rough translation:
Panic! at the Disco, who made their first visit to Japan this spring for PUNKSPRING 2006 and turned the audience into one giant dance floor, are now making their official Japanese debut. Their debut album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, which has already become a long-selling hit overseas, will be reissued in Japan on January 17, 2007 by Warner Music Japan for ¥1,980. In addition to the album, this Japanese edition includes the previously unreleased live version of "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" as a bonus track. It also features three music videos, including "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off." It's a release packed with extras and well worth picking up. It's well known that Panic! at the Disco were discovered by Pete Wentz, bassist of Fall Out Boy (FOB), whose highly anticipated new album was scheduled for release the following February. Even from their sound alone, you can clearly hear Fall Out Boy's influence. But the younger band has also inherited another part of that DNA: their absurdly long song titles. Because of that, for this Japanese reissue, the song titles and album title aren't simply written in katakana (phonetic Japanese). Instead, they're translated into a mix of kanji, katakana, and hiragana. You can really see the creativity of Warner Japan's director in charge of the release—but let's leave that aside for now. What I personally love about this band is how much fun they clearly have. Like opening a toy box, every song and arrangement is overflowing with excitement and little surprises. Everywhere you look, you can feel their playful spirit. They genuinely enjoy making music, and that enthusiasm comes across directly through their recordings. Even their band name gives that impression. After all, they're from Las Vegas, America's entertainment capital, so putting on a show seems to come naturally to them. Their debut album has already sold more than one million copies in the United States and has been certified Platinum. It's probably only a matter of time before they're nominated for the 49th Grammy Awards in February next year. There's no doubt—they're coming. Keep your eyes on Panic! at the Disco.
