1811. Returned to London after the death of his father, infamous rake Anthony âCrowleyâ, Duke of Morningstar, has three months to restore his tattered reputation and secure himself a proper match, on pain of having his title stripped from him.
Enter the irreproachable Lord Aziraphale, newly minted Viscount Eastgate, who would very much like to discourage his many suitors from lining outside his door in Mayfair so he can go back to enjoying his peaceful existence on the shelf.
After a chance meeting at a gentlemenâs club, it appears the two may lend each other a helping hand after all. While a fake engagement will not solve their problems once and for all, it should buy them enough time to put their respective affairs in order.
If only the ultimate goal of their Arrangement would remain as clear and unchanging as it shouldâŚ

Excerpt from Chapter 1 - âThe Angelâ:
Stormy grey eyes widened in surprise and then slowly roamed all over Crowleyâs face, moving even further south, along his waistcoat, his pantaloons, down to the blood red tassels of his Hessian boots.
Now, in polite company, such attention could only be described as rude. However, Crowley prided himself on being as far from polite company as one possibly could be and it was clear, at least judging by the unfocused intensity of the manâs expression, that he hadnât quite realised what he was doing.
Besides, Crowley liked to be ogled. Thrived on it. There was no other reason for wearing pantaloons that tight. In his experience, the more he could get people to concentrate on his appearance, the more successful his deceptions.
So he grinned and folded himself on the chair with the snake-like gracefulness heâd cultivated over the years.
âAm I more or less interesting than your book?â
The angel frowned and drew back, cheeks pinkening and eyes blinking in sudden awareness. âWhy, I neverââ
Crowley smirked and popped a roasted potato in his mouth. âDonât answer,â he said, mouth full. âThat was terribly forward of me. Rude, even.â
A wrinkle appeared between the angelâs eyebrows, something akin to recognition not so slowly dawning on him as he straightened his back. âAccording to what I have heard about you, I should not expect anything less.â
âOh, my fame precedes me, then.â He speared another potato as obnoxiously as he could.
âI am afraid it does, Your Grace,â the angel said, lips almost comically pursed in disapproval. âWhat are you doing at Angelâs?â
âSame thing you are, I wager.â
âSomehow I doubt it.â
Many thanks to @addledmongoose for choosing me at this year's @fandomtrumpshate and letting me play with these two for a good causeđ

I want to go on record and say I really love when fanfic writers self-promote. First of all, my dash is so chaotic that chances are I actually didnât see your fic the first time you posted about it. If you reblog it a few times at different times of day (or over multiple days!) Iâm much more likely to see it! Second of all, even if I did see your post the first time (or even if Iâve seen it multiple times!) if I was busy or not in the mood for that particular kind of fic at the moment, thereâs a good chance I havenât actually read it yet. So the more times you reblog it the more times you are reminding me that hey, I actually did want to read that at some point. It helps me! And I appreciate it! So please, keep self promoting and self-reblogging!
love your blog! iâve found so many good fics over the years. i was wondering if there were any text fics/ fics where texting plays a role? im not too picky otherwise!
We have #texting and #social media tags, so do check those out for lots of fics along these lines. Here are more to add...

Aziraphale and Crowley have been together for over one and a half years. And now they're going long distance. When you love your partner, that should be easy, right?

Aziraphale likes his tea hot, his routines quiet, and his flatmate reasonably sensible. Unfortunately, he lives with Crowley,a sunglasses-wearing menace who sings Queen in the shower, sets pastry on fire for fun, and keeps stealing his clothes.
Theyâre definitely not flirting. Definitely not falling in love. Just⌠mutually annoying. With benefits. Emotional ones. Probably.
Aziraphale: Also, you borrowed my scarf. Again.
Crowley: Needed it. It was cold.
Aziraphale: You own seventeen scarves.
Crowley: Yeah, but yours smells like you. đ

Crowley: Youâre blushing, arenât you?

After years of reading and commenting, I'm excited to play in this sandbox in a new way with my first foray into fic writing. (Tiny steps, but steps, nonetheless.) Thanks to @mimisempai for introducing me to the concept of microfics (50 words or less) and encouraging me to try it out! Check out the tempting set of prompts as well as Mimi's first two microfics here and here.
