Time Management
Started using the snooze tabby extension~ It’s been great for forcing me to not focus on media, proposals, or other work until specific times. Boomerang, Snooze Tabby, & StayFocusd have all been great for balancing about a million projects with my health & well being.
Boomerang is great for allowing me to accomplish tasks when I am most able to be productive while seeming like a human that exists at normal h u m a n hours
StayFocusd has been a mainstay for a while that I use only for facebook, as I use it for a lot of networking & news, both of which can be exhausting.
Over the next few weeks I’m going to be reorganizing my physical & virtual spaces as well as planning for the Fall.
I may try out RescueTime finally, both as an invoicing tool & for personal time management. I’m thinking I’ll want whatever tool I choose there to be all in one.
Decompressing after #O4UTech with some mixed media #wip #fuckitup im in nyc so hmu plsss

I am transitioning a big part of my final presentation of my Homing prototype for the scope of this semester to be a webpage, since it feels like a more simply parsed execution, since the norms of the web are a bit more easily broken than the norms of society or physical life.

Layout design for Manipulating Memory, which opens on Thursday as part of Creative Tech Week 2018~ https://www.eventbrite.com/e/manipulating-memory-tickets-44741732727
Building this piece was the most lovely part~
I can’t stress enough how much of a rad as gosh time it was setting up for Manipulating Memory with other ndntfd folx. The weather really was one of our biggest collaborators/conspirators that weekend. It was gorgeous tbh.
Made a galvanic skin sensor in a cloth bandage, since im the cutest little broken bot
My final semester I began to come to terms with my identity as a person who suffers from chronic pain. I used building weird sensors as a way to trick myself into wearing the things I needed for my health.
Now I use wraps on my hands to box, wrap up my feet to walk at least some of the time, started slowly filling my shoes with insoles, & I may soon get a cane.
I am an extremely strong fit person who relies heavily on my body for work.
These things are not contradictory, I am just learning my limits & how to take care of the machine.
This piece was later embedded in an installation I called Homing that was about my abstract idea of a Home built out of cobbled pieces.
That final semester & the months before I did far too much art without respect for the body building it.
What does compassionate infrastructure mean?
Video from my first curated gallery, Queering Reality, at WOW Cafe Theatre as part of Creative Tech Week
For this gallery Audie Maginley (shown above), Hyacinth Nil, Dave Torres, & Phoenix Lion built live interactive installation with code, unity, screens, projectors, mirrors, arduinos, lights, etc.
Trying to document our live installation play while building weird things with cool queers at my first #official curated gallery back at WOW Cafe Theatre in December 2016

Message back
Store the messages in the bones of the structure
5 towers 5 messages?
Ideas of messages to send back:
Prioritize healing/Be aware of yourself, your actions, & your feelings (with gsr wrap)
They do not care about us. Our bodies are their fodder. Directing labor for those who have no intention to reciprocate bleeds us dry. Build for those who build for you. Build for you.
We affect one another. We cannot act without effect. Embrace this, & try to skew toward healing those who are under attack &– when necessary–& it is often necessary–hurting those powers that aim to destroy us.
Learn to build all we need to survive. Those racist, queerphobic, xenophobic, ableist, classist powers will soon no longer even pretend to value our lives enough to provide us the ability to live. We must shrug them off our shoulders & exist without their systems. It was rarely their hands, but ours, that built these structures. We do not need those who seek to do us harm. We do not need to uphold the way things are as the way they must be nor as the way that is right.
Unlearn the hatred you were taught. You were raised on racism. You were raised to think queerness was wrong or not real. You were raised to blame the poor, the immigrant, the victim. Think critically about this, & do better. We can make it better. You can be better.
Find a place to say what this is:
This is Homing. This is one of the first spaces we built in our own image, when we had so little. This room came from 2037 when we of NDNTFD–The society born from those who fled The Official–began to see that we were no small few. We built this space to explore how we could build in our image, in our fractured many images. We are unidentified. We are a whole built out of individual, strong parts. This room is in many ways where we began this journey of building respect & autonomy into our spaces. We do not act as a monolith. We act as many parts that no longer wish to see the destruction of the other pieces. Explore where we began. We were where you are now once. We found a way to build a home out of displaced. We found Homing.
