trigger warnings for divorce, parental death
tldr; child of a ballerina and a choreographer, she's trying to find a place to settle down and maybe start a career in investigative journalism rather than a travel columnist.
BIOGRAPHY:
Ever since she was a little girl, Amity's mother Yingyue wanted to be a ballerina and her father, Dennis, a famous choreographer. From the moment that the two of them were young, they both began dancing, training day and night in order to make it to the top. Yingyue grew up in England with her family and eventually moved to Paris in order to attend a school in France, which turned out to be the same school that Dennis was attending for choreography. The two quickly bonded and eventually married right before graduating college. Though their marriage didn't last long as Yingyue eventually got her break and Dennis was a bit jealous of her success where he was failing. They got divorced after three and a half years of marriage, but gained a child in the process. And although the two didn't work out romantically, they both remained friends.
At the age of three, Dennis got a job in New York City for a broadway show, where he moved Amity, leaving her mother in Paris as she'd just gotten a role in a ballet. NYC was a very different culture than he was used to and Dennis struggled with being a single father in a new city. Though it didn't take long for him to find his stride with a group of other single working parents. There he met the man that would become his second partner, giving Amity another sibling in the process, Macy. Amity spent much of her childhood going back and forth between her parents. Holidays that were important were celebrated as a family, despite her parents not being together.
From a young age, Amity had a love of travelling. She had always enjoyed the freedom of seeing other places and getting to move new places. When she was in Paris and was old enough to, she would travel around Europe with friends or even her sister and at fourteen started her own travel blog. It wasn't very popular at first, but by the time she was in college, it had really taken off. Amity knew that travelling was probably something she wanted to do as an adult, so in college she ended up getting her degree in communications.
Amity's college years were filled with the normal ups and downs of becoming an adult. She took her education seriously and gained an appreciation for the opportunities that she had as a young child. For the most part, Amity did her best to stay on the path that she had chosen for herself. College is where she had her first boyfriend, then girlfriend, and then learned that she didn't really fit in with the gender norms either. They expanded their world view and appreciation for other cultures.
After college, Amity travelled for a bit, working with some large magazines and wrote some articles for a couple of well known travel websites, mostly doing freelance work. They enjoyed their job, loving the idea that they never had to spend more than a little bit of time in each location, seeing new things all the time. That life did become exhausting and eventually she wanted to settle down somewhere.
Last year her mother passed away and Amity was left with quite a large amount of inheritance. She used that to buy a house in Roswell of all places, finding it neat and wanting to maybe use that as a way to get into some more heavy hitting investigative journalism. They don't know where to start though because... well, they don't really believe all the alien hype and where the town got this whole gimmick to begin with.

note: the triggers are pretty engrained in the bio, but not written explicitly. read with caution. for those who would prefer to not read, the tldr is above the cut and the last paragraph does contain some relevant information on how she ended up in roswell as well as the general perception of her.
tldr; a girl just trying to find her way after being isolated from society by her parents until she turned eighteen and ran away after finding their "doomsday" plan.
BIOGRAPHY:Â
Daniel Bright and Morgan Lee met in college where Daniel was studying to be a geneticist and Morgan was studying biology. The two only met because they both had a work ethic that was better than most of the other students at the college. They quickly found that they both liked to be in the labs at the same time and started hanging out outside of working on their own projects. Though they had few friends, it was no surprise to anyone that the two of them started dating and got married. Both of them landed jobs in their respective fields after graduating with PhDs. Not long after Cassidy was born and the family moved to a comfortable home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Three years after Cassidy came their son, Henry. Holland was a bit of an accident when both Cassidy was sixteen and Henry was just about to turn thirteen, but none the less an excitement to the family.
While Hollandâs childhood was particularly boring and not very interesting, she was mostly raised by her siblings. It wasnât until Holland turned eight that things began to change in her house. Although the Brights did their best to shelter their children from the news, the two older children were able to pick up on what was going on around them. Holland, being too young to understand, had no idea what her parents were scared of, which was fine enough for her parents. Hollandâs life mostly didnât change, but she noticed her parents pulling away from society more and more. Their city home home traded for a house in the country. Then things started disappearing: phones, television, radio. The books she had access to, changed to older book, written before her time with no events from the present. She didnât know any better, though her siblings did. When she turned thirteen, her brother left home and her parents became unhinged, opening up their home to other like minded people, creating a community behind closed doors, something dangerous.