Prompt: Golden Hour

Aziraphale breathed in the scent of cocoa wafting from the bedside table and gently closed his book. Bending down, he pressed a kiss to Crowleyâs temple, lest the sky's rosy glow be the only lover permitted to bestow caresses. "Good morning, dearest," he murmured.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
posting a snip of the ancient rome voyeurism fic that i'm finally writing after sitting on the idea for literally over 2 years cause why not. any encouragement is extra appreciated rn as my writing journey has been tumultuous these past few months<3
There are going to be days (or weeks, or months) where you sit down to write and feel... disconnected. From your voice, from your characters, from your ideas. Like the person who used to write your stories just packed up and left.
They didn't. They're just tired. Here's how to keep writing anyway:
Lower the bar (Until it's on the floor)
You are not here to write something brilliant. You are here to write something. A paragraph. A sentence. A single line of dialogue. Movement matters way more than quality.
Write around the story
Don't force it. If you can't write the scene, try:
â A character ramble / journal entry
â A conversation that won't be included in the final draft
â A list of things the character would never admit out loud
â A messy summary of what should happen
Engage with the story from a different angle.
Borrow a voice until yours comes back
No, not with AI. Read something that feels close to what you want to write, or watch a scene that captures the tone, then write immediately after. Not to copy, to reignite your instincts.
Write the emotion, not the plot.
What is your character feeling in this moment? What are they afraid of? What do they want but won't say? What's being kept from them? The emotion leads, the plot catches up later.
Stop trying to "feel like a writer" first.
You don't write when you feel like a writer. You feel like a writer because you write.
You are still a writer, even on the days it feels distant. Especially then.
Reblogging for the writers who need to hear it, but also for the readers who have no idea how much work and courage it takes to write and post the stories they love to read.

anna_sun/Clo (she/her) is a prolific writer for the Good Omens fandom, having more than 40 works posted (and more to come). She started writing at an early age, but after a short break, the creativity was retriggered courtesy of two ethereal beings who graced our screens and never let go of Cloâs heart. Keep reading to learn more about what inspires all of Cloâs charming creations.
Clo shares a little bit about her life outside of Good Omens - plus she gives us some insight to her online handle (for those who may be curious):
âHello hello hello! My nameâs ChloĂŠ (or Clo) and I was born and raised in QuĂŠbec, Canada, which is where I still reside. Iâm currently renting a house with my best friend on the south shore of MontrĂŠal. But if my name's ChloĂŠ, why "anna_sun"? Well, Anna Sun by Walk the Moon was my favorite song at the time I made my AO3 account (in 2014. Yes, I was fifteen. No, we wonât talk about that). But âAnna Sunâ is a favorite in my playlist to this day.
I work at a college library (not a librarian, just plain admin support, lol) and I really love it. Iâm not sure what I want to do career-wise, but I might get my Masterâs in English Lit or Information Science in the near future. TBD.
My hobbies and interests have been closely related to fandom ever since I was a teen. AKA, a whole lot of reading and writing and shipping. Other than that, I mean⌠I taught myself how to ride a skateboard a few years ago, had a fall, twisted my ankle, and never picked up a skateboard again. That pretty much sums up who I am as a person. Iâm not very athletic or adventurous or anything, but I do love a nice hike or a short camping trip (emphasis on short, LOL).â
Glad you are OK after the fall! đ But super happy about all the fandom focus! 𼳠Which brings us to the next question - how exactly did Clo find out about our beloved ineffables?
âI think Prime just suggested it on my home page??? Itâs all a bit of a blur. I was looking for something to watch and thought âhuh, this looks like fun.â And INDEED, it was! I never even knew it existed before. It opened up a WHOLE new world. Even got me to start watching Doctor Who right after, because of course I immediately needed more DT in my life.
S2 had been out for a while already when I started watching, but I had no clue about the Final Fifteen. And I wrote my first fic for GO before I even finished my first watch, LOL. Can you imagine my fucking delight (and simultaneous heartbreak) when I realized they were PROPER canon? Ahhhhhhhhh!!
AND finding GO got me out of my 8-year hiatus. I hadnât written a (creative) thing in forever. Iâm very grateful for it.â
It is incredible how Good Omens (and of course, Mr. Tennant) brought the spark of creativity to many of its fans!! And Clo had a few other influences that fueled her imagination đ:
âHonestly, probably hormones LMAO, but also mainly âfor shits and giggles.â I was writing stories long before I started posting them online, just for me and some of my closest friends.
