we’re on me3 and we Just got to the quarian-geth bit and i’m thinking so hard about tali repeatedly insisting her being an admiral is just a formality while also talking about how the fleet needs a united front and being a leader and taking the position because it’s what shepard would do. the implicit credit of her achievements given to shepard and to her father. the fact that it fees like something she’s been told by Other People to diminish her role despite the fact They requested her because She knows more about the geth. not to continue thinking about garrus vakarian but i’ve also been thinking about parallels between him and liara because i do kind of think that if given the option he also would’ve done the selling you to a terrorist organization so that they’ll bring you back from the dead thing. and there’s this thing they both do that i keep thinking about where they are always moving moving moving, they always have to be doing something because if they aren’t then they’ll have to feel it and they Can’t feel whatever It is (and they can’t think about shepard getting spaced, and *garrus* can’t think about how he doesn’t even know who *killed her*, and) and so they have to keep moving, they have to put that energy somewhere Productive because there’s so much to Get Done, and the entire fucking time they are doing this they are orbiting the thing they are avoiding. it’s always about the grief it’s always About what they’ve lost and what they’re scared to lose and they’ve grown older and more mature but their sun is still her and at the core of them is still the person they were when they first met her. and anyway. i think ultimately they do both care about them very deeply, i think archangel’s squad and feron and the shadowbroker vengeance quest and sidonis are all genuinely things that are important to them, but i also think that vengeance for feron and vengeance on sidonis both feel like they’re ultimately vengeance for shepard. you know. not literally of course but by proxy. what if instead of spending years in the dark you know who did it and instead of it being this eldritch fucking force beyond your control it’s just a man and you can put a bullet in his head and it’ll all be over. what if you could save her before it happens this time. what if both these things could help you be useful to her. at least you wanna think they can

i didn’t think abt garrus much when i first played the trilogy but now that i’m replaying it with aki and also they like him a lot its like im making up for lost time. what is WRONG with him. i mean i know what is wrong with him but what is wrong with him
