“Geez, Mia...” 

Luke watched as his daughter demolished the tiny birthday cake they had bought for her. She sat in her high chair with a bib on, but the tiny cloth was no match for Mia’s destruction of the confection. Icing was smeared everywhere Mia could put it, and it caked up in her hair in the messiest possible manner. 

“She really is my daughter, huh?” 

Another year, another spinach cake. At least this time Luke managed to get the recipe right. And hey, the decoration job wasn’t too bad either, thanks to some help from Sofia. Mia was definitely the one in charge of putting the strawberries on top, though. 

“I think I grabbed the right box. We had another shipment mix up, and I gotta get rid of these. Hopefully nothing is wrong with them... hopefully...”

As soon as he saw the request posted, Luke made his way over to where he knew he’d find Ford: the clinic. He entered the building, a seemingly ever-present grin on his face as he followed the nurse’s direction to the doctor’s office. When he reached it, Luke knocked against the doorway of the already open door. 

Proving Himself

Max was going to prove that he was capable of actually owning the family manor. Rosalind was his baby sister and he loved her dearly but… he was supposed to be set for life! He had been attending meetings with his father since he was a young boy, but apparently he had to prove he was able to support himself. Without even a penny to his name! And get a… a job! Not to mention the apartment he was able to afford had all sorts of unmentionable creatures within the walls. He wasn’t even able to bring a maid with him, and had gone through every unstained outfit he owned. Who knew working as a jeweler would end up being such messy work? Not to mention the adventurers guild. He had thought he would be able to persuade someone to let him take the credit for all the discoveries but… that was a lot harder to do when he had no money and was also… the only employee. It was as he reflected on his woes, his well-made but ill maintained clothes in a state of disarray that someone would come across him.

Now, Luke knew about everyone in Sofia’s family (and their individual eccentric personalities), whether it be from Sofia showing him photos or telling him stories about them, or even meeting them in person. Either way, Luke knew the De Sainte Coquille family rather well, if only through reputation for some. So, he recognized Max as soon as he saw him.
