of the trial. When he did allow himself to look. Majority of the time, Heaven kept her hand intertwined with his or one on his bicep. Keeping him grounded.Â
In more than just the physical.Â
Macy shifting in her lap redirects her focus, however, as her brave little girl repositions herself so that she no longer has her face buried in Heavenâs chest. Sheâs instead facing the man she once called daddy.Â
And for the first time since the onset of the trialâeven before thatâHeaven observes something different in Jey. A short, brief glimmer of something other than anger, hate, and disdain.Â
Theyâre still present but far less intense.Â
Itâs welcomed. Provides a modicum of relief in a situation Heaven still isnât 100% sure she was right in agreeing to.
And she knows Roman feels the same.Â
Lord knows that when Macy first brought up her desire to see Jey, to speak with him, the ânoâ couldnât come out fast enough. A delivery that could have been better, for sure, but it was such a jarring, unexpected, anxiety inducing question that Heaven knows both she and Roman immediately went into fight or flight. Answered from a place of fear and panic.
Understandably so.
Thereâs a reason they were adamant from the very beginning about keeping their daughter as far away from Jey as possible. While they prioritized filing for a lifetime restraining order, they also implored Heavenâs parents to see what legal strings they could pull, if possible, to expedite the process of Jeyâs parental rights being terminated so that they could begin the process of having Roman legally recognized as Macyâs father. Her safety, healing, and erasing any connection and right Jey had to Macy were number one on their list.
Thus them being floored when she asked not once but several times about this. Even brought it up to her therapist, Mack, hence a collaborative meeting with all four to discuss where such a thing came from and best ways to handle it.
Heaven knows that both she and Roman entered that session all but convinced that they werenât going to change their minds. There was a reason the DA hadnât even considered calling Macy to testify. On top of her being too young, given the nature of the crime, it would be far too traumatizing to put her in such a situation.Â
And Macy has already been traumatized enough. Been through more than any seven year-old should have to overcome.
To say her journey since the fire has been difficult would be an understatement.Â
A year later, she still canât sleep by herself. Theyâve tried on a few occasions, and each one has resulted in Macy hysterical, in tears, and on the brink of a panic attack. Even the aid of Candy, their 2 year old German Shepherd, and Macyâs ESA, sleeping at the edge of the bed doesnât stop her from burying herself into Romanâs chest, Cookie in her arms.Â
And even when surrounded by every source of comfort sheâs identified, there are still nights where she wakes up screaming, crying, and kicking, haunted by nightmares Heaven knows all too well.Â
Sheâs had a handful herself.
But a motherâs priorities will always be her children.Â
Macyâs separation anxiety was so severe in the weeks following her discharge from the hospital that either Heaven or Roman had to be with her at all times. Even leaving her in a different room of the house produced a level of anxiety that had her eyes watering and arms reaching for someone to hold her. So much so that when they attempted to drop her off at school for the first day of first grade , theyâd barely made the hall before she was running out the classroom, tears streaming down her face, crying, âplease donât leave me!â
They ended up pulling her from school, Roman hiring a private tutor to come to the house to teach her for the remainder of the school year.
And while Candy and consistent therapy have helped immensely, enough to where sheâs now back in school, a month into the second grade, she still has her moments. She always will. Just like her mother, Macy was diagnosed with PTSD in the month following the fire. Sheâll never be the same exact child she was before, but then again, neither will anyone else involved.Â
No one has or ever will be the same, because thatâs how survival works. You escape with your life but not without the version of yourself that existed before that trauma. That part of you is lost forever. Never to be found.Â
Never to be regained.Â
Alternatives were offered. The most obvious being Macy writing a victim impact statement just like her mom, and she was open to that. As long as she could read it to him. In person. Additional suggestions either met with dislike or the same additive of her somehow speaking to Jey personally, it became abundantly clear that this wasnât just something Macy wanted.
It was what she needed.
And that realization was something Heaven, while not thrilled about, understood. Jey abandoned her. The person who was supposed to protect her left her. Even as she cried and begged for him not to. Heaven and Roman were able to speak their peace. Testifying throughout the trial and even just being in the court room, present and aware of every development and outcome from each day of said trial granted them a voice. Their letters being the final nail in the coffin. Macy has not been granted that level of space to express, and thus, her almost need to utilize this moment for just that.
To finally have her voice heard. Â
âWhat the hell?â Jey finally breaks from his stunned silence, eyes nervously flitting to the guard. âI ainât agree to this.âÂ
But the man remains as he has since the very beginning.
Silent.
âSure you did.â Heaven tilts her head to the side. âRemember? Your lawyer said you signed off on it.â
Jey opens his mouth, and sheâs partially prepared for him to say something out of pocket. Her arms instinctively tighten around Macy, but nothing comes out. He instead curses lowly, looking away before nodding to himself.Â
âRightâŚâ He turns to her once more, and itâs not lost on her how he seems to intentionally keep himself from looking at Macy. âYou are a Jackson.âÂ
She raises her chin, wise enough to not comment on what most likely goes over Macyâs head, perhaps the guard as well. Heaven takes great pride in knowing that her parents, for how accomplished they are and have been, especially as African Americans, have never been the ones to play the game. The one where machinations run rampant and blackmail is a form of insurance. Television and overall media have been known to sensationalize, but theyâve never been entirely wrong.
Truth exists between the dramatization.Â
Clarence and Shelia, however, reached the level of success theyâve attained through hard work and unmatched dedication and determination. The only thing theyâre devoted to more than their careers is that of their daughter, and especially their granddaughter.
There isnât anything they wouldnât do for Heaven and Macy.
Hence why it was nothing more than a simple favor for them to pull some strings behind the scenes to ensure that Jey wasnât aware of this meeting really being for Macy. Not Heaven. She knew that if he knew Macy wanted to see him, heâd immediately say no. Not that that would necessarily make much of a difference, either.
Again, there are a plethora of perks that come with being the daughter of Shelia and Clarence Jackson.
Including rules being malleable.Â
âActually,â she starts, feeling the way Macy holds Cookie closer to her chest, much like herself, her comfort stuffed animal presents with marginal outward indicators of survival. Despite the house she and Macy once called home more or less destroyed beyond the point of rehabbing, the firefighters pulled Cookie from the wreckage and despite obvious sighs of wear and tear, the body of Macyâs favorite stuffed animal remained enough for repair vs replacement. Hence Roman tracking down and sending Cookie to a stuffed animal restoration service that had their little girlâs stuffed companion looking just as it did before the fire.Â
If not better.Â
âIâm a Reigns.â
Heaven sees the moment his eyes drop to her hands that are locked in front of Macyâs stomach. Her left hand intentionally over her right. She picks up on the exact moment anger flashes in his irises that reflect the 10-carat, elongated cushion, D-F color, VVS clarity diamond rock on her finger.
And so is she.
An unspoken twist of the knife in his back. A knife he grabbed and intended to use against her.Â
She just got the upper hand.Â
âMacy has something she wants to say to you.âÂ
Itâs as she reminds Jey of the purpose of this meeting that she once more witnesses the shift. The way he presses his chapped lips together, an unspoken responseâor retortâretained as Macy wiggles on her lap.Â
Heavenâs grasp tightens once more.
âIâI just wanna say thatâthat you were really really mean to me.â Thereâs something about her opening statement, words that Heaven already heard and readâbut words that carry with them a different weight leaving her mouthâthat demands the focus of the room. Even as she stammers, thereâs an undertone of determination and anger that stirs up a whirlwind of emotions in Heaven. âYou hurt my feelings and you hurt my mommy, and I donât like you anymore!âÂ
âMacyââ
She doesnât even give him the opportunity, doubling down on what Heaven and Roman have heard several times over now in a variety of manners. âYouâre a bad bad man and a big meanine, and Iâm glad youâre not my daddy cause you were a really bad daddy.âÂ
âMacy, pleaseââ
âAnd I donât wanna see you anymore, orâor ever again, youâyou, butthead!â
Anyone without context of the situation unfolding would, perhaps, find the interaction humorous. This little girl, holding a stuffed animal, with her face contorted in anger, her arms protectively wrapped around her stuffed animal.
But for Heaven, itâs a sight that nearly brings tears to her eyes. Macy, sitting across from this man who almost caused her to lose her life, a man who should have protected her only to abandon her in her greatest time of need, expressing so clearly and without hesitation her raw, unfiltered sentiments. Infantile wording aside, itâs one of the most fortitudinous, powerful, admirable things Heaven has witnessed in some time. If ever.
She holds Macy tighter, closing her eyes and kissing the top of her head.
Iâm so proud of you.
An unspoken expression of admiration in comparison to the almost dumbfounded countenance that Jey wears, lips remaining pushed together, nothing but silence in the wake of Macyâs brave address.Â
Itâs then that Macy turns around, looking up at Heaven, her little fingers moving against Cookieâs stomach.
I love you, mommy.
Heaven swallows. Macy dismounting off her lap allows her to sign back, I love you, too, baby girl.
Acknowledgement that makes her firstborn beam brightly before she dashes over to Roman whoâd silently observed the entire interaction. He bends down and meets Macy just in time as she throws her body against his. Heaven watches him stand back up and kiss her temple, murmuring something that makes his expression soften for the first time. Big hand cradling the back of her head before his eyes close. Another scene that tugs at Heavenâs heart.Â
The love he holds for his daughter is sempiternal.Â
Heaven clears her throat and wipes at her watery eyes just as Roman opens his. Nonverbal communication between them, a small nod from her husband before he turns to leave without another word, Macy still in his arms.Â
Her amazing, lionhearted little fighter.
