I painted this Great Egret for my grandfather as a Christmas present this year. When I visited him in Florida, he introduced me to Cindy, a crane who had broken its beak, lost its ability to fish and was assumingely kept alive by my grandfather who would feed her in the morning and sundown at his doorstep. She was partial to hotdogs.
