she wasn’t a queen. she was a pharaoh and wanted to be referred to as such. she even had her statues modeled after the male pharaoh’s statues to state her dominance and authority. she was actually one of the most successful pharaohs in all of ancient egyptian history and she reigned longer than any other woman in power in egypt.

She also had herself referred to using male pronouns quite often and flat-out had almost all depictions of her shown as a man. So I just feel it’s important that we all keep in mind that she very well could have been a trans man or genderfluid.

Am I the only one who was kinda uncomfortable with the trans-racial storyline on this week’s Atlanta? don’t get me wrong, still like the show, just trying to process the episode. I mean, I understand it was a commentary on privilege and close mindedness but I think what bothered me is in the end it kinda conflates the idea of race and gender identity. I dunno, it felt to me like they were comparing this black dude thinking he’s white to being similar to a trans person, therefore inherently “weird” or “nonsensical”? Or maybe that’s not what they were trying to do but I worried it could be interpreted that way? The bit redeemed itself when it was revealed the guy was a bigot and therefore a complete hypocrite because he wanted people to accept him as a white man but wasn’t ok with LGBT folks but I dunno. Part of me still isn’t sure how I feel about it. Thoughts?

we don’t talk enough about the importance of discipline as Christians. i think we are taught that there is a list of dos and don’ts, that amount to expectations of behavior without an explanation for “why?” I think we miss the opportunity to get closer to God through our obedience because we aren’t taught that sacrifice furthers our relationship with God.