âSo thatâs what this is about?â Jeyâs grating voice forces Heavenâs attention as she drags her gaze back over to see whatever shock that was bred in the midst of Macyâs speech is long gone. That same vexation returned in its stead. âYou just wanted to rub shit in and use her to do it?â
Heaven blinks once, and then twice, her mouth opening and closing before she manages a whispered, low, single word. âWhat?â But itâs when he says nothing, turning his head and running his hand over his haggard looking face, that something starts to brew within. âThatâs what you got from this?â She leans over the table, nails digging into the metal, eyes narrowed. âShe almost died because of you.â Even saying it aloud makes Heaven feel as if a boulder has been dropped onto her chest, voice clipped and tight. âShe codââÂ
Silence
Some thingsâŚ..some things are just too painful to revisit. Having to discuss, in detail, the nightmare that was Macyâs hospitalization, including that moment, is something she canât bring herself to relive. Hasnât even allowed herself to process in therapy.
She canât.Â
Heaven shakes her head and adjusts her purse. Scoots back in the chair and starts to walk away when a loud banging sound forces her to turn around. Out the corner of her eye, she sees the guard in the corner drop his hand to his waist. Over his gun. But she raises her hand, eyes focused on the man before and below her.Â
âAnd I ainât suffered?â Jey huffs. Heaven watches with a muted expression as he too backs away from the table for the first time. Studies the motion and movement of him rolling to the side of the table, the large wheels squeaking against the floor. Slowly rakes her eyes over his body, once strong and padded with muscles and fat that fit his frame. That worked for him in a way that carried him to what ended up being the peak of his career. Now withered away. Thick legs and thighs all but slim and lithe. Heâs far from skin and bones, but the pronounced bulge of his knees that pokes out again the jumpsuit confirms that he has lost a lot of weight. Understandably so.Â
A man who was once active from the day he could walk, who everyone always joked at having ADHD given his inability to stay still for too long, rendered still in an unforgivable, permanent way. Healing from the beating that broke several ribs, punctured his lung, and left him clinging to life eventually came in the form of an almost two week long stint in the ICU. But the single bullet lodged in his back, the location an impossible one for surgeons to operate on and remove, wasnât as forgiving. There was no recovering from that. The bullet severed his spinal cord. His paralysis from the waist down, initially thought to perhaps be temporary, permanent and creating a different kind of punishment. One, in many ways, Heaven knows that, for Jey, will always outweigh whatever sentence awaits him.
Because the sentencing is punishment that offers flexibility. The confines of the prison with various rooms and extension that offer small, minute tastes of what freedom looks and feels like. Equally cruel as it is welcomed for some. A reminder of what impends of what will always be eluded. Reward perfectly balanced with consequence.
For Jey, there is no flexibility with this consequence.
Heaven knows that thatâs what tears him up the most.
Prison isnât his punishment.
Paralysis is.Â
And he admits as such, angrily gesturing down to his lap. âIâm never getting out of here, and even if I do, what the fuck am I gonâ do?â His bottom lip trembles, something rising and simmering in his undertone. âI canât do shit!â He snaps, scoffing and shaking his head, resting and leaning into his despair. âMy career over. Life over. Ainât nothing I got left but my anger.â
Heaven stares at him. Stares at this man she once thought hung the sun, moon, and stars in the sky. That she truly believed would be her forever until the day she died. And, in a strange, wicked sort of way, that was almost the case.Â
She almost died because of him.Â
Macy almost died because of him.
NoâŚ..murdered.
They were almost murdered because of him, and even now, in the face of two lives he almost tookâone with deliberate intention and the other with callous negligenceâhe still can only think about himself.Â
He hasnât changed.
And he never will.Â
Heaven lifts her eyes to his, met with nothing but dense hostility and self-pity. All of which bounce off and land in the pile of irrelevance and insignificance, right where they belong.Â
Just like him.Â
âGoodbye, Jey.âÂ
Jey Uso, former WWE Superstar and cousin to fellow WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, was sentenced on Thursday to 40 years in federal prison on several charges, including the attempted murder of his now ex-wife, Heaven Reigns. This comes after a month long trial that included over 700 pieces of evidence presented to the court, as well as both Mr. and Mrs. Reigns taking the witness stand to testify. The story has received massive media coverage both domestic and abroad given the celebrity status of the involved parties as well as the scandalous nature of the case.Â
Mr. Usoâs rapid downfall came on the brink of an illustrious career and seemingly perfect family life. In 2024, at the peak of said career, Uso, while watching the then five year-old child he shared with Heaven, became intoxicated (his BAC was later revealed to be 3x the legal limit) and passed out with a cigar in hand. This resulted in the home catching fire. Uso escaped with minor injuries, but the child, Macy Reigns, was severely injured and placed in a medically induced coma. She was hospitalized for almost two weeks before being discharged.
Uso and Reigns [Roman] reportedly engaged in an altercation at the hospital while the child was being treated, and witnesses reported that Heaven then revealed Mr. Reigns as Macyâs biological father. This, as referenced by the prosecutors during the trial, was believed to be the major catalyst for Usoâs violent attack.
Jey reportedly sent Roman a threatening text message approximately an hour before tracking down Heaven at The Four Seasons, where her parents, famed attorneys Shelia and Clarence Jackson, had booked a room upon learning of the fire. It was there that Jey assaulted and attempted to murder Heaven. Roman reportedly arrived at the hotel prior to authorities and attempted to de-escalate the situation, but a scuffle ensued between the two men, which resulted in Mrs. Reigns being shot.Â
Heaven underwent emergency surgery and was intubated and heavily sedated for 48 hours. She ultimately recovered and was discharged a week later.
A manhunt then ensued after Uso attempted to flee but was eventually found three days after the shooting following an anonymous tip. Reports surfaced that relatives of Uso and Reigns were complicit in helping him evade authorities, but no charges were ever made in conjunction to this claim. Uso was later found unconscious, beaten, and shot in an abandoned home. Doctors were reportedly unable to remove the bullet from Uso that severed his spine and left him paralyzed from the waist down. Following his release from the hospital, he was formally arrested by the Tampa Police Department.Â
Both Mr. Reigns and his son, San Franciso 49ers player Nathan Reigns, were initially listed as suspects in Usoâs shooting, but both were cleared when the shooter turned himself in. It was then revealed that Mr. Reigns then wife and Heavenâs cousin, Camryn Reigns, hired a hitman to kill Jey Uso in fear of his disclosing their alliance and stratagem.
Subpoenaed texts and phone logs revealed that both Camryn and Jey engaged in a years long affair that dated back to high school. Emails allegedly showed the two discussing and planning their lie regarding Nathan Reigns paternity to avoid Jey being a teenage father and Camryn believing Roman to have more âpotentialâ than his cousin. Other emails and texts also revealed constant communication over the years that prosecutors highlight to emphasize malicious intent and coercion. This included Camryn reportedly walking Uso through ways to save his marriage amidst alcohol addiction and abuse that Heaven disclosed while on the witness stand.Â
Several mental health and medical professionals involved in the care and treatment of both Heaven and Macy also took the witness stand. It was reported that Macy was diagnosed with PTSD several months after the fire and had to be homeschooled because of extreme separation anxiety. In addition, it was also shared that she remains unable to sleep alone and now has an emotional support animal, the latter of which came at the recommendation of her therapist. Now eight, she is reportedly back in school but remains in consistent therapy.Â
Heaven, who was three months pregnant at the time, left her job at a law firm where she worked as a paralegal, while Reigns also took an indefinite leave from WWE. In spring of this year, it was reported that Heavenâs petition to have Jeyâs parental rights terminated and Roman legally recognized as Macyâs father were granted. Itâs also been reported that Macyâs last name was legally changed to Reigns.
Around this time, Romanâs former wife, Camryn Jackson, was sentenced to 30 years in Florida Department of Corrections. Jackson was being tried in two separate cases, one of which was Solicitation to Commit First-Degree Murder. The other charges were for a slew of crimes regarding her businesses including, racketeering, money laundering, witness tampering, and more.Â
She was found guilty on all charges in both cases, despite it being rumored both she and Uso were trying to work out deals with the DA to share key information regarding their crimes in exchange for lighter sentences.Â
These deals, seemingly, failed to materialize.Â

OP: This a continuation/combined thread from the initial one following Jey Usoâs trial. I know we hate these two tabloid cesspools, but they have the most recent, up to date information. https://www.tmz.com/2026/09/08/jey-uso-sentenced-to-40-years-update/ https://www.dailymail.com/sport/wwe/article-157513/jey-uso-found-guilty-in-attempted-murder-trial.html

@sayyestoheav3nn: YES! This might just be the best thing Iâve read all day idc. đĽş
@annoyedkayah2395 THATâS WHAT HIS ASS GET. I KNOW ROMAN AND HEAVEN SO HAPPY.Â
@unapologeticqueen94: Wonât He do it! Itâs still so crazy to me how this all played out. đŠ
@unapologeticqueen94 replying to @annoyedkayah2395: Same. And to think what had already been spilled on here was only the tip of the icebergâŚ.
@mackfinstathrowitback: Good riddance. I hope he rots in that prison for the rest of his miserable ass life.Â
@privateeyes95: H and R must be so relieved that this is all over.Â
@youluvego: Still say they should have left his ass in a burning house. Without the wheelchair. đ
@aldrigmer444 replying to @youluvego: I wish you could hear the way I screamed at this. đ
@suhlestuh: Someone pointed out earlier in the thread how in the the photos of Heaven and Roman walking hand in hand, in and out of court throughout during the trial, you could always see/tell how distraught she was in the afters. âšď¸
@beas-mind replying to @suhlestuh: Can you blame her? Some of those recaps from the court reporters were hard for me to listen to. I canât imagine how it was for them.
