Money/power (for the leaders)
In the modern era, science has given us answers, while rising living standards, peace and stability can reduce the demand for hope.
Money must not accumulate
Money cannot be allowed to accumulate, because that leads to great inequality, and money is power. We must tax the wealthy so that money can be gained mostly through labor, not existing wealth.
As long as money continues to accumulate, more redistribution is needed.
My definition of art
Something that makes you think or feel something, usually something unexpected, or in an unexpected way.
No one person needs or deserves to have a thousand times more money or power than another
No one person's wealth needs to be over 1M âŹ/$/etc, nor should they ever have more than 10M âŹ/$/etc.

No one group of people defined by qualities they were born with and cannot change, deserves to have more or less power or money, than another group.
Slavery reparations in the US are just one example of trying to bring equality between groups, but the historical justifications are not even necessary.
I used to think that being proud of your sexuality or gender is silly
If itâs something innate, then you had no part in it. So why be proud of it? Then I realized that many sexual, gender and romantic minorities are shamed for those innate attributes. They are taught to hate themselves. So how does one undo that? What is the opposite of shame?
Pride.
An era of great childrenâs programming
Iâve heard some people say how childrenâs shows these days are bad, and that they used to be better. As someone who has seen several, old and new, I think they are great, and I think they can also be enjoyed by adults. In fact I think we have never had shows as good as these before. Some of the great series Iâve seen include
- She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Legend of Korra
- Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts
- The Owl House
- Hilda
- Gravity Falls
- Bluey
- Over the Garden Wall
And some shows that I have not yet seen, but have heard a lot of good about
- Adventure Time
- Steven Universe
- Amphibia
No true scotsman
The question of what people belong to which groups depends on the perspective, but if I want an answer, I determine it like this
- Does the person consider themselves to be part of the group?
- Do other people who are widely considered to be part of the group, consider that person to be part of them?
- Do other people who are widely considered to not be part of the group, consider the person to belong to the group?
If the answer to two out of these three questions is yes, then I think that person is part of the group.
Lowering tensions between US, Europe and Russia, and maybe ending the war in Ukraine: European Defense Union to replace NATO
I think many people would agree that one reason for the Ukraine-Russia war have been the tension between USA and Russia, and as an extension, NATO and Russia. As one blog post put it, it doesnât matter whether Putin should fear NATO if he nonetheless does. And vice versa. So to reduce these tensions:
Disband NATO, and in its place create a European defense union based on mutual defense of member states (unlike NATO, member states within the union would also be protected from each other). Russia and Ukraine should both join, but USA should not. Not sure about Canada. Russia and Ukraine should probably have a special clause that they don't have to defend each other for the next 50 or so years. Naturally, this could only happen on the condition that the Ukraine-Russia war ends.
This would, hopefully
- Lower the USA-Russia tensions, due to USA removing its military bases from Europe and NATO essentially not being a thing anymore.
- Lower the amount of power projection by USA. Generally I want countries to be as equal as possible, so taking the most powerful country down a peg could be good.
- Lower the tensions between Russia and the rest of Europe, due to now belonging to a common defense union, and cooperating on defense.
- Make European countries stop relying on USA for their defense, which I think could be their own responsibility.
The main idea is to make neighbouring countries less afraid of each other, and even out power imbalances, which I think can lead to war.
Now, would anyone actually want this?
Ukraine could want this because it would stop the war
Russian people could want this because it stops the war. Putin could want this because it lets him boast how he "destroyed NATO", and thus leave Ukraine as a "winner".
Rest of the European countries might feel mixed about this. There is currently a lot of animosity towards Russia, but they might be for it if it stops the war
I imagine that USA would not want this. But they are also the only party that would (on paper) not get a say in this.
The simpler alternative to this plan would be that Russia and Ukraine both join NATO, which I would also be for, if it ends the war. But that is even more dependent on the US, who I think would be against it. Probably Russia too.
I'm aware that this might not be very feasible, but I don't see Ukraine winning or losing leading to reduced tensions, which I think would cause problems in the long-term. Edit: The political situation has shifted a bit since I posted this, and this plan might be a bit more feasible now, with there being more animosity between US and Europe.

Stop using work as a measure of how well a country is doing
Generally, I think we want to maximize human comfort, safety and freedom, while enabling everyone to develop themselves and to have fulfilling relationships with each other and their environment. I also want people to be (more) equal. See sdgs.un.org/goals
With that in mind, we focus too much on âpercentage of people with jobsâ as a shorthand for all this. People working to make products that other people will buy, but donât actually need, and where most of the money goes to a small group of people, is not going to make the world a better place. If we had a ruling class of 1% and all the rest were slaves, we would have an employment rate of 99%.
Stop using the word âtalentedâ so much
The word âtalentedâ implies that a personâs attunement with a skill is innate, and disregards any work a person had to do to get to that high level. It also exaggerates how different people are. Try âskilledâ, âproficientâ, âadeptâ, or maybe âexperiencedâ instead.
Cooperation that doesnât immediately benefit oneself can be a rational strategy even for selfish agents https://ncase.me/trust/
In other words, even if we assume humans to be selfish, cooperation should still be possible (I hope).
Individualism leads to selfishness
If people donât need to consider other people when making decisions, they wonât.
I've lived in Finland for around 90% of my life, and in Britain for around 10%. I therefore consider myself to be 90% finnish, and 10% british.

All minorities put together are a majority.
Person A kills person B, and takes over Bâs house.
A gives the house to their child, Aâ. Person B also had a child, Bâ, who now doesnât have a house. Is it ethically right for person Aâ to give their house to Bâ, or to share it? Would it be right to force Aâ to give the house to Bâ? What is the best solution?
