they seemed like very unlikely friends. but erica was nice to her and, though she didn’t know how it happened, but they started actually spending some time together. like right now. she would be getting ready for cheerleading tryouts the day after tomorrow. she may be on the team already but she needed to try out every year still, which she hated. instead, she was watching the lacrosse team. prim shrugged. “do you know them?” she only knew names herself, passing faces in the hall. she didn’t really know anyone by their numbers. prim had a feeling they didn’t really know her either. she chuckled through her nose, looking at erica and back at the field. “i mean, they’re all wearing helmets. i can’t really see anyone’s face.”

“Fourteen is Mr.Isaac Lahey, tall, smart, handsome, athletic with dreamy eyes. He’s my best friend and would be so super cute for you.” Erica explained as she watched with the pitch. She pulled her sunglasses down her nose and turned to Prim so she could look her in the eyes. “Twenty-four is Stiles Stininski. Terrible player. he’s mostly on the bench. Incredibly nerdy, mindbogglingly intelligent and the Sheriff’s son. He’s like super infatuated with Lydia Martin but that shouldn’t stop you.” Erica’s eyes focused back to the boys. “Eleven is Scott McCall, he’s not as bright as the other two but hes captain and has that prince charming savior complex.” Erica smiled fondly at Prim’s words. “That is the great thing about jocks, their bodies paint the picture, faces are negotiable.”

Look. She was Lydia goddamn Martin. She had a lot of patience. As the queen of this school, part of her duties was to pointedly ignore any unwanted disturbances - she was usually extremely good at that, but  E r i c a  seemed to find every way imaginable to get on her nerves all the time.

Not that is was particularly hard for her - everything from her hair to her voice to that obnoxious bubble gum was annoying.

“No.” She found out a long time ago that putting a smile on helped the overwhelming urge to grit her teeth. “I’ve just been admiring your ability to lower the IQ of a room just by being in it.”

Erica rolled her eyes at Lydia’s words, it came as no surprise that the other girl would say something as sarky as that to Erica. They never did exactly see eye-to-eye, even now Erica found it more fun to torment Lydia than to have rational conversations with her. Frankly Erica just didn’t care enough. 

“Now now Lydia-- that’s not very GIRLS SUPPORT GIRLS of you” Erica teased, sitting forward. She rested her elbow on the top of the table and her chin in the palm of her hand. “Whatever happened to burning bras in solidarity, Ill go first if you want me too.”  

She was a tough one, huh? A challenge. One that didn’t fall for pretty smiles and innocent words. Or at least, not yet. Impressive how fast people could change. How quick their minds could be blurred. How suddenly their thoughts could be altered. Stiles’ opinion on him had really spread like wildfire though, hadn’t it now? Something that might be a problem on the long run. Or might not… “Guess we will have to wait and see.” An air of confidence accompanied his words. A smile formed on his lips. “And you are, if I may ask?”

Erica raised an inquisitive eyebrow at Theo’s words, she wasn’t a fan of surprises but she supposed she could try and be patient enough to see what he meant. “Not too long hopefully or one of us will be dead.” she said matter-of-factually, like it was the most normal sentence in the world to say. Erica knew Derek wouldn’t like her sniffing around trouble in his absence but she couldn’t help it, it was just too much fun! “Erica Reyes” she purred. “I’ll pretend not to be hurt you didn’t already know that.”

Erica’s curious eyes laid gaze on the figure in front of her, Theo Raeken in the flesh. She was suspicious about a lot of people, especially ones with pretty smiles they were always the most dangerous. She stood with her arms crossed, long sharp nails resting against her skin, the claws ready to come out at any moment. She didn’t play for fun anymore, she played to win which she liked to let people know straight away. “You must be the guy Stiles hates” she grinned. “So I wonder if you’re more of a Jackson Whittemore dickhead or a Matt Deahler psychopath.” 

Erica whistled softly as the lacrosse team ran onto the field for practice, her large sunglasses covering her eyes. She sat back with a satisfied smile taking in the bare hairy legs, thick shoulders protected by pads and strong arms clutching onto the lacrosse sticks. “Oh I love pre-game season” she giggled as the boys took their places. “Between you and me number 24, 11 and 14  could get it. You see anyone you like?”

Erica chewed excessively loud on her bubblegum, humming to herself a catchy song she had heard on the radio this morning. Since now everyone wanted to be her she could be as menacing as she wanted and still have guys pawn over her and girls envy her. In a way she was now just like Lydia. She looked up from her book, eyes fixated on the strawberry blonde across from her. 

“Something distracting you princess?” she purred, before blowing a huge pink bubble and letting it POP.
