once you realize how much everyone fucking loves age- and incest-play you'll go even more insane when they tell you to join their campaign to run transgender woman #487324 off the internet (where she gets her income) for her incest kink or whatever
it really is Our Righteous "pouting and throwing a cute tantrum at my partner to get what i want", "daddy/mommy", "old man yaoi", and a long etc v. their villainous "calling her partner 'little sis'" to encourage sexual abuse of children or smth
and not like it is important but since i sometimes see that thrown around: they love doing it in public too, and i don't mean in an obscure tumblr blog (theyre straight) but at. the store in front of 20 people. again, it is one of their main things.
i'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before but i'm just thinking about how common and rendered-invisible by normalization it is to see a straight couple where the woman playfully acts like a little girl sometimes for whatever reason and it's. fine. and i of course don't mean they should leave it in the bedroom or whatever i'm not christian, i'm saying it's so overt but of course it's fine when non-transmisogynized people do it. they have never harmed children in any way obviously.

got a crick in my neck and a frog in my throat and a chip on my shoulder and a stick up my ass and now you're gonna stand there puttin words in my mouth? haven't I been through enough?
um actually there's nothing wrong with letting cats be outdoor pets. your cat is depressed locked inside forever. it's animal abuse. let it outside. more cats should be let outside more often. especially overnight.
In 2007, legendary Hall of Fame baseball player and broadcaster, Bob Uecker, stayed in a Pittsburgh hotel that was home to Anthrocon, the largest furry convention in the world. While broadcasting, the octogenarian sports legend said that "they call themselves furriers, I believe," and "the furrier society were checking themselves in just as the team arrived. A little strange, but....that's their thing."
As Anthrocon is historically held minutes from PNC Park where the Pittsburgh Pirates play, many baseball players have an association with furry. For example, former Major League MVP for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Andrew "Cutch" McCutchen (average: .419) always tweeted about furries when Anthrocon was in town for Pittsburgh home games. On a podcast hosted by the former quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cutch was asked point blank if he was a furry, and he said he "had no fursona." McCutchen's fascination with furries is so well known that there is a t-shirt design with Cutch in Pittsburgh with the word "FURRIES" on it.
The strangest part of all is this: McCutchen has notably improved performance during home games held at the same time as Anthrocon, and it was observed that if he continued his performance at the same level he does when Anthrocon is in town, Cutch would be the greatest baseball player in history.

the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form
ok so this is another long shot but a few years ago there was a twitter post (in japanese i think?) that had measurememts for how to make this book stand thing out of cardboard that you could use to double up books and use up more space on shelves
back then i made a bunch of these but by now i lost the pic and dont know how to find the original post anymore
if it comes down to it i can just take one apart and get the measurements from there but i would be very grateful if anyone happens to have the original post or something similar??
don't mind how long it's been since i made this post, anyway i realized that i don't even need to take one apart to get the measurements when i can literally just unfold it and refold it /FACEPALM
so anyway here is the diagram for anyone else who is interested!!
this requires pretty big carboard pieces, if you have a really big box or something you can make it from one piece, but if you don't, you can also just make each of the pieces individually and then tape them together
and then in the end you put it together like this!!
and then when you make a bunch you can put them all next to each other and stack your books like crazy
EVERYONE START GETTING MORE USE OUT OF YOUR SPACE NOW!!!!
its awesome that neither mind reading nor god are real and all of the thoughts inside of your head are completely private and consequenceless forever #myprivacy
โThe Ghetto Tarotโ: Haitian artists transform classic tarot deck into stunning real life scenes:
Welcome to the Ghetto Tarot, a project from award-winning documentary photographer Alice Smeets and a group of Haitian artists known as Atis Rezistans. The idea was to take the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck of 78 cards and create a photographic version of each card using settings and objects in the vibrant ghetto of Haiti.
As Smeets says, โThe spirit of the Ghetto Tarot project is the inspiration to turn negative into positive while playing. The group of artists โAtiz Rezistansโ use trash to create art with their own visions that are a reflection of the beauty they see hidden within the waste. They are claiming the word โGhetto,โ thus freeing themselves of its depreciating undertone and turning it into something beautiful.โ

I do think the post that's like "when they torture you to insanity and then torture you for being insane ๐๐คฃ" is one of the most succinct and foundational analyses of interpersonal violence and conflict that had ever been written
i bring a sort of โyou should maybe interrogate your so-called โpreferencesโ to make sure theyโre not literal textbook examples of severe unconscious biasโ vibe that my woke gay friends dont really like
i know things are hella grim in the nsfw/kink art circles especially in the last year --
but I'm hearing there's a NSFW-friendly ko-fi alternative built on atproto that's actively in the works, and being vetted by lawyers right now. as torrent-princess (OP) says, you should be able to swap out payment processors while keeping your account intact. this matters since even if stripe removes support, you'll still have a shop and all of your links intact. (ATproto is an infrastructure that bsky is built on, but is far bigger than bsky with far more opportunities.)
additionally, the Free Speech Coalition is working on a credit union specifically for adult work (including kink art) - here's the link so you can add your interest & support. Since this will be built by sex workers, there'll be far less risk of being debanked for spurious and puritanical reasons.
on a domain TLD level, there's an initiative here for a .furry domain built from the ground up by seasoned furries; it's unclear whether they'll support NSFW, but it's yet another promising turn of events for a group that's been similarly affected by censorship.
there are friends and allies out there helping to build a working parallel infrastructure. keep being vocal, keep supporting these initiatives when it's possible, and keep supporting your nsfw/kink artists. โฅ