It wasnât always smut but Iâve been reading smut for a looooong time, so I eventually moved on to writing my own stuff. Write the smut you want to see in the world. You get it, wink wink. (For instance, I have one B99 fic where I literally say in my Authorâs Note: âI read all of the porn in the Jake/Amy tag and I wanted more so I decided to write some lmao.â)
But Iâve also written a few poetic-ish pieces Iâm very proud of. I swear Iâm not JUST a horndog. And, no matter what, there will ALWAYS be fluff. ALWAYS.â
Fluff is the stuff of life (and smut - we need that too đđ)Â On that note, Clo describes a few of her favorite writing tropes that she weaves into her stories:
âPorn with Feelings is an obvious one. Mostly itâs because I like to write about intimacy. I think thereâs a huge difference between a kink fic just for the sake of kink, and a smut fic that dives deep into the charactersâ thoughts/feelings. Both types serve their purpose, of course, but the latter is truly my personal favorite. Some of the best smut Iâve ever read has made me CRY because it was so beautifully intimate, and I love that.
I like humor, especially a slightly ridiculous premise that lends itself to a fun time for both me and my readers.
Not exactly Love at First Sight but I do LOVE a good fast pace, dizzying romance, especially for Human AUs. Getting Together fics that end with the blooming stage of the charactersâ love story.
As for big, overarching themes? Self love and self worth. Getting over insecurities. Honesty and communication. You wonât find a lot of misunderstandings causing conflicts in my workâeverything always gets resolved pretty quickly.â
Oooh those are all excellent themes! You can keep up with all of Cloâs works on AO3 - though you may find her lurking on a few other socials (links shared at the end of this post):
âIâm backsails on reddit, goannasun on tumblr, but Iâm not super active on either of these platforms. You wonât find anything more than whatâs on AO3, lol.â
When you visit Cloâs page, youâll find a plethora of works to enjoy. Our readers had this question:
â¨â¨What's your favorite thing you've written?
âStagger My Heart. 21k, E rated, Alternate Universe - Mythology.
Aziraphale is a pretty forest nymph. Crowley is a hunter who catches him bathing. Basically Strangers to Friends to Lovers.
This will always be the one that stands out for me. Itâs not my most popular, and it wasnât even betaâed so it would probably benefit from some editing, but it was a real labor of love. Maybe thatâs why itâs my favorite. I had such a clear vision of how I wanted the story to FEEL, and Iâm very happy with the result. Itâs beautiful, itâs emotional, itâs hot. Itâs got it all.â
Definitely check this one out!!! And of course, if there was ever ANY doubt about who Clo is obsessed with from the GO worldđđ âŚ
âI basically only have eyes for Aziraphale and Crowley. Sorry not sorry. But I have a good mix of AUs and Canon stuff, although I'm slowly starting to write more AUs than anything else.
When I include other pairings in my works, they are background more than anything. I do have a soft spot for Muriel/Eric but I donât think Iâd ever write it.â
Muriel and Eric are too adorable!! đĽ°Â And weâre sure you would do fine if you ever decide to write for them!! But of course, many of us do LOVE our Ineffable Duo. One of our followers wanted to understand more about Cloâs writing of their characters:
â¨â¨Across the range of your own fics, what do you feel are the core qualities to your Crowleys and Aziraphales that ensures them of feeling in-character in your works?
âThatâs such a great question!!
Aziraphale is always a bit of a bastard, because thatâs how I know and love him to be. He keeps Crowley on his toes. He often has underlying insecurities, but I like him to be overall confident. Heâs witty, a bit smug, but ultimately, heâs soft and kindhearted.
My Crowley is⌠often flustered, and always smitten with Aziraphale. I love him when heâs grumpy in a likeable way, but also when heâs a shameless flirt. Heâs the type to make a crass joke and bark a laugh, but also the type to say something incredibly fucking sweet out of the nowhere. Heâs a cuddler. Heâs a menace. And heâs hilarious.
But, honestly, itâs not always about who they are individually for me, but mainly about their dynamic. Thatâs what makes them recognizable. Their back-and-forth, their longing, their love.â
We LOVE how much love they have for each other!!! And Clo is not running short on ideas for them anytime soon. We asked her if she had any more works in progressâŚ
âooooooooooo boi, yes!
