Hi. I saw that you mentioned you follow Thiestic Satanism in a recent post. I was wondering if you could explain what it is, like do you actually worship Satan? I know that Satanists don't actually sacrifice humans like everyone thinks they do, but what do you do in it? I also wanted to know if there is any rules or things that you're not allowed to do, like sins and stuff? I love learning about different beliefs and was just interested when I saw that my favorite moodboard creator was an open Satanist.
Hi! This is a great question and I actually love talking about my religion! I really love people who are so open to learning about other people's beliefs, even if it doesn't align with their own. I got exited and kinda went for it and gave a lot of information, so this is kind of a long post. If you have any more questions or if you want me to clarify anything, please let me know :)
So, there are multiple different types of Satanism. I wanna break down the main ones so you can truly understand the difference between them to help with the bigger picture.
Atheistic Satanism: Where Satanists do not believe in a literal Satan, God, or entity. They view Satan as a cultural symbol for free-will, empowerment, and skepticism.
Theistic Satanism (My belief): Where Satanists believe in Satan as a literal being or entity. Many Theistic Satanist traditions view Satan as a spiritual guide, rather than a being of evil.
Reactive Satanism: Basically where people view Satanism as a fascinating aesthetic. The biggest example of this is pop-culture Satanism, where you get the big stereotypes that Satanists sacrifice babies, kill animals, etc.
To answer your question, Satanism does not have any actual rules or guidelines that are set in place. Satanism is mainly based on individualism and throwing away the idea of sin, while embracing natural skepticism. The only thing similar to sin in Satanism are The Nine Satanic Sins, which are the things that followers are actively expected to avoid.
Stupidity: Considered the most severe sin.
Pretentiousness: Making empty boasts or claims.
Solipsism: Projecting your personal beliefs onto people who don't share them.
Self-deceit: Believing something that you know is false.
Herd Conformity: Following the crowd instead of thinking for yourself.
Lack of Perspective: Failing to look at the bigger picture.
Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies: Being tricked by old, harmful ideas because they are put into something new.
Counterproductive Pride: Letting ego blind you from reality or pause your personal success.
Lack of Aesthetics: Lacking an appreciation for balance, beauty, and physical harmony.
The Nine Satantic Statements:
Indulgence over abstinence.
Vital Existence over spiritual pipe dreams.
Undefiled wisdom over hypocritical self-deceit.
Kindness to those who deserve it.
Vengeance over turning the other cheek.
Responsibility to the responsible.
Man as just another animal.
Celebrating all so-called sins.
