@chaospandathoughts I cannot respond in the comments with images, but I can totally back myself up here with the transcript. It all boils down to tone, honestly. If you haven't see the movie, the Eden brother was practically raging at Simon throughout their entire 'interaction'.
^ Eden Brother speaking towards Simon with hatred. The cultists were demonizing him enough for this random guy to just blow the hell up at him at some point in the past.
Eden doesn't believe Simon to have any sort of internal conscious (since this guy is the only thing we have to represent what Eden thinks of Simon, and seeing that Markiplier doesn't write things for no reason being the straightforward dude he is, I can only assume these are blanket statements for Eden).
^ Eden Brother said it himself, Simon has killed more than any other cultist during his time "out there." Also, death cult member calling Simon a killer in a negative connotation? Odd. Simon was a monster even to their standards.
I'll also back up my claims here regarding the cult trying to get rid of him during Filament Station's attack:
^ I don't think he's talking about just the COI here. He's talking about everyone, but that is also my personal interpretation bleeding through here.
^ Why the hell would Eden abandon their Brother and allow him to be captured, meanwhile everyone else made their escape (or possibly kamikaze-d)? Also the way Simon says "I traded one fancy metal box to die in for another", like he had a gut feeling he was going to die at Filament Station, anyway.
"[...] but the ones who did aren't getting punished" <- Sounds like a fucking set-up to me, dawg. IDK what to tell you.
Simon did NOT get a choice on whether or not he was going to Filament Station, his "crew" rigged the station core to explode, and then they freakin' booked it out of there and left him. Now this could very well me reading into things, but this super sounds like they were trying to get rid of him, blow him up, or at the very least feed him to the C.O.I.
They simply did not go back for him. That's evidence enough, in my book.