@nadadork: I read somewhere that they had to take several breaks throughout the whole thing because Heaven kept breaking down on the witness stand. đ
@fearlesschimera replying to @nadadork: Yes and no. It was said one or two times she needed a break while testifying about Jeyâs abuse and Macyâs recovery journey. The other breaks were during testimony given by others.
@mytribalnightmare: I donât know how she did it TBH.Â
@southerngirl41: Iâm still kinda shocked how much we saw Roman in all of this. Heâs usually so private.Â
@xnightmarexpunkx replying to @southerngirl41: Iâm not. Idk how private anyone could be with how public this all has been. Not to mention, itâs obvious heâs deeply devoted and in love with Heaven. Itâs always been obvious tbh, but with how he openly admitted and acknowledged it during the trial confirmed it.
@diamondlifeee: This really is the best thing ever. Macy and Heaven finally got the justice they deserve. đĽşđĽşđĽşđĽş
@callmekayd: He really did put it all out on the table in that trial.Â
@differenttastemakerkitty replying to @callmekayd: He kind of had to or else heâd be held in contempt of court.Â
@palmwinemami: Naw. He could have plead the fifth like his slow ass cousin.
@drivefouronthefloor replying to @palmwinemami: Jey didnât even do that. He didnât testify at all, and I donât blame him. The case against him was so solid and the defense so weak, there really wasnât anything to say to dig him out of that big ass hole he put himself in.Â
@/livingandlovinglife26: Got the notification and started crying at my desk. As a DV survivor and mother myself, Heavenâs story has resonated so deeply with me.Â
@/stupidbitch1: Am I missing something here? Yeah, Jey tried to kill her, hence the attempted murder charge, but prior to that, it was the punch in the ER and another years prior. Not condoning any of it, but I just find it weird how some folks are trying to make this and Heaven out to be something that itâs/sheâs not.Â
@/annoying1 replying to @/stupidbitch1: Shhhh. Not so loud. Her defense squad gonâ come after you, girl. đ
@/stupidbitch1 replying to @/annoying1: Thank you! The way everyone is trying to make it seem like she was some poor, battered housewife is insane. Her parents are famous lawyers. She grew up privileged and rich. If Jey was this horrible monster the entire time they were together, she had plenty of options. And she couldnât have been too scared of him to be openly fucking his cousin who was also her cousin and supposed âsisterâ husband. Come on now. đ
@beas-mind replying to @/annoying1 and @/stupidbitch1: You both sound so ignorant right now. I truly donât know where to start. Itâs obvious you havenât read the court transcripts or justâŚ.educated yourself on the specifics of the case. DV is DV. Isolated or consistent, it doesnât matter. Itâs all the same. All wrong. Heaven said herself during her testimony that she truly hadnât remembered the abuse and that it wasnât until a conversation with her mom, ironically, the day of the fire, that triggered the memories. Even the expert witness cosigned this being a common thing amongst many survivors.Â
@sayyestoheav3nn: We really got people in here defending an abusive ass alcoholic who almost killed his daughter and literally tried to kill his wifeâŚ.
@/dumbhoe1 replying to @/stupidbitch1 and @/annoying1: Donât waste your time or breath. These people so biased. Itâs appalling.Â
@jayjayem1999 replying to @/dumbhoe1: Biased how? Everyone is literally laying out facts.
@/stupidbitch1 replying to @jayjayem1999: Yes. Facts to support their biases. Letâs call a spade a spade. Only reason yaâll riding so hard for Heaven is cause sheâs a brown skin, monoracial black woman. Sheâs also a cheater and a liar, but yaâll not trying to hear that.Â
@annoyedkayah2395: YAâLL DONT LIKE THESE TWO BUT IN THEY THREAD??? IF YOU DON'T GO ON SOMEWHERE AND BE STEVIE WONDER TF
@/annoying1 replying to @/stupidbitch1: Exactly. Not to mention the self-haters that are trying to live vicariously through her cause of that hoe ass light skin man she stole from her cousin.Â
@unapologeticqueen94 replying to @/annoying1 and @/stupidbitch1: I KNOW yaâll not talking about Camryn trifling ass. The same cousin who literally been scheming and plotting against this girl since they were kids? Who gave Jey Heavenâs location knowing his ass wasnât trying to bring her no flowers? Who gave Jey almost 100k after his dumbass almost bankrupt he and Heaven solely because she didnât want her cousin leaving SlowMan cause she knew Roman was gonâ divorce her ass to be with the real love of his life? Who KNEW Jey was abusing her cousin and was smiling in Heaven face while secretly advising him on ways to manipulate Heaven into staying with him? Who PAID for the engagement ring that Jey proposed to Heaven with? A proposal that only happened because Camryn trifling ass TOLD him he needed to propose cause it was the only way to keep Heaven from leaving him after he sent her to the ER?Â
@privateeyes95 replying to @unapologeticqueen94: Donât forget how she and Jey literally pinned a child on Roman she knew wasnât his and Jey knew was his. Just because she wanted to trap Roman.Â
@chocovibesonly: Yaâll, donât pay the Free R Kelly gang no mind. They been all up over this site throughout the whole trial saying the same problematic shit. Itâs gotta be rage bait at this point.Â
@annoying1 replying to @chocovibesonly: Weâre rage baiting for holding a black woman accountable for wronging another black woman? Heaven was literally fucking that man all over CAMRYNâS house. Had him pretending to be that childâs uncle when she knew all along he was the father.
@southerngirl41 replying to @/annoying1: Like how she knew Jey was Nathanâs biological father?
@callmekayd: As someone whoâs been fully engaged with any and all information regarding this trial and the situation as a whole, Heaven and Roman were wild and wrong for carrying on as they did. But when you look at everything Jey and Camryn did, how they orchestrated everything so that H and R wouldnât be together. Hurting whoever they needed to in the process with no regard for anyone elseâŚHeaven and Roman did nothing wrong.Â
@tribalray10 replying to @callmekayd: I agree with all of this. Itâs crazy as hell when you think about it because in most situations, H and R would be dragged through the mud, but all they are is two people who love each other and were kept apart because of fake ass, evil ass, jealous ass people. đ
@fame-ass-ers: I know this is probably the wrong time to bring this up, but am I the only one still shook and clutching pearls by all the details that came about Heaven and Romanâs sex life? đ
@unapologeticqueen94 replying to @fame-ass-ers: LISTEN!!!! We knew his ass was putting her through that mattress, but the way my jaw dropped when they asked about how often they was getting it on, and they both said several times a week. Sometimes twice a day. đŠđŠđŠđŠ
@jaded-human replying to @fame-ass-ers: Wait, whaaaatttttt? How I miss this!
@fame-ass-ers replying to @jaded-human: Girl, yes. One of the folks who was attending the trial gave all the details. I believe it was part of Jeyâs weak ass defense attempt to villainize Heaven and attack her character. Iâll PM you the link.
@Incog: Wow. So I guess cheating is okay if youâre brown or dark skinned or pretty. Youâre all disgusting.Â
@Incog: Did he pick any of yaâll yet?
@Incog: Iâll wait.Â

@itskii01: Sometimes I really wish Condi would close this shit off and stop allowing new members to join. đ
@Incog replying to @itskii01: Whoâs Condi?
@itskii01: I rest my case.Â
The corner of her lips slowly but surely stretch and lift until the smile spread across her face makes her skin feel taught and tight. Small, barely visible lines sprouting near her eyes that squint when she makes the transition from inside to outside. Her Gucci flip flops slapping against the quartz stone as she lifts her her hand to create a makeshift visor from the scorching sun that illuminates the backyard.Â
A backyard thatâs filled with a variety of soundsâmusic, chatter, laughterâthat last one being the thing to make the warmth bloom in her stomach. Walking across the patio to the rattan loungers that line the pool, a loud gasp leaps from her mouth at the same time the leap of a body into the pool from the diving board snatches her focus.
Breathing is briefly halted. Her fingers grasp at the sheer material of her orange bikini cover, knotted on the side and sitting right above the pudge of her stomach. She scratches her nails against her thigh, feeling the tips dig into her skin. The tightening sensation in her chest canceled out by the sight of two bodies emerging from under the water.Â
Macyâs happy laughter does away with Heavenâs tension, her shoulders falling and relaxing at the sight of her sweet little girl.
Arms raised happily, her hair tucked away and under her swim cap. A set of tanned arms around her body, his own hair weighed down by the water. Loose, short curls sticking against the side of his face. Nate smiles and lifts his hand when Macy turns to look at him, securing a high five before he gestures to Heaven.
Macyâs eyes light up. âMommy!â
Heavenâs smile deepens. Nathan lets her down and wades with her as she swims to the edge of the pool where Heaven meets her. He helps lift her from the water as Heaven leans down and carries out the rest of the task. Macy beams up at her mom, signing, did you see me, mommy?
Heaven laughs and signs back. Sure did, baby. Youâre doing such a good job.Â
Nathan scoffs from where he leans over the side of the pool, inked arms across the stone. âSheâs got a good teacher.âÂ
Heaven rolls her eyes as Macy, clueless to what was just said given the absence of her hearing aids, turns to him. Iâm gonna swim faster than you some day.
Nathan sucks his teeth and shakes his head. No way. Never gonna happen. He kicks off the wall, lips turned into a smirk as he manages a quick, youâre too slow.
Macy gasps and spins around, giving herself just enough space to ârunâ as she jumps back in the water.Â
Heaven waits until she emerges, Nathan once more near and close, ensuring she stays afloat as she splashes water at his face.
âBe careful.â Her warning is accompanied by her quick signing, Macyâs focus back on her brother as he continues to help her strengthen her swimming skills. Itâs still a bit of a struggle, what with her being in the water without her hearing aids. But itâs one Heaven is working through, and seeing how happy it makes her baby is more than reason enough for her to learn how to manage her discomfort for the sake of he childâs happiness.
