desert duo royalty au but Grian is a low level recordkeeping clerk for the royal court and Scar is crown prince. Grian keeps getting intense visions of the same Bad Thing happening at the upcoming crowning ceremony, but he CANNOT let anyone know about these visions so que a longg grind up the court job ladder and worming his way into Scar's life slowy but surely to finally be at a position where he can attend the ceremony and be able to change the outcome. Also this entire time the Bad Thing is Scar himself. And he knows Grian knows!! Also did you know one of them will die trying to save the other from the inevitable fate of the Bad Thing. Also did you know one of them is immortal, and this isn't the first time these events have happened. also did i mention this is a mlp au.

as for the character, I'd say BigB right now!! He's such a good guy.. SO UNDERRATED.. I just finished my second rewatch of Double Life from Grian's pov and the secret soulmates thing GETS ME EVERY TIMEEE they both so cute WAHH!!

yall are too normal about secret life desert duo. bc like grian probably figures scar doesnt want anything to do with him after he cheated on him then BETRAYED him in cold blood in the following season. so, he puts distance between them, thinking its for the best. however, scars lonelyness puts him vulnerable to be manipulated by the watchers, just like grian once was. now he has won, but he is trapped in the sunflower fields.
grian, ofc, feel horrible. he would never want scar to end up like he did. so, he uses what watcher abilities he has to watch over him. still, in his full watcher form he takes in between seasons, he cannot speak to players. grian takes the form of him in 3rd life, bc thats the only form when him and scar's relationship was good.
instead, scar just sees a 3rd life grian in the sunflower fields, dead silent, just WATCHING him. make mind that he prob has no idea about grian being a watcher. his last interaction with him was "shes dead scar, you won". omfg, i am unwell

Grian is a Scarlet Macaw because of the pesky bird situation and his very social personality
Scar is a American short hair specifically looking like Jellie and his gentle and playful personality matches
Mumbo is a rabbit no specific his skittish and active movement's just remained me of a rabbit
Jimmy is a Canary for obvious reasons including the curse and his cheerful personality
Joel is a dragon because of his hot headed and confidence dragons are also seen as the rivals of unicorns
Scott is a unicorn because that man sacrifices him self every single time and unicorns rival dragons
Impulse is a goat because goats can be seen as symbols of demons/Imps and are quite intelligent animals
Skizz is a dove because of his angle association and adorably wholesome and social personality
Tango is a lion because of its association with fire and his decisive and very loyal, loud personality
Etho is a snow fox for his quick wit, adaptability and slightly cheeky personality, and he lives in Canada so snow
Bdubs is a horse because of his sometimes very bossy/challenging personality and overall social behavior
Cleo is a snake because they can be very protective and seem really scary but generally are pretty harmless
Martyn is a rat for his very social personality and well he is pretty much the watchers little experiment during the games
Ren is a dog specifically a Corgi because of his bold and friendly demeaner along with being loyal to a fault with those he teams with
Lizzie is a Calico cat because of her generally spunky personality and the mayor from Empires season 2
Bigb is a lamb because they are typically associated with God which can translate to Watchers in the game situation along with him being gentle and cautious personality
Gem is a Fallow deer because it is an invasive species in lots of places connecting to the idea that she wasn't supposed to be in the games in the first place
Pearl is a wolf because of her Tilly situation and her affectionate and relatively aggressive personality along with her independence
Just my thoughts on this not a whole lot of explanation never been good at that but you get the point.
