The Stolen Memories Pt. 2
Collapsing onto the deck, Lup tried to get her eyes to focus on something. Anything. However, the more she tried to focus on what was in front of her, the more her head pounded against the walls of her cranium. Everything she could even remotely see soon dispersed into static.
She was disoriented. She didn’t know where she was, how she had gotten here, or who she was.
Looking ahead from the floor she had collapsed on, she spotted three figures. Two were lying on the ground. One was rolling around, holding the sides of their head. She couldn’t make out their face through the flashes of the red robe. The other figure on the floor wasn’t moving, and whether they were bleeding or that was part of their crimson cape was anyone’s guess.
The third was the most terrifying.
A figure floating above the distorted floorboards, a robe covering his frame. The pin on the robe was not one Lup could figure out. It was almost as if it were written in another language she couldn’t even attempt to comprehend. Under the clothing, was a glowing skeleton man, who swiftly made his way over to kneel next to the high-elf’s fallen form.
“Oh, o-oh my god, L͚̀ų͖̪p̷̳̜̙̟̫͜, it’s- it’s actually, you- are, oh my god I thought that we lost you! Wh- where did you go?”
She immediately slipped backwards, flat up against the wall of the ship and staring at this, man, who she didn’t know.
The man took a few steps backward, seeming very taken aback by the phrase she just spoke.
“...did you just...I...L̸̨͟҉̺̭̲̙̙̮̰̗̤u̶̵̯͉͖̩͍̝͙͕͈̖̤͙̝̖͍̘͈̭̕͝ͅp̨̙͖͎̰̯͎̟̟̩͇͕͓̰̮̙̣̫͝͡...please, please tell me you’re joking. I- I’m Barry! Barry Bluejeans? You...you love me, remember? All she heard was static, and more static.
Covering her ears and curling into a tighter ball, Lup shut her eyes tight as the noise grew louder. What was he saying?
“P-...please...please, stop!” She cried out weakly to this complete stranger.
With her cry, he stopped.
His entire composure dropped in an instant, his eyes and expression gaining a more morbid tone.
“...babe,” he took a deep breath and slowly reached into his back pocket, “I’m only doing this, because, I love you, and, I know this is going to be horrible since you don’t understand but, you will. I- I can’t do this without you, and, this- this is the only way you’ll understand- please, I, I have to do this. I have to...”
From his pocket, Barry pulled a dagger, menacingly walking toward her.
Lup’s eyes went wide with panic and she let out a scream, grabbing an object that was closest to her person at the time. Holding her umbrella out in front of her, begging it to protect her, it unfolded and began to suck in the surrounding air like a vacuum.
With a shout and a bright light, the dagger clattered to the ground, and the Umbra Staff closed up again. Opening her eyes, Lup saw no one standing there.
The umbrella had absorbed Barry J Bluejeans.
