Baby Lifter - DM Me W/ Tips

Alright guys, I’m no biggie lifter. I obviously haven’t pulled off $7,000 heists with the snap of my fingers ( and i seriously respect those who do ). But here are a few tips on how not to get watched for all my youngsters out there. These have all worked for me, but if you wanna debunk them or call bullshit then go ahead; I’m still learning.

Your Outfit- Okay, guys, I know that wearing all black and looking like you’re the grungiest skate kid that ever came out of Kurt Cobains’ ass is the look right now, but please, DO NOT TRY TO PULL OFF A HEIST LOOKING LIKE THIS.  As soon as you enter that S*phora the SA’s are gonna be up your ass. And I get it, it’s hard, looking like an edge lord is my aesthetic too, BUT DON’T FRET, THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO SELECT PLACES. Such places as H*t T*pic, V*ns, Z*mies, T*lly’s, or basically any store where this kind of style is the norm. However, for most stores, try to dress in light colored, cute clothes. If you’re a teenage girl, wearing clothes from f2I is a good idea, but try to focus on the less grungie colors. Like pink (the color not the store). For the love of god, wearing pink as a teenager makes the employees so chill. Who would think that girl in the pink romper would steal a bunch of n*ked p*lettes? Obviously this also doesn’t apply to super fancy stores like M*chael K*rs i and shit, but I’ve never lifted from those kinds of stores where dressing like a goddess is the norm. Either way unless you can really pull off looking like a SUPER rich kid or can somehow make yourself look older I wouldn’t recommend lifting from those kinds of stores, cause as soon as minors enter all the eyes go onto them.

Makeup- Make it match your outfit! Cute, innocent, soft, NUDE. Unless it goes with your aesthetic then don’t go too flashy so that EVERYBODY is gonna be looking at you. But if you’re going to Sephora or Ulta this rule doesn’t apply. When going to these places look like you know what you’re doing! Contour, Highlight, look like even though you’re a kid you invest your allowance in makeup. 

The act- When you enter, act like all the cameras are working and on you. Don’t look up at cameras ( if you just HAVE to then look with your eyes, not your face! ). Don’t look super shaky, don’t look around constantly, OR WANDER AROUND AIMLESSLY. Remember minors are watched more often than adults, so don’t act like a shoplifter. When you come in, know what you want, and act like you know what your doing! Look at decoy items, check the prices, put things in your shopping basket. When you get to what you really want don’t make a big deal about it. Make it look like any other item you picked up. If an employee asks if they can help you then say you’re just browsing or looking for a specific brand that you know they don’t carry, then they’ll leave you alone. However if employees won’t leave you alone or you see someone constantly following you as discretely as possible dump your shit and leave. It’s not worth your reputation to get caught. I know your first few lifts will make you terrified and nervous, and you may break some of these rules, but just breathe, chew gum, do whatever makes you calm down. 

Concealing- If youre 13 and lugging around a big ass purse then that’s super sus. Instead, use cheap yet still cute purses in colors that aren’t black because some stores are starting to catch on that most lifters use black bags (purses from ch*rming ch*rlies are pretty good!). Also, DONT CARRY AROUND A BACKPACK. THAT IS THE SUSSEST THING OF ALL TIME ESPECIALLY FOR MINORS. Personally, however, I don’t even use purses/bring them unless I’m getting a bunch of stuff! I conceal on person by stuffing everything in my pants, bra, etc., (not pockets though). So if they ask to check your bag, they won’t find anything PLUS you’re a minor so they aren’t gonna pat you down or make you take your clothes off. And if they do you can sue them for sexual harassment haha. This is just how I like to do it though, and it always works. When its cold out I wear a huge PINK sweatshirt with no hoodie or pockets. I’ve made off with over $300 worth of makeup just by shoving everything under it.

*¨`*•.¸¸.•*¨`*•🍒💖L U S H 💖🍒•*¨`*•.¸¸.•´*¨`* 1) Behavior: • Your behavior could potentially be your number one alibi. Presentation is everything. You will most likely want to do your hair and makeup, wear a cute outfit, look as innocent as possible. The sales associate will ask you what you’re looking for, let them know that you are familiar with lush products, and you know what you came in for.

•Behavior can be a dead giveaway. If you have shaky hands, a worried look on your face, you can’t stop looking behind your back, around the store, and you’re always holding the item you want to take, that is going to stick out to the SA. If you hold onto an avobath bath bomb for 20 minutes the SAs are going to notice if you don’t buy that bath bomb. Be as sneaky and fast as you can. Have steady hands. Don’t stand around waiting for an SA to disappear because chances are they won’t leave you alone.

