Born in Algeria, Tiziri’s world changed when she lost her father at the mere age of five and was uprooted to Roswell with her mother.
In a desperate attempt to numb the pain she felt from her loss, her mother quickly became addicted to drugs, becoming neglectful of both herself and her child.
Tiziri had no option but to take care of herself, including defending herself, earning her first suspension for fighting at the young age of nine.
Fighting very quickly became a staple of Tiziri’s life, transforming from self defense to a way to make money, bets at local bars turning into illegal underground fights before she was eventually before offered a place in the UFC.
Tiziri disappeared from Roswell without a word at the age of twenty-three, pursuing a career that blossomed, even landing her in a few action films and making her a household name.
Seven months ago, she had on set incident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and put her out of almost everything so she quietly returned home.
biography;
TW: parental loss, addiction, child neglect, near death experience, traumatic brain injury.
Fatima Sadaoui had been the epitome of a woman destined to be a mother, something she only solidified in the spring of 1984 when she welcomed her first and only child into the world. The beginning years of Tiziri’s life were warm and beautiful, filled with family dinners and weekend adventures, hearing fantastical stories before she was tucked in at night by her parents. Yet, in an instant, things changed drastically for the Sadaoui family when a stroke took Tiziri’s father without warning. It was less than a month’s time before a whole new world had embraced the five year old; her father was gone, the only friends and surroundings she had ever known were replaced by the lonely chill of Roswell, their cozy family home exchanged for a trailer that seemed it could fall apart in an instant. It was an attempt at a better life, at the best life Fatima thought she could offer her daughter; but the weight of being an immigrant and a single mother whilst trying desperately to ignore the weight of the love she had lost turned her into a mere shell of the woman she had once been, the mother she had once been. The drugs that crept into her life kept her numb to the pain but also to everything around her, including her own daughter.
All at once, Tiziri was on her own in a world that offered her little; setting alarms for herself and her mother, finding her own clothes, making the trek to and from school, cleaning house, preparing meals and as time marched on - finding her own food and even the means to acquire it. But issues extended even beyond the door of their trailer, the criticism that came with her striking appearance and accent painfully clear even from a young age. It was something the once timid girl had tried to ignore, but when the statement of a teacher who hadn’t realized she was listening struck her ears, remarking on how a boy would simply fight it out, Tiziri clung to the words perhaps too tightly. The next time she was tormented, the girl retaliated with her fists, earning her first suspension for fighting at age nine. It was far from stopping there, however, and as the years progressed, so too did Tiziri’s skills for knowing how to not only throw a hit but take one. What had started as a defense mechanism turned into a way to make money; placing bets against unassuming men became illegal fights in nearby cities, quickly earning her the attention it took to progress into amateur fights before suddenly, she was signing to the MMA at only twenty-three. Within years, Tiziri Sadaoui became a known name, even to those not engrossed in the world. She held a number of records and for it, became first female fighter inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame and garnering enough attention to land a handful of movie roles. Acting had never been something that she considered, yet Tiziri couldn’t bring herself to turn down the opportunity for something new and exciting, the roles focusing on and allowing her exciting fight scenes and stunt work, something that would bring about an unexpected downfall.
Nearly seven months ago, during her most recent project, a stunt scene went terribly wrong. Unknown to Tiziri, while she lay concussed in her hospital bed, news outlets initially falsely reported that she had passed away due to the incident, a statement that was only corrected days after the fact. What was true, however, was that her injuries had been life threatening, the worst of which being a traumatic brain injury that left her in a minimally conscious state for nearly three weeks. Even once she was back to a more stable state, it was another six months before the hospital allowed her to leave, though only still with the guarantee that she would have daily check ins and rehabilitation at home. What no one expected was for Tiziri to silently buy a property in Roswell and return home, as without warning as she had done when she had left fifteen years prior. Her management was sure was a mistake, one to be blamed on unclear thinking, but the truth was that the world she was so desperate to conquer hadn’t provided her with an ounce of the happiness she had been seeking. In a strange way, the incident was a blessing, providing the perfect out from a world she had long ago grown bored of. So she’s returning to her roots, in search of peace and familiarity while she heals and perhaps, even the happiness she’s been seeking this whole time.
headcanons;
was definitely a babysitter around town for a bit, kids is her one soft spot and especially those on the south side, she was definitely looking out for those her age/younger than her when she could, helping with money or food or clothes. possibly even threw hands on someone’s parent at some point bc she’s got a little bit of mama bird syndrome. think like bee from the babysitter without the devil stuff.
she’s honestly just kind of a deeply unhappy person? it’s definitely due to unresolved personal issues/trauma but why would we talk about that? instead she just kept pushing herself in fighting and then in hollywood waiting for the moment that she was fulfilled but plot twist, it never actually came.
pretty damn closed off, like you pry don’t know about her past unless you were there for it and you pry never will. she tends to present outwardly very different than what is really going on internally. you definitely only ever get the tip of the iceberg, if that.
definitively had her farm house in roswell built like years ago because she was tempted to come back but it just sat for a while? maybe even let someone else live there briefly at some point so it was getting use out of it? but that’s also a secret she pry has no intentions of ever disclosing because why be open and vulnerable?
her career is inspired by ronda rousey? as far as how she did in fights and how well known she became and then moving on to do some movies, just nix the wwe part.
has had her horse aafra for the past thirteen years and that’s her baby/best friend honestly. if anything happened to her horse it’d devastate her far worse than anything happening to herself. like was definitely was harassing people about taking care of her horse while she was in and out of consciousness after her incident.
still has a long road of recovery ahead of her and is affected by a range of symptoms still; headaches, sensitivity to light and sound, fatigue, dizziness, confusion. it’s also unfortunately left an impact on her emotions, not only heightening anxiety but making her much more sensitive and emotional than those that knew her in the past would be used to/those who have seen her on tv would expect. it’s all things she’s working through/trying to improve so she may be very back and forth in her interactions.
wanted connections;
neighbor: maybe they get along or one of them annoys the other, maybe even someone who checks in on her be it with or against her wishes.
friendships: could be from any point in having grown up in roswell (5-23) or if they were in the world of hollywood, could have possibly known her from there? positive influence, negative influence, drinking buddy, smoking buddy, anything.
(fr)enemies: honestly give me someone tiziri didn’t fuck with back in the day but is now too tired to care? or someone who bullied her when they were younger but has tried to apologize either as they got older or just now that she’s back? honestly could make that second one extra spicy and throw in some ex(es)/intimacy after the fact???
ex(es)/intimate: one night stand, friends with benefits, hook up, flirtationship, boyfriend/girlfriend, someone she was engaged to? could be past or more present? could have ended civil or straight up disastrous. honestly up for anything here, we’d just have to flesh out details but like...*grabby hands*
literally anything: i am so open to any other ideas/thoughts anyone may have, please do not hesitate to hit me up with whatever you may be thinking.
