“Busy with what?” he still asked, with a hand on his hip. It didn’t take much to put two and two together as to why Koji didn’t want him around whenever he spots him like this, but he wanted to hear it from the other himself. “Whatever you’re doing seems very risky, to say the least. I can’t just pretend I didn’t notice anything and move on, you know? Even if we’re not that close, I consider you a friend. I want to know what you’re up to.”

"... I feel so stupid." Yuichi finally says after five minutes of "conversing" with Cain via... flashlights? Seriously, how did Cain convince him to even do this, he wonders to himself...

“I think I’m actually starting to pick up on some things. For example, you click it fast when you’re starting to get irritated, and I think you clicked it to the tune of a song at some point. We could use it to communicate in Morse code too, but I think it’s more fun to just come up with our own language,” he told the other, clicking his flashlight to the tune of an upbeat song. He seems to be having a lot of fun with this.
“Communication doesn’t always need words, does it? Sometimes the sounds or gestures get the emotions across. Here, try to guess what emotion I’m trying to convey with this!” Click. Click click. Click click click click. It almost sounded like it had a playful tone to it.

“Ggh.” The impact wasn’t a light one, that’s for sure. Even so, he seemed to recover pretty quick, trying to get his back away from the wall. Being cornered like that would make him an easy target, after all.
“Hey, calm down for a second! At least listen to what I have to say first. I’m not here to cause you any harm, and I’d really rather not use my magic against you,” he quickly tried to explain, “I’m here to look for a plant I was told grew around these parts. Since the castle is overgrown, I thought I might find it inside.”

"I see..." Shuichi wasn't surprised that the rumors made him sound ruthless. All he really wanted was some peace, so he had no choice but to scare off the students, sometimes... "...Being a ghost is the only special thing about me... Ah, no, that's fine with me. If you prefer just Cain, then you can call me just Shuichi."
He smiles. It was rare for him to call someone/be called by first name... When Cain offers his hand, he gives a small chuckle. "It's not rude at all. Forgive me if my hand feels cold, though..." He makes his arm less transparent until it's touchable before grasping Cain's and shaking it. He's made the fires that surround him harmless, so there were no worries about accidentally being burned.
"...Since you're so kind, I don't mind talking to you. I'm also very curious about you; and I would be very grateful if you could do that for me. I understand that humans have a natural curiosity for the supernatural and will let their imaginations run wild, but I don't exactly appreciate being treated like a circus attraction..."
Or some kind of horrific monster, but he supposes that's to be expected... "You don't seem like you've had past encounters with ghosts before... I'm very shocked at how unfazed you are..."
“It actually makes me a little happy to know I can touch your hand like this. I thought it would phase through, but that just goes to show that there are a lot of misconceptions about ghosts. Nice to meet you, Shuichi!” Followed by him enthusiastically shaking the other’s hand with a laugh. “I’m told my skin runs warm, so maybe we can achieve equilibrium together,” he joked, then hummed at the ghost’s observation.
“It would be pretty rude for me to come to you of my own accord and then act fazed when I do run into you, wouldn’t it? Just because I’m not familiar with you doesn’t mean it’s okay for me to treat you disrespectfully. You seem like a nice person,” he reasoned, with a thoughtful tilt of his head. “Ah, but I guess I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little excited to know more about you. You don’t need to tell me anything you’re not comfortable with, of course. I’m just curious about why you chose to stay around here.”
Even if this guy was harmless, his need to keep on talking was really about to drive Kamui to try punching him again despite his current state. Likely worsening his arm in the process. Surely there was some motive behind this, his own trust issues were so awful that he's suspicious of anyone behaving this nicely. Regardless, he's just going to ignore Cain mostly. Kamui eyed the blue capped bottle, then mulls over Cain's offer to get a fresh bottle.
He kept thinking the bottle in the staff room could possibly be laced with something.
''Could. . . . . I get a bottle from the shelves?'' Kamui finally begrudgingly asked of Cain, while slipping off his jacket. Given how he strained himself when trying to punch Cain, his arm had heavily bled through the bandages he had on prior, having left a dark red stain on his jacket too. This was going to be a pain in the ass to treat himself, but Kamui rather deal with it then rely on some invasive idiot.
“Of course, I’ll go grab one for you.” More than happy to offer some assistance, he wasted no time fetching a new water bottle, dropping a coin in the cash register, before knocking on the door as he slowly stepped into the staff’s room.
“….” His guess had been correct, after all. These injuries looked very serious. Walking over to the table, he cracked the bottle’s cap with a twist so it would be easier for the other to open it, before sliding it towards him. It already seemed like being within the same room was putting the other on edge, so he didn’t come any closer. “…If you walk around with that blood-stained jacket, the police will end up questioning you.”

