well let’s see if I care
I DO
i’ve been seeing some posts talking about the d4vd situation where they’re upset about how their favorite songs are ruined (one person went on to describe why one of his songs meant so much to her….)
this is not about you. a little girl was murdered and the only thing you can think of is how it’s going to effect listening to a song? the fact you can even do that and effectively separate this fucking demon and the art he created is beyond me. get over yourself
so this musician who dismembered a 14 year old girl and hid her body in his trunk was known for making songs about killing his lover, including one where the lover’s name was the same as the girl in his trunk, and people STILL insist that men making and consuming depraved art about hurting women says nothing about them as individuals
Larry Gelbart interview on 'Abyssinia, Henry' and directing the episode.
'Abyssinia Henry'- Season 3 episode 24. Original Air Date- March 18, 1975 Written by Everett Greenbaum, Jim Fritzell Directed by Larry Gelbart
'…𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚔𝚎𝚕𝚎𝚝𝚘𝚗 𝚋𝚎𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚑𝚒𝚖 𝚊𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑 𝚒𝚝 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚖𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚗 𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚝𝚎𝚛.'
'I did something-- I directed ['Abyssinia, Henry'], as it turned out it was my turn in the box. And I did the one sort of directorial touch I’ve ever done in my life that that no one ever notices…and…but it was just kind of a pleasure for me to do. When– whenever Henry was seen in his office, there was always the skeleton behind him as though it foretold what might happen to the character.' -- Larry Gelbart (Full interview here.)
Happy 51st birthday to one of the best episodes of American television of all time.
(a few days late, but just forget that part)
x:
Ever since reading this, I get a little jolt of horror every time I see a shot of Henry with the skeleton in the frame. Not just Abyssinia, Henry, but every episode. It really has become the personification of death and it’s out to get him.
Yep. Most of the time in his office, Henry is near the skeleton. It's definitely something you cannot unsee when you watch the show.
does this mean you can all delete me with your brains? please don't, I have orphans to feed.

I'm so sorry to the Bisexuals but Francesca Bridgerton is a Lesbian. So is Michaela Stirling. Compulsive Heterosexuality is a thing. Y'all watched Fran decline every suitor available until she got to the autistic one like her. There was no romantic spark when they kissed. No rush of pleasure when he touched her. He was her best friend and husband. I adore him for this fact. But she literally forgot her own name the moment she saw his LADY cousin. Like, come on now.
And Michaela literally has No Boys Allowed stamped across her forehead. They're Lesbians.
I promise you, if they gave me any inclination that they liked men then I'd support it but they're not.
This has been my Ted Talk.
dislike when people say naruto's writing is so misogynistic it becomes gay. like no. naruto's writing is misogynistic AND it's gay. the misogyny has no influence on the gay. if you fix all of the misogyny in the writing, naruto and sasuke are still Like That
love will find me in all forms in 2026
realizing that the love has been living inside of me. maybe it really is spring
"Mikasa was obsessed with Eren" vs actual obsession:
To state the obvious: Mikasa was able to break from her previous glowing conception of Eren and think for herself, gaining a more complete picture of Eren as a person. If she was the shallow character people claim her to be, Mikasa would not have opposed the Yeagarists - she would've fallen in line, becoming an unthinking supporter of their fascist, genocidal reign. Instead, Mikasa killed Eren, not allowing her love to keep her bound, ending the titan curse.
Which is a stark contrast to Louise and Floch. They fell for the facade Eren presented them, unquestioning. Eren didn't give a shit about the "Eldian Empire." He used the Yeagarists for his own aim - an unoccupied outside world - ambivalent to their deaths. Eren preyed on their fear of annihilation, allowed their terror to fester and blossom into dehumanization, ultra-nationalism, and imperialist aims, all for him to use them as a tool to start the Rumbling, so he could "see that sight." Louise and Floch idolized Eren, whipped up into a fervor, unconscious to his true goal.
Eren himself recognized the humanity of the people living beyond the walls. He grew to understand differing perspectives, notably Reiner's. He cried to Ramzi, apologizing for what he knew he would do. Yet, he still did it. Empty without the "freedom" he sought, the look in Armin's eyes, an internal freedom he mistook as an external goal. Telling himself and others he was doing it for Eldia (despite trampling Eldians outside the walls), for his friends (despite not knowing if they'd live), anything to distract himself from his own selfish desire.
I do find Floch and Louise fascinating characters as a way to break down idolatry and how people can become radicalized into fascism. I actually find Floch quite entertaining, and I like that we get to see how he got to that place. And I like seeing how other characters (Mikasa, Jean, and Onyankopon) react to his takeover and his offer to join the Yeagarists. Louise and Floch almost serve to reflect alternative paths for Mikasa and Jean respectively, who they could've been if they gave into their worst traits - single-minded devotion for Mikasa, selfishness for Jean. Fascinating stuff all around
i feel like a lot of fandoms pride themselves on being gayer than the source material but have they considered being less racist and less misogynistic than the source material as well . could be revolutionary

Reblog this post :) Especially if you’re on mobile, you’ll lose the post if you click the link without thinking. Take a note from your elders before you
Interesting note: It definitely uses whoever you're following now, not at that date. Even the 2020 one includes a lot of people I was absolutely not following yet in Feb 2020, which is actually kind of cool, I can see what they were reblogging from this fandom before I got into it.
Eloise Bridgerton lives to dodge marriage another day god bless
your weird obsession with moral purity is degrading your critical thinking skills and poisoning your ability to empathize with other people btw
Also, it's making you really annoying.

“male loneliness epidemic” and “friendzoning” are similar concepts to me in that the conditions they describe are literally experienced by everyone at some point in their lives but when its men its some sort of profound injustice that needs to be rectified by checks notes giving them unfettered access to the public good that is Women
