In The Woods Somewhere (werewolf Mike, human Will)
Mike knows he isn't normal. None of his family is since that attack. He has to keep it a secret. He must if he wants to stay with his friends, especially if it means being by Will's side. Will has always been an animal lover, that's why he's excited every time he comes home to his dog Chester. He doesn't get why there are times he can't see Mike. He doesn't get why Joyce doesn't want him to go too far into the woods. When he finds himself in danger, the only thing - animal? - that can save Will has fur the same color as his best friend Mike's hair.

There's a Friday the 13th in October this year!
This man is perfect in every way
It has to put a good vibe in the uber even tho he does not talk
Mike's character regression can be explained in large part by one emotion in particular: guilt
Just want to preface this by saying that, this is not Mike slander. I love this dude. In fact, I think what makes Mike such an interesting character is that a lot of his behavior throughout the series can be explained in part by previous moments, and after really looking at all these moments together, what you end up with is a pretty fucked up story.
So while some might want to take this as Mike slander, these points I'm making are a part of Mike and things he has done and said and whether they were intentionally harmful or not, it's Mike. It's all shaped him and his role in the story. The fact that we're seeing a visible shift in his behavior at all, with plenty of moments from the show to back up what brought us here, makes it compelling enough to talk about.

Danganronpa where Junko doesn't die.
Makoto is actually able to talk her out of it.
And thus Junko ends up coming with them.
And just kinda becomes everyone annoying room mate.
They wonder if she'll just end up betraying and leaving them for dead.
But Makoto just shrugs "I mean you did that to me and I got you out."
No one quite knows how to respond to that one.
Junko's just kinda vibing.
It's also unnerving that Makoto is the only one at ease with her.
He's still mad, hurt and everything.
But he never feared Junko.
The thing about the embodiment of Hope and Despair being together is that they are rather alike.
And Makoto talking Junko down did something no one anticipated.
It gave Junko hope.
And for once it doesn't feel so bad.
And I mean if Makoto can rehabilitate the Remnants of Despair.
Than who says he can't aggressively befriend Junko.
I say its within his skill set.
Byakuya: What is that...
Makoto: slurping a smoothie as he leaves the school with Junko a smoothie?
He doesn't he try to change her or anything, he's just himself and that's enough.
Like when a feral cat warms up to you.
Makoto: Well I'm gonna go steal government technology.
Junko: Now we're talking!
Makoto: Yup! Come on Junko let's go rehabilitate the Remnants.
Junko: Ew no why would I want to help with that?
Makoto: You get to undermine the future foundation and piss them off.
Junko: trys and fails not to sound intrigued Fiinneee.
In a Sentimental Mood (Nana picking up on Byler)
If there's one thing true in this world, it's that Mike loves his Nana, and Nana loves her sole grandson Mike. She was there for his birth when Karen needed someone with her in the hospital, Nancy staying at Barb's house while Ted had been too far away at work, and even if he managed to leave early, he'd be stuck in rush hour traffic. Nana held Karen's hand, squeezing tight in reassurance, and then that same hand held a newborn Mike bundled in a soft warm blanket clenching and unclenching his tiny fingers. It's one of the best days of her life.
Then, four years later, when Mike and Nancy are visiting her because Nana had a false health scare, stirring up Karen to be more attentive and nurturing, she hears for the first time a name - Will Byers. Relaxing in her living room with a record player on to fill the air with smooth jazz - In A Sentimental Mood by Duke Ellington and John Coltrane - Nana listens to Mike describe in stunning detail for a child of his age about his new friend Will that he met on the swing sets.