I mean, Iâm not the type to juggle multiple WIPs. I used to write, post, write, post⌠because all I wrote were one shots. Itâs when I started writing longer works, with chapters, that the WIPs really started to add up.
I currently have 3 big WIPs. Oneâs an angsty longfic (very unusual for me, and will take forever to write), oneâs a Childhood Friends to Lovers story, and the last one is an AU heavily inspired by Ella Enchanted.â
Ooooh! Ella Enchanted!! Can we see? Can we see? (thank you for sharing, Clo!!!!)
[Hereâs a] preview from my ELLA ENCHANTED AU, cause itâs the most fun:
âMy, my.â Aziraphale licked his lips, savouring the sight of Crowleyâs blush darkening the highest points of his cheeks. The blush could have meant a few different things, but the evening had been so pleasant so far, so filled with good conversation and laughter, the energy between them so magnetic, that Aziraphale felt bolder than usual. âI didnât think the prince could be so easily flustered.â
[...]
âFlustered? Me? Mânot flustered.â Crowley said, only stuttering a little. âIâm justâŚâ
âDistracted. Right.â Aziraphale giggled, shaking his head in amusement. âAnd tired as well, I suppose?â
âYep. Bit drunk, too. So that explains that, doesnât it?â
âMmh. Of course.â
How strangely entertaining, to blatantly lie to one another and pretend to accept these lies as truths. How bizarrely exciting, to flirt between the lines of what is being said, knowing that what mattered werenât the words themselves but the way they were said. Crowley asserting that he was not flustered was the last thing he shouldâve said if he wanted Aziraphale to believe him. And Aziraphale saying of course with a proud, cheeky smile was the best way to react if he wanted to make sure Crowley knew he did not, in fact, believe him.
âRight, well, sâprâbly time for bed, huh?â Crowley grumbled after a while of silence, wobbly on his legs when he stood up. It made Aziraphale jump up to help him find his balance, holding him by the shoulders in a steadying grip. He tried not to let his thumb wander with a mind of his own, he really didâhe tried hard not to seek the soft skin visible above Crowleyâs collarboneâbut before he knew it he was making contact, and his heart promptly skipped a few beats.
The earth might also have stopped spinning, or maybe time itself came to a haltâas if the entire universe was holding its breath, waiting to see what was going to happen now.
But nothing happened. Nothing except for shy smiles, panicked blinking, and a few stifled, measured breaths.â
*swoon* This sounds sooo good!! đ With all these stories that Clo shares, are there any other hidden talents that she gives back to the fandom?
âNope, Iâm a certified one trick pony. I do get ideas for fanvids sometimes but never bother trying to execute them. They just play randomly in my head when Iâm listening to music.â
Itâs so very true as many (or all) of us know - EVERY SONG we hear now is about them!!!! Thatâs all a part of becoming ineffably obsessed! But as much as we hyperfixate on GO, inquiring minds are curious if there are other fandoms that Clo might be interested in:
âAt the moment? Not really. Iâm fully focused on GO.
But the last fandom I was REALLY into was Black Sails. I canât recommend that show enough. It doesnât have the whimsical aspects of GO, but as far as queer love stories go, it takes the cake for me (and yes, CANON queer characterS, PLURAL). 4 seasons of great writing and many, many, many characters to root for. Good balance of plot elements, of twists, of romance, and of character growth. Itâs so good! In fact Iâm thinking of rewatching it soon.â
Black Sails is right up any pirate-lovers street!!Â
As we wrap up this lovely interview with Clo, she leaves us with some phenomenal and helpful words for all those who might give in to the temptation and have a go at writing their own talesđ¤ :
âThe obvious: Keep writing. And write the things you want to read. Do it for FUN. Itâs hard not to care about stats but itâs useless to focus on them. If youâre not having fun, whatâs the point?
For aspiring authors: Start small. Come up with a simple premise, one setting, one scene. A conversation, a confession, a first kiss, whatever. Find the details you want to focus on as you imagine the scene unfolding. Make it neat. And donât forget to be proud of it.
I also think fanfics are such a great starting point for authors. The characters are there, the dynamic is established. You can easily pick a scene from canon and build on it. I wrote my first GO fic immediately after watching that âshades of greyâ conversation in S2. I had ideas for how the scene couldâve gone and they simply demanded to be written!
