🛑 Your stress hormone is not the villain. Cortisol is supposed to help you wake up, focus, respond to stress, regulate inflammation, and mobilize energy when you need it.
The problem is when your body starts living like everything is an emergency.
🧬 Cortisol and blood sugar are deeply connected. When blood sugar swings up and down all day, cortisol often gets pulled into the mess. And when stress is high, your body can release stored glucose into the bloodstream, which can create more blood sugar dysregulation, cravings, crashes, and metabolic stress.
This is why “balancing cortisol” is not just about being less stressed.
It is also about eating in a way that tells your body, “We are safe. We are fed. We do not need to panic.”
🔥 Signs cortisol may be running high:
Poor sleep, belly weight gain, anxiety, blood sugar swings, midday crashes, carb cravings, and feeling wired but exhausted.
❄️ Signs cortisol may be running low:
Chronic fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, salt cravings, low motivation, and feeling like no amount of sleep actually restores you.

How to defeat your inner enemy
Don't Let 10 Bad Minutes Ruin the Other 1,430
Imagine you have $1,000, and someone steals $10 from you.
You probably wouldn't respond by taking the remaining $990 out of your wallet and throwing it away. That would make no sense.
Yet many of us do something remarkably similar with our time.
A rude comment, a stressful email, a traffic delay, an unexpected mistake, or a brief disagreement can ruin 10 minutes of our day. The problem is not the event itself—it's what happens next. We replay it in our minds, dwell on it for hours, and allow those few negative moments to consume the rest of the day.
Time is far more valuable than money: You can earn money back. You can't recover lost time.
When you spend the next several hours angry, frustrated, or resentful because of a 10-minute setback, you're effectively throwing away the remaining 1,430 minutes of your day.
This doesn't mean you should ignore your emotions or pretend nothing happened. Acknowledge what occurred. Feel what you need to feel. Learn from it if there's a lesson to be learned.
Then move forward.
Don't give a small moment the power to steal an entire day.
The next time something goes wrong, ask yourself:
"If I wouldn't throw away $990 because I lost $10, why would I throw away the rest of my day because of 10 bad minutes?"