Cain couldn’t help but chuckle heartily at the other’s response, resting a hand idly on his hip. “You definitely seem way nicer than the rumors made you out to be. I’ve never met a ghost before, so I don’t have a solid frame of reference, but you seem pretty special as a ghost yourself.” It was nice to see that the other looked comfortable with his presence, too. Movies might not be the best source to get information from, but they did leave the impression that some ghosts were territorial.
“You can just call me Cain. I’m not very good at being formal, so I have a hard time remembering to tack on honorifics. I can try to do that if you’d prefer it, though,” he explained, his eyes following the wisps in wonder, before going back to meet the other’s. With an open palm, he slowly extended his hand, like he didn’t want to spook the ghost. “I’m a little new to ghost culture, so forgive me if offering to shake hands is considered rude here, but I’d love to know more about you. Ah, and sorry about my peers. I’ll ask them to tone it down with the ghost-hunts and rumors.”

“My role on this trip is to be your plushie, huh? That’s a bit different from what I originally planned, but I’ll try my best to live up to expectations,” he chuckled, putting the rest of their luggage down to start unpacking. His back was turned to Viola as he opened his bag, giving her some privacy in case she wanted to organize her more private belongings into the drawers.
“It’s pretty exciting to be in a foreign country, isn’t it?” Taking his phone out of his pocket, he glanced at the time. “We might have to rest and take it easy for today, but we can go sightseeing for a bit before your competition. It’s in two days, right?”
Even if Twilight was permitted to feel embarrassment about her blatant disregard for sensibility, that did not allow him to move even an inch. Suzy would put a stop to even a flinch! Arms already struggle to wrap around his middle, feeding the fabric tape around that she could take more notes about his waist and inseam. The distance up to his arms and where his other bone structure fell.
For a demon lord, he wasn't the bulkiest. But. For dressing him in something not quite as gaudy- it was preferred. Already in her mind she was imagining the pieces she might need. Something sturdy but with fine details. Maybe a pattern where the collar...
"Nnn."
Maybe it's how Suzy has to face up at said collar that triggers the remark. To get the bust would already be trouble enough. But his neck? The dragon doesn't blush, but she does tense up in frustration and reluctant surrender.
"I might need a stool to reach your head. If you were to sit down it wouldn't work. Even your chair here ... well obviously I won't stand on that. Or any of these books. You take good care of your things. Just not yourself. I wonder why that is?"
With bottled emotion Suzy steps back, looking almost meek as she waits for the situation to be resolved. Finding herself unable to simply solve it on her own. The stool in her prison cell was adequate for any other work. But running all the way back to get that would put her back into square one.
"You're a difficult opponent."
By which she means troublesome customer.
This felt… like a humiliation ritual, and he couldn’t do so much as comment on it because she seemed so serious, even as she basically hugged his middle. His whole body was as tense as can be, trying his best to fight down the embarrassment. Was this… a ploy to kill him?? No human in their right mind would get this close to a demon king, right? No, but even if that was the case, something this silly wouldn’t be enough to take him down. He won’t be defeated like this. Even if he was barely breathing. And sweating bullets. And on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Thankfully, he was offered a small respite, his lungs getting some air back in them when he finally got his personal space back. She seemed to agree that she needed a chair, though with some… uncharacteristic meekness. His offer didn’t offend her, did it…? He hesitated for a moment, before slowly floating a folded chair tucked behind a bookshelf with his power. Her question made him pause in confusion, though.
“I… I do take care of myself? I try to stay fit and healthy…” Did he put on some weight?? Or lose some muscle?? He patted his stomach down in worry. The other demons in the castle would have told him if he was neglecting something, right?? And what does a difficult opponent mean?? Was she… trying to measure how hard it would be to skin him, after all???
…The whiplash of it all was making him a little dizzy.

