My name is Dot (she/her) and this is my little corner of the internet where I scream into the void about the various pixel beloveds from video games! This is a much more organized sideblog to my main, @space-unicorn-dot, so that's where follows and likes will come from, and I generally operate reblogs on the queue system to share here interesting things from the games currently eating away at my brain!

Amidst that are some occasional fanfic written by yours truly, many of my own screenshots of my seemingly ever-growing list of ocs, and oc development rambles. Whatever games I'm playing and am in my feelings over are generally because of story-related reasons, and especially for characters! So, I love developing my blorbos and pondering their motivations - and wherever that leads them in their stories!

This blog does contain spoilers that I make an effort to tag when it refers to more recently released content. Primarily, those interests are Star Wars: The Old Republic related, but I am finally returned to Final Fantasy XIV. A general "spoilers" tag may be used to cover things broadly, but I'm most active in my SWTOR tag. SWTOR spoilers should be covered by both a general "swtor spoilers" tag and, if it's relevant to a recently released patch relevant to the post or queue date, "swtor [name of patch]" without the brackets and "swtor #.#" referring to the patch number. I'm trying to stay on top of tagging at least the expansion relevant to what I'm getting back to posting for FFXIV, but the previous general spoiler-tagging protocols may apply. If it's something I am originally posting, spoilers will generally be contained underneath a cut if it's a text-based post including a description prior to the cut of what it may be spoiling. If it's an image-based post, refer back to general spoiler tags and I will make an effort to tag anything relevant to the type of spoiler it may be.

Some other rotating interests are also contained within the blog, including a phase of Baldur's Gate 3 content, Dragon Age, and, most recently, Greedfall. My adventures in these worlds can be found in their relevant tags in the below "Tags of Note" section, if you're here for something specific!

If there is Imperial Agent posting in the SWTOR tag, please know that is essentially my summoning circle, lol. You may use your agent or questions about my own set of them to summon me Final Fantasy style.

26. Do they have any vices?

Nothing traditional, if you will. Of what immediately comes to mind of the addictive nature, Tyr's really only a social drinker at best - you'd have to work to get two or three into him in one sitting. He might share a cigarette with a friend if they offered, but more to pass the time in company. Exceptions being that it's things he's tolerated for the sake of covers over the years, of course, but that's more or less what it is - learned tolerance, rather than a preference. Unless it's rum or Kaasi brandy. He can make an exception for those, lol.

No, Tyr's true vices need a little bit more of a hard look to really find. Incredible skill in a lifelong career usually decently masks a more reckless streak that can exist - something with the righteous fire of a more "youthful" idealism one might say ill-suits one of his experience, let alone career choice. Somewhere tucked away in my mental landscape is at least once where Tyr has been accused of betraying anything he claimed to have worked for at least once, and... by a technicality, that isn't necessarily wholesale wrong, even if overall I'd call him loyal. It's just in a sense that it's... wonderful when he's loyal to you. And even if it is to you, Tyr's been shredding pieces of himself since his youth for that loyalty.

He's capable of acting in a way that borders on impetuous - leaping in and figuring it out while he's in the middle of running, if he deems it important enough. Few things in this universe have come close to buckling him hard enough he's really considered quitting, unable to find the strength to push back to his feet. It's... clearly kept him alive this long. But the debts have to come due somewhere. And Tyr, when you... really cut through the way he keeps pushing forward, is... He'd look at me incredulously for accusing him of this, but in a way one can really only describe it as a gambler constantly betting against the house.

But it's the only right thing to do when the house is so damned corrupt, isn't it?

10. What is their specialization class? Was there a reason they picked that discipline?

So, I play Savosta primarily on Rage spec Juggernaut, and a good 85% of the specs my characters are on are choices I made, lol, but. There is an element of what is fitting to them. I'll play nearly all of my characters on a direct damage spec simply because it's the easiest for my brain to pick up and get truckin' in player & companion solo PVE, which is nearly all I do unless I occasionally team up with a friend for shenanigans, lol.

But there is a but. In Savosta's case, at least, this is a pretty straightforward match to his own preference as well. I actually forgot until I was looking for this question that I apparently also picked up Sorcerer as his second combat style; I didn't look for the spec name on that one, but you can safely presume it was the direct damage based spec based on my style, lol.

Anyway, these two do have some grounding in Savosta's style and Force strength. Sorcerer is a nod to his raw power; I'd guess him to be the strongest in raw strength with the Force, and his early manifestations of this talent was in his early teens still in Chiss space, well before anyone had taught him lightsaber combat. So, that is what Sorcerer spec is a nod to, though I don't think I've really played him on this spec, because he largely is a duelist based on how Baras trained him to be an enforcer.

And this is where direct damage is more than a player preference, it's also how Savosta would fight. Savosta is not particularly a fan of cloak and dagger, nor much for a diplomatic conversation over days and days of negotiations. He was trained to be a force of nature, and that is how he presents himself. But I could never see him as a fighter with more than one blade. Simple. Straightforward. As functional as it needs to be. His style is unyielding and uncomplicated. What he lacks in height, he can usually more than compensate for with the raw strength in the Force he has to call upon lightning abilities and pushes or pulls of enemies or objects. A single blade leaves him a hand free to direct this focus, or put all of his energy into blade- and footwork.

And yes, occasionally he enjoys being underestimated for being shorter than nearly all of his peers in any given room. No, he does not wear heels to counter this frequently - if at all.

23. Do they like their role in their current situation? ei: if they are a Sith do they like being in the Sith order?

And this is the perfect question to springboard off of, because Fenyx never has been. Not with his tribe, nor with the Sith. I don't have all the specifics of the beats nailed down, but Fenyx is my bean who has been running from gender roles, societal roles... roles upon roles thrust upon him for as long as he can remember, only to find more impressions of who everyone else wanted.

I guessed/extrapolated on the... minimal baseline given of the fighting nature of the Rattataki and some of the imagery we see later on Umbara and figure Fenyx was born and expected to become something of a seer in the tribe - important to decisions on movement and resource-driven conflict between the tribes (and, of course, any other cause that might be given for going into conflict). It felt an ill-fitting role to him, not only for an aversion to being expected to shoulder so much pressure in landmark decisions, but for associated rituals and presentations. I the author shorthand that as Fenyx is trans, but how much he would use that kind of description of it all is... less clear to me. Because, unfortunately, his refusal of the expectations of family and tribe left him a social outcast, and an easy target for the slaving operations that fuel the Empire. And, eventually, the same ability his own people intended to rely upon became the direct interest of the Sith, and he was sent to Korriban to train as Sith (ultimately, the same ability that the ghosts of the Sith will train as Forcewalking).

And he met Darth Zash. Another woman obsessed with her own image, and her own goals for him. And it's not just Zash. The Sith are built on the bones and tombs of their dead - the historic and the failures. Zash saw a vessel for her next scheme. Khem Val is constantly drawing comparisons - though Khem ultimately draws less and less of Fenyx's frustrations. Because at least Khem was always rather blunt with the thought of killing him. In a sometimes bitter way, at least Khem was honest in a way the rest of the Sith would never be. Even Kallig, the deceased,

And no, he has not learned to enjoy it any more. It curls his lip and rolls his stomach still, what has become necessary for survival - merely survival, forget something pleasurable - to be tolerated. He's a little busy just trying to tolerate everyone else's barely tolerance of his existence. At this point, it's not necessarily the power that's exhausting. But one tires of finding the same disappointments in every new person you cannot help but meet.