Macy more than deserves it.
âMama!â
Heaven snaps her head to the side, once more, that familiar warm, glowing feeling in belly rising and traveling, wrapping itself around her heart.Â
âThereâs my baby.â
Assisting in closing the distance, Heaven reaches her arms at the same time her mom does. Sheliaâs arm secured under her bottom, dark coils damp and dripping small droplets of water down her honeyed complexion. She wears that happy smile and grasps at Heavenâs hand while she kisses her temple.
Shelia watched the interaction with an undeniable expression of pride and lighthearted humor. âShe started wiggling the moment she heard your voice. Or saw you come out.â
âShe knows her mama.â Heaven giggles, looking down at her youngest daughter. âDonât you, Lia?â
Kalia beams up, pouty lips stretched and revealing all 11 of her teeth. 12, if you include the small speck of white starting to protrude from her gums. Something sheâs recently made sure her parents donât forget about via her screeching and whining. Especially when itâs time for her to eat.Â
Shelia stands before her daughter and granddaughter, reaching and caressing the back of her head. âShe looks so much like Macy when she was her age.â
Heaven briefly darts her gaze from her baby daughter to her mother. âShe does.â Outside of Kaliaâs complexion being a few shades lighter and her texture slightly looser than Macyâs, a side by side photo would otherwise indicate, at the very least, fraternal twins. The differences, so far, seem to be more personality based than appearance based. Macy was always a calm baby. KaliaâŚ.not so much.
Heaven shifts her daughter from one side to the other, allowing her baby girl to tug at her hair with one hand and grab at her boobs with the other. It makes her chuckle quietly. âWhereâsââ
âYou already know.âÂ
A quick dragging of her gaze behind her mother makes Heaven chuckle once more.
Of course.
She grabs Kaliaâs little hand, helping her wave goodbye before the two make their way across the yard. The smile growing on mother and daughterâs face as the distance closes, sun shifting and highlighting several side profiles, including the first who turns from the grill to greet them.
Turns just enough for Heaven to meet another set of eyes, smaller, just like the rest of him. Chunky arms and chubby cheeks that stretch into a smile as he opens his mouth, making loud happy sounds.
âMama!âÂ
The same word. The same warmth and joy that blooms in abundance.Â
Heaven steps up onto the patio, her father and Jimmyâs attention set on her as she leans over to kiss the top of Kanoaâs head, coils softly brushing her lips.
âHi, baby boy.â
Her son.
Naturally, she straightens up just in time to catch Romanâs mouth for a quick peck.Â
âHey, baby,â he murmurs, right as she adjusts Kalia once more when she starts wiggling her arms. An expected reaction, as is the next thing.
Whining and bailing from both babies who are now looking at each other, both wearing the same pout and scowl. Small, short arms wagging in the air, as if swatting away a pesky gnat. Except the gnat is each other.
Roman sighs. âThere they go.âÂ
And without any words needing to be said, they exchange babies. Heaven holding Kanoa, and Roman holding Kalia. It grants momentary peace as the parents affectionately interact with their 13 month-old twins, but itâs a short lived span of peace.
The babbling, whining, and wiggling resume.
Clarence chuckles, arms crossed as he shakes his head. âAnd to think those two shared a womb for nine months.âÂ
Jimmy chimes in as Heaven kisses Kanoaâs little palm. Roman manages to flip over the burgers on the grill as Kalia attempts to pull his hair from the hair tie. In a couple minutes, Heaven has no doubt, sheâll find success. She always does. âSo much for the family tradition of tag team champs.â
âItâs just with us,â Heaven sighs, looking between her youngest as they continue to exchange âwordsâ and attempted blows, all in the name of jealousy. âThey donât do it with anyone else.â
And they donât. Most of the time, Kalia and Kanoa are thick as thieves. Interacting and playing just fine, even sharing in ways that most babies their age struggle with.
Except when it comes to their parents.
If Kalia sees Roman or Heaven holding Kanoa, whatever adorable smile that was on her face is wiped away with the quickness. A tantrum unfolding within a matter of minutes. And vice versa with Kanoa. Itâs almost as if they want their parents to themselves. Donât want to share. Sometimes a funny thing to behold but also something both Heaven and Roman pray they grow out of.
Sooner rather than later.Â
âFoodâs almost ready,â Roman updates, Heaven nodding, turning to see her mom sitting near the edge of the pool, watching Nathan continue to assist Macy with her swimming lessons.Â
Candy on the other side, on her stomach, tongue out and tail wagging. An understandable placement. Sheâs never too far from Macy. Not far at all.
True to his word, dinner is served not too long after. Thus, gathering everyone around the two Teak wood tables that are conjoined together to accommodate the large group of individuals. Not to mention the two high chairs that are pulled up, each placed right next to Heaven and Roman. Both remain unused. Kalia and Kanoa instead opt to âsitâ on their parents laps, often reaching and attempting to steal from their plates, despite being fed the appropriate portions for such young babies.Â
âIâm telling you,â Shelia starts, wiping at the corner of her mouth, her gaze set across the table where her daughter and son-in-law sit. She lifts her hand, index finger bouncing between the two, the light reflecting off her wedding ring and highlighting the subtle sparkles in her ruby red nail polish. âThose two are gonna be the ones to test yaâll.âÂ
Beside her, Clarence nods, offering agreement and a point of distinction. âMacy was never as wild as they are.â
Heaven rolls her eyes, bouncing Kalia while guiding a chunk of her Hawaiian bread that she broke off to her mouth. Naturally, her fingers grab at the bread that she plops in her mouth, chewing slowly as if needing to make sure it tastes the same as her last few bites. âDaddy.â
Roman lifts his head, momentarily distracted from interacting with Kanoa, who uses that brief distraction to swipe a fry off the plate, and turns to his wife. Heaven, seconds away from panicking, never more grateful to see her father had been looking at something on his phone, as had her mom. Thus the way she elbows him, earning a quiet grunt as she looks at him with an unspoken, âare you insane?â
Unfortunately, while the interaction is missed by, perhaps the people it needed to be missed by the most, thatâs not the case for others.
Nathan stares across the table with an undeniable look of disgust. âIf yaâll want me to go to therapy, then all you gotta do is say so.â
His comment catches the attention of Macy who sits beside him, at the end of the table, Candy laying on the ground beside her, Cookie in her lap. She looks up at him with a bright smile. âAre you gonna see Mrs. Tess, too?âÂ
Tess being Macyâs therapist sheâs worked with weekly since the the fire.
âHe gon see some lady, thatâs for sure.â Jimmyâs unnecessary addition earns him a similar response as Heaven to Roman. He grunts loudly when Naomi slaps him on his arm, muttering something lost under the chatter of the rest of the table. Primarily on the other end where Clarence, Shelia, and Patrice, Romanâs mother, are in the midst of laughing at something completely unrelated to the NSFW interaction that, somehow, managed to remain under the radar.Â
For the most part.Â
Patriceâs lips stretch into a smile. She lifts her glasses to the top of her sandy brown hair, cut in a short bob that brushes against her jawline thatâs sharp, much like the rest of her features. While Roman held a close resemblance to his father, his smile, the same as Patrice, reveal how much of his motherâs looks he inherited just the same.Â
âThat explains it.â She blots the corner of her eyes with the back of her hand, gesturing over to her son. âRoman was just like the twins as babies. Always moving. Always wanting to get into something.â
âSee, that was Heaven when she hit her terrible twoâs. Prior to that, she was a little angel. Proved that we did right by naming her what we did.âÂ
âWell, yaâll should have named those twoââ Jimmy snaps his finger, face contorted in deep focus, majority of the adults already knowing itâs about to be some shit with him. âWhatâs the name of them twin girls from The Shining?â
âJimmy.â
âUncle Jimmy.â
âJim.âÂ
Various sounds of protests and chastening evoke a temporary respite with the colored commentary from the self-proclaimed comedian in the family. Jimmy lifts his hands, palms carrying lingering crumbs from the meal heâd all but devoured less than ten minutes after stacking his plate with an ungodly amount of food. Somewhat similar to Roman. But in her husbandâs defense, heâs sharing his with their son who seems like heâs going to take after his daddyâs side of the family when it comes to appetite.Â
Boy can eat. Itâs partially why Heaven was relieved when she started the process of incorporating food into the babiesâ diets. It seemed like every hour on the hour Kanoa was wanting to nurse again. Developing motor skills allowing his loud cries to eventually transition into the groping, smacking, and squeezing of her breast. Even now, she has to correct him when he attempts to reach inside of her bra.Â
Heâs determined as hell, too.
âFine, Iâll change the subject,â Jimmy smacks his teeth, looking over at Heaven as she helps hold the cup of apple juice that Kalia is currently drinking from. âHeaven, howâs it going working for that Mormon lady?âÂ
She closes her eyes as Roman makes a sound beside her.
âJim,â Naomi expresses, exasperation splashed all over her face and voice as she turns to look at her husband. Silky, dark tresses splashed across her shoulder, smooth, beautiful melanin shining and shimmering under the sun that sneaks past the shade allotted by the Reigns covered patio. âYou got one more time.âÂ
âSheâs not Mormon, Jimmy,â Heaven corrects while also offering an answer. âBut good. Really good. I like it there, and sheâs one of the nicest people Iâve ever met.âÂ
âMost Mormon people are, so I hearââ
âJimmy!â
âWhat?â He defends, shaking his head, saying something thatâs missed as Heaven looks over at her dad.Â
âWait, is the organization Mormon based?â Clarence turns to his wife, Patrice also paying attention what with the way she looks between the involved parties. âDid you know that?âÂ
âIt is not a Mormon organization,â Heaven stresses, leaning back in her chair, bouncing her leg as Kalia moves to stand up on her lap. âAnd my boss is not Mormon. But even if she was, that wouldnât have stopped me from accepting the position.â
And it wouldnât have.Â
There were several variables that Heaven sat on and pondered over deeply before ultimately making the decision to leave the place sheâd worked at for so long in favor of something that was both old and new.