Instead of going to school like a normal child, the Bright family previously homeschooled their children, then let their community teach them. The people in their community were well vetted individuals. Anything strange or unusual was reported on by other members and then the guilty party was forced to leave, or so Holland was told. If that was actually the case, she wasnât told otherwise. Since most media was banned from their house, so she learned to draw, learned to entertain herself with whatever her parents did allow in the house. Holland grew up hearing arguments between her older sister and her parents about how they were prisoners in their own home, yet they still had more freedoms to leave than Holland ever had. But it was the only thing sheâd ever known, so how could she complain?Â
Holland always felt like a bit of an outsider among her family members, though she never knew why. Her life was a constant state of not feeling like she could trust or talk to anyone. She grew into a kid surrounded by money, surrounded by people, but isolated and lonely to a point that she was sure other people didnât live like this. Years and years of asking her parents why they werenât allowed to leave the house and go into town and why they had to learn from tutors rather than school like some people. She never got an answer.
By the time she was fifteen, her siblings had moved out by then, it was only Holland and her parents. Cassidy did come home often, as she ended up in school not too far away, but Holland never heard from her brother. Holland was told there were monsters in the world. People capable of harming her with dangerous weapons, angry people that wanted her dead. Holland was told she was safe at home, safe behind closed doors and away from the general public. âWeâre doing everything we can to protect you from them,â her mom said, misty eyed. And who was Holland to distrust anything her mom said? âWe want to stop these monsters from hurting people,â her dad told her. Holland believed him. Her parents gave her more freedoms then, more books to read and information about the world around her, even if it was all a lie. Misinformation written by members of the community in order to show her what kinds of people there were in the world.Â
Holland believed them, until she was eighteen and found a locked door in the mansion and her parentsâ Doomsday plan. But what did that mean? How could the world really be that horrible? She didnât understand how just humans could be that terrible. And yet they had news stories about good things, new stories about their community and what people thought about them. Cult. Thatâs what this was. Horrified by this information, she stole a bunch of money from her parents, paid someone to forge documents with a new name, and moved out of the country. If she kept a low enough profile, her parents would never find her. After all, theyâd never found Henry.
She ended up in Roswell because Holland always loved the small town feel that she got. Holland likes knowing who most of her neighbors are. Ever since leaving home, she got really into music and more into art. Most people that know her, don't know about her past, thinking only that she was probably pretty sheltered. Holland can come off as a bit sarcastic and kind of guarded, but she means well. Â

joe keery he/him/cis man â watch out , NATHAN 'NATE' HACKETT has crash-landed into roswell !! they look thirty years old and celebrate their birthday on march fifteenth. they are from reno, nevada, reside in the GREYSTONE COMPLEX and are currently working as an attendant at the lunar laundromat. one thing you should know about them is back in reno, his parentsâ garage has his collection of comics and fan memorabilia â combined, theyâre worth over $500,000. â ( guppy, mst, she/her, 21 )
PINTEREST // SPOTIFY
HEY, EVERYONE ! my name is guppy (or leila, but you can call me either) and i am twenty-one. i am about to study abroad in australia, but for the current time being i am in mst (mountain standard timezone). i will be playing nate hackett, who is a lover of all things comic books and punk/grunge music. keep reading for a bit more about him and his past!
â* THE PAST / PRESENT
nate is the second youngest of five children (two older brothers â brian & james, one older sister â heather, and a younger sister â beth) and was born/raised in reno, nevada. his dad has retired but owned his own appliance repair business. nate's mother was an emergency room nurse, but she has also retired. his parents now both live in a retirement community in north carolina so they can visit the beaches in the summer season. his eldest sibling inherited the hackett home back in reno, where nate's comic and fan memorabilia collection is stored.
since there were five kids in the hackett house, it was always kind of a whirlwind. there were always birthdays happening, friends tromping through the house, holidays with extended family, and fights over room/toy/clothes sharing. the one thing that nate had to himself was his love of all things geeky.
none of his other siblings shared his interest in various comic books, card/tabletop games, and movies. he was free to explore those interests all on his own.
every week, nate would use his lunch money to buy new issues of comics being serialized. he would draw, at first, by tracing the panels in comics that he found the most intriguing. he branched off to drawing his own heroes and villains, writing storylines for them, and stapling together stacks of printer paper he had turning them into "comics."
the same store where he bought his comics in reno also held various tabletop gaming nights where nate met many friends who shared his interests.
nate got his first job as a sophomore in high school at the comic shop, it was where he spent most of his time anyways so he might as well get paid to be there.
when it came time to decide on after high school plans, nate's dad was urging him to take on the family trade of appliance repair. already, nate's two eldest siblings were working on the family business. one had gone to technical school to become an electrician and the other had done training in general appliance repair while apprenticing with nate's dad.
