Did a cover for a project I did in my Comic Creation class this past semester. Putting together a mini-comic of my own was really fun, and has made me want to remaster the comic I did at the end of "Lego Elves: The New World"
Gonna nerd out about the design real quick:
So I went for my original idea of busts arranged in a semi-symmetrical formation. I wanted to keep a theme of diagonal balance regarding both the girls, their elements, and their elements' qualities. As you go counter-clockwise, each element leads into another LiAnn the most confrontational of the group, so she is at the top and breaking the containment by looking at the viewer, almost demanding you start reading. Opposite LiAnn is Loomina. She's looking up towards LiAnn (and the rest of her mentors/the viewer). She's the least confrontational and the most diplomatic, perhaps asking you nicely to give the comic a try
Next is Lecutta. They're incredibly active and always says what's on their mind. Her eyes are contained within the piece as she looks to her opposite, Vanessa. Vanessa is steady and introspective, she's always thinking and planning several steps ahead. Both of them have their eyes contained in the piece as they both work with people and thrive by helping their community
Next is Fern. Fern is a grounded individual who is materialistic. She looks "off-camera", determined to take on the world. Opposite is Aeither, who is day-dreamy and takes in life as experiences. She looks off wistfully into the off-camera, pondering what could happen next. Both of them are independent, looking off into the world for a way instead of into the community
Fire is heat, which is energy. You know what else is energy? Lightning. What does lightning do? Strikes the Earth. What is the Earth close to? Water. What does water often turn into? Ice. Ice is cold, and what happens when something is really cold? It radiates cold air. The cold air travels and then gets warmer, and what else is warm? Fire.
The symbols in the center match up to the girl in the same position. The gold symbol in the very center is one of the alchemic symbols for Gold, which is one of the core goals of the story
