We regret to say that we won't be able to make a second issue of Trektastic Zine this year.

This is due to a few reasons:

Unfortunately, we haven't received enough submissions to put a zine together. We (the zine runners) considered filling the gap with our own work, but this would go against the ethos of our zine being contributor focussed and highlighting creators' work equally, and would be more work than we feel we could handle.

Myself and my fellow zine runner have had changes in circumstances in our lives, and are both experiencing some difficulties right now. We no longer feel we are able to manage making this zine.

The quality of the zine is really important to us, and we wouldn't want to create something that wasn't the best we could do.

We want to thank everyone who submitted their work for the second issue. Your work is amazing, and we regret not being able to publish it. Please continue to create! 🌟

There's still a possibility of a second issue in the future, all we can say is that it won't be in the near future.

Thank you all for your understanding, and we sincerely apologise for the disappointment.

Hi, sorry for the bad timing. We've been planning to make a proper announcement post, but I didn't want to leave you hanging.

No worries either way, just want a bit more guidance as I try to develop ideas!

Hello everyone, since we've gotten quite a few questions about a submission deadline, we thought we'd clear this up!

There is no deadline for submissions as of yet. Right now, our priority is receiving enough submissions to make publishing a second issue possible. When reaching this goal is looking likely, then we'll set a deadline.

However, we need a lot more submissions than we currently have!

So please, if you're an artist or writer who's been considering submitting something but wasn't sure about a deadline, get involved! And if you know a writer or artist who might be interested in being a part of this zine, let them know about us and that our submissions are open! Reblogging this post would be a massive help!

The theme of issue 2 will be:

Interspecies Interactions

daily life in a diverse galaxy

What does the theme entail?

This theme is about exploring the interactions and dynamics, the cultural exchange between the many different species of sentient life that come in contact with The Enterprise. Whether that involves federation planets, first contact encounters, or between crewmates, let your creativity shine!

Do I have to have skill or experience to contribute?

No! We want to make an amateur inclusive zine that any Trekkie can get involved in! This was the case with our first issue and will stay that way!

Trek shows:

This is a TOS focused zine and we would prefer TOS content. If you want to use characters from other Trek shows that's fine, but the story or art should be focussed around the TOS bridge crew or other TOS characters.

Content type:

Absolutely anything that can be put on paper and printed! Stories or fics, poetry, artwork, comics, collages, photomanips, even an essay if you want!

Any writing should not exceed 10,000 words, with 3000-5000 words being more ideal.

Ai art or writing is not allowed under any circumstances.

Explicit content:

Explicit content is allowed in writing (eg. sex, gore, violence) but if you know your writing could be triggering please put relevant content warnings at the start of your writing. Explicit content is not allowed in artwork or images.

Ships:

Any ships you want! Or no ships at all!

*a ship will be declined only in the unlikely chance one of the mods deems it unethical

Work exclusivity:

We would prefer original works to showcase in our zine that have not previously been posted elsewhere. Contributors will be able to post their works elsewhere once the zines have been published and shipped.

Our fundraiser for Palestine is now closed! Thanks to everyone who supported the project, we can now happily say that we have donated the amount we raised to Medical Aid for Palestinians, as promised!

Together we raised £122!

($154 USD, €143 EURO)

There is only 1 week left to order our fundraiser items or contribute to our fundraiser by purchasing a physical copy of PDF copy of our zine! The fundraiser for Palestine will close 30th March 2024, 23:00 GMT.

All proceeds will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), who provide urgent medical care to Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and in refugee camps!

Our new fundraising initiative:

In order to boost the success of our fundraiser, all profits made on sales of remaining physical copies of our zine and PDF copies within our Palestine fundraiser window will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians!

Physical copies will also come with free stickers (all 4 designs) !
