ART worked as a TA thru its doctorate(s) before becoming an adjunct professor. ART's crew are all in various positions around the university, and still involved with the espionage stuff like in canon.
ART and MB both still do crazy espionage cyberhacker business in secret, and ART has a tricked out van with its own encrypted signals and whatnot that they both drive around in for missions.
MB does not have a legal drivers license, but does have a military ID, art has a commercial drivers license for doing secret cargo transport business.
i dont know much about coding or computers, but it is important to me that even in a human au they are both constantly doing insane hacker shit on the regular.
MB will take cybersecurity gigs on the side to make extra money and hardly ever spends it because even in a human au it lives like it has no biological wants or needs.
MB refuses to even entertain the concept of going for a degree, but it has been convinced to audit a few media studies classes after much prompting from ART.
when they both stand together, MB looks short. MB is not short, ART is just Very Tall.
imo ART would dress in a business casual yet Distinctly Gay manner: the collared shirt/vests with bolo tie, all in more interesting colors than someone corporate would ever consider, big sciencey earrings, that whole deal.
MB would accidentally dress like it was going to or returning from the gym, but only because ART helps it pick out matching sweatpants/shirts combos that make it look fit, while still being very comfy and having many pockets.
this is because ART has a an agenda, and the agenda is making sure MB stops looking like someone's feral outdoor cat. MB accepts this, as long as it still has enough pockets.
MB has a messy backstory like in canon, it was maybe in the military, locked into doing messed up stuff until it had completed its tour of duty - mensah & co were able to get it properly discharged from duty instead of continuously locked in to more years of service and so it feels simultaneously indebted and grateful.
MB is constantly crashing at other people's homes - it alternates most frequently between mensah's farm and ART's apartment, but it also stays with ratthi or other preservation humans sometimes.
MB has set up everyone with a VPN and given them all access to its media server, as well as any odd computer/optimization tasks they need.
MB and ART get really good at being roommates. i feel like the best way to translate their feed compatibility is something like this. they will spend weeks on end together only interrupted by arguments or errands and they are both perfectly content with this. they will spend hours and sometimes days in silence, yet will be in the same room/cuddling the entire time.
ART & MB also sometimes work on robotics projects together, making personalized robots and drones and radios and such.
i could keep going, but this post is already long enough as is. mainly just a braindump of the thoughts I've been having while working on MB fanart.
