I talked to my sister for the first time in almost a year today. I want her to move in with me again but I'm worried our dad would take her away again.
I am so sorry you had a traumatic childhood and it made you stupid on line. I was raised as a lotus flower and I smell like vanilla all the time
I put your name on a beetle and let it die of thirst
I had a traumatic childhood and now I have pet beetles this feels targeted

A very accurate and timely twitter thread. š
My husbandās job primarily employs adult men but there is one (1) teenage girl and my husband said originally he worried she might be a bit of an outcast but instead every man on the crew was like āhuh guess I am a dad/older brother now.ā
She was in a car crash on the way to work one morning and called my husband to let him know sheād be late and he was like wtf guess Iām gonna be late too because Iām coming to pick you up and then he told his team and they were like I think you mean WE are coming.
Imagine you are a teenage girl probably rushing to get to work and you crash your probably new car and feel absolutely miserable and now youāll be late to work but then suddenly in the distance a car full of all the adult men you work with just pulls up and is likeĀ āwe came all the way here to pick you upā the mental image right now is fr.
Apparently she tried to call her dad but it was 3am and he was obviously sleeping so she called my husband and he not only came to find her but fished her glasses out of the hood of the car (sheād dropped them while looking inside), drove her to the hospital, and told her to take the day off. She insisted on coming back to work so he used his lunch break to watch TV with her to make sure she didnāt doze off (concussion risk).
Youāve heard of the Mom friend but my husband is very much the Dad friend. He said when he answered the phone she said āhey please donāt be madā and heās never felt such powerful Fatherhood energy in his life.
Bold of you to assume heās not well past that point.
[ID: a comment by tumblr user anxiety-plus that reads, āpowerful fatherhood energy your husband just unlocked a new part of his skill tree good job he can invest points in outdoor grilling and dad humorā /END ID]

Megamind the musical would slap though:Ā
The transition between kid Megamind and adult Megamind being the kid Megamind blowing up the school and adult Megamind emerging from the blue smoke in full villain costume, complete with manic laughterĀ
Roxanneās opening number being her trying to write a piece for the museum openingĀ āAn ocean inside a bigger oceanā¦āĀ
A reprise of the above song when sheās singing about Megamind and her confused feelings for him
Megamind and Roxanneās sad duet in the rainĀ āLove Someone Like You/Love Someone Like MeāĀ
BLACK MAMBAAAAAAAAAAAA
Halās evil rampage songĀ āUnder New Management.āĀ
Megamind and Minionās duet about their weird but special friendshipĀ
MetromanāsĀ āI have eyes that can seeā starting off silly but slowly transitioning into a sad ballad about how, unlike Megamind, heās never loved his assigned role and wants to be his own person, doing what he loves
āIām Badā being the closing number
How DARE you. How dare you present this thing, this thing that does not exist, that has never been, that will never be, and make me crave it with such an intensity that I am physically ANGRY at not having it right now.
⦠anyone⦠Anyone wanna try and make this? š

āIn 1984, when Ruth Coker Burks was 25 and a young mother living in Arkansas, she would often visit a hospital to care for a friend with cancer.
During one visit, Ruth noticed the nurses would draw straws, afraid to go into one room, its door sealed by a big red bag. She asked why and the nurses told her the patient had AIDS.
On a repeat visit, and seeing the big red bag on the door, Ruth decided to disregard the warnings and sneaked into the room.
In the bed was a skeletal young man, who told Ruth he wanted to see his mother before he died. She left the room and told the nurses, who said, āHoney, his motherās not coming. Heās been here six weeks. Nobodyās coming!ā
Ruth called his mother anyway, who refused to come visit her son, who she described as a āsinnerā and already dead to her, and that she wouldnāt even claim his body when he died.
āI went back in his room and when I walked in, he said, āOh, momma. I knew youād comeā, and then he lifted his hand. And what was I going to do? So I took his hand. I said, āIām here, honey. Iām hereā, Ruth later recounted.
Ruth pulled a chair to his bedside, talked to him
and held his hand until he died 13 hours later.
After finally finding a funeral home that would his body, and paying for the cremation out of her own savings, Ruth buried his ashes on her familyās large plot.
After this first encounter, Ruth cared for other patients. She would take them to appointments, obtain medications, apply for assistance, and even kept supplies of AIDS medications on hand, as some pharmacies would not carry them.
Ruthās work soon became well known in the city and she received financial assistance from gay bars, āThey would twirl up a drag show on Saturday night and hereād come the money. Thatās how weād buy medicine, thatās how weād pay rent. If it hadnāt been for the drag queens, I donāt know what we would have doneā, Ruth said.
Over the next 30 years, Ruth cared for over 1,000 people and buried more than 40 on her familyās plot most of whom were gay men whose families would not claim their ashes.
For this, Ruth has been nicknamed the āCemetery Angelā.āā by Ra-Ey Saley
Sheās 60 now, sheās still doing activist and advocacy work, and working on a memoir.
I really love how news outlets are using previous roles played by elliot instead of dead naming him to help people recognize who he is š„ŗ
if you call a nonbinary person cis bc they don't perform androgyny to a level you approve of i'm omw with a big hammer to shatter your kneecaps
This is incredibly important to remember. Nonbinary isnt just a middle ground or a third gender. Its not being in the binary. Thats it. That means something different to every nb person. So maybe someone does lean a bit more into their assigned gender at birth, theyāre still nonbinary and calling them cis just because they arent preforming for you is transphobic- Yes even if you are trans too.
some people canāt and some donāt want to. trans/non-binary people donāt owe you shit
its that time of year
the inherent shame of beginning⦠dont look at me while i learn
āthe inherent shame of beginningā
i admit, ādonāt look at me while i learnā hits hard⦠but why is that so? when i was 7 years old i sang along to songs i had yet to fully learn by bumbling through sounds that half-resembled what i thought i heard, at full volume.
at 6, i would practice ballet movesāin which i had no instructionāoutside the theater after a professional performance, in full view of the public.
at 5, i asked my teacher so many questions that she affectionately called me Bugābecause i was always bugging her with my endless inquiry. i loved the nickname.
at 14, i was afraid to practice a song in my own room with no one home because, āwhat if my voice cracks? what if i canāt hit that note?ā
at 15 i was afraid to dance in the garage with no one around becauseāi mean how embarrassing would it be to get the move wrong?
at 16, i forgo asking questions in class because god forbid i not understand.
what is this? āthe shame of beginningā, we say. but not inherent, never was it inherent. the child loves to begin! they love making the silly mistake. the world tells us the mistake is fatal, or worse, shameful. what a tragedy. the world strangles our joy of beginning and when weāre old enough we add our own hands to the neck.
but the truth is we begin everyday and we are wrong and weāre dumb and we make silly mistakes and at the end of it all we are still the brilliant learners weāve always been. there is no shame. itās alright. i donāt know how to properly express that i wish upon everyone whoās reblogged this post to realize the shame is in our hands wrapped around the neck. we can let go. allow the self-kindess of your heart to soothe the bruises.
learning is no secret burden. we do it together :)