The biggest one, perhaps, was returning to work afterâŚ.everything that happened. That they were still in the midst of. Macy. The trial. Having twin babies that werenât even a year yet. All of it.
Heaven can still recall the similar expressions she received when initially bringing it up to both her husband and parents. They thought she was crazy for wanting to return to work so âsoon.â Were all, essentially, in agreement that she needed to allow herself the continued, necessary time to heal and adjust to all the changes.
She didnât necessarily disagree.Â
She was still working to find her rhyme and rhythm in several areas of her life, and it wasnât even working, itself, that was calling her name. That resonated with her. Forever a woman with a strong work ethic, family always came first. Always.Â
But it was the nature of the work that captured and snagged her attention.Â
It was the organization.Â
Almaâs Hope.
The largest, domestic, non-profit organization focusing on providing resources and safe havens for women and children seeking asylum from abusive households. They have shelters all over the country and even a few in Mexico. Heaven was familiar with the organization, had come across the name a few times over the years, but it was when she was looking up something recommended by her therapist that she stumbled across them once more. A chance reminder of something that, at one point in her life, she would have sworn up and down would never be a part of her story.Â
Never in a million years did she think that sheâd end up a survivor of domestic violence.Â
But she is.
And itâs still something sheâs trying to come to terms with, has focused on in a handful of therapy sessions.Â
Like many, Heaven had a generic, default definition of such a thing. A conceptualization formulated based off of stereotypical media depictions. Most more overt examples. Heaven didnât have to spend extra time in the mirror applying makeup to hide bruises that only multiplied as time went on. She wasnât being isolated from her family. Wasnât constantly trying to come up with excuses to explain to the ER doctors how sheâd sustained such injuries. Not on a consistent basis. It did, eventually, occur. The isolated incident where Jeyâs verbal and emotional abuse while battling alcoholism escalated into physical abuse.
Heâd hit her.Â
Left her bruised.Â
Left her bleeding.Â
Left her sitting on the edge of the patient table struggling with an excuse to feed that would be believed.
She was in the mirror, tears streaming down her face as she tried to hide the bruise. That was her, and coming to terms with that, with the fact that Jeyâs abuse started long before the night he tried to kill her, has been nothing short of difficult.Â
But itâs also been liberating and empowering. Largely due to Heaven reaching out to the local shelter and learning what made and makes Almaâs Hope so different than the âusualâ safe havens. The infinite number of resources, from therapy, insurance, monthly vouchers, and housing allowances when those seeking asylum âgraduateâ from the in-house program and are placed in secure subdivisions owned and overseen by the organization. A massive collective striving to protect and educate. And when Heaven attended one of the support group meetings for women who werenât actively in a DV situation, didnât require protection, but were looking to define and navigate what âafterâ looks like, she knew that she wanted to contribute. Wanted to give back more than she received. That, unexpectedly, came in the form of a job offer from the CEO. A position within the legal department that offered an unheard of level of flexibility. Hybrid with a full slate of benefits, regardless if Heaven opted for part time vs full time. Decent, salaried pay. Paid, mandatory mental health days in conjunction with unlimited PTO. If Heaven hadnât personally met and interacted with several staff members, including the founder herself, sheâd have balked. It was too good to be true, but it wasnât. It was very much true, and it was something Heaven almost felt like she had to accept.Â
Not because she felt pressured. But because it felt like a necessary component in this next chapter of a new, different, scary, yet somehow improved life of hers. Eventually coming to terms with what sheâd survived and using it to support others like her.Â
Other survivors.
Thus, when she explained it that way, she was met with newfound sense of understanding and agreement from Roman and her parents. And a few months into the acceptance, she has zero regrets. Heaven loves what she does now. Still paralegal work but for a completely different cause and reasons.Â
Reasons that matter so much more than anything sheâs done prior to this.Â
âHow many kids?â Nathanâs wide eyes in conjunction with his exclamation break Heaven from her thoughts. Especially when he turns his focus to her. âYou sure they ainât Mormon?â
âOh my God,â she murmurs, eyes closed, head tilted back. âIf yaâll donââ
âMommy. Daddy. Whatâs Mormon?â
Macyâs unexpected insertion into the conversation, her voice soft and curious, prompts Heaven to open her eyes and lower her head to see Macy âsneakingâ food to Candy.Â
âSomething youâre not allowed to be.â
Heaven snaps her head to look at Roman, Kanoa fisting and pulling on his shirt. âRoman.âÂ
âBaby girl is right,â Jimmy cosigns, his loud ass chewing muffling his voice and commentary that not even a mouth full of food can stop. âWe Baptist over here.â
Nathan shakes his head, pointing out, âdad, grandma, and basically that entire side of my family are Catholic.â
âThatâs close enough. Baptist and Catholic are just second cousins, twice removed.âÂ
But as the majority of the table admonish Jimmy for being, well, Jimmy, Heaven canât help the small smile at play on her face.Â
She smiles because as out of pocket his commentary is, the entire conversation is, itâs a dynamic, at one point, she thought to be lost forever.
She thought a lot of the dynamics regarding several individuals sitting at the table to be lost and gone forever.
Heaven is far from naive nor is she stupid. Regardless of the fact that Jeyâs crimes far outweigh anything she did or could have ever done, she recognizes that her own actions, Romanâs actions, even without the violence that followed, would have fractured the family unit. The deception, secrecy, years long affair, withholding true paternity while feigning a false one, and everything else that got picked up and flung at she and Roman during the trial by the defense, would shatter anyoneâs family. And in many ways, it has.
Rikishi and Tala havenât spoken to Heaven and, subsequently, Macy, since roughly three months following the fire. And that last interaction was nothing short of nasty. Harsh, hurtful words from both ends that ultimately resulted in no contact. An outcome Heaven knows would have been reached regardless when they chose to stand by Jey during the trial. Believed and sided with the defense in that it was Heavenâs actions over the years that contributed to his âpsychotic break.â Her knowingly and âopenlyâ engaging in an affair with a man she always knew to be Macyâs real father while constantly âbadgeringâ and âvilifyingâ an âinnocentâ man.Â
But they werenât the only ones.Â
Several members of Jey and Romanâs side of the family sided with him. Have cut off contact with Roman as well.Â
The bulk, however, have all condemned Jeyâs actions and denounced him altogether.
Including Jimmy.
ThatâŚ.that will always be the most surprising thing to Heaven. Not because, morally speaking, it didnât make sense. It made all the sense. Jimmy witnessed Jey assault her in the hospital, and if that, for whatever reason, wasnât enough, everything else certainly was.Â
It took a little time, sure. A few weeks of Jimmy disengaging from everyone, needing time to collect himself. Heaven understood it. Roman, however, was less understanding. Believed that it should have been an immediate, âfuck youâ to Jey.Â
She disagreed.Â
Thereâs being brothers, and thereâs being twins. Having grown up with the guys, she knows how close Jimmy and Jey were. Has seen firsthand how Jimmy always tried to look out for his little brother. She grieved on his behalf. Losing a brother in the way that he did, in some ways, is a worst fate then death. Death, arguably, would be easier. Thereâs finality in that realm. No options or wonderings. With this, there will always be, sheâs certain, a part of him that wonders if and how things could have been different.Â
Sometimes she, too, wonders the same.Â
Breaking away from the table isnât terribly difficult. Handing off Kalia to Roman was initially met with a scowl and whiningâfrom both the babies. But dissatisfaction at being âabandonedâ is set aside in favor of her youngest redirecting her irritation to her brother who was more than ready to match energy. The last thing Heaven overhears is Roman lecturing the twins for swatting at each other.
YeahâŚ.
Something tells her that while Macy seemingly has zero interest in wrestling, that wonât be the case for the twins.Â
The minute theyâre old enough to be put into some sort of sport, Heaven will be first in line to ensure their spots. They have way too much energy that needs to be channeled in a healthy manner. One that wonât send their parents to an early grave. Sheâs almost certain the strand of gray hair her hairdresser pointed out at her last appointment is solely due to them.Â
Leaning back against the counter, her thumb swipes up the last open app on her phone when she darts her eyes up from the screen.Â
Her small smile met with a similar one. Head craned up, she hits the side button, placing it on the granite behind her. âHey.âÂ
Nathan walks to lean against island so heâs standing opposite of her. Mirroring her position, he crosses his arms over one another, dark ink, old mixed with new, a brief reminder of whatâd resulted in her subtly nodding towards the house for him to follow her.Â
âHey,â he greets. His eyes narrowing, sprouting small, minimal lines around his eye area, makes her smile deepen. He looks so much like Roman when he does that. âYou gonâ tell me whatâs up?â But an expression of suspicion morphs into horror. âYouâre not pregnant, are you?â
And now Heaven is the one mirroring him, her eyes widening. âAbsolutely not. You know your dad got a vasectomy.âÂ
It was a decision theyâd come to shortly before the twins were born. An easy one, too. Neither one of them were interested or wanting to expand their family anymore than the current members. Hence his vasectomy and her tubal litigation.Â
âWell, I donât know. You working for that lady with 18 kids and countingââ
âNathan.â Heaven rolls her eyes and shifts her weight from one foot to another, the quiet laughter between them dying down and allowing for the transition into what she really wants to discuss with him. Needs to. âShe reached out to you again, didnât she?âÂ
And just like that, any trace of humor disappears. He looks away, tip of his tongue wetting the corner of his mouth. âLookââ
âNathan,â Heaven interrupts. Itâs never been in her nature to be that person. To not allow for free, open communication. But similar to Roman, she knows Nathan like the back of her hand. Knows that heâs so much like Roman that anything to come out of his mouth next would be deflection and unproductive, thus her interruption. âI told you before, and Iâm gonna say it again, what happened between myself and Camryn had nothing to do with you.â
âAââ
She steps closer. âIt doesnât change the fact that sheâs your mother, and at the end of the day, if you want to speak with her, if you want to try to repair things with her, then baby, thatâs what I want you to do.â Heaven shakes her head, voice softening, âdonât allow my situation to dictate yours.â
Because despite this conversation happening once or twice already, thatâs exactly whatâs happened.Â
Heaven knows for a fact that Nathan hasnât spoken to Camryn since that day in the hospital, the altercation in the hallway where she unknowingly revealed several life changing truths. And it wasnât even a conversation between mother and son in as much as, it seems, a dissolution of the pairing.Â
She learned through Roman that Nathan was contemplating a visit to see Camryn in jail while she was awaiting trial, but heâd changed his mind last minute. He also hasnât responded to Camâs attempts to speak with him, information Heaven obtained through her parents legal connections. Again, she would never use them to benefit herself, but sheâd damn sure use them for the people she loves.
