Time is Messy

Lena had been in the past, err, present, a week now. Adjusting was easier than sheâd thought itâd be, the familiarity of the place and the people made it easy to settle back into old patterns.
Or at least it should have been, but heaven forbid anything was ever easy. She couldnât blame them for finding her strange. Lena had shown up out of nowhere in what could best be described as a temporal explosion. There was another her, young and spunky and in her own time, running around as well. This Lena, meanwhile, looked four years older than she should, and like hell itself had chewed her up and spit her out.
Everyone walked on eggshells around her, and it was getting annoying. She couldnât sleep without having nightmares, and every time she saw someone it took her a second to remember they werenât a death she had to mourn anymore. Sure, she seemed cracked alright. Broken, even.Â
The ones that didnât treat her like porcelain just plain avoided her. Like she hadnât come back for their sake. Even now as he came to sit with her in the window she occupied, it was hard to see Jesse Mcree as the living, breathing man he was and not the bloody, broken corpse sheâd buried.
âJust admit it.â Lena muttered, looking out the window instead of at him. âI give you the creeps.â
