childhood➵ he was born in a family that did not have much to their name, even less of a name to society, and he was the middle child of his siblings. before his dad passed, when axel was ten years old. he didn’t die or anything, he simply died to axel.  his dad did share his passion for music with his children before never returning from the buisness trip he took. axel was the one who picked it up most the knowledge and almost instantly fell in love with playing the guitar. he also fell in love with the idea of being in a band one day. axel grew up listening to a lot of 80s heavy metal/music and watching a lot of older movies. when his dad vanished, and his mother turned to drugs to numb her sadness, axe; ended up turning a bit more rebellious than anyone could have expected.

home life/school life ➵ the older axel got the less he liked being called axel and preferred “axe” instead. things at home became harder as he became more of a rebel, much to his mothers dismay, he had a run in with the law once or twice. he almost got his mother arrested one day due to her pissing him off a bit too much that day, but ultimately he didn’t. he left home to live with his friends/couch surfing when he was nineteen.  things in school were surprisingly good, though, because axe was actually very smart and often came out top of his class. he was easy to get along with and made friends with almost anyone. there were times he got into fights, suspended too, but ultimately he did end up passing in the top of his class.

dreams ➵ axe has always dreamed of two things; becoming a rockstar in a rockin’ band & becoming a forensic scientist and help solve crime cases. because of life neither one of those has been achieved just yet, but he continues to work on it! he now lives in roswell, new mexico while both working actively to seek out anyone wanting to join a band and as one of the managers at feel good records.

mateo cortez was born into a family that always seemed to have a lot of money, but up until he was older, he never did know why exactly that was. lucky for him, or unlucky depending on how you viewed it, he became the spark of his dad’s eye. anything he wanted his dad  would make sure he had it.

the older mateo got the more he began to see the world around him for what it really was…just a pretty picture. his father was one of the main bosses for a  latin cartel; the man was in charge of both transporting drugs and weapons to and from mexico.

he grew up with beautiful things around him, sure, but he also saw a lot of the bad things this world had to offer. he saw what happened to anyone who crossed his father,  he saw how his mother, despite loving his father dearly, felt more trapped than happy in the marriage she was in. it all taught him a lot of things, but most of all, it taught him that no matter what he always had to be true to his heart in the end.

he doesn’t really date much and if he does it’s mainly because he is forced by his parents to give things a chance with said person for whatever reason. he always tells people to take his public relationships with a grain of salt but people never listen and always assume he’s just either scared of commitment or easily swayed from his partners. truth was, he didn’t have the heart to accidentally tangle someone up in his mess of a life. 

he’s only ever had one ex that he’s held dear to his heart, but his father hated them. as a result he wasn’t able to make the relationship last, but it’s one he looks back on fondly. (wc soon to be posted)

he’s fun spirited, sarcastic for days, and loves dark colors. however, despite his love for the paranormal and creepy, christmas is his favorite holiday and halloween comes close second.

despite the fact that his father does expect mateo to fill his shoes after he passes, mateo tries to stay as far away from that life as he possibly can. he’s currently been a animal caretaker at puhlman’s ranch for about two years now and he doesn’t see himself wanting to really leave the position. he loves caring for the animals, helping them deliver their babies, tending to them when they are sick, and all he wants is to continue doing that for the rest of his days.

Reynard and Reba eloped right out of high school, cutting ties with their families and moving to Roswell so they could finally live out their school dreams of starting a family together. They spent years trying to have a child each time ending in tragedy. Just when it began to feel hopeless amongst the two, Phoenix was born. The doctors said Phoenix wouldn’t survive the first week. But they did and they survived another then another and another. Until an entire year had passed. Nix was their parents' blessing and they truly treated Nix as such.

Nix grew up spoiled, given everything they could ever want. It would be expected that they’d wind up rotten. But the Chaplin household was a kind household, a loving household dedicated to their community. With Reynard a firefighter dedicated to protecting those in his community and Reba a veterinarian hoping to bring joy to every home of Roswell. Together the two raised Nix to be just as loving with their community as they both were.

Nix was always a bit of an odd child. Like most children they were introduced to the fantastical at a young age with stories of fairies, dragons, goblins and the like. Unlike most children they never really lost their interest in the fantastical. Instead they kept believing that somewhere fairies had to exist, at some point dragons must have been real, all these fantasies they loved had to exist. The world couldn’t be as boring as it seemed. Their interest in the fantastical soon spread beyond fairies and goblins and dragons. Living in Roswell they were always surrounded by the alien culture that came from living so close to a famous crash landing site. When they were old enough to read on their own they began to read books on the extraterrestrial nonstop. Following reading of extraterrestrials soon came an interest in the paranormal, the unexplainable. It only fueled their belief that more was out there, more HAD to be out there.

They didn’t make many friends, having trouble understanding how socialization worked with others. Always feeling like everyone had a certain rule book for socializing that they didn’t have. That everyone else knew how to socialize while Nix simply did not. It didn’t help that they spoke mostly of the fantastical, aliens, fairies, horror and other oddities of life. However they did make a few friends and the few friends they made were lifelong one’s.

