If I'm being so honest, Ive never understood how saying "empathy makes us human" is ableist. It genuinely makes no sense to me, especially as peoples first examples are people with ASPD. (it feels like a false way to express you care about us if I'm being so honest.) I'm not sure if it's genuinely meant for us and it's actually for people with only depression, autism, ptsd, ect. Because I couldn't care if I tried. If someone thinks me not being empathetic, caring about others, not helping people, ect. makes me "subhuman"/not a real or good person, thats fine. I can't change how people think and it's a waste of time to cry over, especially because this mindset for a ton of people is very already set in stone. You probably could probably link this to how in childhood, you're exposed to things like Disney movies where only the "good people" are the people who feel for others and care about them. But how I see it, you have to be very insecure to project this onto yourself and get this upset over it. There's no point in crying or caring just because someone says something mean to you/about you, that's gonna happen. Sure, you don't have to accept it if you feel that offended by someone else's perspective of you, but that's all it is to me, it's how you perceive me. And that's never gonna matter to me. It proves nothing of how I actually treat others I go out of my way spend time with, the people I spend my time with understand I don't love them in a normal sense, or that I genuinely don't care or love them. Why waste my time worrying about something as small as a phrase that 1) probably isn't even actually for me and people are just saying it is. 2) Something that reeks of insecurity. 3) Something that does not, and will not matter in the world. I'm not gonna sit there and sob because someone thinks I'm a horrible person, much more go to the full extreme to be so upset by such a non issue that will never effect my day to day. To me, if you aren't insecure and don't place everything in what others say, then this shouldn't matter to you. There's genuinely other things that matter more and impact me way more than this, and getting upset over something like this does nothing for me.