•Don’t be loud. Don’t be sloppy. And try to avoid taking items to other sections of the store. Don’t fidget be calm. If you act strange or out of place when you’re nervous you shouldn’t be lifting!!!! I promise! Sometimes certain things aren’t meant for everyone.

2) Know your store: • Store size will be the ultimate dealbreaker. As unfortunate as this sounds if your store is tiny, you probably shouldn’t be lifting there. My lush has minimal cameras and lazy SA’s. Most of the time when I go into my lush all of the workers (all twoof them 😂) are just using hand massage bars or scrubs on each other and sampling their products. ^ I once waited at the counter to be checked out for almost 5 minutes. During this time I had my back to the SAs and on a whim (since I had been waiting forever to check out) I stuffed some items in my other bags. So easy when the SAs are lazy.

• Do your research!! Know your stores policy! Even googling your state + shoplifting laws can help you even the slightest bit. I know that my lush has a no chase policy, if they spot suspicious behavior they will customer service you to death. Just cooperate and calm. Don’t lead the SA to believe you feel unsettling.

3) Your purse: • I have a slouchy kind of boho hippie bag that I have used forever. I realized that’s what was a small giveaway in ulta. Walking in with an empty bag, and leaving with a full heavy bag. They knew what was going on. So now I have sleek and structured bag that works so much better. The outside of this bag looks square and fitted and the inside is basically a black hole to say the least.

• With a purse like this, at Lush you can stuff as many bath bombs in your bag as you need with your purse helping you stay discreet. You can also get away with this with a shopping bag. For example hollister has a structured dark bag. With this kind of bag on the crook of your arm and the lush shoppers bag on the crook of your arm (kind of hiding the first bag) you can slip things into your purse instead of the lush bag.

4) Actual tips: • Only conceal an item if you’re positive you’re not being watched. • Its absolutely much better to leave with nothing than to leave with getting caught. Don’t be greedy! Trust your instincts! • Go into Lush on a busier day but at times when the store is somewhat slow. ^ Remember if someone else is shopping most of the time they aren’t paying attention to you. They are too busy shopping! • My fav blind spot in lush is in the back by the foot scrubs. • Don’t spend too much time handling the item you plan on lifting: I brought attention to this once but it needs reiterated. This will give the LP or SA more time to see you with merchandise and more time for them to become suspicious of what you plan on doing with it. Don’t conceal in the same spot more than twice. Don’t go back to the bath bomb display more than twice. Don’t be greedy!!!!! Take your items and conceal as fast as you can! After you conceal in your shopping bag/ purse put any extra items you want back. Most of the SAs are extremely lazy. Grab your phone and pretend you are going to meet up with someone. “yeah I’m in lush. Do you wanna meet here? Yeah. I guess I am. Ok I’ll find you there” and leave. I always take a few of the bath bomb paper baggies and I go into a bathroom and I put the bath bombs in the bags. I always always leave the mall I hit lush. I don’t lift there often. Please make it look like you’re actually shopping you know? Open jars of lotion, smell bath bomb bombs, rub eyeshadow shades on your wrist. Look for prices.

Method 1: preparation!Does planning calm you? Then this should help.- Scope out your stores beforehand. Examine them online, check lîftblr for tips, look at tags and camera placement and how likely the SA are to talk to you. If you see stuff you like, make a mental note of where it is in the store so you can find it easier. This will help you get prepared.- Make a list of the stuff you want. Don’t deviate from it - impulse lifts are higher risk. This will give you the scope to plan your haul and reduce the risk of discovery by greed and overconfidence😲- Practice! You can set up your phone(s) to record in your room and pretend you’re lïfting. Try lïfting stuff from your room while using your phones are cams - it will help you develop your concealing skills! It’s ACTUAL roleplay.

Method 2 - calmingDoes overthinking scare you? Read on.- The day/night before a haul can be stressful, so indulge in things you know can calm you. Mine are relaxing rose-scented bubble baths, drawing while watching a movie, and listening to music while travelling on the bus! Do what you can to take your mind off of it.- Try to get your head out of the guilty zone. There are lïfters who forget completely that they’re lïfting up until the point they see something they like. Try to be like that - don’t have your mind constantly on lïfting, just imagine you’re shopping normally until the time comes for you to do your thing. Let me stress this is ONLY in-store - you should always scope and prepare beforehand.- Do comfort items such as music or certain trinkets calm you? Don’t be afraid to bring them along! Some lïfters feel better with their earphones in, and I have a friend who likes to bring an amethyst along every time she lïfts. Whatever makes you feels good.

This could also apply to SOs but I have no experience with that and don’t wish to overstep boundaries. 

Side note: I have a really lax mother, I’m an adult, several out of state/city friends, I have access to a car, but no job. Therefore, these ideas are more tailored for myself and you should take this post with a grain of salt.