"What are you- Will, can you just- can you stop being so dramatic?”
Mike winces immediately as soon as the words are out of his mouth, regretting them just as quickly, but they have the desired effect nonetheless; Will does stop.
He stands still a few steps ahead of Mike, breathing heavily, the back of his neck stiff in a way that reminds Mike of an angry cat. Mike swallows, stares at Will, at the long line of his neck, at the way his shoulders have inched upwards towards his ears. Mike stares at him and tries to ignore the way his fingers twitches by his side, that undercurrent of want that he can't quite seem to shake these days. He stares, and he ignores, and he waits for Will to turn around and when he does, it's with dark eyes and clenched fists.
“Dramatic?” Will bites out, shaking his head in disbelief as he lets out a laugh, unfurling a hand to point at himself. “You’re calling me dramatic?”
“I didn’t-”
“You can really be a fucking asshole sometimes, you know that, right."
Mike doesn’t really know how to respond to that, but just as he opens his mouth to say something, anything, it starts raining. Of course it does; Will might be right that he isn’t being dramatic, but this fight is, and the rain just adds to it. It’s ridiculous, Mike thinks, because he doesn’t even really understand what they’re fighting about.
"Fine," he halfshouts, holding up his hands, the rain already seeping in through his clothes; he's tired and wet and cold. "I'm an asshole, whatever. Can we go back inside now?"
Will looks at him then, the anger in his face turning into something else entirely - confusion, maybe, or- or realization. He looks at Mike as if he's discovered something new about him.
"You really don't get it, do you?"
There's no malice in his voice anymore, no anger left, only a strange kind of resignment. Mike's fingers twitch again, that need to reach out making itself known; he ignores it. This whole thing, the way the fight has slowed down and turned around on him, like a wild animal calmly waiting for him to make the next move, is making Mike feel even more out of the loop. There is an insistent voice in the back of his mind, though, telling him that he knows what this is about.
"Is this- is it about the painting?" Mike asks then, and when Will looks away, he continues, "it is, isn't it?"
“It wasn't-" Will stops, bites his lip, and then sighs. He looks back up at Mike, tilting his chin up a little as if trying to compose himself, but Mike can tell that he's nervous. "El didn't ask me to paint it."
“But," Mike says, brows furrowing; it still feels like there's something he's missing, "you said that she- you said, in the van, when you- when you gave it to me, you said that it was from-”
“Mike...”
It's barely audible over the sound of the rain falling around them, and if Mike hadn't been so close, he'd probably would have missed it. But he hear Will say his name, and he sees the way Will is looking at him; eyes wide and red rimmed, like he is hoping, pleading, for Mike to just get it. The false bravado Will had displayed just a few moments ago is gone, and Mike doesn't want to fight anymore.
The rain is still coming down hard, they're soaking wet, and Mike suddenly doesn't find it in himself to care about that anymore. Because he looks at Will, at the way he tilts his head just so, how his eyes flickers down to Mike's lips for a fraction of a second, and then back up again, and something shifts, then.
He looks at Will, and thinks of the painting; how it had been so important for Will, that he even took it with him on what was basically a suicide mission; thinks about how he had handed it to Mike with a bashful smile, a barely contained blush on his cheeks; thinks about everything he had said about it, about Mike.
That undercurrent, that slow running river of want that he has stayed as far away from as possible, is picking up speed. He can feel it almost crashing against the inside of his chest, how every single door to every single room where he has kept his love for Will securely hidden are slamming wide open with the force of it, as all the pieces he didn't dare to connect finally fall into place. It feels momentous, life changing in a way he didn't think was even possible, and he wants to say something, wants to tell Will everything.
"Oh," is what he says instead.
"Yeah."
Will shrugs a little, as if to say, surprise, and he looks so sad. It makes Mike ache with it. Because now Will is the one who doesn't get it. He takes a step forward and, when Will looks up at him, he moves a little bit closer. He lifts his hands slowly, carefully places them on Will's arms and gently slides them up over his shoulders, until they rest in the soft curve of his neck. Mike can feel a shiver run through Will's body and, if the wide eyed wonder in Will's eyes is anything to go by, it isn't from the rain. Mike hope it isn't from the rain.
Will blinks at him, his hair plastered to his forehead, his clothes absolutely soaking wet, and then he reaches out, too; his hands finds the wet fabric of Mike's sweater, his fingers curling around Mike's waist, and then he tugs a little. Mike goes willingly, pressing his forehead against Will's. They stand there for a moment, which honestly, they should really get out of the rain and into the warmth of the house again. Mike knows this, but he can't bring himself to move, not yet.
“I- I wanted it to be from you,” he whispers, the words falling from his lips before he can stop them. “I wanted it to be from you so badly.”
Will tugs him even closer then, his nose bumping into Mike's as he leans in to press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. And Mike- well, Mike can't help but chase after him when he leans back, capturing Will's lips over and over again, pressing in as closely as possible. Somewhere in the far corner of his mind, he registers that the rain is slowing down, and that high up above them the clouds clear out just enough to shower them in light.
It’s all chill, Zahra!!