“I’m not saying that killing and hurting people is okay,” he explained, with a gentle hand on the other’s head. “But a lot of bad things happened to you, and with your power, it’s easy for your emotions to turn into something dangerous. That’s just how you’ve learned to survive.”
“But despite all of that, you enjoy sharing the food you like with others. You want to get along with people, even if you don’t know how.” He met the other’s eyes with a smile. “I fully believe that you deserve a home that’ll teach you how to do that — how to make friends, and how to live in a way that’ll make you truly happy. If you want me to promise you that, I will.”
A shopping trip. The concept of going shopping with someone was so foreign to the vampire that he froze for just a few seconds with a shocked expression on his face. "You would want to?" The words came out slowly, each accentuating the surprise that Whiteblood was feeling. It wasn't unpleasant, just... he saw himself as infinitely boring, to have someone speak of spending time willingly with him, without the need or want for any business practices, felt quite unreal.
Whiteblood hesitated for just a moment and sighed. He shook his head as he looked at the other, and finally, he responded. "Well... if you really are dead set on spoiling me, I am willing to allow it but," He raised his index finger and lightly waved it in front of the young man. "Do not push yourself too much, okay? Spoiling others is a virtue, but only if it does not come at your own cost. The moment you would burden yourself, that's when I will take issue. Does that feel like a fair deal to you?"
“Of course! It’d be fun to try all sorts of clothes with you. Ah, but I have to apologize in advance — I might get us stuck in the boots section for a while. Something about them just grabs my interest, you know?” he asked, with a sheepish laugh. His face seemed to brighten when the other agreed to let him spoil him, though.
“Really?? Hooray! Haha, I got worried there for a second, since I really wanted to pamper you today. Well, I say 'pampering', but it really doesn’t come close to how much you usually do for others. Even now, you’re worrying about whether or not I’ll push myself too hard. I think that part of you is very sweet.” Walking over to the vampire, he grabbed his wrist, tugging him over towards the main attractions. “You’ve got a deal, so set the worries aside and make sure to enjoy yourself too, alright? Let’s go try one of the rides!”
There is a small pout on the boy's lips as he backs up just a little. As befitting a fox, Niimi had a small pension for tricks- and theft. Theft of snacks and dango. Mostly dango. Which he takes a bite of even though this person had caught him sneaking out the store without paying.
"I promise I won't steal again, so you won't tell on me, will you??" A glance up with big pleading eyes- after he takes another bite of his beloved dango.

“Hmm~ I wonder about that. It’s only fair that you get the repercussions of your actions, don’t you think?” he asked, and despite his nonchalant tone and attitude, he left no openings for the other to escape. “That’s a lesson you’ll have to learn sooner or later. It’s part of growing up.”
"Oh...?" He blinks in surprise at that. Shao... Likes the feel of his cold skin? Shuichi didn't expect that at all. No one's ever told him that before.... "....I see...." A warm smile adorns his face as he feels Shao rest his chin on his shoulder... "Then I'm happy....it feels just as nice and calming to you..." For once, maybe he liked the fact his skin felt so cold...
He hums when Shao wraps both arms around him in a full hug, with Shuichi leaning more of his head against Shao's as well. His eyes lower.... Right now, the vampire felt complete bliss. Before he met Shao, when was the last time he was ever this intimate with someone, if ever? He never realized just how much he craved human touch like this... He hopes Shao will not want to let go for a while. He could stay like this for a long time...
"Th... Then whenever you'd like.... Shao: y... you can hug me. And if I may dare to ask if it's also okay.... to want to do this more often? Hugs feel....so nice. I never thought I would be able to bond close enough with a human to be able to do so with them.."
The offer makes him pause, a bit of embarrassment swirling back into his chest. Hugging the other whenever he’d like… well, he doesn’t think he’s bold enough to do something like that, as nice as the idea was. He could try, though. If Shuichi wanted to hug more often, then… there was no reason to feel embarrassed about wanting to do that, too, right?
“…Sure,” he mumbled, giving in to the calming effect of the hug, once again. It almost felt like a cold compress on a migraine — literally. He could feel the chronic tension in his temples dissipating. “I’m… uh, not really good at initiating hugs like this, but it does feel nice. I wouldn’t mind doing it more often.” In fact, he’d really like that. He didn’t even want to let go yet, if the way he was fully leaning into the hug was any indication. “Is hugging a human different from hugging another vampire?”
❝ Not that it really matters, but are you okay? ❞ he offers Cain the palm of his right hand for the customary high-five.

