We asked our audience at the Goodtimes Studio for feedback on specific questions and this is what people felt and thought.

Question 1. Put one word to your experience of VOICE on the day.

Jon: Q1. Lush Q2. The work was intelligently primal but still culturally contemporary. Q3. I really like the theatre of the blind fold.anticipation and surrender. It added to your capacity to concentrate on and absorb the work without distraction. If I thought it was a little short, it must be the right length.

Nick: Q1. Considered. Q2. Having sight removed prior to seating better enabled the audience to focus their attention on the sound. Q3. The removal of participants sight and the process of disorientation (through corridors, etc) risked dominating the sound piece itself, though the balance was struck quite well. There was definitely opportunity to use the space more informally/socially following the conclusion of the sound piece. Having established that the piece begins prior to entering the gallery space itself, the mood at conclusion was one of the whole exhibit continuing, participants largely left in a more formal, less social way. I didn't mind either way but the intention needed to be more explicit either way.

Bosco: Q1. Immersive. Q2. Blind-folded, my sense of hearing reached out further that normal, the pinpoint accuracy of the spatial dimension achieved a stunning corporeality that was breathtaking to behold. Q3. One of the best sound pieces i've ever experienced. would hear again.

Hello! We are presenting the Australian premiere of their audio composition Voice. Which is now nearly sold out. 

Coming off an international launch in Glasglow and soon to be featured on ABC radio national,Voice is presenting a one day strictly limited showing in Melbourne at Goodtimes Studio. 

We will post the time for you to tune into ABC radio national to hear the piece this Sunday the 17th.

In December 2012 Transmit Receive made a proposal for Soundscaping, a group sound art show in Glasglow. Having been accepted to contribute they set off to record nine voice artists, edit them and audio process them into an eight channel work all within fourteen days. 

That project became Voice and was launched on the 26.01.13 in Glasglow.

Sound art duo Transmit Receive presents the Australian premiere of their audio composition Voice. 

Voice is a lush 30 minute poly-vocal narrative composed only from the human voice. Presented in a ticketed cinematic listening experience via a professional 8-channel surround sound system. The journey of Voice explores harmony, tension, conflict and resolution. How would you respond to finding a crash in the middle of no where without words? What would you choose to do?

TRANSMIT RECEIVE - NORTHLAND

We have been excepted into this Festival in Glasglow! Yippie! Now Adam and I are busily working in his newly created studio out in Preston. We shall be taking people on a journey through their own inner narrative and allowing the space for them to spill the feelings out with voice. 

The new project is simply called Voice.

Our first recording mission to NORTHLAND Shopping Centre. 12/05/2011, 23:00.

Our process is responding to interconnection.

As the sun transmits light, a cameras sensors receives light and transforms the light into an image. We too in our process receive and transmit with each other, spaces, live sounds, recordings and in editing suite. 

Originally we, sound designer Adam Hunt(AH) and saxophonist Max Milne(MM), travelled to Northlands to record MM responding to the man made landscape with AH recording and reacting to the space with all its man made mass. Cement that cuddles you on top and all around.  

That evolved to include two saxophonists, MM and Claudio Tocco, and two sound recordists, AH and Ryan Granger, interplaying with their instruments, microphones and mass cement of Northlands.  That made way to a open expanse of green roving hills and Darebin creek running parallel to the building.

We brought people to react to each other. To find an interest in a space that can remain un-noticed. Lifting the dripping dregs of Northalands shopping centre to ooze and slip down a silken audio spatialisation pedestal.  All through trasmiting and receiving.