This inspired by this post. I was actually talking with another lifter and we both were trying to dream up ways of getting things around our parents.

1. Don’t go lifting while you parent(s) would be home. When you leave but come back with nothing, this can often create some suspicion. They might ask questions like “well why did you go out if you weren’t going to get anything?”, “where were you?’, etc. If you have to go lifting while a parent is at home, try to have a cover story. Such as: You wanted something to eat and then ended up wandering around a shopping center for a while but didn’t see anything interesting. 

2. Slowly integrate new clothes/shoes/accessories into usage. If you start wearing brand new outfits every single day, it’ll probably seem weird. They’ll ask a lot of questions about where the clothes came from, especially if they’re name brand and therefore worth more. 

3. Garage sales/thrift stores/etc are your friends. I read somewhere before that talking about an interest in these things before actually getting caught with a new outfit and making it up would be more believable. I’m inclined to agree with that.

4. Do your own laundry. Granted, I have no idea who does their own laundry already and who doesn’t, but this is for those of you that don’t. By doing your own laundry, most parents are going to be inclined to feel you’re becoming more responsible by doing more chores and not just waiting till someone else was doing laundry and going “oh, hey, since you’re already washing clothes, can you wash this too?” This can also help with hiding “sexier” panties/lingerie that your parents wouldn’t approve of. Also would work for hiding name brand clothes.

5. If you have a friend that lives in another state/country/region/city/etc., you can do what I’ve been doing since before I lifted and say the item’s from an exchange/care package from a friend. Tbh I feel like this one is pretty self explanatory. 

6. I’m going to repeat something from the linked post, but mostly because I think it’s pretty much genius: Take things out of packages, take off tags, and dispose of said tags AWAY from your house. Then, make the clothes/makeup/whatever blend in with your room. If it looks like it’s always been there, then who’s to say it hasn’t? Also, you can take lifted makeup and put it straight in your makeup bag or whatever you use to store makeup. 

7. Make hidden storage compartments.  I’ve been doing this since I got my first vibrator at like…16 or whatever.  Random ideas you could try: -Behind canvas paintings (not technically a compartment) -Drawers with false bottoms (I suggest doing this when your parents ARE NOT home so they don’t see a bunch of craft supplies in your room) -This (Not that you’d HAVE to use popcorn/corn/food. You could use pearler beads from Michael’s Joann’s or even those pebbles that you put in fish tanks) -If you’re like me and take a lot of medications and keep them in a medication bag (or you could get a makeup bag to keep them in to “decultter” or for “the aesthetic”) then take an empty pill bottle and put whatever you need in there. -Tbh you can just google or go on Pinterest to try to find whatever you need.  -Also try to avoid obvious hiding places like shoe boxes, underwear/sock drawers.

8. If necessary, hide something at a friend’s house. I’ve been that friend for people. Sometimes it works depending on the item and their morals. Like if you have a friend that’s anti-weed, don’t give that friend weed.

9. If there’s an unused room in the house, make use of it. Just try to figure out when your parent(s) plans on cleaning and get your shift before she’s in there.

10.  If your parents aren’t the type to go through a backpack or purse, use one that isn’t in use and keep things in there. 

11. If your house is in shambles (like mine because we don’t clean often and have moved so often that so much is still in boxes) or have recently moved, make it seem like you “found” the item while unpacking/cleaning/etc.

You can get stuff from big stores. I like Michael’s, they have a whole bunch of surprising things. Lowe’s is good for all sorts of plant things. You can get candles and stuff like that from the Dollar Tree. Don’t break the lifter code!!

Dear Antis,

You say that all of us lifters are terrible people, but you dont know anything about us. The large majority of us lift because we can barely afford food, let alone new underwear when all of the ones we have are torn and stained.

Ive gotta say, it seems like most antis are men, and to those men I ask: have you ever had to pay $40 for ONE bra? Have you ever had to pay $10+ for ONE pair of underwear? No? Thats what I thought.

You argue that we should all “just get a job” but our economy is in the crapper and jobs are just getting harder and harder to find. Not to mention child labor laws prevent perfectly capable minors from seeking out legal employment. On top of that most of us come from poor families. In order to get a job you must first have a good interview. And any job thats gonna pay the bills is not gonna look at someone in hand me down tee shirt thats either too big or too small and hire them. So how should we deal with that situation if lifting clothing is selfish and greedy and unnecessary?

You see us lifting multiple makeup palettes and say that we’re “not doing it out of necessity” but what you dont see is us desperately trying to sell them so that we can pay our electricity bill on time.

Just because its not food or water doesnt mean its not necessary. And just because you come from a silver spoon family doesn’t mean that everyone can “just get a job” and magically be able to afford $40 bras and new shoes when our old ones have 3 different holes in them.
