I hate how with self harm, you can’t ever feel like you’re valid,

like, you’d think when you go deeper, you’re finally valid? But no, somehow your brain has convinced you it’s not enough

EVEN THOUGH any sort of sh is valid no matter how deep or shallow, if you’ve broken skin or not

I’ve seen people who’ve done it all the way down to muscle talk about how they aren’t valid, Ive personally seen my boyfriend mention that he didn’t feel like it was enough even though he has frankly the most beautiful scars I’ve ever seen

Especially on the internet, I believe completely that if you tell people they aren’t valid, you’re encouraging them to go deeper

anyways, even if you don’t break skin, every form is valid and I hate how I even personally don’t feel valid from my own

Someone will have deeper scars than me, and that’s okay, that won’t invalidate my own pain

i’m so tired of people acting like therapy is a magical cure-all holy shit. all these idiots always say the same thing “have you tried therapy?”

“that’s a weird trigger, have you tried therapy?”

“that’s a bad coping mechanism, have you tried therapy?”

“that’s not normal, have you tried therapy?”

THEY PROBABLY HAVE. therapy is the most default treatment to any mental problem, so yes they have probably tried therapy. going to therapy isn’t a damn cure. you don’t go in, talk to some lady with a notepad for 30 minutes, and then come out with all the solutions in the world and no more symptoms. it takes YEARS, it takes EFFORT, sometimes it even takes medication and other forms of treatment. SOMETIMES, and i know y’all hate to hear this, but sometimes, it doesn’t work at all. therapy isn’t a cure, it’s a step that some people choose to take. stop trying to force it on everyone, stop trying to act like it’s the end-all be-all of mental health, and stop shaming people who don’t do therapy.

just cause it’s what YOU needed, doesn’t mean it’s what EVERYONE needs.
