James Ortiz (my absolute goat & the voice and main puppeteer for Rocky) played a discreet secondary role in the movie, that being the news anchor on Grace's phone talking about the Petrova Line. Pulled directly from the script, his lines are, "We are just minutes away from the flyby through the Petrova line near Venus. So, what can you tell us about the ArcLight probe? What do we expect to find?" That last sentence ESPECIALLY sounds like Rocky too <3

YESSSSSS I LOVE THIS

I really really love the image of Simon silently drapping himself over Grace's back while he's working. Resting his head on the scientist's shoulder and either silently watching or asking questions here and there, prompting Grace to start yapping bc Simon likes listening. And Grace LOVES it bc he gets to be reminded that he's in another human's company while also siphoning warmth and getting work done <3 win win!

Or like Simon when Grace finds him on the moon or something

Oooooooo I always see eel mutant Simon and I LOVE those portrayals (the mermaid fanatic of my youth is fucking stoked about it) but I want more people to do fucked up tree shit too

I have NO idea how it would work w the parents, considering we (basically) never get any amount of backstory for either Simon (aside from the SINGLE 3 seconds shot of Simon's mom) nor Grace, but that also kinda means we can Do Whatever We Want

I am 100% inclined to stick Grace in Sosuke's place and Simon in Ponyo's, bc. Fih. Also :33 we can do coltland twins :3 if we wanted :3 Make colt an unwilling third party that doesn't like this fish boy but has to make sure his twin doesn't get EATEN.

anyway, adding to that:

The mutations from the radiation and the blood ocean fucked Simon's like nervesystem or whatever up a little, so now whenever he's cuddling Grace and the guy starts to snore, the vibrations feel relaxing to him (kinda like how cat purring while cuddling you can feel relaxing)

Grace finds out that the snores REALLY loudly in his sleep and is immediately worried if it annoys Simon and Rocky but they're just like:

"No, Rocky find Grace sleep sound adorable, statement!"

"It helps me sleep better and the noise doesn't bother me at all."
