It's the death of night, the forest road empty except for you. As you take a wide turn the cars headlights catch a creature in the middle of the road. Its eyes seemingly locked on yours, shining in the light, unmoving.

You try to swerve out of the way, but you already know you're too late before the sound of the muffled hit echoes in the silence. With loud screeching you bring the car to a halt, staring through your windows in hope to see the poor animal stand back up. Seconds tick by. No movement.

You slowly reach for the door handle, putting the car on the hand break with your other. You step outside. It's colder than you thought it would be, particularly for this time of year.

There is nothing in front of the car, so you walk towards your trunk, as the creature must be hidden behind your back bumper, most likely dead. That poor animal.

Red fills the road when you get there, however no blood, only that of your tail lights.

No creature in sight.