๐ How to Build a Culture Without Just Inventing Spices and Necklaces
(a worldbuilding roast. with love.)
So. Youโre building a fantasy world, and youโve just invented:
โ Three types of ceremonial jewelry
โ A spice that tastes like cinnamon if it were bitter and cursed
โ A holiday where everyone wears gold and screams at dawn
Cute. But thatโs not culture. Thatโs aesthetics.
And if your worldbuilding is all outfits, dances, and spice blends with vaguely mystical names, your storyโs probably going to feel like a cosplay convention held inside a Pinterest board.
Hereโs how to fix thatโaka: how to build a real, functioning culture that shapes your story, not just its vibes.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
๐ Culture Is Built on Power, Not Just Style
Ask yourself:
โ Whoโs in charge, and why?
โ Who has land? Who doesnโt?
โ Whatโs considered taboo, sacred, or punishable by death?
Culture is shaped by who gets to make the rules and who gets crushed by them. Thatโs where things like religion, family structure, class divisions, gender roles, and social expectations actually come from.
Start there. Not at the embroidery.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
2.๐ช Culture Comes From Conflict
Did this society evolve peacefully? Was it colonized? Did it colonize? Was it rebuilt after a war? Is it still in one?
โ What was destroyed and mythologized?
โ What do the survivors still whisper about?
โ What do children get taught in school thatโsโฆ suspiciously sanitized?
No culture is neutral. Every tradition has a history, and that history should taste like blood, loss, or propaganda.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
3.๐ง Belief Systems > Customs Lists
Sure, rituals and holidays are cool. But what do people believe about:
โ Death?
โ Love?
โ Time?
โ The natural world?
โ Justice?
Example: A society that believes time is cyclical vs. one that sees time as linear will approach everythingโfrom prison sentences to griefโcompletely differently.
You donโt need to invent 80 gods. You need to know what those gods mean to the people who pray to them.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
4.๐ซ Culture Controls Behavior (Quietly)
Culture shows up in:
โ What people apologize for
โ What insults cut deepest
โ What people are embarrassed about
โ Whatโs praised publicly vs. whatโs hidden privately
For instance:
โ A culture obsessed with stoicism wonโt say โI love you.โ Theyโll say โHave you eaten?โ
โ A culture built on legacy might prioritize ancestor veneration, archival writing, name inheritance.
This stuff? Way more immersive than giving everyone matching earrings.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
5. ๐ Culture = Daily Life, Not Just Festivals
Sure, your MC might attend a funeral where people paint their faces blue. But what about:
โ Breakfast routines?
โ How people greet each other on the street?
โ Who cooks, and who eats first?
โ Whatโs considered โcleanโ or โproperโ?
โ How is parenting handled? Divorce?
Culture is what happens between plot points. It should shape your characterโs assumptions, language, fears, and habitsโwhether or not a festival is going on.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
6. ๐ฌ Let Your Characters Disagree With Their Own Culture
A culture isnโt a monolith.
Even in deeply traditional societies, people:
โ Rebel
โ Question
โ Break rules
โ Misinterpret laws
โ Mock sacred things
โ Act hypocritically
โ Weaponize or resist whatโs expected
Let your characters wrestle with the culture around them. Thatโs where realism (and tension) lives.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
7.๐งผ Beware the โPretty = Goodโ Trap
Worldbuilding gets boring fast when:
โ The protagonistโs homeland is beautiful and pure
โ The enemyโs culture is dark and โbarbaricโ
โ Every detail just reinforces who the reader should like
You canโand shouldโchallenge the aesthetic hierarchy.
โ Let ugly things be beloved.
โ Let beautiful things be corrupt.
โ Let your MC romanticize their culture and then get disillusioned by it later.
โโโโโโโ โฆ โโโโโโโ
๐ TL;DR (but like, spicy):
โ Culture is not food and jewelry.
โ Culture is power, fear, memory, contradiction.
โ Stop inventing spices until you know who starved last winter.
โ Let your world feel lived in, not curated.
The best cultural worldbuilding doesnโt look like a list.
It feels like a system. A pressure. A presence your characters canโt escapeโeven if they try.
Now go. Build something real. (You can add spices later.)

Sorry I fucking hate these condescending ass posts. How dare the poor get uppity at people. Meanwhile half of the middle class is voting to eradicate homeless people off the streets.
They're okaying means testing because of racism and are fine with anti-homeless architecture because homeless people are dirty and scary and want candidates who are "tough on crime" I really do mean it. The people you need to convince of that are the middle class.
