"Show, don't tell," BUT THE FUN IS HOW YOU TELL IT.
It's all very well focusing on action and dialogue and not straight out saying exactly what's happening, but like... You can have so much fun telling things in a funny way. Think Good Omens, all of the Anne Shirley books, etc.
"Most people's first impression of Aziraphale was that he was gayer than a tree of monkies on nitrous oxide gas." Could not be told better.
If you wanna tell something not show it, JUST TELL IT. IT'S FUN. IT'S BEEN PROVEN TO WORK WELL. DON'T MISS OUT.