Including Nix’s best friend who they’ve known and been close with since middle school. Their friend never judged them or made fun of them for their odd interests, never cut them off from their long discussions of the whimsical. Likewise Nix was always there to listen to their friend to offer a helping hand whenever needed and share smiles with them for years to come. Over time something began changing in Nix. Their feelings for their friend deepened to more, a lot more. Feelings they don’t know if they want to share with their best friend.

Their life was happy for the most part, the town knew them and their family well. When tragedy struck, a fire that got out of control took Reynard from the Chaplin family when Nix was only fifteen. It didn’t tear the family apart, it pulled Reba and Nix closer if anything else. But it did shut Nix off from the rest of the town. The town that tried to support them during a difficult time. They greatly appreciated it and loved that their community wanted to be there for them. But at the same time they felt that they had to put on a brave face for the community, for their mother. The community who’d lost a hero and their mother who’d lost the love of her life. Meanwhile, burying the fact they’d lost their father.

Things became difficult for the Chaplin family after that. To keep from losing the house Reba took more shifts at work. While Nix began working at the Space Invader Arcade to help pay the bills. The two saw less of each other neither realizing how hard the other was taking the loss. Both trying to be strong for the other without ever actually talking to the other. Maybe if they’d talked more Nix would have seen how sick their mother was getting. 

They never found out about how sick their mom was until the hospitalization seven years later. Reba fell at work one day. Nix was called at work to come to the hospital. The doctor said their mother had a brain tumor, it would have been noticed sooner had she gone to a doctor. Instead blaming the symptoms from it on stress and powering through it. Nix began working more to pay for their mother’s hospital bills and to pay for their house. At the same time visiting their mother everyday spending more time at the hospital than at home. Five months later however, Reba was gone and Nix was alone.

Nix planned the funeral, called their estranged family, did everything to see their mother off. And in the end their uncle’s took them to court to fight their mother’s will. It wasn’t much but it was enough they wanted to fight for it. The hospital bills, the lawyers, the court case, it drained Nix of what little money they had left. In the end they even forfeited their mother’s will to their uncles just to stop the fighting.

They moved from their home to a trailer at Tripp’s. They wound up selling most everything that belonged to them and their parents. Trying to bury what they’d lost. Trying to act like it didn’t affect them, coming off as cold to their parents' loss. It didn’t help that they never wanted to talk about what happened either. Not even with their best friend or with the person they were dating. Like they just didn’t care about what happened. But they did. They just didn’t want the town bringing it up, hoping if they ignored it then the town would too.

Their silence lost them the love of their life though. The refusal to talk about what was happening or reach out, caused a rift between them and the person they loved. It didn’t kill their relationship entirely, they stayed friends. But the trust their lover had in them was lost.

It’s been three years since the loss and two years since the breakup. Life has returned to as normal as it can be for Nix. They adopted a pit bull who they named Ned, are still happily working at Space Invader’s Arcade and living out of their Trailer at Tripp’s. They try to remain as upbeat as ever, continuing their belief in magic. But still don’t talk about what happened, when it’s brought up they tend to brush it off. Claiming they’re okay that it’s in the past now. Yet it’s fairly obvious they’re not as okay about it as they say they are.

Nix is a ga(y)mer. They love video games but have been trying to get into roleplaying games like DnD recently.

BIO

roswell native, raised by her grandparents after her mom was arrested for armed robbery at a Walgreen's when she was 4.

growing up andi was a latchkey kid, but would get bored and wander around the neighborhood, and then further exploring downtown and things when she absolutely shouldn't have been.

her grandparents attempted to keep her a 'good kid' took her to church, took her to youth groups, all of which andi accepted happily as it was something to do, but didn't really buy into religion. she just liked to socialize.

got caught for shoplifting at a Sephora when she was like 14, and was immediately told to get her act together before she ended up like her mom.

she did, sort of, take that seriously and did stop shoplifting. however, she rebelled elsewhere, started going to parties, sneaking out at night and getting high with friends.

the first party at a rich kid's house she went to, she stole a necklace from the kid's parents' bedroom, and yes, she does still have it and still wears it every day. thank you very much.

it became a habit at any house she visited she's stolen at least one thing, and it's usually something super innocuous and weird, usually something no one would ever notice.

she graduated high school and immediately settled into slacker mode, taking a 'gap year' with no intention of actually going to college

she told her grandparents she was backpacking around europe for a month when she was 18, but was actually in san diego fucking around and getting high on a beach for a month straight

when her mom got out of jail, andi moved into a trailer in tripp's trailer park with her, their little attempt at bonding again.

andi does not have her shit together, and happily so. she is very friendly, and will talk to anyone who gives her the tiniest amount of attention, she just wants to hang out with everyone and have a chill fun time.

the middle of 3 kids to her parents. she walked that thin line between doing what she wanted (aka rebelling like her younger brother, and being the obedient/good daughter, like her older sister), and sort of felt alienated/squished into her family dynamics for a long time.