Finally, for anyone: Be open to finding inspiration anywhere. My ideas usually come to me in the form of a single line of dialogue, or a random line of prose. âNo Food in the Libraryâ is literally a poster on the wall where I work. I started writing âA Time and a Placeâ with a single thought in mind: Crowley wanks in the back office of the bookshop because heâs sexually frustrated⌠and everything else flowed from there. âExperiments in Kissingâ was inspired by my own experiences, and mostly because I thought: Wouldnât it be fun for them to start making out whenever theyâre bored, just because? These three fics are some of my favorite fics Iâve ever written. They did not require ten hours of brainstorming and outlining. I was just having pure, honest fun.â
Clo, itâs been so much fun hosting you this week!! Thank you for all your works and all the love you give back to this wonderful fandom!! You are a treasure âşď¸â¤ď¸
âIâm very grateful for the opportunity to YAP about myself/my works <3 Thank you!â

reblog this with an underrated go fic (less than 10k hits perhaps). could be by you or someone else!
Well said. Damn, all my fics are under 10K. But I'd love to shout out a beautifully written and creative fic that people are absolutely sleeping on. It's Marginalia: The Nice and Accurate Story of Agnes Nutter by @dbacklot99. The background of Agnes Nutter is a lovely story and well worth a read. - https://archiveofourown.org/works/69193051/chapters/179346091
I definitely feel seen here. None of mine have even close to 10K hits. I want to recommend a story called "So The Story Goes..." by @PrincessOfHouseNightstar. It's a story inspired by Alice in Wonderland, and it's very good. It's very well written, with Good Omens characters replacing Alice in Wonderland ones.
Hi! Just discovered this and it's so sweet of all of you to run this blog! I'm a sucker for truth serum/spell fics where one or both (of A/C) have to resist the urge to give in and just spill all of their feelings. I've read the lovely cyankelpie's Thou Shall Not Lie & others with a similar vibe, but I'm trying to find more niche ones. Wondering if you know of any? Thanks!
Hello. Here are some fics to add to our #truth serum and #truth spell tags...
Synchronized by EdosianOrchids901 (T)
âAziraphale. What did you do?â
Aziraphaleâs expression wrenched with something. Pain, maybe. And then he blurted, âI read a spell from the book aloud because I was curious, and I think it was a real truth spell, and now I canât lie.â
Nothing but the truth by UnproblematicMe (T)
It is around 8 pm. Anathema is at Crowleyâs door, supporting a dopey-grinning Aziraphale.
True Love by AppleSeeds (T)
His love for Aziraphale, the apothecary's son, is Prince Crowley's most closely-guarded secret, but keeping his mouth shut under the influence of a truth serum might prove to be more than he can manage.
And Nothing But the Truth by 29Pieces (G)
Gabriel wants answers about how Aziraphale survived the hellfire. He's determined to get the truth, by any means necessary, and a truth serum seems just the thing. He's about to get way, way more than he bargained for... A story as told by the Bookshop and the Bentley.
A Midsummer Afternoon's Curse by cyankelpie (G)
(Aziraphale is the victim of a love spell, and needs Crowleyâs help to break it. Which is a problem, because itâs very difficult for Crowley to focus while Aziraphale lavishes him with affection.)
The rest of the sentence got knocked out of him by a large, off-white blur that flew out of the door and tackled him. âCrowley,â said a familiar voice, though the breathy fondness and affection in said voice was anything but familiar. âI knew youâd come.â
Oh. It was Crowley. Crowley was the target of Aziraphaleâs magical infatuation. Aziraphale wanted Crowleyâs help ridding him of this newfound affection for Crowley.
And Crowley, who somehow needed to be the level-headed one in this situation, was utterly fucked.
Sigh No More by KitschyKit (E)
âAziraphale?â He prompted as he fiddled with the seal of the bottle, tugging at the stubborn cork. His sharp fangs came down to worry at his bottom lip. âYour idea?â
âIâll get to it in a minute.â Aziraphale looked practically disheveled, and beautiful, and despite everything that happened, he looked perfectly, utterly, calm. âI was hoping to talk about us.â
The cork gave, and Crowley hit himself in the face.
Crowleyâs venom is a truth serum, one he has used on himself for centuries, dosing himself in private to admit to his own carefully buried feelingsâ but accidents happen, and Crowley bites himself the night after the Apocalypse.
There are a thousand and one ways to say I love you, and consent is a part of every single one.