his third eldest sibling had disappointed nate's mom and dad by leaving nevada and going out of state to study communications. they wanted to be a journalist, not work for the family's appliance repair business.
nate was about to disappoint them just as much, he applied not only for technical schools but out-of-state colleges as well. the university of new mexico gave him a hefty scholarship, and the opportunity to study visual art, but to appease his parents he chose instead to go to central new mexico community college to study heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR).
he loved new mexico so much, though, that he made the decision not to return home after completing his associates. his parents were upset at his decision, but were still proud of the fact that he had chosen to pursue the family's trade with appliance repair. he made the move to roswell after living in albuquerque from the time he was 18 to the time he was 24. while in albuquerque he was working as an appliance repairman but he honestly hated having to constantly zip around from house to house everyday just to do his job. he made the decision that he wanted to work somewhere stable.
when he saw the lunar laundromat in roswell was hiring, he thought it was the perfect fit. he had the skills to fix the washers and dryers when they went down, but he was also could sit at the counter and read comic books during the downtime he had. he could also work on drawing his own comic.
currently his paycheck goes to four things: rent/bills, groceries, comics, and art supplies.
he still does some freelance repair work for extra cash on the side. but, you'll mainly find him at either the lunar landromat, forbidden planet, or at home.
personality wise: nate is real geeky, he appreciates a good pun and rarely takes anything seriously. he will gladly ramble on and on about anything and everything that is related to his favorite subjects (art, comics, magic: the gathering, pokemon cards, the star wars franchise, the warner bros monsterverse, and other weird old movies)
his favorite color is a red-orange, he frequently wears his red-orange windbreaker and a las vegas 51s baseball cap. he prefers dc to marvel, especially because his favorite series is swamp thing. he is most proud of the fact he owns swamp thing #1 with a 9.6 certified guaranty company (cgc) rating. this means it is in near mint condition and alone is worth approx. $1k. he also has a personalized autograph from len wein (the original writer of the series).
he frequently drives to comic cons in the western states (primarily CO, NM, AZ, NV, and CA). for his 18th birthday, his parents bought him VIP passes for san diego comic con which was like his dream come true.
â* POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS
since i know it can be difficult to find some connections off the bat here are some possible suggestions to get ideas flowing. i am also a fan of just starting threads and seeing where muse's chemistry goes.
D&D PARTY MEMBERS / we already know what a huge nerd nate is, but if your muse is also a nerd i am sure nate would love some party members for a d&d group in roswell. rather than an actual dining table, nate's apartment has a board game table. he just eats on his couch instead and uses the board game table for get togethers with the party. this doesn't have to be exclusive to D&D, but could extend to MTG and/or pokemon
FREQUENT FREELANCE CLIENT / is your muse prone to accidents? constantly blaming mercury in retrograde for their fridge breaking or their AC unit leaking? nate is happy to help, for a small price or a gift card to the forbidden planet so he can buy the latest issue of that one comic he's reading.
LAUNDROMAT PALS / since it takes at least forty-five minutes to get a small load of laundry washed and dried, nate is happy to entertain and talk to customers as they wait for their clothes to finish up. if you're real nice to him, he may even give you a detergent pod for free so you don't have to risk a couple of quarters at the janky dispenser.
EMERGENCY CONTACT / since nate's family is all out of state, it could be useful to have a ride-or-die who he can call at any time for anything. he definitely has broken a couple of fingers or slipped while jamming out too hard to the chats while in the shower. who you gonna call? nate's emergency contact!

home life/school life â” the older axel got the less he liked being called axel and preferred âaxeâ instead. things at home became harder as he became more of a rebel, much to his mothers dismay, he had a run in with the law once or twice. he almost got his mother arrested one day due to her pissing him off a bit too much that day, but ultimately he didnât. he left home to live with his friends/couch surfing when he was nineteen.  things in school were surprisingly good, though, because axe was actually very smart and often came out top of his class. he was easy to get along with and made friends with almost anyone. there were times he got into fights, suspended too, but ultimately he did end up passing in the top of his class.