And she has.Â
âThat woman stopped being my mother the minute she told him where you were.â
Nathanâs cold, emotionless response to her heartfelt message is both doleful and surprising. For one and many reasons.Â
Heaven will be the first to admit that her own feelings towards the woman she once considered a sister more than anything areâŚ.complicated, to say the least. Macy being on the brink of death was terrifying enough to the point that Heaven finding out about her cousin and husband having an affair exposed via sex tapes wasnât something that had really registered at that moment. But the confrontation at the hospital, learning that Camryn had lied to and manipulated her about Nathanâs paternity, amongst other things, triggered something. It triggered anger that would only and exponentially extrapolate over time as all of the skeletons started being yanked from the closet.
The years of lies.
Of scheming. Of plotting.Â
OfâŚ..evilness.Â
How someone she shared so many special, precious moments with was at the same time the mastermind behind some of Heavenâs darkest moments, too. The ineffable concept of this woman who sheâd laughed with, cried with, gone through life withâfrom first kisses, first heartbreaks, late night clubbing, and Mari concerts that were often documented in IG posts now scrubbed from a profile thatâs as barren as the relationship, sisterhood, between two cousinsâwas nothing more than a facade. Kindness used to cloak and conceal transgressions. The entire time Heaven believed Camryn was helping her keep pressure applied to gushing, painful wounds, she was also the one who caused said wounds and always had another knife cunningly hidden behind her back, just waiting to be used.Â
Heaven still canât quite comprehend what she could have done so egregious to warrant her cousin, starting back to when they were kids, doing anything and everything she could to keep Roman for herself. Her commitment to ensuring Heaven never learned of and realized that her now husband has wanted and loved her far longer than she ever realized.Â
How Camryn played such a critical, pivotal role in keeping Heaven from the man she now knows, without a shadow of a doubt, is her soulmate. The man she was always supposed to be with.Â
That sort of realization, however, is what started to attenuate her anger. Allowed the hurt to bleed in, and God does that shit hurt.
But Heaven never ever wanted or wants her pain to influence the young man before her.Â
She reaches to touch his arm. âNathââ
âShe knew what he was gonna do, and even if she didnât, all that other shit she did?â Anger flashes in his eyes, his arm tense under her palm. âNawâŚ.sheâs dead to me.âÂ
Heaven closes her eyes. âBââ
âI didnât lose anything.â Heâs the one interrupting now, prompting Heaven to take a deep breath and will her eyes back open to see Nathan looking down at her. âI never had anything to lose regarding her in the first place.âÂ
Words that break her heart, because as dispassionate as Nathan can be, often taking after his father when it comes to heavier emotions, there will always be that little boy inside of him that grieves never having that relationship with Camryn she knows he wanted for so long. Even if he wonât admit or acknowledge it, Heaven knows it to be true.Â
He continues, in true Nathan fashion, curbing the heaviness with lighthearted humor. âIâve got my dad. I got Macy. Future lilâ Bonnie and Clydeââ
Itâs minimally effective, provoking a small, budding grin. âNathââ
âAnd I got my mom,â he continues, voice and eyes softening, the corner of his lips also tugged upwards. âIâve always had her.âÂ
At that, Heaven has nothing to say, nothing to follow up with in terms of stressing and emphasizing true support of whatever he wants. Whatever relationship he desires with his mother, she is 100% behind. She just wants him to be happy and true to his wants and needs. Itâs only in that moment, however, that she realizes those needs donât come from the woman who brought him into this world.
Perhaps they never did.
They came from her.
They always came from her.Â
Emotion stirs as she steps forward, reaching and pulling his down into a hug that he effortlessly and gleefully accepts. Her eyes shut, clamping and concealing the tears. Heaven kisses the side of his head. âI love you, Nathan.âÂ
His arms enclosed around her, reciprocating her verbal and non-verbal acts of affection and love, are wholeheartedly solidified when he gives life to whatâs always existed just below the surface. âI love you, too.â A beat. âMama.âÂ
âMommy.â
âYeah, baby?â
Heaven closes the book, placing it on the nightstand and turning around just in time to see that instead of sitting on the edge of the bed or climbing off, Macy is still tucked in, hands holding up her blanket. Cookie under the pink and purple princess bedding beside her and Candy lounged at the floor of the bed, on her stomach, eyes shut but ears perked. Always alert until she knows for certain that her charge is sound asleep. Â
âI thinkâŚ.â She trails off as Heaven comes to sit on the bed beside her. Macy then meets her motherâs worried gaze. âI think I wanna sleep in my room tonight.â She then quickly adds, almost nervously. âMe, Cookie, and Candy.âÂ
Heaven grows quiet as she observes her seven year-old daughter, partially waiting for her to change her mind. To claim it as a joke of sorts, though she fails to see the humor. Just like she fails to see any indication that Macy doesnât mean exactly what she just said.
âBabies are down.â Heaven turns to see Roman walking into the room, rubbing his hands together as if knocking away invisible, lingering residue. His hair down, but the lasting effects of the hair tie evident in the way his dark tresses are naturally smoothed back like heâd laid it down with a silk scarf. His dark blue shirt fits snug around his big arms and clings to his chest while the flannel pajama pants have a looser fit and flare down at the bottom, brushing against his Ugg slippers. His nighttime look completed by the dark rimmed glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose.Â
Perfect timing. Â
Heaven shakes her head, working to find the words that feel almost strange, almost wrong once they leave her mouth. âMacyâŚâ She waits until he walks over, sitting on the other side of the bed, reaching over to caress Macyâs temple. âMacy wants to sleep in her room tonight.â Roman lifts his gaze from his daughter to his wife. âAlone.â
His eyes immediately return to Macy, expression shifting from that of adoration to concern.Â
âMacyâŚ.â
She squints and wipes at her eyes with the back of her hand. âJey went away to where the bad people go, right?âÂ
Heaven rolls her tongue across the back of her bottom row teeth, a simple but effective technique to avoid the toll such a brief, unexpected conversation is having on her. Primarily Macyâs most recent question. Not just her wanting an additional layer of reassurance, but the use of his name.
Macy hasnât uttered it since before the fire.Â
âYes, baby,â she finally answers. âHeâs going away for a very very long time.â
Forever, essentially. The fact of the matter is that Jey will never see the light of day again. The day of sentencing, in the courtroom full of individuals who were either on one side or the other, most in support of Heaven and Co, was the last and closest experience heâll ever have pertaining to âfreedom.â
Jey will die in prison, and thatâs just a fact.
But sheâs not done. Macy flips her gaze back to Roman, her little lips pressed together, voice softening again. âSo he canât hurt me or mommy again, right?â
And once more, Heaven closes her eyes, unable to hold back the burning sensation of tears sheâd give anything to keep at bay.
âNo, he canât.â Roman answers with swiftness and sincerity, his gaze focused on her as he cups her face. âAnd I wonât let anything or anyone ever hurt you or mommy ever again, I promise.â
Words that Heaven takes to heart and pockets for another day, time, and setting. Him accompanying her on several therapy sessions, her own, Macyâs, and even collab sessions between all three, has revealed that Roman still holds a moderateâprobably moreâamount of guilt regarding what happened. He blames himself, and Heaven hates that.
Hates it with everything in her, but she also somewhat expected it. In many ways, Roman is a traditional man. Believes his job as a man is to be a protector, and despite Heaven not being his legal partner at the time, and his identity as Macyâs biological father still an unspoken truth, he believed his duty was to protect them. And in his mind, he didnât. Thatâs just how he views it. No matter how many times Heaven has attempted to convince him otherwise.
Similar to how sheâs attempted to talk him into getting his own therapist, something heâs consistently put off. Cited wanting to focus on Macy, her, and the trial before exploring that. Partially true. Mostly avoidance behavior.Â
Classic Roman.Â
But itâs something Heaven is determined to not give up on.Â
She wonât.
She canât.
âThen weâll be okay,â Macy supplies, offering a small smile as she looks down at the end of the bed. âRight, Candy?âÂ
Her four legged best friendâs response is a lift of her head and small bark, followed by her climbing up and laying down as she did on the floor, just now on the edge of the mattress. Right where Macy can see and reach her.
Where she needs her.
âMay May, are you sure?â Heaven asks once more, her daughter turning her head to look at her. âYou know you can sleep with mommy and daddy as long as you need to.â
âI know,â she answers in that mellifluous voice that Heaven craves when her baby girl isnât around. Macy being homeschooled until she was able to successful transition back to attending brick and mortar spoiled Heaven. Roman, too. âBut I donât need to anymore.â Her eyes flick between her parents, voice raising an octave, embedded with a hint of pride. âIâm not scared anymore.â
Heavenâs mouth drops ever so slightly, as does that weight in her chest that collapses to the bottom of her stomach. She briefly makes eye contact with Roman, who, despite his efforts to remain emotionally indiscernible, is incapable of completely containing his emotional response to such a simple but powerful statement.
