So after playing the actual rules of of Tellstones...not that great but we tried a few variants that made the game vastly better. variant #1: all stones are always face down, you can only find out what they are by using the peak option. Variant #2: the stones start face up while off to the side but as soon as they are placed, they stay face down. In both variants, there is no Boast option. You can only challenge a run of three stones only after there are at least 5 on the board. As soon as a player gains a point, clear the board and start again.