(/tw here for some homophobia) she is a lesbian and after years decided to come out to her family. it generally didn’t go well, but she and her sister grew a closer bond out of it. they were never close as kids but as adults they were able to share more and understand each other better.

she became a photographer eventually, despite her business degree, because she decided to do something for herself for once.

fast forwarding to make this intro more succinct, but her sister went missing after a year or so. 

eventually, sloane got up the courage to follow her through the mysterious circumstances, to try to find out what was going on for herself. partially just to be closer to the memory of someone she loved who she felt she had lots of regrets and missed opportunities with.

she’s been in roswell for like a year herself. seems no closer to finding out clues to what happened to her sister. she still puts up fliers, posts online, and hasn’t really given up. but she is jaded about it all and has no idea where to go from here. she’s close to burying the lead and all her reserves and just giving up.

she’s not really content with her life and her emotional state is a disaster.

she’s a low/sweet/soft spoken woman, but not shy or reserved about her thoughts or her opinions. now more than ever she wants to be an authentic person. whether that means pissing people off, living however she wants, doing crazy things, slowly devolving into a crazy conspiracy theorist or not.

very thoughtful, very artful, very cautious with her energy and her time. she’s emotionally walled off despite coming across as open. especially when it comes to romance. she plays a strong game like she’s interested, but she’s the quickest to ghost. very not interested in being the one who gets hurt or in losing someone else. in a way? afraid to love tbh.

BIOGRAPHY

Before the twins were born, Daniel and Rosine Isaacs had a nice normal life. They met in high school and dated all throughout high school. Daniel had always been big into military life, and after graduating high school, he joined the air force. He and Rosine got married after his basic training. For a while they traveled, but eventually Daniel got stationed in Roswell. A year later the twins were born. Basil is the younger of the two. 

Growing up, Daniel always wanted his two children to grow into his military legacy. He put a considerable amount of pressure on his son to be a sporty and outgoing kid, but it was clear that Basil was not going to grow into that boy. Although his father still continued to push that notion on him, even when Basil got old enough to be able to verbally dispute the ideas his father had for him.

For Basil, exploration came from reading. He wanted to see what was out there, sure, but the his love of adventure was mostly found in the books he read. Rosine read to him every night until he was old enough to read on his own. His library grew as he got older and there was hardly a book that Basil didn’t at least consider reading. The art of story-telling came pretty naturally too, as even at a young age he’d tell stories. 

Although his father was never a fan of Basil writing, he tolerated it because at least it usually kept his son out of trouble. There was a certain way that their family had to behave. Most of the time Basil did his best to stay on his best behavior, but there were times when he had to do something to see if it was possible for whatever story he was writing and his father always ended up getting angry and upset that Basil was causing trouble to write a story. Still, Basil never changed, assertive about who he was and what he wanted. 

He branched out a bit in high school, making some new friends and watching his sister thrive in her own interests. For Basil though, he still tended to stick with the same group of people all throughout his four years. 

He went off to college as close to home as he could manage and graduated in three years rather than four. Basil got a job as an assistant librarian and is working on his master’s degree on the side. His father was not entirely happy that Basil did choose to pick a career in library science even if Basil had been saying from a young age that’s where his interests were. 

TLDR: His father is a big military guy who is disappointed that his son is not the same, but Basil is bookish and prefers reading and writing.

BIOGRAPHY

They were raised by a single mother and her own family. For the most part, their life was as normal as could be until the age of five when Sofia decided they were interested in acting as well as dance. Thus their career began. Living in Los Angeles, it wasn’t unheard of that parents would take their children in to different studios for auditions and Sofia was much of the same. 

Although their career was slow to start, mostly background roles in television shows, eventually they stuck some bigger roles. Sofia became a regular on a popular children’s channel show until eventually they were given their own show and only gained in popularity. 

Family was always important to Sofia. Their mom, being a single mother, worked hard to keep them happy and for it Sofia has always been grateful. It took a village of people to raise them. And since their dad had never been in the picture, Sofia has never really been curious about him. For the most part their grandmother and barrage of aunts and uncles helped keep the family together and stepped up with Sofia’s mother was stressed.

Speaking of Sofia’s mother, she is a lawyer, so between dropping her kid off at auditions and rehearsals, she’s often tired. But Sofia never minded because getting to spend any time with their mom was important enough. Their relationship has always been a close one and Sofia’s mother is their number one supporter.

School was always been something that Sofia has tried to put an effort into. The subjects that they were interested in were all over the place, from maths to the arts. They were mostly taught by private tutors on set, but also eventually went to a private school as well as being raised in a Jewish household (meaning they got a Jewish education as well). 

Upon turning twenty, the network they signed with officially cancelled their show and for a while, Sofia was not sure what to do. They had contemplated looking for another job, but in the end did some traveling for a couple of months and then applied to a couple of colleges. 

Sofia ended up moving to Roswell and is a full time student online. They choose Roswell to get away from the bustle of city life and have always been interested in living in the desert. 

TLDR: former child star who moved to Roswell recently to get away from the bustle of Los Angeles and get a degree in Geology.