One that means the fucking world to a set of parents whoâve only wanted and done everything within their power to support and help their daughter. To provide Macy with everything sheâs needed or could need over the past year and some change in healing from a trauma no child should have to face. Itâs been one of the hardest things Heaven has personally had to go through, had to witness. And yet, here she is. Their brave little girl.
Their Macy.
Hugs, kisses, and a final reiteration to come wake them up if she needs anything, anything at all, are what follow. Roman and Heaven lingering near the door, watching as she signs a final I Love You before cradling Cookie and turning over on her side. Candy lifts her head once more only to immediately lower back down on top of Macyâs short legs. Final, protective placement.Â
A nonverbal act of reassurance.
I got her.Â
The minute theyâre back in their bedroom, double doors closed, Heaven turns around and closes the distance between the two of them.Â
âHey,â she starts, smoothing her hands up Romanâs chest, gently ruffling his shirt. âRoman,â she continues, deepening her voice just enough so that he looks down at her instead of at the closed doors as if doing so will make Macyâs knock come sooner. Because she knows thatâs exactly what heâs expecting. âSheâsâŚsheâs okay.â
His jaw ticks, and she lifts her left hand to cup his face. âAnd if she isnâtâŚâ Another noticeable, visible flash of concern in his eyes that she attempts to quell. âThen she knows where to find us.âÂ
As they always have and always will make themselves readily available for their children.Â
No matter what.Â
His reluctance remains, however, prompting Heaven to opt for another angle. âCome on.â She leans up on her toes, pressing them into the soles of her slippers. Heaven kisses his cheek and drops her hand to grab his. âLetâs go shower.â
Persuasion starts to take its course as he flicks his eyes flick over her body. His right hand lowers and cushions her hip, soft material of her dress embedded in between his long, thick fingers. âWe already showered.âÂ
âNot together,â she corrects. Heaven tilts her head to the side, rubbing the pad of her thumb over his coarse, rough knuckles. âAnd are you really turning down an opportunity for us to be naked togetherââ
A knock on the door immediately yanks them from the moment, but while it tosses Roman back into fight or flight mode, Heaven was able to pick up on the nature and pattern of said knock. Hence the way she tightens her grip on Romanâs hand when he moves to walk towards the door.Â
âDonât let me interrupt yaâll from being nasty.â Nathanâs voice sounds from the other side. Heaven, having kept her eyes on her husband, noticing the way his strong shoulders drop, the definition of his side profile slightly minimized. Relaxation setting back in all around. âJust wanted to tell you Iâm heading out.âÂ
Roman frowns as Heaven moves her body against his, wrapping her arms around his waist. She wastes no time in mouthing, âdateâ when he looks down, his lips making a silent âohâ of acknowledgment. âAlright. Text us when you get there. Have fun. Be safe.â
âI will,â Nathan agrees. âLove yaâll.âÂ
âLove you, too.â
âLove you, too, baby.âÂ
Synonymous responses followed by the soft sound of footsteps from the other side that eventually fade into silence.Â
Roman looks down, returning his wifeâs embrace, hands on the small of her back. âIsnât it kind of late for him to be going out?â He lifts his wrist, verifying said time as Heaven bites back a smile. âAnd how the hell did he find time to squeeze in a date when heâs gotta be back in Caliââ
âHeâs 24, Roman,â she reminds, lips curved into a wry smile. âBesides, I think he really likes this one.â
At that, his brow props upward, hand smoothing over the curve of her ass. âYeah.â
Heaven nods. âSaid he might even invite her to the next game we attend so we can meet her.â
âDamn,â he curses. âItâs that serious?âÂ
She bites on the corner of her lip, quickly working on a reply that both satisfies without oversharing. âSomething like that.â If things continue to go well between Nathan and the girl heâs been seeing, consistently, for the past three or so months, Heaven knows that he would like to be the one to explain to Roman theâŚ.situation. Primarily the young womanâs occupation.Â
A stripper.
Err, midnight ballerina, as sheâs seen them called on social media.
At first, she was a little surprised. Skeptical. Fell right into that outdated hole of judgment and stereotypes, but then she remembered that this is Nathan. Like his father, heâs good at reading people. Not to mention, heâs far too astute to âallowâ himself to be finessed and manipulated. If he says this girl is good people, thatâs good enough for her. She trusts his judgment.
And so does Roman.
But his first instinct always has, and always will be, to look out for his son. That includes anyone who might be looking to use or take advantage of a young man whoâs making more money in one year than some might see in an entire lifeline. Not to mention the investments Roman made Nathan setup the minute he signed his first contract, on top of a college savings account thatâs remained untouched since its creation when Nathan was 10, as his entire four years of college were covered via his scholarships.
Add in his personal savings, no touch savings, and even the account Roman has set aside with money solely for Nathan, despite Nathan not knowing about said accountâŚ..heâs set.
Loaded as fuck.
Like father, like son.
Roman just wants to protect not only Nathan, but his assets and likeness.Â
Thus, she knows itâs best to let father and son handle that conversation when the time comes. Sheâll just be there to offer support and insight when necessary.Â
And something tells her, especially given how cautious Roman has become after everything over the past almost two years, that heâs going to be guarded.Â
She canât blame him, either.
Heaven yelps when he slides both hands under her ass cheeks and hikes her up onto his waist. Starts to ask him what the hell heâs doing when he starts walking them towards their connected master bathroom.Â
Almost an hour later, bodies cleansed and moisturized, courtesy of the effective, talented hands of one another, theyâre laid up together in bed. Roman between her spread legs, his fingers making light caresses up and down her glowing skin. Her own hands embedded in his hair, down and air dried in its naturally voluminous state. She works her fingers through his scalp, all the while watching how he keeps his eyes open but his hand to the left of him near the phone thatâs remained dark since they climbed into bed. The baby monitor situated on the nightstand on her side of the bed also another source of silence, as the only sound that fills their master bedroom is that which filters through the double doors that lead to the forever busy, boisterous city that is Miami.Â
At one point, amongst many other discussions occurring in the wake of the fire that all but obliterated the home Heaven once shared with her ex-husband and Macy, there were talks of moving. Leaving the city. Transitioning elsewhere. Tampa, near the top of the list. Heaven and Macy staying/living with him in the house he once shared with Camryn just wasnât an option. As many memories it held, some good, some bad, some somewhere in between, both Heaven and Roman agreed that there was more discomfort with making it their permanent residence than benefits. Even more, he wanted to find a place for them that carried no memories but the ones that would be made in this new chapter of his life.Â
A new start required fresh soil and a solid foundation to be built upon, and if not for the time it would take to build and include what exactly heâd prefer their home to have, thatâs exactly what they would have done. But it all worked out, as heâd hired the same realtor who helped him find the house thatâs now sold and the one they live in now thatâs, somehow, even larger and grander than the last.
Not that any of that even mattered to Heaven. She just wanted a home, and any place that had him, Macy, the twins, and even Nathan, was home.
Granted, she will never deny the peace that comes with being in a place thatâs not borrowed or stolen. Itâs hers.
Itâs theirs.
âAre you working Bad Blood this year?âÂ
Her question is a gentle stir to the silence. She watches and feels the subtle rise and fall of his big body against hers, leaning down to kiss his forehead.
âNot sure yet.âÂ
At that, she rolls her eyes, tilting her head to the side, uncaring of the way he keeps his lids shut. âYou know you want to.â The small smile playing on his full lips as he takes another close mouthed breath confirms as such. Heaven mimics his actions, also sighing, lips pressed into his temple. âDo it, babe,â she murmurs. âYou know weâll be there to cheer you on, Mr. World Heavyweight Champion.âÂ
When Roman told Heaven that he was taking an indefinite leave from WWE, it came at no surprise whatsoever. With everything that occurredâMacy, Jey, the pregnancyâit only made sense that he too took a step back. Like herself, his priority was supporting Macy and navigating the legal fallout of everything that occurred. But as the months passed and they neared almost a year since Roman stepped away, Heaven started to drop subtle hints regarding his tentative return timeline. Not to rush him, far from it, but rather to let him know that it was okay. That they were okay, because she knows her husband better than anyone on this earth.
Knows that he would never return. That he would just leave his elimination at the 2025 Rumble as his final in-ring appearance. That if it was between work and family, he would always choose family. That, for Roman, there was no choice to make.
It was just family.
Period.
But while healing and recovering often require finding a new norm amongst the wreckage of the storm, if something can be salvaged, like the items not completely destroyed and damaged by the fire that almost took their daughterâs life, they should be retained. Heaven knows how much Romanâs career means to him. All the work he put in to get to where he is. All the sacrifices. It felt wrong to not encourage him to reclaim something she knew brought him joy.
Even more, juxtaposed to the year prior thatâd been so focused on Jey, so catered towards launching his star, there was almost a petty part of her that wanted to see Roman take back everything heâd selflessly helped his cousin obtain.Â
â2025 was his year,â she said, sitting on Romanâs lap, hands on his cheeks, the sound of their kids playing in the background a soft buffer. âYou make 2026 your year.âÂ
And he did just that.
Heaven can still recall the way she jumped the moment the opening of his I Am Greatness theme played throughout Michigan Stadium. The way her eyes instantly shifted to Macy whoâd insisted on keeping her hearing aids in, to the way her twin babies smiled and wiggled, even with their own headphones on. As if the powerful, magnetic sound of the beating drums demanded their attention and focus even without being directly heard.Â
Heaven has attended plenty of Romanâs shows over the years, but his surprise, unannounced return at the 2026 Royal Rumble remains the loudest pop sheâs ever heard. The only thing to outdo it was the thunderous applause and roar of celebration that flowed throughout the stadium when he tossed Gunther out that ring.Â
When he won.
