Toffee and Licorice

Toffee and Licorice from the very end of 2020! This was probably one of the very first times I was really, really satisfied with how art of them came out. By this point, I was getting pretty close to their final designs, but there was still plenty of tweaking to be done!

A silly crossover comic with @aw0's characters, Rote and Twinkelen. Licorice and Rote are smart guys, but they're still guys. Put them together and you're bound for some shenanigans.

Another favorite comic of mine! Toffee loves to experiment with her look, and Licorice is always happy to help her out, even if he's not always prepared for what that entails.

Here's a pair of characters who haven't had much time in the limelight since I created them. Pepper and Spear Mint, aka the Mint Twins! The specifics of their role in this setting have changed some since their inception, but one thing's been consistent: They're brats who like to tear down others in order to feel better about themselves, and unfortunately that often includes Toffee.

This one's an old fave of mine. I think it speaks for itself.

Another snapshot of Toffee and Taffy's evolving designs, this time from July of 2020! This was the point where I started giving them a cream color, rather than being pure white, bringing us that much closer to their current designs. Like I mentioned before, Taffy actually hasn't changed nearly as much as her sister, though there are still a few tweaks to go before we hit her modern design.

A comic from mid-2020! Sometimes, Toffee has to put her foot down about Licorice's lack of sleep. I think this is also the first time Toffee's strength was hinted at.

This old sketch is still a fave of mine, and I remember it going over quite well when I originally posted it. Toffee's got insecurities over her weight and appearance, but Licorice still thinks she's gorgeous.

Another old Toffee and Licorice comic! Toffee's job is equal parts boring and stressful, leading to her often getting home in a less than great mood.

A couple more old Toffee designs, from August and September of 2019. You can see she's approaching her modern design now, with the more detailed anatomy and the start of a nose, but she's still got a long way to go.

Another old piece, this time featuring an underutilized trait of Licorice. He might normally look pretty unassuming, but there's something about the way he looks in the dark that can be a bit... unsettling. For some reason, when the lights go out, Licorice goes full cryptid in appearance. The effect is stronger the sleepier he is. I wonder what causes it...

Additionally, a sketch of Toffee at her job. Sadly, the poor gal's not particularly fond of it. It's 100% boring desk job.

Couldn't find this one on my main blog for some reason, which is why this one's not a reblog, but showing off Rocksy's first appearance felt important enough to go out of my way to make a little post for it.
