I used to be that person who read two 400-page books a week. Now I carry around a book with me everywhere I go to try and remember what it feels like to feel that connection within the pages because I can’t concentrate to read further than a paragraph, or remember it, for that matter. Every time I see someone engrossed in a novel, it’s bittersweet, because I miss what it is like to get lost in the written word. I just want to be able to read like that again.

October 29th will mark 2 years since I wrote this post out of frustration due to struggling with my mental health.

October 30th of this year I will be in my first class towards my bachelors degree. I’ve read 47 out of my goal of 80 books for the year. After a year in therapy, I have been stable for over 6 months, and I am no longer on anxiety medication. I can concentrate and remember again, I’ve been able to sit down and read for 2 hours at a time.

I bring a book with me everywhere I go and use any free moment I have to get in a couple pages or chapter.

So to everyone who continues to reblog this, anything is possible. When I wrote the original post, i didn’t even think I would be reading again.

This is progress that I take pride in.
