i am not sure i agree with the class society of equestria presented on episode 3 of my little pony friendship is magic. applejack is seemingly indifferent to the destitution of the peasantry she represents, such that selling apples at a gala of the gentry is her only means to fund her grandma's hip replacement, yet she can barely afford tools to till the land, tacitly consenting to her diminished position.
rarity, despite her higher social standing and willingness to marry into nobility, has nothing to say of her artisan labour contributing to the gala and never being formally invited, which similarly displays a degree of obsequiousness to the status quo.
rainbow dash ostensibly wants to attend to show off her flying prowess, but this would ultimately serve to impress the order she wishes to be inducted to—the wonderbolts, who, by her own admission, she already surpasses in skill, evidencing an infatuation with the knightly esteem afforded to them by the gentry; fluttershy is fluttershy.
obviously it doesn't matter who you give the ticket to because none of these ponies are willing to challenge the contradictions that give rise to this invitation having the power to singularly effect such change in their lives. given this, it makes sense to establish whose desire is the most selfish and give the ticket to them: pinkie's wish to participate in the gala to "play games and party" with no concern for the long term benefits claimed by the others is the most in line with an egoist ethos