Of Truths And Other Absurd Notions by WaitingToBeBroken (M)
Crowley is hit with a curse that makes it very deadly not to Tell the Truth. Which, considering the fact he is a demon and has been hiding a particular secret from a particular angel for 6 thousand years, is not ideal.
The way Aziraphale is fretting over him and touching him is really not helping.
The Whole Truth by Aethelflaed (G)
London, 1999
An ancient, mysterious tome bearing a powerful curse arrives in AZ Fell's - and Aziraphale is tasked with finding out why the demons want it so much.
But his strange behavior quickly suggests that the curse is affecting him, too.
And what is the secret that Crowley keeps for twenty years?

I only started reading and writing fanfiction after S2, and my first fic was partly an attempt to get back into writing after being out of it for over 10 years and partly a fix-it for S2.
But while I'm very proud of the two novels and one short story I wrote in my Sinners and Saints in Soho series, I'm going to post about the other two stories.
That Isn't Supposed To Happen (Rated T; 128K)
This is my reverse omens, and also probably my absolute favorite version of Aziraphale. I know a lot of people don't like to see a demon Aziraphale and an angel Crowley, but I really worked hard to capture the essence of their personalities while still keeping to their book/S1 natures.
Azira is outwardly confident and a right bastard who loves books and good food and also happens to be the world's best pickpocket (thousands of years of practice will do that) but he's terrified of losing Crowley's friendship.
Crowley is still snarky and wears black and drives his black Bentley too fast and has little tolerance for mean people, but he doesn't yell at his plants, and his inherent kindness doesn't have to be hidden.
And other than brief uses of Furfur and Muriel, there are no references to S2.
Excerpt:
The third woman of the entourage was still near me watching her friend interact with Mrs. Dorn. Her watchful stance reminded me of being a lady-in-waiting in various courts over the centuries. I turned to her, pasting on a smile, and held my hand out. "How do you do? I'm Azira."
"Audrey Faulkner," she droned, not even bothering to look at me or my outstretched hand.
After a moment, I lowered my arm and clasped my fingers together. I could feel what Crowley liked to call my "bastard streak" rearing its head. Sometimes the temptation to cause a little mischief was too good to resist. "Are you here for the sale, too?" I asked. "I heard Mr. Dorn was an avid collector of Zhukovsky. I'm hoping to add a few of his books to my collection."
"That's nice, Ezra," she said, still not giving me any attention.
"Oh, no, notâit's Azira," I said, wringing my hands and ducking my head. My performance was wasted on this woman, but I liked to amuse myself. "Have you ever read any Zhukovsky? I find some of his earlier works to be a little on the tedious side myself, but I do hate having an incomplete collection. Naturally, it's best in the original Russian, but I don't actually expect to find that. Of course, his translations of other works are often considered far superior to many of the originals, though I don't know if I'd be willing to say that about Byron's works. Did you know heâByron, I mean, not Zhukovskyâonce claimed that heâand by that I mean Zhukovsky..."
I continued the one-sided conversation for another ten minutes, rarely pausing for breath, and watched with barely concealed glee at her slowly growing panic when she realized she might be stuck listening to me until the sun exploded.
My actual record was just over two hours before the human decided to fake a heart attack to get me to stop talking. The Enlightenment era's overemphasis on politeness provided me with so many hours of entertainment.

My Heart Was Always Yours (Rated M; 143K)
This one was inspired by an incomplete work by TheOldAquarian called Lest They Be Flatmates in Disguise, in which neither realizes the other is an angel/demon while sharing a flat.
It gave me the idea of a fake marriage story in which Aziraphale immediately decides to betray Heaven when Supreme Archangel Uriel (in this story, Gabe & Beez already decided to run away together; it's the only reference to S2 I use) orders Aziraphale to hunt down Raphael's trumpet to start the Second Coming. Aziraphale needs a fake human husband to get into the black market auction where it's being sold. Enter the handsome red-haired plant shop owner down the street.
At the same time Aziraphale is getting orders from Uriel, the demon prince Belial (who's the Fallen Raphael) wants Crowley to find the trumpet. Neither Aziraphale nor Crowley have ever met before and both think the other is human. Cue shenanigans as they try to keep their respective natures from each other.
This one alternates between Aziraphale and Crowley's POVs.