Tears filled her eyes watching the way he dropped to his knees, panting, sweating, holding onto the rope, head down. The gold writing etched on his gloves and in his custom Nikes. The names of their children. Of her. The way Macy clapped and cheered happily in Nathanâs arms as he too expressed congratulations. Kanoa and Kalia, six months old and oblivious to the specifics of what occurred, also beaming with joy, feeding off the jubilation that surrounded them.Â
Heaven had never felt so relieved that she pushed Roman on the subject of bringing them. She knew he could do it, knew he would do it, and she wanted to ensure he knew they were all there to support and cheer him on.
No one knows just how deeply his win, and subsequent backlash, back in 2015 affected him. Heaven has a pretty damn good idea. Better than most. But even she is not exempt from being shut down and having the conversation diverted at any attempt to get him to open up. It hurt him. Deeply. A hurt that, in her opinion, was largely chipped away by such a win and recapture of glory eleven years later.
Most of that healing and rewriting of history, however, came not from applause vs booâs. It came from the presence of his family, of the kids, of herself, all of whom had a front row seat to one of the best sights sheâd witnessed all year. Smiles stretched and spread when he climbed out of the ring and met them ringside. Nathan hyping and dapping him up. Macy wrapping her arms around his neck, wiggling and moving in unwavering excitement. Similar to that of Kanoa and Kalia, though far too young to understand what just occurred, offering babbles lost under the sound of his theme blasting throughout the stadium. And when he finally reached her, shifted his eyes from their youngest to her, bent over to hug and hold her as she stroked the back of his neck, it was all but confirmed.Â
Without a doubt confirmed when two months later, a similar outcome, response, and reaction as he won the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania. If Heaven thought the pop for his rumble win was something, the one at mania nearly left her ears ringing for almost two days straight.
But it was all so so worth it. Everything about that night was magical and special. From his moving, almost sentimental entranceâslideshow of those who came before him and who he works to this day to honor and respectâthe names of the kids and herself, again, etched and sown into his gear, and especially in the emotional celebration that, once more, occurred ringside.Â
ThatâŚ..that meant more to him than any win.Â
His family.Â
âIâll think about.â Romanâs answer tugs Heaven away from the recalling of pleasant, enjoyable memories. Ones that have felt like they increase in frequency and duration as time passes. As to be expected. Time doesnât heal all, but it does ease the aches just a bit. And healing occurring alongside the pillars of support and love will always provide the necessary space for it to flourish and flow.Â
Heavenâs eyes bounce to where Roman has his phone lifted, his thumb moving to unlock and navigate to the most recently used app. Seconds later, footage thatâs essentially the exact same as the last time he checked shortly before they stepped into the shower together.Â
Cribs stationed on either side of the nursery, names spelled out on the wall above said cribs, in the stereotypical pink and blue. Similar to the bedding and overall theme of a room Heaven spent far more time decorating than what was necessary, but itâd become an outlet. Something she could throw herself into. That she could control. A gracious, necessary space of mercy and release. One that still carries with it the peaceful and comforting atmosphere that, though she canât prove it, aids in the way her twins so easily go down for bed.Â
Evident in the way they both are turned on their stomachs, lips slightly parted, little bodies rising up and down in slow, steady motions.Â
âItâs amazing how they sleep through the night,â she murmurs.Â
Roman chuckles. âThatâs cause they use up all their energy during the day.â
She smiles and nestles her head against his temple. âI donât know where they get all that from, either.âÂ
âYou and me both,â he agrees. âAll I know is weâre signing them up for as many sports as we can the minute theyâre old enough.â
âRoman.â
Not that she necessarily disagrees as it was the same thought that she had earlier in the day, thereâs an element of exaggeration that fuels his motive. Kanoa and Kalia, while far from unafraid to express discontent and dissatisfaction in the way of babbles, screams, whines, and the tossing of whatever is in the closest vicinity, really are good babies. Heaven has noticed that they just tend to become more temperamental in the usual situations that would aggravate most young children. Hunger. Sleepiness. Overstimulated.Â
Not that much different from the man complaining about them.Â
âWhat?â He angles his head to look at her. âHeav, they gotta get that shit out somehow. Iâm not about to be 50 something chasing them around this house.â
She rolls her eyes. He can be dramatic as hell sometimes. âYou sound like Jimmy.â
âAbout once a year, he says something actually accurate.â
Heaven flicks his shoulder and continues to massage his scalp. She also watches how he switches over to the other camera that, again, greets them the same it did the last time he checked.
Macy, in bed, Cookie cradled in her arms and Candy at the edge of the bed.Â
Sleeping.Â
A calming, assuring image that only goes so far. Hence the way she reaches for his phone, Roman only casting her a brief glance before he hands it to her. He remains quiet as she clicks around and navigates to Apple Musicâone day sheâll get him to switch to Spotifyâquickly searching and playing the desired tune.
As the silence that filled the room is imbued with a familiar, well known tune for her, Heaven places the phone back beside her husband who looks over at her with a scowl that reminds her of the twins when theyâre cranky. All of her kids, it seems, took after their daddy when it comes to that damn scowl.Â
âIsnât this the song that plays when someone dies on that hospital show you like?â
âRoman.â As much as he likes to talk about Jimmy, he isnât that far off with some of the shit he says. They both have no filter. Just in different ways. âItâs Greys Anatomy. If you would stop falling asleep every time I try to watch it with youââ
âIâm not watching that shit, Heaven. I told you that.â
The way he shuts her down almost immediately isnât the least bit surprising. For all of the many, many things the man sheâs holding has done, will do, and will always do for her, the one thing sheâs never been able to talk him into is watching one of her favorite shows with her. Any of her favorite shows, really. Theyâll watch movies together, but even thatâs far and few in between outside of the animated, family friendly programs and films the kids like to watch. Beyond that, itâs a no-go. Ever since they were teenagers, Roman has always found Heavenâs taste in shows too âfemale focusedâ for him. To this day, sheâs still not sure what exactly that means.Â
She snorts. âYeah, cause youâd rather watch that violence.â
âDamn straight.âÂ
Heaven flicks his shoulder. If itâs got gore, action, or a weird combination of both, heâs there. For her, there are a million and one things sheâd rather do than subject herself to that macabre shit.
As the music continues to play in the background, reaching one of her favorite parts, she refocuses the conversation. âAnd yeah, it is synonymous with character deaths, butâŚ.â Once more, she leans over and kisses his temple, murmuring a soft, âjustâŚ.listen.âÂ
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Words that manifest and penetrate, Heaven watching how he closes his eyes once more, the most subtle tick of his jaw and falter of his lips telltales of her spontaneous idea and spur of the moment plan proving to be effective.
In more ways than expected.Â
Heaven smooths her hands down his chest and then over his shoulders, giving a gentle squeeze. For most, itâd be a gesture that requires clarification, but not Roman.Â
He knows what she needs, even without her even saying a word.Â
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
In a matter of seconds, heâs no longer in between her legs and her body is no longer propped up by the set of pillows set against their headboard. Sheâs instead curled against him, arm over his stomach, her cheek pressed into his chest. He pulls her closer, as if their bodies arenât already molded together. As if they arenât already one in every way that counts.
âSomething did die, Roman,â she whispers. âThatâŚ.that died.â That unnamed but known entity she refuses to give life to by naming and addressing. Theyâve lived it. Survived it. âAnd thisâŚ.this is where we breathe. Where we live.â
Because life is made up of more than just fleeting moments of joy and happiness. Itâs frustration mixed with disappointment and tainted with occasional loss. Trauma and grief that co-exist, go hand in hand, but almost always follow up with the clearing of the sky and disappearing of the clouds.Â
Heaven was once told that it canât rain forever. She didnât understand it then.Â
She understands it now.Â
âWeâre here. We made it here. Thatâs what matters.â After everything that was thrown and meant to work against them, to keep one half from the other half, and despite every single odd that could exist, they made it. They made it. âSomewhere beyond right and wrong,â A beat. âThatâs where we found each other.âÂ
a/n: and there we have it, folks. the long ass , too long awaited conclusion.
this is not the ending i wanted to go with. my initial thought/idea when starting to flesh out the story following the massive, positive response to rls was one much different than this. in my initial plot, macy ends up passing away, and jey is "mysteriously" found murdered.
thus, the storyline following roman and heaven trying to navigate life post macy's murder, heaven's pregnancy, as well as a bit of a "mystery" aspect where i would play around with "who killed jey" and a focus on roman and nathan as the potential suspects.
specifically, i wanted to explore the dichotomy of grief and love. exploration of how two people navigate a new norm that's juxtaposed to a past they can't seem to let go and heal from. heaven struggling to find joy in her pregnancy, and roman struggling with the guilt of it all. together, their shared regret at their actions that, to them, resulted in the loss of their daughter. the story concluding with roman and heaven meeting the little girl who received macy's heart, as they chose to donate her organs.
"we couldn't save our baby, but we had the opportunity to save someone else's. and that's what we did. an act of love. because that's what macy was to and for us. the representation and embodiment of love."
that's what the heaven sent short would have shown. but i had to be honest with myself and realize that i really do not have the time to adequately and properly write out such a layered storyline the way i'd want to. not with all the other 5011 wip's i got going on. thus, this alternative ending.
anyhoo, much appreciation and thanks to everyone who read this hot mess express of a mini series. forever grateful and thankful for you kind souls. i feel as though this ending could have been better, but you've all waited long enough for a conclusion. i just hope this one was satisfactory.