That question, coming from Mithra of all people, catches him off guard.
“…Why? Do I seem off today?” he asked, as he high-fived the other. His confusion was apparent on his face. “I guess it might be because I haven’t gotten any proper sleep lately… Well, it’s nothing compared to what you go through with your bizarre injury, so I should be okay. Thank you for asking, though.”

Is he deaf? This guy really just did whatever the hell he wanted, didn't he? Kamui's gaze was on him like a hawk, the irritation only growing until he decided to try launching a punch at him to make Cain leave him alone but the pain shot through him and he gritted his teeth as he held his arm where the pain shot through.
''Fuck, fuck, fuck. . . . .'' Kamui hissed, knowing this would only make the guy more likely to meddle where he was unwanted. Kamui tended to have his own idiotic moments, such as this where he gave away how bad of shape he truly was in right now.
''Fine. . . .'' The most frustrated of sighs came out of him, ''Give me the damn bag.'' This guy's face pissed him off, everything about him pissed Kamui off. Being so annoyingly concerned and kind for no reason. It got on his nerves to no end. Kamui snatched the bag from him, regretfully so given the way he clicks his tongue since that hurt to do. Then went ahead to the staff room for privacy, despite the reluctance. He does look around wondering if he was being set up, since it seemed off putting how helpful Cain was to begin with.
“I warned you that trying to be violent would only make your wounds worse…” He’d moved aside to dodge the incoming punch, but it didn’t seem like there was any need to do that in the first place. For the other to not be able to move his arm like that, or do so much as snatch the bag… it only gave away how serious his injuries must be.
All the more reason to make sure he treats them properly. He watched as the other went into the staff room, before returning to his spot behind the counter.
“Ah, I almost forgot. I have a blue-capped water bottle back there, too. You can drink it with the painkillers,” he told the other, knowing his voice could be heard from inside the room. “Or I can bring you a cold water bottle from the shelves, if you’d prefer that. Let me know if you need anything else, alright? Customers rarely come by this late into the night, anyway.”
This guy was being ridiculously intrusive. This was a new kind of harassment, wasn't it? Kamui wasn't used to having strangers fuss over him to such an extent. It made him unbelievably uncomfortable. He was growing increasingly irritated.
''I'll give you one last chance to back off before I punch you in the face.'' Kamui warned, very likely to act out on his threat. ''I'm not sitting down with some dumbass, and letting him get that close to me. I don't trust you, and I don't want to be anywhere near you.''
What the hell was wrong with this guy? Clearly had some screws loose.
Didn’t trust him, huh? After a brief hum, he walked away from Kamui over to the cash register, scanning the medical items in his hands and putting some money in the drawer, before coming right back to the other.
“Then I won’t make you sit with me — it’s true that you have no reason to trust me, after all. You can use the staff room behind the counter to treat your wounds with these. I’ll only check in every now and then to make sure you don’t need help with anything.” He held the items –which he’d placed in a plastic bag, to make it easier to carry– out to the other. “You can take some snacks with you and rest there for a while until I finish my shift. I’m the only one working the night shift today, so you don’t have to worry about anyone else walking in on you. How does that sound?”