A while ago, some people asked me to explain D&D and other RPGs⦠so of course I had to make it into an infographic!
This is by no means a comprehensive guide. The game can be as simple or complex as you want, but there ARE some pre-established basics you should know about - and those are best discovered on your own terms!
Some resources to help you get started:Ā
Watch/listen:
ā Rusty Quill Gaming PodcastĀ - a ttrpg game in the Pathfinder system. Beginner friendly! Learn how to play along with the players!
ā Ā Critical Role - a D&D game played by voice actors - Incredibly famous! Highly praised! Both videos and podcasts available.
ā Ā The Adventure Zone - a TTRPG podcast by the MdElroy brothers
Read/learn the rules:
š D&D 5e Playerās HandbookĀ - pdf
šĀ Basic Introduction to Character RacesĀ - website
šĀ Overview of Character Classes - website
How-to and Tutorials:
š² Rolling a character - YouTube video
š² How combat worksĀ - YouTube video
š² Being a good player - YouTube video
And last but not leastā¦
How To Play D&D Online! - YouTube Video
***
Of course, there are tons of other resources - endless writeups, dozens of YouTube videos and blogposts, and entire subreddits dedicated to this information. The important thing is to take things one at a time. Or not - just dive right in! Most seasoned D&D players are thrilled when others want to join them on their adventures and will be happy to help a new player find their tabletop legs.Ā
Iāve been trying to hook up some of my other friends on DnD and this is a perfect āfirst time is freeā sample! Thank you!
am convinced that dragons eat goldā¦ā¦they stockpile it bc they hibernate for centuries at a time, and occasionally need to wake up and eat a snackā¦..this changes everythingā¦..if you woke up and found a small invasive animal trying to steal from your grain pile, what would you do? itās probably riddled w/ diseasesā¦.you have to exterminate the pests so you donāt get an infestation. nothing to do with greed just common senseā¦.
okay honestly this turned out completely differently than how i expected and i kind of strayed away from the gold⦠anyway someone please add on because i cant write endings for shit
The village often got questions. āIsnāt that a bit dangerous?ā they would ask. āKeeping a dragon so close to your village?ā
āNo,ā the village would reply, and then shoo the visitor away.
The village had always protected the dragon. He was awake more than most dragons, so he ate much more, but the duty of feeding him and keeping safe and alive had always been the villageās. And in return, the dragon kept furnaces going and provided protection from animals that would usually be classified as threats, such as bears. They took one look at the him and drew back into the forest. No one would want to go against a dragon that size.
Except, of course, the knights.
The villagers tried their best to keep news about the dragon quiet. They didnt want any attention. But try as they might, word spread quickly of a village under a dragonās spell. The dragon eats them, the rumors said. It hoards their gold and eats their children! Its horrible, horrible!
So knights all over the kingdom took up their shield and sword and announced they would slay the terrible beast.
A crone took care of them. She was old, older than anyone knew, and fiercely protective of Keefalyuse. She chased away the knights, yelling obscenities and throwing rocks. So the village relaxed a little.
There was one knight that would not leave. He returned every couple of weeks. He would not stay away, even when the crone knocked him out. He did not believe the village when they tried to explain the situation. He wasnt convinced when the villagers showed him how friendly the dragon was.
But the knight was clever. He thought, If I slay the dragon at night, the villagers will be free come morning, and they will thank me graciously. They surely would let me keep the gold. So when the sun set and the last of the lanterns were blown out, he snuck into the dragonās cave.
Just as the fingers of the rosy dawn touched the sky, there was a shout. The knight was standing in the village square, bloody and triumphant. āVillagers!ā he announced. āThe dragon has been slayed! His throat has been slit and his body burns in the cave!ā
The silence was terrible. The villagers huddled around the mouth of the cave and mourned, the crackling of the body their only dirge.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS
