Rafayel has never considered himself a muse. Or at least, never a muse given the chance to be adored by the eyes of a lover. The kind of muse that consumes an artist and possesses them to paint, write, and sing. The kind of infatuation that clings onto an artist so tightly it suffocates them.
With a dejected sigh, you look over his features as you enter his space. The light breeze coming from his open window tugs at his loose shirt and there's a half-smirk slowly making its way on his lips. When he turns to look at you, with his moonlit hair swaying over his eyes, you wish that you could describe to him the way he looks in your world.
That his cheeky wink is nothing but a facade for a hardened over heart you wish to soften. That his hair is the color of elderberry wine, a flavor that matches his sweet yet bitter personality. Or how his eyes still have their doe-like curiosity; a hopeful glimmer in them for something you can’t quite place. The kind of eyes that harbor a hidden longing in them; an unachievable desire. The kind of eyes that twinkle and remind you of his carefree spirit that's meant to be unbound by laws (or fate). A resurfaced history of broken youth and of a hopeless lover. The eyes that catch a playful glint when he tilts his head just right. The eyes that remind you of an afternoon sun meeting pink clouds. A beautiful sunset that cannot be seen twice. And near his eyes are his beauty marks that you never fail to fawn over. The kisses left by a past lover he’ll never talk about. The soft curve of his nose that scrunches up when you tease him or catch him looking too intensely at a canvas. A canvas that reminds you of how detail-oriented he is. He's a perfectionist at heart, but deep down he's just a boy who tethers himself to his craft to keep him sane. An intentional stroke of a brush that allows you to see into his world for a moment.
How you wish to hold him in the palm of your hands and keep him in the comfort of your shared bed. So that maybe, just maybe, you can keep him for yourself. Away from the prying eyes of auction house staff and away from the troubles carried by the waves of memories that haunt him. And, if just for a moment, away from the crushing weight of being an artist. So that he may experience that he, too, can be as loved as a muse. To be treasured and seen. However, Rafayel is nothing if not an idealistic man. Give him some time to learn that the love you hold for him challenges that of an artist for their muse.