Excerpt (Crowley's POV)
My first instinct was to tear [the envelope] up, pretend I never saw it. Of course, if it was that easy to ignore a summons from Hell, I would have been doing it since the first moment I slithered up to Earth. So I slipped a nail under the seal and sliced open the envelope, closing my eyes against the nauseating sensation of being pulled down to Hell. The feeling was akin to one of those carnival rides that uses centrifugal force to keep the occupants pressed to the walls.
When I opened my eyes again, I was in a large, lavishly-decorated room that held just the precise amount of wrong to remind the occupants that they were in Hell.
A gold throne in the center stood upon a marble dais carved with reliefs of tortured souls writhing in agony. Candles guttered in sconces, but they were few and far between and served more to create unsettling shadows than to provide light. Around the edges of the room were tapestries, each depicting acts of torture so revolting all but the most hardened of demons could look at them. I kept my gaze firmly turned away and instead focused on the figure sitting upright on the throne, their molten red eyes scowling at me from beneath a mop of hair, the color of which would be best described as diseased mucus.
I gripped my hands behind my back to hide their shaking and bent at the waist. âMy lord prince, Belial. To what do I owe this honor?â
The Prince of Wrath rested their elbows on their knees. They wore a gold-embroidered blue robe that might have been nice at some point in the past, but was now stiff with reddish-brown stains of indeterminate origin. âYou are Crowley, the permanent liaison to Earth, are you not?â
I straightened. âI am, my lord prince.â As if they didnât already know the answer to that.
âI want my trumpet back.â
We stared at each other, both of us waiting for the other to speak. When the demon prince didnât seem inclined to continue, I hesitantly said, âI donât have a trumpet, my lord prince. I do have a guitar, but I bought that from Brian May. I donât think itâs yours, but if you want it, I'll retrieve it for you.â I didn't want to lose my guitar, which all the band members had signed, but losing it was better than having my skin peeled from my body, Belial's favorite type of torture.
GO Fan Fiction Friday (29 May 2026) - Reading Dirty Books
Some fic writers like writing smut. And some fic writers like writing our favorite characters reading (and writing) smut. This week, let's look at stories in which our pair read (and write) dirty books.
We'll start with The Angel Line (E) by @fancytrinkets. While shopping for audiobooks to sell in his shop, Aziraphale's attention is caught by a familiar name. Does Crowley narrate smutty audiobooks? Why yes, yes he does. The writer does a great job with Crowley's voice and the fun asides. I could absolutely hear David Tennant reading the words in my head.
SparrowVixen wrote In words I dwell in darkness, with words you lift me up (T) in which Crowley takes up writing romance stories inspired by time he's spent with Aziraphale. Aziraphale is horrified when he discovers them, but not for the reason you might think.
Do you enjoy bad sex puns as much as I do? If so, you'll love "The Devil Made Me Do Him" and other recommended titles (E) by AppleSeeds. When Crowley repairs Aziraphale's e-reader, he discovers some provocative recommendations based on what he's already read. What follows is some ridiculously silly, pun-filled, smut and a much needed conversation between our pair.
@copperplatebeech wrote an entire series called The Rake (E). It begins with Crowley discovering that Aziraphale wrote erotica during their estrangement in the 19th century. In future stories, they resurrect Aziraphale's nom de plume (Chasten Angell) as a way to discuss their fantasies in a safe way. The writer is so good at capturing the tone of a Victorian tale, making for fun reads.
Are you ready for some human AUs on the same theme? More under the gif.
Next, we have Between a Book and a Hard Place (E) by LCWrites. Aziraphale and Crowley have a quickie at an event, never expecting to see each other again. Then Crowley gets the job of narrating a book of Victorian erotical written by Aziraphale. Will sparks fly again?
Aziraphale is a popular, queer romance writer in and now all of my garden is grown in lavender (E) by @ilikeblue. His fans want a glimpse inside his perfect romantic life. Unfortunately, it's all a lie. Will pretending his gardener Crowley is his partner fool anyone?
We're back to AppleSeeds with Passion on the Projector (M). When Crowley enters the room where Aziraphale just finished his lecture, he discovers some interesting material on the overhead projector. Apparently, Professor Fell was reading smut without realizing his laptop was still connected to the projector. Oops.
Finally, In the Margins: The Other Anniversary by @thisisshiny has Aziraphale and Crowley celebrating an anniversary by reading erotica together. You could read this on its own. But it's part of a series. You should start at the beginning. It's terrific!
