Muffled sounds of complaint
Now that Tess is sporting the beta design of an in-game unit token, let’s get to talking about some of the ailments you can expect to see in Keen Original Fighter Tour
The Slowed ailment
“W-h-y… i-s… e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g… s-o… f-a-s-t-?”
This ailment has been reworked since its debut in KOFTournament. Originally it was a turn-skipping ailment with worse luck for heavier armors. Now, it cuts your speed stat by three points, reducing your overall movement in battle. Slowed will also have a unique mechanic for shaking off where; instead of rolling to remove it, you spend a turn making zero movement and choosing to convert your action into a reaction. Taking this passive approach to your turn will guarantee its removal. However, when AFTERSlowed; you cannot move at all on the first turn of effects, your speed penalty increases from three to four, and the ailment is immune to the normal method of shaking it off (items still work though).
The Confused ailment
“What in the [by boogity] is going on here?! Did you scramble my [trumpet honk] circuits boss?!?!”
Confusion remains largely unchanged from its OG version. The dice rolled has simply changed to a d% instead of a standard d10, but you will still hit yourself while attacking by rolling lower than a 50%. The OVERConfused ailment only changes the standard one by dealing 1d4 damage to yourself when your successful roll is between 50% and 70%.
The Bleeding ailment
“What on god’s green [DIC Productions] are you- OW! You stabbed me like a pincushion! Now I’m [‘tis but a scratch]!”
Bleeding is a new ailment introduced for Keen Original Fighter Tour. Bleeding has you take 1 damage at the start of your turn for each turn you’ve been bleeding (1 on the first, 2 on the second, so-on and so-forth), and will reduce your vigor and endurance stats by 1. When OVERBleeding, any damage type that you would take normally is now considered potent damage, and resisted damage will be taken as standard damage.
The Drenched ailment
Sounds of aggravated struggling and lots of waterboarding
The Drenched ailment is a mix of old and new. Like before, your agility stat is reduced by 2 and you take 2 extra damage from Shock attacks. A new effect is that when you make movement, you are affected by slippery terrain conditions (think ice physics in puzzles, but there is a punishment if you run out of movement before stopping). OVERDrenched is still a rough ailment, because you are so bogged down with moisture that your character’s typing is overridden to only Tidal. Because your elemental balance is so unstable; Shock damage replaces the ailment with Paralysis, Chill damage makes you Frozen, and Light damage causes Blindness.

This is part of the (long, painstaking process) of trying to make a retelling of all my various little excursions into roleplay related games. Expanding on my three OCs I alluded to in This Post (+ a rogue drawing of my friend), I wanted to really test my abilities since my improvement started back in I think late '23, maybe early '24 (partially spurred on by the sketchbook goblin ActuallyRea lol)

Akira:
- Like 19, She/They, Human
- Very much based on Frisk Undertale, their main mode of attack is a "big stick" for this reason (& because Estelle is Bestelle (I have yet to play Trails in the Sky))
- The curious sort, always looking for new puzzles to solve, new mysteries to crack, new ARGs to watch unfold, etc.
- First to be adopted by R, first just as a lab assistant but eventually cuz he found them quite amusing
- She's the type to [FIGHT] & [SPARE] you through every single method if it means she gets to learn a lil more about you, though she's not the type to kill - hence, Big Stick.
Ronan:
- Somewhere in his mid 20s, He/It, Vulpine Monster (species name pending)
- Based on Flareon AND Glaceon AND Eevee because middle school me thought she was the shit. Still retains some of this, he could theoretically change his "typing" on the fly if I ever get around to making the game idea I have with him & Akira in mind, but that's a story for another day
- LOVES the spotlight, he practically becomes a different person under it. He's very dry & responsible normally, but onstage he's a beast, very flamboyant, very boisterous. "All to give the people what they want," It'd say as is he just doesn't love the praise.
- Second to be adopted by R after he realized this poor boyo desperately needed some parental attention
- Once traveled with a small circus troupe of like a handful of "Lesser Monsters" after being rescued from poachers.
Torch:
- Timeless, Any/All, (Artificial) Starburst (my version of what is commonly referred to as an Astral in the Kirby OC community/fandom, species name also pending)
- Take a look at their design & bloody guess what they were based off. That's right, Shadow the Edgehedge (& Meta Knight)
- The Third to be "adopted" by R, though moreso because they were made by the man
- Despite what would probably be projected into & onto them, they don't actually have any baggage because of the nature of their existence, though they don't exactly flaunt it either. In fact, it rarely comes up because "who cares - I wasn't here once, I am now, lets get to the next part."
- Very, VERY brash, and pretty abrasive. Do-first, think-later type of freak. They can come across as an asshole, but they mostly mean well - just gotta let out the Zoomies, most often through combat.
Extra Info:
- Nora's not a part of this group. That was a rogue sketch that was already on the page that I didn't have the heart to cover up because it's of an old friend of mine. Maybe she could be a mentor type to this group, but idk
- The Sticky note doodles & notes were for if they were in Kirby Air Riders, specifically their Specials (Torch would hop off their star, Ronan would summon items, & Akira would mimic other riders' specials)
- Not one of them has a driver's license.
- Whenever they meet up for a brief respite in their various Travels & Missions, they always make The Family Drink & play whatever they can quickly hook up to the TV (typically Mario Party or Kart)
- Torch is a Glass-Cannon supreme, Ronan's quite the Support & Wildcard, and Akira's typically the Off-Tank or Brawler depending on what armor they're rocking

'Ronan', the eldest, runs a television network called "Shaved Ice Entertainment". Any attempts to schedule an interview are often met with corporate letters saying he's terribly busy. "
'Akira', the middle child, has likewise declined interviews, and hasn't been convicted of any serious, confirmed crimes - to our knowledge - that would warrant her arrest for interrogation.
The whereabouts of their youngest sibling, 'Torch', are yet unknown. Ever on the move, any attempts to track them have been met with dead ends & red herrings. A bounty will be issued for 'Torch Random' at a later date.
The three Juveniles are suspected to be connected to a notorious, dangerous criminal, "R. Tereme" - wanted for several cases of dimensional barrier shattering, genetic experimentation without a warrant, petty theft, and the unleashing of [REDACTED].
For now, all we've to go off of is their potential connection to both one another and the Star-shaped relic used in [REDACTED]. It is suspected that the youngest is in possession of this relic for reasons currently unknown, possibly given by the other two, who once used a similar relic in the past.
Should more evidence come to light, they shall be brought in for questioning and possibly tried." - Paradime Investigator Z.