andrew scott & he/him/cis man ⷠwatch out , patrick cromwell has crash-landed into roswell !! they look forty-six years old and celebrate their birthday on the twenty-first of october. they are from aurora, west virginia, reside in lunar crescent and are currently unemployed. one thing you should know about them is that patrick grew up on a farm and knows his way around all kinds of animals since heâs technically an experienced veterinarian. â·Â + patrick has two dogs, a samoyed called meadow and a black lab called jet
Patrick is a man whoâs used to keeping his head down, mostly because heâs done so all his life. He grew up in an environment that led him to keep to himself and pretend to be someone he's not for as long as he can remember. His overall demeanor is a little awkward and reserved, maybe even strange to some, but behind the fidgeting and pulled up shoulders hides a gentle soul that has been through a lot. He tries to always be friendly and forthcoming, even if heâs not someone who talks a lot, heâll go out of his way to hold a door or pick something up for someone before they can even lean down. Trust doesnât come easily to Patrick though and he tends to keep people at an armâs length in order to protect himself and others. He doesnât like sharing a lot about his life or identity either but thatâs mostly because heâs not used to being able to. Bearing secrets has become a habit he finds hard to shake but even the thickest and highest wall has to start chipping at some point.
The Biography.
Trigger Warnings: parental death, death of a spouse, grief, depression, implied alcoholism
Patrick grew up on a small, run-down farm in Aurora, West Virginia and was born into a family that had barely enough money to put food on the table
His upbringing was anything but gentle and while his mother tried her best to offer him protection and shelter for as long as she was able to, he had to at least try (or pretend) to adapt to a life full of hard work and barely any ways to develop a personality of his own
His father was hard on him and yet wanted the best for him which translates to: he mostly wanted to raise him to be the âmenâ he and his own father were
Patrick was anything but that though, always a little too tender and unable to do what was expected of him, either because he cared too much about the animals living with them on the farm or simply wasnât strong enough to work the way his father needed him to
He was always a bit of a dreamer instead, someone who liked to lay out in the sun to daydream of a life that was entirely different from the one he was leading
His love for animals was ultimately what would get him out of the small town
When his father passed when he was only eighteen, he had to promise his mother to do what he wanted to do for once and in turn, she sold the farm and moved into a small house in Aurora, while Patrick moved to Pennsylvania to start college with no money and more debt than he couldâve ever imagined BUT he pulled through
He got into veterinary medicine, working hard to get good grades, all while trying to make some money as a waiter at a local restaurant to keep a roof over his head
It was then when he met the man that'd be his first love and eventually became his husband, Matthew Cromwell.
They were polar opposites and yet, somehow completed each other. They moved in together and started to build a life together, getting married as soon as they were able to on a beautiful day in June, 2014 with Patrick taking on Matthew's name - an almost liberating moment for him.
But it'd only be a few years from then until tragedy struck.
Matthew loved the outdoors, while Patrick liked to stay in more, so it wasn't out of the ordinary for Matthew to take solo hiking trips without his husband in tow to unwind.
Patrick had a weird feeling about it from the start but ultimately let him go, a moment he regrets to this day.
Matthew died in what Patrick can only assume was a terrible accident that'd be the start of a series of traumatic events for the widower.
Since they couldn't retrieve Matthew's body and false accusations were quick to be made by both neighbors and Matthew's estranged family, Patrick was accused of having something to do with his husband's disappearance.
After a months long trial that'd drain Patrick emotionally and financially and left him with little to no time to properly work through his grief, he was suddenly all by himself and without an alibi.
Apparently, Matthew had a hefty life insurance that not even Patrick had known about until then, making him a suspect, considering it'd be paid out to him.
Ultimately, charges were dropped due to lack of evidence but Patrick was left shaken and a sum of money he wasn't exactly comfortable with.
The two of them had built a good life together after all, with Patrick working as a veterinarian and Matthew being a neurosurgeon but that didn't matter much to him now, not when he was stuck in that life without his best friend and partner to share it with.
Patrick's mother begged him to move back home and start working again after not being able to do so for over a year but Patrick insisted that he'd just need some more time to heal.
After trying his best to stay put and failing, he used the extra money along with their savings to get some space and moved into a house in a small town in Washington State, trying to settle into a new life but with no drive and his grief still weighing him down, Patrick didnât really see a point in trying to run away constantly. Instead, he decided to go back to his late husband's roots and moved to Matthew's hometown, using the insurance money he bought a house in a rather nice neighborhood called lunar crescent in hopes to feel closer to him again but also to start his own healing journey
That didnât work out though. With enough money to take a break, heâs not working right now and is currently stuck in a loop of sleeping most of the day and drinking too much with no real motivation to break the circle, all while trying to seem put together enough to pretend heâs doing absolutely fine.
His mother and few remaining friends tell him to finally start living again but even after close to five years without his husband, Patrick has been unable to do so.
He also still wears his wedding ring, which tends to lead to people asking questions about his spouse but he's learned to dodge them most of the time.
You can find his full bio here.
