there's like a tiktok thing rn where parents show off the quirky fun ways they're "punishing" their children around christmas time as if it's a cute seasonal diy and it's all genuinely so sick and concerning. a woman smugly painting and wrapping a rock in gift wrap to pull some revenge stunt on her 3(!!) year old for misbehaving the day before, a man throwing a (fake) present into the oven in front of his kindergarten kids, referring to them as "little fuckers" and recommending other parents do the same to really get them good. ideally if they still believe in santa. ending with a close up on their heartbroken sobbing little faces, on a maybe 8 year old girl burying her red face in her hands and turning away from the camera because she's old enough to be embarrassed about being recorded for mommy's clicks while she's crying but unable to do anything about it, on a little boy in 101 dalmatians pajamas pulling his knees to his chest and crying in such a way you can tell he's even trying to do it quietly. i don't want to go into detail on what kind of ghouls even watch this content. and the way it's exacerbated by the social media spectacle too- literally egging each other on to pull off the most click-worthy and unique prank channel style punishments, exposing private and embarrassing situations to a platform used by millions, all to lap up the validation and praise of the completely random strangers that you publicly humiliate your child for. if this demented shit teaches them anything it'll be a deep and personal appreciation for this meme
Remember the “prank” channel that would do this and were literally found guilty of child abuse? While the internet “rejected” the ink video that caused the investigation, all of their stuff prior to deleting their channel clearly showed signs of the abuse that got them in trouble. People were laughing for years.

pro-tip: a lot of the time, when an image off google is automatically saving as “.webp” or “.gifv” in order to stop you from using it, you can work around this con pretty easily. all u gotta do it right click and select “open image in a new tab”.
notice how this new tab’s url ends with “.gifv”? or some kind of code converting a normal image to a webp (ex: “.png?type=webp”)? literally just manually edit the url so it just ends at “.gif” or “.png”. delete the “v” or delete the code. then hit enter so the image reloads under this new url, and hit save. it should save correctly this time <3
This isn’t to stop you from using it. Not everything you don’t understand is a conspiracy against you. WebP is a specialised image format for the web which is intended to allow images to load faster while consuming less of your bandwidth. If you’re using any kind of internet plan with limited bandwidth .webp images are helping you consume less of it when you just wanna read a news article or look at a cat picture. As OP has discovered, it is super easy to convert this standardised format into other standardised image formats.
Similarly .gifv files are a way of using less of your bandwidth to load a GIF, because it’s actually a video under the hood. An animated GIF image has to store the entire image data for every single frame, which for longer animations is a lot of data, and it’s why GIF quality tends to get worse the longer they are due to the necessity to heavily compress each frame. Modern video formats, by contrast, don’t store the entire visual contents of each frame but just each frame’s differences from the previous frame, so you can get a much higher quality with the same or even less data than a GIF image- which again, is saving you bandwidth.
These formats exist to save you time and money. They make loading visual content on the internet a better experience. You would notice pretty fucking quickly if sites that you regularly visit stopped making these optimisations.
This would be a helpful post without the needless conspiracism and misinformation. Just keep that shit to yourself next time.

Alright, not to be the world’s most obnoxious asshole yet again, but I’m gonna do it because god knows no one else can be bothered.
This is a failure on the part of the social media manager. The article as you can clearly see in the headline of the link is not talkign about deodorants being fake. People ahve been trying to be less stinky for millenia and that’s not going to stop any time soon.
It’s talking about antiperspirants being a scam.
And that distinction is a big one.
Antiperspirants are Things Which Reduce Your Sweatiness. Not your stink, the water coming out of your skin.
Some people have conditions that cause excessive sweating, and those people definitely do still need antiperspirants (or, IDK, maybe not need?? But if they want them they should have them).
The problem is, the profusion of them has created a situation where wholly normal amounts of sweat are pathologized (treated as an illness that needs to be cured).
And, in a shocking twist that shocks no-one, this pathologization especially targets women (and non-white people of all genders, though the article is about women and not about race).
Which is what the article actually talks about.
The social media manager replaced the very specific term antiperspirant in their tweet with the related but not synonymous term “deodorant.”
Which fundamentally undercuts the article’s point, and opens the gate for people to make shit-head comments like “oh so you just think everyone should be stinky huh.”
It’s probably an honest mistake, although not one that anyone who read the article should be making.
But for fucks sakes, if you think women aren’t expected to be magically clean and pure in even the most hard labour situations, I’m going to have to point you to every piece of media over the last century that shows post-apocalyptic men covered in dirt and sweat, and post-apocalyptic women being clean shaven, with styled hair and makeup.
Women are allowed to sweat.
That’s the point of the article. That sweating is a normal human function that women also have.
Amazing how that was twisted into Feminists Want Us To Be Filthy And Smell Bad.
